- Chapter 116 - More Than Angry, She Was Afraid
The two of them returned safely to the Xijing Villa.
Qin Yan got out of the car with a solemn expression, and Xia Mingtang quickly unbuckled her seatbelt, stumbling as she followed.
“Slow down, slow down! Are you sprinting a hundred meters or what?”
Housekeeper Zhou noticed the two ladies returning and stepped forward to greet them.
Qin Yan nodded slightly. “Zhou, halve tonight’s dinner portions.”
Xia Mingtang, curious, peeked over. “Huh? Are you on a diet recently?”
“You already ate outside, didn’t you?” Qin Yan didn’t give her a glance and walked straight upstairs.
Xia Mingtang was shocked: what, drinking some tea now counts as a full meal? What kind of era is this, where one gets punished with hunger over a single disagreement?
“Zhou, don’t listen to her! Keep dinner the same, exactly the same!”
After emphasizing this, Xia Mingtang also went upstairs.
Qin Yan ignored her, so she didn’t bother drawing attention to herself either. There were plenty of rooms on the second floor, so she hugged Mimi and played parent-child games.
Dinner didn’t get reduced, and Qin Yan sat in her chair, barely lifting an eyelid.
Xia Mingtang, knowing Qin Yan was holding back her anger, feared that she might come up with some way to make trouble later. During the meal, she ate as if the wind could blow her away, afraid that even a second’s delay would leave her hungry for the night. She believed Qin Yan was capable of such a thing.
However, by the end of dinner, Qin Yan still hadn’t spoken a word, which made Xia Mingtang feel uneasy.
Had she changed recently? Had she somehow adjusted herself? But looking at Qin Yan’s dark, brooding face, it didn’t seem like she had calmed down at all.
Xia Mingtang remained anxious like this until nightfall.
The two of them bathed separately and sat at opposite ends of the large double bed, each busy with her own thing.
To call it “busy” wasn’t quite accurate.
Xia Mingtang cleared two levels in a puzzle game, glancing toward Qin Yan no less than ten times during the process.
She saw Qin Yan holding a laptop, absorbed in something, her expression fluctuating like unsettled weather.
Xia Mingtang made a misstep, and the giant “GAME OVER” flashed on the screen.
At the same time, Qin Yan closed her laptop and left the room.
For some reason, Xia Mingtang’s heart started racing.
Her intuition proved accurate.
A few minutes later, Qin Yan returned to the bedroom, now holding… handcuffs.
Xia Mingtang’s sharp eyes immediately recognized them as the same ones Qin Yan had used on her during that time she got spanked on the sofa.
“Don’t spank my butt!” Xia Mingtang reflexively covered her behind and stepped back two paces.
“Why does Tongtong think I would spank your butt?” Qin Yan curled her lips slightly but didn’t smile.
Of course, because you’re a little… extreme.
Xia Mingtang complained silently but appeared obedient on the surface. After all, she had been reprimanded so many times; a wise girl avoids unnecessary losses.
Taking a deep breath, Xia Mingtang stepped forward, grabbed Qin Yan’s hand holding the handcuffs, and pressed her pale little face against it, nuzzling like a kitten.
“Qin Yan… sister, I’m sorry, don’t hit me.”
Qin Yan’s hand felt warm and delicate, her eyes dimmed, but her voice remained cold.
“Oh? Then Tongtong, tell me—what exactly did you do wrong?”
What the—? I was just being polite, and you took it seriously.
Xia Mingtang looped her arm around Qin Yan’s shoulder, tracing circles on the silk pajama fabric with her soft fingers.
“I’ll do whatever you say I did wrong.”
Her voice was so sweet it could drip water; Xia Mingtang knew Qin Yan would fall for it.
Sure enough, Qin Yan immediately pulled her into a hug, one hand exploring along the cotton pajama hem.
Pink lips were seized, soft whimpers escaping her nose.
From the doorway to the bed, they kissed, and soon their pajamas were a mess.
So far, things had gone exactly as Xia Mingtang expected.
Bring it on—at least this happens a few times daily, much better than getting spanked.
But soon, she could no longer smile.
Qin Yan was half sucking, half tugging at the cotton pajamas…
The pajamas were thrown to the foot of the bed, and with a “snap,” both wrists were cuffed with snug, plush restraints.
Xia Mingtang, flushed and pinned down, nearly cried upon realizing what happened.
“Why are you handcuffing me again! Weren’t we fine just now?”
Qin Yan raised herself, tracing a hand along the flushed areas around Xia Mingtang’s eyes, voice soft but firm.
“I won’t hit you today. Be good.”
When she said “be good,” her gaze traveled over Xia Mingtang’s delicate little face, down the body, wishing she could leave a mark on every inch of skin.
Xia Mingtang shivered unconsciously, feeling a mix of shame and helplessness.
Outside, the sky darkened, and Qin Yan’s usually clear, melodious voice became hoarse, eventually fading to silence.
She released the legs of the exhausted girl in her arms and knelt by the bed, eyes red, watching her asleep wife.
It was impossible to count how many times she had held Xia Mingtang’s jade-like hands, hands seemingly washed clean by rain.
She lifted her wet hand to her lips, licking it with her tongue.
The familiar taste brought some clarity back.
Mechanically, she undid the handcuffs that had restrained Xia Mingtang the entire time, tossing them onto the bedside table.
She curled her arm around the dazed little face, planting kiss after kiss, finally displaying a blissful, almost foolish expression.
Only at these moments did she feel her partner completely belonged to her.
Seeing Xia Mingtang chatting with Song Mo today, she was less angry than afraid—
Afraid that Song Mo’s presence might disrupt her current stable happiness.
Afraid that her little wife might learn about her shameful past and despise her, leaving forever.
Even more afraid that one day, a younger version of herself would completely replace her.
Suddenly, rain began falling outside. In the sound of the drizzle, her consciousness gradually blurred.
Around her was boundless darkness, filled with grotesque floating heads making eerie cries, as if trying to devour her soul.
Among them appeared a sharp-featured woman, stretching out her hand and saying, “Trust me.”
She trusted her then, only to be swallowed even worse.
Xia Mingtang woke up feeling as if she had been soaked in warm water, her whole body aching.
Bending her knees, she felt a pulling pain in a sensitive area.
“Ugh~”
Her delicate hands pressed against the sheets, touching the lingering dampness.
Last night, Qin Yan had taken her twice even in her sleep, leaving the sheets still wet.
Her inner thighs felt sticky, and Xia Mingtang recalled Qin Yan’s beastly behavior, anger flaring inside her.
Completely crazy, and on top of that, not even cleaning up afterward!
She bent her legs, intending to kick, but saw the person beside her, her face unusually flushed.
Xia Mingtang withdrew her legs and pushed Qin Yan’s shoulder gently.
The warmth from her fingertips carried heat. Normally, Qin Yan’s body was on the cooler side except during intimacy.
Something was off. Xia Mingtang used the back of her hand to check Qin Yan’s forehead.
So hot!
The poor girl had gone wild last night, and now she was running a fever.
Xia Mingtang felt helpless, enduring the grievance silently.
She got up to wash quickly and used a damp towel to wipe Qin Yan down.
Then she wrestled with the bedding to change it.
Finally, she prepared a cup of light saline water and returned to wake Qin Yan.
For the first time in her life, she had been bullied so badly, only to wake and take care of the one who had bullied her—truly a cruel fate!
Qin Yan, still foggy from a nightmare, was pushed awake several times by Xia Mingtang.
“Tongtong.”
“Don’t ‘Tong’ me! You’ve given yourself a fever—drink this.”
Xia Mingtang helped Qin Yan sit up and shoved the glass into her hands.
Her body weak, Qin Yan had lost all her usual obsessive craziness, holding the glass and drinking slowly.
A single glass of water took several minutes to finish.
Xia Mingtang, annoyed by the slow pace, wanted her to act with half the decisiveness of last night.
But she couldn’t get angry at a sick person. Finally, when Qin Yan put down the glass for a moment, she asked:
“Where did you hide the first aid kit? I couldn’t find it anywhere.”
Qin Yan weakly gestured to a nearby cabinet.
Xia Mingtang opened it, silent for three seconds.
Putting it in such a visible place made her last words seem silly.
She brought the first aid kit back to the bed, pretending nothing happened, and opened it, pointing to the colorful pills.
“Pick the medicine you like.”
Qin Yan rarely fell ill, so this sudden fever was serious.
What Xia Mingtang initially thought was just a regular fever ended up confining Qin Yan to bed for days, eventually requiring a hospital visit.
Xia Mingtang, still simmering with resentment, had planned to settle the score once Qin Yan recovered.
But seeing her fragile, thin body covered by the hospital gown, looking pitiful, she couldn’t get angry.
Tomorrow was Saturday, so Xia Mingtang took a personal day to care for her patient.
Entering the ward, she saw Qin Yan sitting on the bed with a laptop, fingers typing continuously.
“Slap!” Xia Mingtang closed the laptop with one hand, speaking authoritatively.
“The doctor said you have a central nervous system infection due to the fever and need rest. Why can’t you obey?”
Usually, Xia Mingtang was under Qin Yan’s strict supervision, but now, finally having a chance to be in charge, she felt pleased.
Sick Qin Yan was unusually agreeable, without her usual mood swings.
Her tall, thin body was surrounded by a soft, gentle aura.
Hair clinging to her sweaty face made her look like a small wet dog.
Qin Yan moved the laptop aside and pulled Xia Mingtang onto the bed, leaning against her arm.
“Wife, you’re here. I’ve missed you so much~”
