The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 47
After the Qingming Festival, the rain that had been falling for several consecutive days slowly diminished. Without the noisy sound of raindrops, Jiangcheng returned to its usual hustle and bustle.
Qin Huai had been preparing experimental data these past few days. The framework for the paper her advisor suggested starting on last time was essentially finalized, but information about the side effects of the first batch of inhibitors was hard to find due to the long time interval. Recently, Qin Huai had been running between the library and the lab, so busy that she barely had time to rest.
She certainly had no time to think about extraneous things.
Finally, on Sunday afternoon, she managed to free up some time to tidy the messy dorm room. Qin Huai stacked the books piled on her desk, and just as she was about to wipe the table, the phone resting on her bed suddenly rang.
Qin Huai stopped what she was doing and walked to the bed. The phone screen flashed with the ringing, displaying the three characters: Han Yishuang.
A hint of confusion crossed Qin Huai’s eyes. She pressed the answer button, “Senior Sister?”
“Huaihuai, it’s me, Han Yishuang.”
The Alpha’s voice on the other end of the line was cheerful and gentle, carrying a unique sense of familiarity.
Qin Huai relaxed her furrowed brow and hummed in acknowledgment, returning to the desk. With one hand holding the phone and the other resting on the stack of books, she said, “I know.”
If it were anyone else receiving such a curt reply, it would surely dampen their enthusiasm, but Han Yishuang acted as if she hadn’t heard it, maintaining her initial tone and continuing, “Huaihuai, the advisor asked us to go to the office. I’ll wait for you downstairs at your dorm building.”
“Now?” A flash of displeasure crossed Qin Huai’s eyes. The finger resting on the textbook stopped moving. “Did she say what it’s about?”
Having been peers with Qin Huai for a long time, Han Yishuang knew her junior sister’s habits like the back of her hand and knew she was reluctant to work overtime. She coaxed her, “I already asked for you. The advisor said it’s good news.”
Qin Huai: “…”
Knowing it was the advisor’s intention and that Han Yishuang was just relaying the message, Qin Huai walked to the wardrobe and rummaged through the black, white, and gray clothes hanging there, letting out a long sigh.
Qin Huai finally chose a pair of gray wide-leg sweatpants and a long white T-shirt. She grabbed her phone and headed out.
The sun was strong today, and the greenery planted along both sides of the teaching building had a somewhat listless, wilted look. Han Yishuang stood in the shadow of the teaching building, staring in the direction of the Omega dorms, her face devoid of any expression.
On the nearby tree lined path, willow branches swayed back and forth with the natural breeze. Qin Huai simply twisted her hair into a bun. Her figure was already slender, and the loose clothes made her appear very casual, but if one got closer, they would see there was no casualness at all her expression was utterly foul.
Han Yishuang stood in the distance, frowning, her eyes fixed on the approaching Omega. As they drew closer, the muscles in her face instantly relaxed, the tightly strained look completely vanishing.
Not until Qin Huai stopped in front of her did Han Yishuang curve her eyes and ask, “Your mouth could hang a bottle of soy sauce.”
This was a way of saying that Qin Huai’s expression was terrible.
Qin Huai lifted her eyelids and glanced at her mildly. “Are you happy to work overtime?” she asked.
“Happy.” Han Yishuang hooked the corner of her lips and said slowly, “Seeing you makes me happy.”
Qin Huai’s beautiful dark eyebrows furrowed. She looked at the Alpha in front of her with confusion. “Are you suffering from heatstroke?”
“No,” Han Yishuang denied.
“Then why do I feel like you’re talking nonsense?”
Han Yishuang: “…”
Qin Huai lifted her eyelids and took the lead to walk forward. “Let’s go, don’t keep the professor waiting.”
The advisor was already waiting in the office. Qin Huai knocked on the door and, upon hearing a sound from inside, pushed the door open.
The Omega advisor sat behind the desk, which was piled with many overlapping documents. Seeing her proud students enter, she first smiled, then pointed to the stools and said, “Have a seat first.”
Qin Huai sat down beside the desk, silently watching the advisor tidy the surface.
“How’s the research topic coming along lately?” the Omega advisor asked Qin Huai first, with a smile in her eyes.
Regarding academic issues, no matter how bad Qin Huai’s mood was, she could always articulate a clear line of thought. She suppressed the irritation in her heart and briefly explained the situation to the advisor.
The advisor nodded, offered a few suggestions, and then asked Han Yishuang.
Unlike Qin Huai’s aloofness, Han Yishuang, as an Alpha, had a welcoming presence. She first expressed her care for the advisor, and then reported her progress.
After listening to the accounts of her two students, the advisor finally stated the purpose of calling them over today: “I called you here today because a conference will be held in Ycheng on Tuesday. Both of your research directions are very suitable for this conference, and I plan to take both of you.”
Such conferences usually invite many experts and established figures in the field. Everyone exchanges views, raises questions, and promotes the development of the field.
Qin Huai had wanted to go to such a place for a long time but never had the right opportunity. Now that one had presented itself, the stiff lines of her posture finally softened, and she spoke the only intimate words she had directed at the teacher since entering the room: “Thank you, Professor.”
“Finally happy,” the advisor said good-naturedly, pointing at Qin Huai to Han Yishuang.
After discussing the main issue, Qin Huai and Han Yishuang left together. When they reached the elevator, Han Yishuang pressed the down button. “Let’s grab a meal together later.”
It was around five o’clock, which was earlier than Qin Huai’s usual dinner time. Her gaze fell on the flashing numbers of the elevator, and she gave a cold refusal, “No need.”
“I wanted to discuss this conference with you,” the elevator stopped in front of them, and the door opened from the middle. “Are you really not going?”
The cafeteria had relatively few diners at five o’clock. Han Yishuang bought a plate of rice, and Qin Huai, not being hungry, simply bought a cup of congee. They sat opposite each other in a corner, neither speaking.
Han Yishuang stirred the rice with her chopsticks, then abruptly brought up, “Why haven’t I seen the little junior sister looking for you lately?”
She was referring to Shen Zhi.
Qin Huai shook her head while biting the straw. “I don’t know.”
“She probably found a new distraction. Kids are all like that; novelty always takes precedence with them,” Han Yishuang said, then put a spoonful of rice into her mouth. “Don’t be sad.”
Qin Huai had bought black rice congee. It might have been straight from the pot and hadn’t cooled down yet. She took a sip, and the heat traveled down her throat to her chest, making her whole face wrinkle up from the scalding sensation. “What do you mean?”
Seeing the Omega’s face fall, Han Yishuang smiled ingratiatingly. “It’s nothing. Maybe the little junior sister is just busy. But Huaihuai, you need to understand one thing: it’s hard to raise an Alpha, let alone one like Shen Zhi.”
The congee today might have had too much sugar added by the chef, which Qin Huai found a bit sickening, and she lost interest in eating any more. She took a tissue from her pocket, her expression as inscrutable as ever.
“If you’re going to talk about this, I’m leaving.” Qin Huai simply wiped her mouth and stood up, holding the half-drunk congee.
“Junior sister?” Han Yishuang couldn’t figure out the Omega’s thoughts and instinctively stood up.
Qin Huai’s eyelashes were very dark. When she looked at someone seriously, her eyelashes would automatically form a liner-like effect, giving her a strong sense of distance. “I don’t know how Shen Zhi offended you. If it was her fault, I apologize to you. If she did nothing wrong, then I ask Senior Sister to retract what you just said.”
Shen Zhi was an Alpha, and she never needed anyone else’s judgment.
After Qin Huai finished speaking, she walked away without looking back.
Han Yishuang sat in her original spot. The corners of her lips, which had been curved, gradually straightened as the Omega’s back receded. She picked up a piece of meat from her tray with her chopsticks and casually mixed it with the scattered white rice. Finding it tasteless, she scraped it around a couple of times, then suddenly laughed and looked over again.
There were two large trash cans beside the cafeteria door. The Omega stopped next to the trash cans, bending her back, her shoulder blades pushing against the thin fabric of her clothes. When she stood up, the line of her neck was excessively beautiful, and the inhibitor patch on her scent gland was resolutely stuck in its original place.
Han Yishuang propped up her chin, narrowed her eyes slightly, and sincerely sighed in her heart.
What a beautiful scent gland.
After leaving the cafeteria, Qin Huai carried a flicker of anger in her heart. This spark of anger was originally small, but with the addition of alcohol (metaphorical, from the interaction), it grew fiercer and fiercer.
She didn’t know why, but she pulled out her phone and sent a message to the Alpha she hadn’t contacted in days.
[I’m waiting for you at the hotel where we first met.]
She didn’t have anything to bring from the dorm, so Qin Huai carried her phone and walked toward the school gate. She didn’t need any response from Shen Zhi, so she didn’t care if Shen Zhi replied to her message.
After successfully checking into a room, Qin Huai found the room according to the number and took a photo to send to Shen Zhi. Finally, as she approached the door, she hesitated for a few seconds, then tossed the room card onto the carpet, took another picture, sent it again, and then closed the door.
The weather was hot today, and Qin Huai had broken out in a sweat on the way. As soon as she entered the room, she started taking off her clothes to shower.
The sound of the water in the bathroom was loud, drowning out all other noises, including the sound of someone opening the door and entering.
Qin Huai had her eyes closed, rinsing the shampoo foam from her head, when the bathroom door opened from the outside.
She was too lazy to open her eyes and responded casually, “Go outside first.”
“No,” Shen Zhi practically closed the bathroom’s glass door immediately. She looked at the Omega in front of her through the hazy steam.
Although Qin Huai’s figure was slender and frail, it was very well-proportioned, and the curve of her chest, though small, was not to be overlooked.
Shen Zhi swallowed the saliva in her throat and slowly walked up to Qin Huai, regardless of the falling shower water wetting her clothes. She wrapped her arms around Qin Huai, embracing her from behind.
“What did you mean by throwing the room card at the door?” the Alpha asked heavily. “And specifically sending me a message.”
The Alpha’s embrace was very warm and large, completely enveloping the Omega. Qin Huai opened her eyes under the water curtain and bent her elbow to push some distance between them. “Stay away from me. Stand by the bathroom door and wait for me to finish showerng.”
“Why?”
“This is punishment for a disobedient Alpha.”
