The White Fox Master's Dragon Disciple Won't Stop Chasing Him - Chapter 1
With a crisp “ding-ling,” the heavy silence of the dark was shattered, and the clear chime dissolved the oppressive, ink-thick gloom.
A white fox with dim fur shifted slightly on the jade bed.
Its nine tails hung limply behind it. It tried to crawl up, but the sharp, agonizing pain shooting through its limbs forced it to reluctantly abandon the thought.
It wanted to see clearly where on earth it was, but its vision was a vast, hazy blur.
Yunzhou remembered that right before closing his eyes, he had seen a flustered and panicked Shi An.
Yunzhou who was precisely this nine-tailed white fox was thinking to himself, “Once my injuries heal this time, that little dragon cub is bound to settle scores with me. I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle it.”
“Shizun, you’re awake.” A low, suppressed voice, trembling with nervousness, rang out from the dark.
Blended with the sound of the bell, it was difficult to ignore.
A youth dressed in white robes walked over slowly, and Yunzhou turned toward the direction of the voice.
He wanted to look, but everything remained pitch black. He wanted to speak, but his throat was parched and hoarse, unable to stitch even a single sentence together.
Yunzhou felt a bit anxious, wanting to quickly resolve his current predicament. But a slightly too-large movement tugged at his wounds, causing him to tremble uncontrollably from the pain, and he dared not move again.
When the youth saw Shizun’s movement, he panicked instantly. Especially upon seeing him in pain, he hurriedly crouched down to soothe him.
He hastened to say, “Shizun, don’t worry, don’t move around. Everything has been resolved; everything is fine now, and you’re all healed.”
Immediately afterward, he carefully scooped up some water he had prepared in a lotus leaf and gently fed it to Shizun, taking a moment to gather his composure step by step.
Ever since that single chime of the bell, the moment the youth sensed it, he had rushed over in a hurry, riding his sword at breakneck speed. Upon landing, he had sprinted into the secret chamber, only forcing a facade of calm right before pushing open the door to enter.
However, seeing Shizun hurt himself all over again caused that hard-won composure to shatter completely.
Once Shizun had regained a bit of his spirit, the youth spoke in a measured tone, hitting the main points: “That day, Shizun, your plan was intercepted and stopped by this disciple in time. You were heavily injured and slipped into unconsciousness, and this disciple was terribly worried, so…”
At this point, Shi An paused, as if pondering how and what to say next, before continuing:
“This disciple experienced a fluctuation in his state of mind, which stimulated a surge of power. This disciple manifested another solid clone to endure the fatal tribulation in my stead. Shizun, you suffered backlash and exhausted too much of yourself, which is why your spiritual power is temporarily depleted and your meridians are damaged.
“This disciple’s dwelling is located in a secluded place and is extremely safe, it’s suitable for Shizun to recuperate here. Shizun, please rest at ease for now. It’s just that your eyes… you cannot see for the time being, but this disciple will think of a way.”
Yunzhou who was indeed that white fox roughly understood after listening to the youth’s explanation.
Yet, he vaguely felt that something wasn’t quite right. Because as the youth spoke, his tone grew slightly hurried in places, looking precisely like how he usually acted when hiding something.
There was probably more he hadn’t told him, but forcing the issue right now would require him to rack his brains to invent excuses, and he was already exhausted enough as it was.
For now, he could only temporarily suppress the doubts in his heart; as long as it didn’t involve the little dragon cub’s life, he could accept it.
He only needed to rest in peace. As for his own eyes, it must have been the backlash from over-peeking into the heavenly secrets earlier; once his cultivation level returned, they would heal on their own. He could just rest easy and let the little dragon cub take care of him.
Alas, Immortal Lord Yunzhou still thought things were far too simple. Recuperating was one thing; how he would be “recuperated” was an entirely different matter.
With his explanation of the general process concluded, Shi An looked at Shizun’s listless appearance and consciously retreated.
Before leaving, he didn’t forget to emphasize that Shizun should rest quietly on the jade bed, explaining that the jade bed had been soaked and refined with numerous precious spiritual herbs and possessed a marvelous effect on healing Shizun’s injuries.
Once he had left and closed the door, however, Shi An’s eyes deepened. Now that Shizun was awake, in due time Shizun would be able to take human form. When that time came, he could also engage in some acts of insubordination.
When Shizun was injured, bringing him back to his own dwelling was precisely so he could look upon Shizun day after day. If they had returned to the sect, there would be that glaring lightbulb of a junior brother to contend with.
Furthermore, the treasures he kept here were more numerous than those of the sect, probably matching the treasuries of five sects combined.
For now, Shizun remained in his spiritual fox form, meaning his habits would naturally be influenced by his instincts. When he transformed later, there was no telling to what extent he would change, and his state of mind would likely be affected by his physical form as well. He would just have to take it one step at a time.
