The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 14
The light streamed obliquely through the window, making the dust motes floating in the air almost visible.
Qin Huai was still wearing the white hoodie. After the turmoil of last night, the clothes were wrinkled. She sat in the sunlight, yet there was no color in her face; her skin was almost corpse white, and she appeared somewhat distraught and exhausted.
She, as an Omega, accepted her heat period, knowing it was a normal physiological process for an Omega. She didn’t mind if she became less than human or acted like an irrational beast during that time; she could lock herself in her room because she knew she was a person, capable of controlling her desire, not someone to be taken advantage of.
What she could not accept was going out like a lunatic during her heat, randomly finding an Alpha for a temporary mark that would truly turn her into an animal only capable of venting.
After the female Omega doctor finished speaking, the keyboard on the desk clattered as she typed. While preparing the examination forms, she said, “Go for a few tests first.”
When the doctor mentioned the compatibility score, Qin Huai’s mind went blank. Now, with a piece of her soul missing, she vaguely hummed in response. As the sound of the keyboard ceased, she subconsciously felt it was time to leave and mechanically thanked the doctor. Her movements were exceptionally smooth, every step flawless.
The distance from the desk to the door was short—three or four quick steps would get her out. But Qin Huai walked very slowly down this short path. She was processing, trying her best to think of a solution that would satisfy both sides.
Finally, just as she reached the office door, the dragging footsteps stopped. Qin Huai took a deep breath and then turned around. Her movements were slow due to her exhaustion, which had not yet subsided. She managed to control her voice, like someone trapped in a snare at night waiting to be rescued, and asked, “What if I remove my scent gland?”
The scratch of the pen on paper stopped. The doctor put down her pen and looked directly at her. A beam of light filtered through the window and happened to fall on the Omega, making her already pale complexion as thin as paper, seemingly about to collapse in the sunlight. The doctor averted her eyes in discomfort, her lips moving. Before she could speak, the Omega not far away suddenly let out a laugh.
Qin Huai was undoubtedly beautiful and good-looking, but she was usually too cold, which easily made people feel that she was unapproachable. Her current smile was like the last patch of snow melting in the sun, yet it didn’t come from the heart; it was more of a mockery.
She stood still for a moment, tugged at the hem of her clothes, and then slowly apologized to the doctor, “I’m sorry to have troubled you.”
Afterward, she turned and left without hesitation.
Qin Huai turned the corner near the door and completely failed to notice Shen Zhi standing nearby. It wasn’t until she exited the department door and a patient who had just finished surgery was being wheeled in on a surgical cart, moving towards her, that Qin Huai reacted slowly. Just as they were about to collide, a pair of hands suddenly covered her shoulders.
Through the thick material of her clothes, Qin Huai couldn’t feel the temperature of those hands, but the only thing she could feel was the firm grip on her shoulder.
The narrow surgical bed rushed past her. The hurried footsteps of the nurses and the anxious desire of the family members to follow suddenly woke her up. Her scattered gaze gradually focused on Shen Zhi: “Why are you here?”
Near the entrance of the two departments, many people undergoing rehabilitation were taking walks in their blue striped hospital gowns. Their chatting was neither too loud nor too soft, not enough to disturb those recuperating.
Shen Zhi said nothing. Her palms slid down from Qin Huai’s shoulders and landed on her wrists, then fiercely dragged her by the wrist toward the emergency exit stairs.
The hospital’s layout was very sensible; the two departments faced each other, leaving a large area in the middle for patients to relax. There were four elevators near the windows, and further down was the emergency exit.
Shen Zhi roughly used her knee to push open the door and then closed it behind them with a reverse swing of her arm. She never let go of Qin Huai’s wrist throughout the process.
The stairwell was chilly, filled with a strong smell of smoke.
The pain in her wrist made Qin Huai’s eyebrows slightly furrow. She was about to try to break free from the restraint, but when she looked up, she swallowed everything back down her throat.
The Alpha was tall and, due to her frequent exercise, exuded a strong sense of pressure. She slowly approached, making Qin Huai involuntarily back up until her spine hit the wall. The Alpha’s eyes were dark like ink. At such close proximity, Qin Huai felt like she was about to be swallowed by the darkness. It was only when her shoulder blades were pressed against the wall that she reacted, asking in a cold tone, “Do you know what you’re doing?”
After saying this, she looked straight into the Alpha’s eyes, waiting for an answer.
But the Alpha in front of her didn’t address the question. Instead, she pressed closer, her voice heavy as she countered, “Then do you know what you’re doing?”
The question was like a sudden clap of thunder across a clear sky.
Qin Huai froze for a moment, only four words swirling in her mind: She knows.
The secret she had kept hidden for so long, known to no one, had been discovered.
She awkwardly turned her head, her throat contracting as she swallowed to ease her anxiety.
But it was no use. The wide hand instantly clamped onto her jaw, forcing her face back to look straight ahead. “Qin Huai, answer me.”
Shen Zhi usually smiled, her dimples easily dispelling any sense of distance, but now the smile was gone. The slightly elongated, upturned corners of her eyes made her appear sharp and intense. She was bent over, looking directly at Qin Huai, with none of her usual playful demeanor.
They were so close that their noses were almost touching.
All of the Alpha’s unusual behavior today made Qin Huai a little wary. The wrist Shen Zhi held was inescapable. She raised her eyes and glared fiercely, trying to use her voice to warn her, “Let go. I’m your senior.”
“So what if you’re my senior?” the Alpha said lightly, her eyes filled with a strong, predatory intensity. “You’re not my actual older sister.”
Qin Huai was speechless with anger. Only the sound of their clear breathing remained in the narrow stairwell.
But the silence only lasted a few seconds before Shen Zhi asked again, “Qin Huai, what did you mean just now? What did you mean by removing your scent gland?”
As she spoke, her eyes were tightly fixed on Qin Huai, afraid of missing any piece of information.
Every organ in the human body has its function; damaging one randomly, even if later supplemented, can never fully achieve the original effect. The scent gland is non-regenerative; once removed or destroyed, it is difficult to repair. An Omega’s scent gland emits pheromones, and during their heat, they need an Alpha to inject their pheromones, etc. these are all parts of an Omega’s bodily balance. If the gland is removed, a certain aspect of the body will become unbalanced, ultimately leading to a decline in the Omega’s physical health, necessitating reliance on medication.
Shen Zhi had only heard the general gist while standing outside, but the sentence Qin Huai said just before reaching the door remained clearly in her mind.
Why did she pick up Qin Huai at the bar that time? Why did Qin Huai throw herself at her during her heat? And why did Qin Huai’s pheromones have no effect on the Alpha?
Everything was like a cloud of smoke dispersing, leaving only a vague, sharp edge.
Shen Zhi grasped onto this edge, and in the face of Qin Huai’s angry glare, she asked, “Is there something wrong with your body?”
The Alpha’s voice was heavy, carrying a forceful urgency that demanded a definitive answer.
Qin Huai slowly raised her eyes at the sound of the interrogation.
