The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 65
Qin Huai didn’t do much experimentation all morning. Her ears were filled with Han Yishuang’s incessant chattering, which gave her a headache. When lunchtime arrived, she took advantage of Han Yishuang’s trip to the restroom, grabbed her bag, and left without looking back.
As the elevator gradually descended, Qin Huai visibly relaxed. This was the first time she regretted not having refused her advisor’s suggestion at the time. Han Yishuang was mostly normal in public, but privately, when it was just the two of them, she was extremely talkative it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to describe her as a completely different person.
The elevator stopped on the first floor. There weren’t many people in the academic building on a rest day. When Qin Huai stepped onto the empty hall floor, she could even hear a slight echo. As she stood at the entrance of the building, she originally planned to go to the cafeteria for lunch, but her footsteps paused slightly just after descending the stairs. An Alpha walking very awkwardly in the distance was slowly approaching.
The sunlight was blinding. The magnificent academic building cast a black shadow on the ground. Shen Zhi was between the shadow and the light. Her upper body was clad in a formal white shirt stained with dust and grass clippings, and her black trousers on the lower body were wrinkled, with mud clinging to the cuffs.
Qin Huai frowned, wondering how she had managed to get herself into such a state after only half a day.
Walking vigorously under the sun was not an easy task. Shen Zhi was completely soaked. The fabric of the white shirt clung tightly to the skin on her back, making her feel slick and uncomfortable. When she saw Qin Huai standing not far away, Shen Zhi’s face lit up, and the heavy stone pressing on her chest finally dropped.
She was about to open her mouth to call Qin Huai’s name, wanting to tell her everything, but as soon as her mouth moved, her mind went blank.
This academic building was newly built, and magnificent and spectacular were its synonyms. The Omega stood right in the center, slender and fragile, as if any small gust of wind could knock her down.
Could she accept that her father was ready to kill her at any time?
How should she voice this matter to minimize the damage to Qin Huai?
Shen Zhi’s gaze was heavier than ever. As she took the first step, she stopped, stunned.
She couldn’t approach, so Qin Huai had to take the initiative to close the distance. Shen Zhi watched Qin Huai stop in front of her. The impatience in Qin Huai’s eyes was about to spill out, but the worry hidden in the corners of her eyes couldn’t be concealed either. She grabbed Shen Zhi’s forearm with one hand and asked with an unpleasant expression, “What happened?”
Shen Zhi looked down at her dirty clothes and simplified the explanation: “I accidentally fell.”
“You don’t look like you just fell.” Qin Huai’s gaze dropped to the Alpha’s ankle. “It looks more like you were caught stealing a kiss and fled in a panic.”
Although Qin Huai’s words were harsh, they weren’t entirely wrong. When Shen Zhi descended the mountain, the suit restricted her movements, so she took off her jacket and unbuttoned the top button of her shirt. Paired with her perpetually indifferent face and her limping gait, she indeed looked a bit like a loafer.
“I’m here, who would I steal from?” Shen Zhi asked.
Qin Huai couldn’t stand Shen Zhi’s habit of flirting; it was irritating to just look at. But leaving a semi-crippled person here felt a bit unethical, so she chose a different way to retaliate.
She kicked Shen Zhi’s less-functional leg, saying, “You should just break your leg and lock you up.”
Shen Zhi hissed. The Omega’s other hand immediately went to support her, afraid that her own movement would cause Shen Zhi to fall.
Shen Zhi naturally knew what Qin Huai was thinking and allowed her to support her with peace of mind. The two walked forward slowly side by side.
Although Qin Huai was impatient and clearly annoyed by this burden beside her, Shen Zhi could feel the hand gripping her forearm was tight, and her palm was scalding hot.
Her soft-hearted Omega, how sad would she be when she found out?
Perhaps noticing Shen Zhi’s gaze, Qin Huai blinked, asking with an expression that dared her to keep looking or she would let go, “What are you looking at?”
Caught in the act, Shen Zhi didn’t feel guilty at all. Her gaze became even more candid. Her eyes held a hint of playfulness, but her tone was unusually serious, “Huaihuai, what would you do if someone betrayed you?”
Qin Huai stared straight ahead, not speaking.
Shen Zhi didn’t urge her, following her pace as they slowly walked towards the campus exit.
“Nothing much.” Stepping into the shaded avenue, Qin Huai’s expression was a little strange, with a sense of “I knew it” ease. “If I don’t want them, I don’t want them.”
“It’s not like I can’t live without her.”
The last sentence was spoken as if stating a simple, insignificant fact. Shen Zhi was about to speak when Qin Huai roughly interrupted, “Say one more word, and you walk back by yourself.”
Shen Zhi kept her word and didn’t say anything until they got into the elevator. Then, she spoke, “The key is in my pocket.”
Qin Huai released her forearm, letting her lean against the elevator wall, increasing the distance between them.
Shen Zhi was pulling the key out of her pocket and naturally didn’t notice Qin Huai’s movement. By the time the key was dangling on her finger, the elevator door had opened.
The distance to her home wasn’t too far. Shen Zhi held onto the elevator door, one foot already out of the elevator. Noticing that the Omega behind her hadn’t followed, she turned around and looked at her, puzzled.
Qin Huai stood near the buttons, avoiding eye contact, and said, “I won’t see you in.”
The elevator had been open for a while and was slowly beginning to close.
Qin Huai spoke plainly, “Your ankle is sprained. Remember to apply an ice pack when you get back. If it doesn’t get better, remember to go to the hospital. Be careful when resting, don’t just flop onto the bed, watch out for secondary injuries.”
If Shen Zhi didn’t understand now, she was truly foolish. Qin Huai was trying to distance herself from her.
How could she allow that?
After Qin Huai finished speaking, she thought the elevator door would close by itself, but then Shen Zhi suddenly put both hands on the door, preventing it from closing. Qin Huai’s eyes widened in fright, “Are you crazy? Let go!”
Qin Huai was worried that the elevator sensor would malfunction and clamp down on Shen Zhi’s hands, which would have unimaginable consequences. But Shen Zhi didn’t care.
The elevator door opened again, and the outside view that had been blocked came back into Qin Huai’s sight.
The Alpha stood in the elevator doorway, her hands hanging down, her eyes full of dejection, “Huaihuai, don’t you want me anymore?”
Qin Huai didn’t speak.
The Alpha took another step, walking from the elevator entrance to stand in front of Qin Huai. Her voice was slightly hoarse, “Or are you scared, student sister?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Qin Huai suddenly raised her eyes.
Shen Zhi brushed her hair aside and tucked it behind her ear with a gentle and affectionate gesture, “Student sister, I’m like this, what else can I do?”
After Shen Zhi opened the door, she pointed to the sofa in the living room, asking Qin Huai to sit down first, while she limped towards the kitchen to find some water to entertain her guest. Outside, it was fine, but once inside this private and ambiguous space, Qin Huai felt completely uncomfortable.
This discomfort existed only within her; outsiders couldn’t perceive it. As soon as her gaze swept across any corner, her mind would involuntarily recall the absurd times she had spent with Shen Zhi before.
Qin Huai didn’t dare to look anywhere else and could only stare straight ahead obediently. However, letting an injured person with a sprained ankle go to the kitchen was truly inappropriate. Qin Huai watched the awkwardly wobbling injured person and got up from the sofa.
“Go sit on the sofa.” Qin Huai walked alongside Shen Zhi without stopping.
The kitchen was near the balcony, and the bright light illuminated every corner. The white tiled walls reflected a warm shadow. Qin Huai walked to the refrigerator and squatted down. She opened the bottom cabinet door and, as expected, found several ice trays inside.
Qin Huai picked up one box and held it in her hand. Her fingertips were sticky with water, and the skin was frozen red. She seemed oblivious, stood up after closing the cabinet door, and walked to the cutting board.
The plastic ice trays had been in the freezer for a long time, and the sides were stuck together, making them difficult to separate. Qin Huai frowned, ignoring the bone-chilling cold of the ice, trying to pry them apart. Her arm was almost out of strength, but she still couldn’t separate them.
She had no choice but to go to the bathroom, get a towel, cover the ice with it, and walk back to the living room sofa, handing the object over, “Try this.”
Shen Zhi squinted, the dimples on both sides of her cheeks slightly indented, making it easy for people to lower their guard, “Thank you, student sister.”
The ice in her hand was taken away, and the temperature of her fingertips slowly returned. Just as Qin Huai was about to sit on the sofa, Shen Zhi suddenly grabbed her hand.
Qin Huai lowered her eyes. The Alpha’s palm was slightly large, and there was still a small gap when gripping all of her fingers. The finger bones were slender and clean, without any blemishes.
Qin Huai blinked subtly, using force on her wrist to try and shake off the Alpha’s hand, but failed.
Helplessly, she had to compose herself and try to use a stern expression to intimidate the Alpha, “Let go.”
“I’m just worried that my sister’s hand will be cold from helping me with the ice,” Shen Zhi held her hand tighter. “It would be a pity if they got frostbite.”
The scent of sandalwood was elegant and subtle, like a trickle flowing into a small stream. Qin Huai froze in place. The Alpha was sitting on the sofa, a step lower than her. Her movements when kneading her hand were gentle, but this gentleness was, ultimately, provocative, especially when the Alpha’s fingernail grazed her palm, which didn’t hurt but tickled.
“Shen Zhi, retract your pheromones.” Qin Huai commanded, flexing the fingers of the hand hanging by the seam of her trousers.
The Alpha looked up, her gaze uninhibited and unrestrained, “I’ve entered my rut.”
Qin Huai initially thought she was joking, but when the pheromones in the air became thicker and more dominant, she finally believed it.
Alphas in rut have a strong urge to destroy and invade. They especially like to use pheromones to mark their territory, isolating anything that doesn’t belong to them, while simultaneously becoming highly dependent on their Omega, unwilling to let their mate leave even for a second.
“You let go first. I’ll go buy inhibitors.” Qin Huai pulled her arm back, wanting to increase the distance between herself and the Alpha.
But an Alpha in rut was incomparable to their normal state. Shen Zhi was like a highly vigilant wolf; any slight disturbance could make her enter hunting mode instantly.
“You should know what I need more than an inhibitor, shouldn’t you?” Shen Zhi raised one hand and placed it on the Omega’s slender waist, using her hand as a ruler to measure the narrowness of her lower back, then exclaimed in surprise, “So thin.”
Qin Huai didn’t dare to struggle, fearing it would provoke the Alpha’s greater predatory instinct.
Shen Zhi curved her eyes, exerted force with her palm, pulled Qin Huai towards her, and then half-forced her to sit on her lap. She curved her eyes, smiling like a spring breeze, but the sandalwood pheromones intensified from a sweet scent to a spicy one.
“Let’s negotiate a condition.” The dimples on Shen Zhi’s cheeks indented slightly. “Don’t leave my sight until I get better.”
Qin Huai straddled the Alpha’s thighs, facing her, her hands gripping Shen Zhi’s sleeves tightly, worried about falling off.
She looked so easily bullied, but after Shen Zhi finished speaking, a chill climbed up her brow, and her eyes held an indiscernible coldness. She raised one of Shen Zhi’s arms, her fingertips sliding across Shen Zhi’s face. Just as Shen Zhi rejoiced, thinking this was a sign of compromise, Qin Huai raised her palm and slapped her without warning, “Shen Zhi, who gave you the guts to provoke me like this?”
