The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 74
Han Yishuang noticed the omega beside her stop, followed her line of sight, and a cold look immediately flashed across her eyes.
Not far away, the alpha was standing in the rain, her cheeks drenched. She looked at the two people standing side-by-side, her thin lips gently pressed together, and her lowered eyelashes trying in vain to mask her feelings.
Han Yishuang let out a soft sneer, her heart as clear as day.
They were all alphas; who didn’t understand the other?
The rain was falling heavily now. Coming from the nearest library, her clothes should be soaked to the point of being able to wring out large amounts of water, not just simply dampening the fabric. Such a clumsy method could only deceive the omega in front of her.
Sure enough, the omega next to her, as expected, hurriedly said something to her and walked towards that little A.
Qin Huai quickly walked up to Shen Zhi, raising her wrist high to shield the alpha’s head. “Why are you out in such heavy rain without an umbrella?”
“Senior didn’t tell me you were coming to school,” Shen Zhi’s lips were covered with raindrops as she took the umbrella from the omega’s hand.
“A senior needed to ask me about some lab work temporarily,” Qin Huai released the umbrella handle, letting the alpha take it. “I called you.”
Shen Zhi withdrew her gaze, nodded and said, “Oh.” Then, “Where are the two of you going now?”
“To eat,” Qin Huai said.
Shen Zhi continued to nod, one side of her mouth pursed inward. As if she had made up her mind, she said, “Then Senior, you should hurry. My foot is uncomfortable, so I’ll go back first. You come back early too.”
Upon hearing the alpha say her ankle was still uncomfortable, Qin Huai immediately forgot about going out to eat. She frowned and pondered for a moment, finally pulling the alpha’s wrist to stop slowly in front of Han Yishuang.
“Senior Han, I’m afraid I can’t have dinner with you today,” Qin Huai was already unwilling to eat with Han Yishuang, so her refusal came especially smoothly.
Han Yishuang’s gaze lingered on Qin Huai’s face for a moment, eventually falling on Shen Zhi’s. “Why?”
“I’m worried about her going back alone,” Qin Huai believed this sentence sounded very suggestive; anyone slightly perceptive should understand.
Han Yishuang indeed understood. Under the black brim of the umbrella, her eyes were dark as ink, unreadable. “Fine, we’ll reschedule another day.”
“I won’t be free another day either,” Qin Huai’s brow hadn’t relaxed since just now. With a defeatist thought, she pulled the alpha’s wrist, her fingers intertwining with Shen Zhi’s, their hands locked together. “Senior, you should understand.”
This blatant admission stunned not only Han Yishuang but even Shen Zhi. When she finally reacted, the force with which she gripped the omega’s fingers increased slightly compared to before.
Han Yishuang glanced at their clasped hands, gave a heavy “Hmm” as she left, and then walked away without saying anything else.
Qin Huai breathed a sigh of relief, preparing to release her fingers from between Shen Zhi’s, but the alpha didn’t give her a chance, keeping her fingers firmly locked on her hand.
“Let go,” Qin Huai’s gaze shifted from Shen Zhi’s hand to her face.
The alpha shook her head, her refusal quite frank. “No.”
“If you don’t let go, I can’t help you walk.”
“No.”
Qin Huai was utterly defeated, she stood where she was and actually laughed a little, then couldn’t keep her composure, and the amplitude of her smile grew bigger and bigger. “Alright, then I’ll hold your hand like this all the way back.”
When they got home, Qin Huai was slightly damp. Aside from her shoulder being slightly soaked, the rest of her body was dry and clean. Shen Zhi, however, was drenched like a wet hen. As she stood in the entryway, water dripped onto the once dry floor.
Qin Huai placed the umbrella outside the door and leaned against the wall to change her shoes. “You take a shower first. I’ll make you some ginger tea.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her slippers were correctly put on, and her hand was removed from the wall. Just as she was about to walk toward the kitchen, a pair of firm arms wrapped around her waist from behind.
“Senior, what did you mean today?” Shen Zhi asked, resting her chin on the omega’s shoulder.
Qin Huai disliked this wet feeling, especially since the alpha’s hair behind her was dripping, with water droplets sliding down her neck toward her spine.
“I didn’t mean anything,” Qin Huai didn’t struggle either. “You go take a shower first. Be careful not to catch a cold.”
“Senior, why did you hold my hand today? Was it to use me as a shield to reject Han Yishuang? Have you ever liked Han Yishuang?”
What was all this about? Qin Huai was both amused and exasperated. “If I liked Han Yishuang, what would that have to do with you?”
“Oh, so you don’t like her.”
Qin Huai couldn’t see the alpha’s expression, but she could sense her happiness from the tone. “What is it? Do you have more demands?”
“If Senior is my girlfriend, then helping a girlfriend reject a suitor is expected,” Shen Zhi said slowly.
“What if it’s something else?” Qin Huai teased her.
Upon hearing about another possibility, Shen Zhi immediately raised her voice. “What ‘something else’? I don’t allow anything else.”
“Okay, okay,” Qin Huai said. “Go take a shower first.”
Finally, after much coaxing, Shen Zhi went into the bathroom. Qin Huai went to the kitchen first to boil water, then took a piece of ginger out of the fridge and sliced it. After preparing everything, she went to the bedroom to change into her pajamas.
When Shen Zhi came out of the bathroom, the pungent smell of ginger wafted through the house. Qin Huai was watching TV in the living room. Hearing the bathroom door open, she didn’t turn her head. “Drink something hot first. The medicine is on the table.”
The rain was quite heavy today, and Shen Zhi was so drenched. If she didn’t take medicine, she would definitely catch a cold tomorrow.
Shen Zhi complied obediently. After drinking the ginger tea and taking the medicine, she sat cross-legged with Qin Huai on the sofa.
The rain outside the window had not weakened; instead, it was hitting the window with greater force, the pattering sound sounding particularly harsh. But Qin Huai enjoyed this kind of weather; it allowed her to relax to the maximum extent.
She suddenly remembered a time when it rained, and she returned from her mother’s grave. She had fallen into deep self loathing because of what Qin Zhijing had said. Now, it seemed the truth was not like that at all.
She turned to look at the alpha beside her, her expression serious. “The laboratory you mentioned last night, where is it?”
Shen Zhi had a shower cap wrapped around her head and was wearing green striped pajamas. Having just come out of the bathroom, her skin was very fair and translucent, looking particularly appealing. “It’s on the mountainside of that mountain in Jiangcheng.”
Qin Huai’s eyebrows furrowed tightly. “Can you tell me about the situation that day again?”
Shen Zhi nodded and told Qin Huai everything: how she went there, how she discovered that the person sent by the other party was Qin Zhijing, and what she finally found.
After listening, Qin Huai’s eyebrows did not relax; instead, they furrowed even tighter. “Are you saying that my suppressants were found in Qin Zhijing’s lab?”
Shen Zhi nodded. “Not just yours, but Hao Yan’s too.”
Qin Huai listened, staring at a certain spot, lost in thought.
While Shen Zhi might have mistaken Hao Yan’s pheromones, the alpha who had smelled hers so many times and spent so many heat cycles with her would never mistake her pheromones.
Qin Huai had once read a paper that explained from various angles why an alpha would be sensitive to the pheromones of the omega they marked. Therefore, Shen Zhi definitely wouldn’t be wrong.
But Hao Yan was already dead, and she died on the very mountain Shen Zhi mentioned. Coupled with what Qin Zhijing had said, the connection was clear to her.
Perhaps they were getting closer to the truth.
Qin Huai thought to herself and said to Shen Zhi, “I’ll go there tomorrow.”
The alpha nodded, her tone devoid of hesitation, as if it were a matter of course. “I’ll go with you.”
Qin Huai was uneasy. This matter was significant, and Shen Zhi’s ankle was injured. If both of them could come out safely, that would be great, but what if something happened to Shen Zhi?
“No,” Qin Huai rejected the idea without thinking. “Your foot isn’t convenient. Just stay home and wait for me.”
Shen Zhi grew anxious upon hearing this and immediately stood up, walking a few steps in the gap between the coffee table and the sofa, as if eager to prove herself. “I’m fine.”
Qin Huai was not in the mood to argue about why her foot was fine now after she had acted spoiled and made Qin Huai help her earlier. She just kept shaking her head. “No, it’s too dangerous. I’m worried.”
“If anyone should be worried, it’s me,” Shen Zhi sat back down. “There’s a natural difference between alpha and omega, like in strength. How can I feel safe letting you go in alone?”
“Shen Zhi, there’s one thing I haven’t told you,” Qin Huai was surprisingly calm compared to Shen Zhi’s anxiety.
“What is it?”
Qin Huai: “Why did I know you had a car accident? Because Qin Zhijing called me that day. His words were full of threats. As soon as the call ended, I heard you had a car accident. Shen Zhi, do you understand? He will take your life.”
The omega’s voice was filled with uncontrollable worry when she said this. She was afraid it would be like last time. If Shen Zhi got involved again, and Qin Zhijing went crazy and did something, she was truly terrified.
After speaking, Qin Huai grabbed Shen Zhi’s hand, a look akin to fear appearing in her eyes for the first time. “I am his daughter. No matter how insane he is, he won’t kill me.”
“Huaihuai, are you scared?” Shen Zhi countered, holding Qin Huai’s hand.
Qin Huai nodded, having nothing to deny, just like her affection for Shen Zhi. “I am scared, Shen Zhi. When I heard you were in trouble, I truly went crazy. I was afraid I would never see you again, never hear your voice, and then have to accept the reality of you being forgotten by everyone.”
“Huaihuai, listen to me first,” Shen Zhi’s thumb rubbed against the skin on the back of the other’s hand. No one remains unmoved when their beloved expresses concern for them, and Shen Zhi was no exception. “You say you’re scared, but I am scared too.”
Qin Huai looked up, seeming a little disbelieving.
Shen Zhi gave a self-mocking smile. “What you fear, I also fear. Before meeting you, there weren’t many things in this world that scared me, maybe none. After meeting you, I found that the things I fear keep increasing.”
“From the very beginning, I was afraid of you getting angry, afraid of you being sad, then afraid of you ignoring me, and now I’m afraid of something happening to you. I gradually developed a weakness, but I’m not afraid of it. Because loving you makes me braver.”
