The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 80
The bedroom curtains were drawn tightly, the light faintly turning the darkness within the room into a gray haze. On the bedside table sat a half cup of water and an ice pack wrapped in a towel. Over the course of the night, the towel had naturally dried, leaving a deep dark water stain on the finely crafted tabletop.
Shen Zhi was woken up by a feeling of numbness in her arm. The moment she opened her eyes, her right arm felt as if countless silver needles were piercing through it. She let out a soft hiss and turned to look at the person beside her.
Due to the late night, Qin Huai was still asleep. The dark gray blanket casually covered her chest, her long hair spread across the pillow. She was lying on her side, her fingers tightly gripping the other person’s right arm. The slightly leaning position easily exposed her collarbone to the air. Following the collarbone downwards, the pale complexion unique to an omega formed a stark contrast with the bedsheets, blindingly white.
Shen Zhi dared not look closely, nor did she dare to wake Qin Huai. She could only slowly withdraw her arm, her movements so gentle that if the omega made any slight movement, she would stop, waiting until she was deeply asleep before continuing.
With her entire arm finally free, Shen Zhi breathed a sigh of relief, then got out of bed without delay to prepare breakfast.
Qin Huai was not picky about food; besides liking fish, she disliked greasy food. But after spending so much time together, Shen Zhi still discovered all her little habits.
The more home-style the meal, the better Qin Huai’s appetite would be.
Shen Zhi had originally only considered these as Qin Huai’s preferences, but after yesterday’s events, she understood. The simple meals, which were nothing special in her eyes, were long-coveted treasures for Qin Huai.
Shen Zhi washed up and went to the kitchen to start cooking, rinsing the rice, boiling the water, pouring these into the pot, setting the timer, and then going out to buy flatbreads.
It was a weekday, and she had class, so she didn’t dare to delay for too long. After only buying the flatbreads, she headed to school. Fortunately, the rental apartment was not too far from the school, and there were still five minutes before the teacher started class when she reached the classroom.
Her roommate, Zhang Mo, had saved a seat for her in the back against the wall. Shen Zhi spotted it right away and jogged over, weaving through the rows of desks to sit beside Zhang Mo, cheekily asking, “Did you bring my textbook for me?”
Zhang Mo rolled her eyes at her, took her own book out of her bag, and placed it on the desk. “No.”
Shen Zhi said “Oh,” and quickly snatched Zhang Mo’s book when she wasn’t looking. Poor Zhang Mo, in the time it took her to grab a pen, the textbook on her desk had already changed hands, which made her grit her teeth and say, “Shen Zhi, can you have some shame?”
Shen Zhi sat up properly, her gaze firm and focused on the front. “I don’t have such a thing.”
Zhang Mo was utterly exasperated. First, she snorted, then she laughed. “Shen Zhi, I have a photo of you in my hand.”
“So what?”
Zhang Mo: “I’ll send it to Qin Huai later.”
Shen Zhi: “?”
Zhang Mo: “Let her see your glorious state.”
Shen Zhi’s looks and bone structure were good; no matter how big a facial expression she made, it wouldn’t be too bad, so the concept of an ugly photo basically didn’t exist. She didn’t take it to heart, flipping through Zhang Mo’s book as if it were her own, showing a kind of fearless courage.
Zhang Mo didn’t believe it and continued, “That photo is the one that was posted on the forum when Qin Huai and Lin Qiu were together. I remember that night you”
Shen Zhi’s movements froze. She moved the book in front of Zhang Mo, saying very tactfully, “I’m sorry, I looked at it wrong just now.”
Zhang Mo stifled a laugh. “Don’t be like that, this book is yours.”
Shen Zhi: “No, no, no. As an unparalleled good Alpha, courtesy is a traditional virtue.”
Zhang Mo couldn’t stop laughing and asked her, “What’s wrong with you? You won’t lose anything by sending that photo to Qin Huai. If she softens up, she might just take you in.”
“No need.” Shen Zhi refused without thinking. “I’m afraid of being embarrassed.”
Zhang Mo truly laughed for a long time this time, and the smile on her face didn’t fade until halfway through the class.
Shen Zhi was too lazy to bother with her, diligently taking out a notebook and writing down the key points. It was only near the end of class that she picked up her phone to check it, and at a certain moment, her eyes lit up.
Zhang Mo understood who the message was from when she saw her expression. She bumped Shen Zhi with her shoulder and asked, “What’s up? Is the Senior coming to pick you up after class?”
To her surprise, Shen Zhi gave her a look of disdain. “How old is an Alpha to still need someone to pick them up?”
Zhang Mo: “Then what are you so happy about?”
Shen Zhi curved her eyes, and a faint dimple appeared when the smile emerged on her lips. “The Senior is coming to meet me for lunch later.”
Zhang Mo stared, wanting to say something but stopping herself, thinking, You’re not much better than me.
As soon as the class bell rang, the teacher had barely stepped out with his textbook tucked under his arm when Shen Zhi bolted out the back door. The meeting spot was at the entrance of the teaching building. Shen Zhi spotted the omega sitting on a stone bench across the road right away.
The school’s weeping willows swayed in the wind. Qin Huai was wearing a long-sleeved casual shirt and loose-fitting jeans, legs crossed, looking at the tablet in her hand. Her habit of studying was deeply ingrained; no matter where she was, whether the surrounding environment was quiet or noisy, she had the habit of entering a state of focus in an instant.
Just like now, the bustling crowds on the asphalt road hadn’t dispersed, and the chatter of college students walking together was incessant. Qin Huai sat on the stone bench as if no one else was around, completely undisturbed.
Shen Zhi walked quickly towards her, planning to slow down as she got closer. To her surprise, the omega in front of her was simply magical. In the first step she took, Qin Huai had already raised her eyes and turned off the tablet. “Class is over?”
The tone of “Class is over?” was indifferent. It wouldn’t mean much on its own, but combined with her expression, it gave Shen Zhi the feeling of being a child waiting for a parent to pick them up from school.
Shen Zhi found it very strange, but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange, so she could only ask, “How did you know it was me?”
“Scent.” Qin Huai simply explained with two words, then stood up from her seat. “Who did you say you wanted to take me to see?”
She had sent a message to Shen Zhi earlier, originally planning to just have a simple meal, but to her surprise, the other person replied that it was too early for lunch and suggested going to see someone with her instead. Qin Huai agreed without hesitation.
Shen Zhi raised an eyebrow, her voice slightly relaxed. “You’ll know when we get there.”
Since she didn’t want to say, Qin Huai didn’t ask further, only dropping a sentence, “You’re in charge of leading the way,” and acted like the boss. Shen Zhi smiled helplessly and opened an app to call a taxi. She wanted to hold hands but Qin Huai pulled away, so she had to give up. As they reached the school gate, the car arrived just in time.
The drive lasted about half an hour, and the car finally stopped outside an old looking residential complex.
The complex was genuinely old, with dilapidated three-story buildings. There were no balconies built on the outside, and each household only extended a rope from the window to hang clothes.
Qin Huai asked with some confusion, “Why did you bring me here?”
Shen Zhi smiled and took her hand. This time, unlike at school, the other person didn’t pull away. “You were curious about Qin Zhijing’s matter, weren’t you? I found a clue for you.”
While going upstairs, Qin Huai roughly understood the whole story.
The elderly resident living here was a security guard who had worked at Gu Qing’s laboratory back then. Shen Zhi had located him through layers of investigation. At first, the old man refused to talk, as at his age, the less trouble the better. But Shen Zhi didn’t give up and persuaded him through his granddaughter. Her persistence paid off, and the old man finally relented a few days ago.
The old man lived on the fourth floor. After hearing Shen Zhi’s description, Qin Huai nodded. “I should have brought something when coming.”
“I already gave him something for you, just please don’t be angry later.” Shen Zhi gripped her hand tighter.
Shen Zhi had helped her with such a big favor, so getting angry wouldn’t happen. Therefore, she slightly nodded her chin, indicating that she understood.
“We’re here.” Shen Zhi stopped outside a security door painted green and knocked with her knuckles.
Qin Huai looked around. From the outside, the complex easily gave the impression of being dirty, chaotic, and poorly maintained. However, once inside, one would notice that the stair railings were clean, there was no trash in the hallway, and no unnecessary items were placed outside the doors of each household.
Qin Huai lowered her gaze, slightly lowering her eyelashes, her heart beating a little faster.
Too much time had passed, and people who knew the truth were already scattered in different places. All the unknown pieces required Qin Huai to put them together. She was full of curiosity for every unknown module.
After about a minute, the door lock slightly moved.
Hearing the sound, Qin Huai subconsciously tightened her grip on Shen Zhi’s hand. The moment the door opened, her heart jumped up heavily.
“Why are you here?” The girl’s voice was filled with surprise.
Qin Huai looked over, her body slightly stiffened. The person who opened the door was none other than the omega she had seen interacting intimately with Shen Zhi at the school’s cake shop last time.
