The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 35
“No.” Qin Huai pressed her safety goggles onto the bridge of her nose, adjusted the frame with her middle finger, and refused completely.
Qin Huai had spent an entire afternoon gathering data and finally had new progress today. She was mostly silent during her experiments, often pressing her thin lips together, neck bowed, watching the liquid slosh in the container through the cold glass. But today was different; Qin Huai explained nearly every step to the Alpha behind her, her pace slightly slow, her meaning concise.
When her throat became dry from speaking, she took off her safety goggles and said with a hint of fatigue in her eyes, “Watch it yourself for a while, I’m going to get some water.”
With that, she rubbed her nose bridge, which felt sore from the pressure of the goggles, and left.
Next to the water dispenser in the changing room was a table with a few chairs placed casually around it. Qin Huai sat down, silently drinking water. She had finished organizing her data at past three in the morning and woke up at six to print documents, so she felt heavy-headed and under slept today. She could barely concentrate during the experiment just now, but now, as the hot water’s steam warmed her nerves, her eyelids involuntarily started to close.
The phone in her locker buzzed twice.
Qin Huai got up, rubbed her eyes, and walked in a daze to answer the call.
She leaned against the locker door, eyes half-closed, her voice a little heavy, “Hello.”
“Is that Huai Huai?”
The voice on the other end carried the characteristic steadiness of a middle-aged person, a hint of joy in the final syllable contrasting with it.
Qin Huai’s wandering consciousness suddenly returned. She took the phone away from her ear to look at it again, then her sluggish mood completely vanished, and her voice became more energetic, “Teacher Zhou, it’s me.”
“Shen Zhi gave me your number, I hope it’s the right one.” Zhou Yue said enthusiastically, “Are you free this week? I’d like to invite you over to my place, did Shen Zhi tell you?”
Qin Huai walked to the chair and sat down, turning on the speakerphone. “She did, but this week, I ” she subconsciously paused for a few seconds, considering how to refuse.
“Huai Huai, wait for me to finish first.” The person on the other end, completely oblivious to Qin Huai’s discomfort, unusually interrupted, “I’ve found some new clues regarding Estrous Amnesia Syndrome. Come to my house on Sunday, and we’ll talk.”
Hearing that it was about the medical condition, the slight discomfort in Qin Huai’s heart completely disappeared.
She sat up straight, her clean fingers gripping the porcelain cup, making her whole hand appear especially pale. She lowered her eyelashes, blinked slowly in the swirling mist, and agreed.
After the call ended, the changing room finally fell silent. Qin Huai turned off the screen and pursed her lips to blow on the steaming water.
Tiny ripples spread across the water’s surface, one chasing the other until they vanished.
Qin Huai suppressed the surge of impatience in her chest, took a deep breath, and stood up from the chair with an audible “whoosh.” She tucked her phone back into the locker, ready to head to the lab.
Instead of wasting emotions thinking about random things, she’d rather put all her feelings into the experiment.
At least the moment the experiment succeeds, there is a payoff.
Qin Huai twisted the doorknob, and the moment the door opened, the expression on her face abruptly turned cold.
In the hallway separated by just one door, Hao Yan was half-pressed against the door panel, her chin tilted up, looking thoughtfully at Qin Huai.
She was about half a head shorter than Qin Huai, her upturned lips set in a straight line, and her eyes held a hint of confusion.
Neither of the two Omegas spoke, and the white tiles reflected cold shadows.
After a long while, Qin Huai narrowed her eyes, stared at her steadily for a moment, then turned and walked away.
She hadn’t taken many steps when the Omega moved her feet, faced Qin Huai’s back, and suddenly asked, “What is Estrous Amnesia Syndrome?”
Sure enough, she had been overheard.
Qin Huai didn’t turn around, responding in a cold voice, “I have no obligation to tell you.”
Back in the lab, Qin Huai became busy again, not stopping until around five in the afternoon, when she started packing up for dinner.
Shen Zhi hadn’t spoken the entire afternoon, following closely behind Qin Huai, only speaking when everyone else had left the lab. As Qin Huai was putting away the equipment, she said, “Senior, I have class tomorrow, so I won’t be coming over for a bit.”
“Got it.” Qin Huai stood by the sink, rinsing test tubes in her hand.
The Omega was very slender, her white lab coat buttoned up neatly, unlike some Omegas who sought beauty by specifically altering the waistline. She was bent over, her legs, encased in black trousers, were slim and straight, and her hips were nicely curved.
Shen Zhi blinked imperceptibly and began to charm, “Senior, are you going to my house on Saturday?”
“No.”
“But my mother said you already agreed.” Shen Zhi stood close to Qin Huai.
The water was rushing, and the test tube was spotless.
Qin Huai put it back in its place and offered a different reason, “That was agreeing to your mother, not to you.”
“Why won’t you agree to me?”
The Alpha always lifted her smiling eyes when she spoke, appearing innocent and harmless. Except during her rut, she never emitted an aggressive scent; she was always slow and steady, making people feel particularly relaxed. Qin Huai’s hands were wet with water, and she answered unintentionally, “Because you’re not well-behaved.”
“Then how can I be considered well-behaved?”
Qin Huai turned her head and looked over unexpectedly.
The orange-yellow light streamed through the glass window, coating the lab’s glass equipment with a golden hue. Shen Zhi’s eyes were as black as the midnight sky, vast and boundless, her pupils reflecting a tiny figure.
Qin Huai was immersed in it, gazing up at she knew not whether it was those eyes or her own reflection within them.
Shen Zhi always had a very safe demeanor. This demeanor often made people overlook her appearance and think her personality was particularly reliable.
But only Qin Huai knew that wasn’t the case.
During that one clear-headed rut, the Alpha’s hands were tightly gripping her shoulders. The sandalwood scent surged forward, entwining fiercely and inseparably with the orange scent with an unyielding force. Her body trembled and wanted to escape because of the teeth that had pierced her scent gland, but the Alpha pressed her back from behind, the overwhelming pheromones enveloping her, tightly controlling her on the bed.
Even though her forearms were covered in painful scratch marks, the Alpha wouldn’t let go.
Qin Huai’s heart thumped, and an unknown emotion, like water spilled on paper, spread and soaked a large area.
She called out her name, unsure whom she was warning, “Shen Zhi, you have a fiancée.”
Then, Qin Huai left the lab with wet hands.
It was already past six when she returned to her dorm. Disturbed by Shen Zhi, Qin Huai had completely lost her appetite for dinner, so she changed into her pajamas and lay on the bed.
Qin Huai had been a light sleeper since she was very young; the slightest movement could keep her awake all night.
She tossed and turned in bed, and just as her consciousness was starting to blur, the phone under her pillow buzzed twice.
She didn’t need to guess who it was.
Qin Huai felt for her phone and glanced at it. Shen Zhi’s reply was concise.
[Shen Zhi: Don’t worry, I’ll solve it.]
Qin Huai half opened her eyes, typed a few characters, deleted them, and then closed her eyes to sleep.
