The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 71
On the way back, the streetlights on the side of the road quietly emitted a faint yellow light. As the car drove past, the rustling tree branches reflected on the car window. Shen Zhi kept her head down, her hands placed on her thighs, her fingers nervously twirling together, and a slightly uneasy expression.
Qin Huai occasionally glanced at the rear-view mirror, pretending not to notice the alpha’s discomfort.
“Are you also from Jiangcheng University?” Perhaps the driver also felt the deadly silence in the car and casually asked a question while waiting at a red light.
“Yes.” Shen Zhi was like an agile cheetah, her eyes sparkling: “Master, could you please drop us off inside the university later?”
Jiangcheng University did not have a regulation prohibiting outside vehicles from entering the campus, and this car was just a ride share, so entering the school would be easy.
The countdown for the red light ahead ended, and the yellow light began to flash. While waiting for the green light to illuminate, the surrounding vehicles reignited their engines.
The driver was gripping the steering wheel, just about to agree, when the omega, who had been silent in the back seat, suddenly spoke.
The sky had completely darkened, and the faint yellow light spilled from the glass car window. Half of the omega’s face was toward the window, and the other half toward the car interior. She raised her neck, her shoulders held straight, the curve of her nose slanting down, her lips slightly closed, giving off an air of being difficult to mess with.
“Stop at the destination,” Qin Huai’s voice was flat, but her words were decisive.
The alpha, who had just been deep and quick-witted, immediately retracted her head the next second, drooping down timidly again, looking like a quail. What else could the driver not understand? The alpha in front of him looked formidable, but unexpectedly was so afraid of his wife.
The car finally stopped beneath the apartment building. Qin Huai got out of the car first, and the “slam” when she closed the car door made the alpha, who was unbuckling her seatbelt, flinch, and the buckle snapped shut again.
The car window was covered with a privacy film, so from the outside, you could only see your own reflection. Qin Huai waited for a while but didn’t see anyone get out, so she bent down and tapped on the glass, signaling the alpha inside to hurry up.
That cold face was immediately reflected in the car window.
The driver leaned back in the driver’s seat and joked with the alpha behind him, “Hurry up, don’t let such a beautiful girlfriend wait too long.”
Hearing someone compliment Qin Huai, Shen Zhi immediately perked up. Regarding the compliments from well-meaning outsiders, Shen Zhi was happy to accept them, but the thought of what she was about to face once she got out made her wilt again.
The alpha twitched the corner of her mouth, smiling strainedly like a puppet on a string, “Thank you.”
The car door opened from the inside. Shen Zhi placed one foot on the ground, nervously glancing at Qin Huai, trying to appeal to the omega’s pity for herself. Qin Huai not only ignored her but instead pulled the car door wide open with one hand, resting her arms on the top of the door, and looked directly at Shen Zhi.
Knowing she couldn’t escape tonight, Shen Zhi decided to face the music, bracing herself to get out of the car. Her ankle hadn’t fully healed, and as she closed the car door, her body stumbled.
It was Qin Huai who quickly grabbed her forearm, instantly bringing the two of them much closer.
A familiar scent spread around her nose. The light sandalwood fragrance mixed with the bitter medicinal smell made it easy for Qin Huai to recognize that the alpha in front of her was Shen Zhi.
“Xuejie, I can manage on my own.” Shen Zhi couldn’t figure out Qin Huai’s current mood, so she could only restrain those budding urges.
Qin Huai quietly looked at the alpha’s profile. Shen Zhi’s features were relatively striking; her eyes held a wild, untamable power. When she didn’t smile, she always looked difficult to approach, but once she curved her lips into a smile, she would use her dimples to form a tiny trap. This trap wasn’t effective on everyone, but it always caught Qin Huai off guard.
Noticing the arm twitching in her palm, the omega blinked, slightly tightened her wrist, “No need.”
She didn’t add any softening words, such as “le,” or “ba,” which naturally bridge distance, and then held the alpha’s forearm as she walked toward the apartment building.
The elevator was empty. Shen Zhi was helped to stand in the corner. The lift doors slowly closed, and with the final soft sound, only the two of them remained in the narrow space.
Qin Huai hadn’t spoken, and Shen Zhi naturally didn’t dare to.
She could only vaguely see the omega’s expression through the reflection on the opposite elevator wall, and she was silently planning in her heart how to apologize later to reduce Qin Huai’s anger level.
The two arrived at the apartment door together. Qin Huai released the hand gripping the alpha’s forearm, giving her time to open the door.
Shen Zhi didn’t dawdle, obediently took out the key from her pocket and inserted it into the lock, pulled open the door handle, and stepped back slightly to let Qin Huai enter first. She then followed Qin Huai in and closed the door.
Although she hadn’t been away for long, Qin Huai felt an inexplicable sense of grounded stability standing in the entryway again. As the wall lamp pierced the darkness, all she wanted was to lie down and rest well.
However, this matter would have to be postponed. There was another urgent matter at hand.
When the front door closed, Qin Huai didn’t feel any movement behind her. She turned around to see the alpha standing by the switch, head lowered, wearing a face that seemed ready to accept any scolding or beating.
“Xuejie, I was wrong,” Shen Zhi admitted and apologized.
Qin Huai was a little surprised by her attitude towards admitting fault, “What did you do wrong?”
A prolonged silence ensued. The living room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
The alpha in front of her had her head down, her hair casually tied into a ponytail hanging to the side. Her dark eyebrows were furrowed into a tight knot. Her complexion was almost the same color as the white bandage wrapped around her forehead, looking pitiful and making one reluctant to question her even half a word.
But Qin Huai was determined to get an answer today, so she hardened her heart and pretended not to notice, “Say something.”
The alpha’s lips were dry. She reached out her tongue to moisten them, then stepped forward and proactively grabbed Qin Huai’s arm, “Whatever you say I did wrong, I did wrong. Don’t be angry, okay?”
Qin Huai’s temper finally flared up. Her eyes coldly swept over, just as Shen Zhi was looking at her. Their eyes met silently in the air, like a closely contested game of chess.
Ultimately, Shen Zhi backed down. Since Qin Huai was giving her a chance to explain, even with a cold face, she couldn’t afford not to seize the opportunity.
“I promise to tell you first whenever I get injured in the future,” Shen Zhi stated firmly.
Qin Huai hummed, nodded, and continued to ask her, “And then?”
Shen Zhi hadn’t expected there to be more. Her brows furrowed into a small “river” shape. Her lips moved but she didn’t speak, then she pursed her lips, hesitating, “Is there anything else?”
It was already this moment, and she still wasn’t willing to tell the truth.
Qin Huai was amused by the anger. She scoffed briefly, pulled back the arm the alpha was holding, and as she lifted her foot to walk away, she only left one sentence, “Figure it out yourself.”
Shen Zhi had been at the hospital since the incident and hadn’t had time to change her clothes. Qin Huai went to the bedroom first to fetch her pajamas and hung them in the bathroom. Considering that she was currently inconvenient with her feet, she pulled a stool from the dining table and placed it under the showerhead. Only after all this was set up did she leave.
Although she had a lot of questions for Shen Zhi, she still needed to let the person get clean first. Qin Huai returned to the living room, turned on the kitchen light, and said to the person sitting on the sofa, “Go take a shower quickly.”
Shen Zhi called out “Got it” and got up from the sofa, lifting her injured foot, trying to hop to the bathroom.
Qin Huai stood by the kitchen doorway, arms crossed, watching with a cold expression, unmoved.
It was only after the bathroom door was locked that Qin Huai straightened up and entered the kitchen. Her finger paused as she was about to light the stove.
Shen Zhi had just been in a car accident today. Was it really okay to press her like this? But if she didn’t ask today, it would be much harder to find a chance later. She was already unable to resist Shen Zhi’s acts of trying to evoke pity and playing miserable. Furthermore, with the passage of time, if many things weren’t made clear, they wouldn’t be able to genuinely accept each other, and then they might truly reach the stage of mutual dislike and weariness.
“Beep!”
Qin Huai pressed her finger down. The induction cooker flashed red numbers, requiring a selection to be confirmed. Shen Zhi’s kitchen was very tidy, and there was no trace of oil stains in the room. Even though the owner knew how to cook, she was often too lazy to do so. The few times she did were when Qin Huai came over.
Qin Huai placed the pot full of water on the induction cooker, selected the boiling water option, and turned around to open the refrigerator door.
The refrigerator, besides eggs and oranges, contained many vegetables and pre-cut meats, all neatly covered with plastic wrap on disposable plates. Qin Huai casually pulled out one that was fish. She didn’t know how to cook it so she put it back and took out another plate.
It was fish again.
Qin Huai took out several more, one after another, as if she didn’t believe it, holding one in her hand, and placed them all on the cutting board.
Even though she had a premonition, Qin Huai was still stunned. None of the raw foods in the refrigerator were ones she didn’t like.
No one would refuse to be constantly remembered by someone. The more trivial things are in life, the more they test a person’s observation skills.
She liked being cared for in this way, starting from clothing, food, housing, and warmth, supporting each other and peacefully living out their lives together.
The pot of water on the induction cooker had been pushed to the edge. Qin Huai reached out and nudged the handle toward the center. Steam beat against the glass lid, and white water inside gurgled and bubbled.
Qin Huai pressed the induction cooker switch off, and the boiling bubbles inside immediately stopped.
It couldn’t just end like this.
Qin Huai thought, even if they had a fight over this matter today, it would be better than suspecting each other later, and then she would have to watch Shen Zhi do these things for others, being so thorough and meticulous.
How could that be allowed?
Once Qin Huai made up her mind, she wouldn’t hesitate for a second. She picked a few vegetables from the cutting board and put the rest back into the refrigerator. Just as she was closing the cabinet door, a sound of “Ah” suddenly came from the bathroom.
Qin Huai’s alarm bells went off. She disregarded everything else and ran from the kitchen to the bathroom.
