- The Wealthy Old Man Carried a Child After His Divorce
- Chapter 6 - The Dependency Reaction is Coming!
The first day without Fang Xu.
Bai Yifeng’s daily routine had been tortured into such a regular rhythm by his job that the Beta, who had originally planned to sleep until noon, woke up at seven in the morning.
Bai Yifeng: “Damn this 8:00 AM work schedule.”
It was difficult to fall back asleep once awake, and his body had mostly recovered. The discomfort in his lower body had also subsided. He guessed that Fang Xu must have applied medicine while he was asleep. Although it sounded humiliating, fortunately, Bai Yifeng had been unconscious at the time, so he had no memory of the shame and could avoid the awkwardness.
He sat on the bed and yawned a few times before tossing back the quilt and crawling out of bed like a boneless creature. The entire house was covered in soft carpets, so going barefoot was not an issue. Bai Yifeng went to the kitchen, found a drink that looked like milk, poured half a cup, and walked around the house while drinking, trying to wake himself up.
Only now did he finally have the time to understand the layout of Fang Xu’s house. At first, he thought the place was not lived in often because the furniture was placed too sparsely, lacking the “breath of life.” It was likely that Fang Xu really did not come back here often. After discovering that the box of compressed biscuits was gone, Bai Yifeng noticed a large bag of clearly newly purchased snacks in its place.
Bai Yifeng originally intended to sit cross-legged on the carpet, but as he looked down, he saw several soft cushions placed by the cabinet. He smiled silently, took a cushion, sat down, and pulled the snack bag to his side to see what was inside.
The pictures on the packaging were very enticing, but the colors were strange: blue potato chips, orange-yellow chocolate balls. Bai Yifeng silently put down these bizarre snacks. After a moment’s thought, he picked up a bag of chips and opened it. Seeing the blue chips that looked exactly like the picture, he hesitated before putting one in his mouth. Regardless of the taste, it could not be poisonous.
Surprisingly, despite the unsettling color, the taste was actually quite good.
Satisfied, Bai Yifeng decided to treat these as breakfast. Just as he was about to continue exploring, his wisdom brain suddenly chimed. Startled, he did not expect anyone to contact him and thought it might be a news notification. However, when he opened the terminal, a message popped up on the floating screen under the contact name “Xu.”
“When did we exchange contact information?” Bai Yifeng murmured as he clicked the message. The beginning was a series of steps:
-
- Enter the kitchen and open the third drawer of the refrigerator.
-
- Take out the food box with the yellow label.
-
- Place it in the heating box and wait for three minutes. (Attached: Heating box tutorial)
Bai Yifeng scratched his head. What was this about? However, humans have a natural instinct to follow challenges and rules. He put down the chips, stood up, and followed the tutorial through the three steps. Only when he stood before the heating box and heard the ding did he realize he was being led by the nose by Fang Xu.
However, the aroma wafting to his nose made him swallow the complaint that was about to escape his lips. He put on heat-resistant cotton gloves and pulled the food box out of the heater. It was a rich, nutritious meal. Unlike the ones at the nutrition club Louis had taken him to, this bowl was incredibly appetizing.
At the very least, Bai Yifeng had already put the chips out of his mind.
“Ding-ding.”
The terminal rang again. Bai Yifeng already knew who it was. He opened it, and sure enough, it was Fang Xu.
Eat up quickly, there is a surprise at the bottom Ovo
The little emoticon at the end made Bai Yifeng chuckle. He carried the food box to the dining table and began enjoying the breakfast Fang Xu had prepared. This kid could even predict when he would wake up. Wait, did he install surveillance cameras in the house?
Bai Yifeng froze, but the message that jumped onto the terminal next cleared his doubts.
Brother Feng always used to wake up at this time for fear of being late for work. Anyway, remember to eat! Ovo
It seemed the corporate slave routine had left a deep impression.
Bai Yifeng continued eating with a straight face, but halfway through, he decided to reply to Fang Xu.
Thousands of miles away from the home planet, Fang Xu was about to hand over his terminal when he heard the notification sound. He hurriedly took it back and opened it; it was indeed a message from Bai Yifeng.
Already eating, stay safe.
There were no extra emojis or tone particles. It was a simple confirmation that he was eating breakfast as instructed, followed by a reminder to stay safe.
The corners of Fang Xu’s mouth curled up. Teammates passing by were so shocked their jaws nearly dropped. “Fang Xu, why are you smiling so mushily?”
“Look, my boyfriend!” Fang Xu flaunted his terminal, waving it in front of them. Without waiting for them to see the content clearly, he turned it off and handed it over, then lowered his head to secure the military-grade communicator over his heart.
Flynn said helplessly, “Colonel, we did not see clearly. You tucked it away too fast.”
“Exactly! Why keep it so hidden?”
“Quick, tell your brothers, which family’s Omega is it?”
“Not an Omega.” Fang Xu picked up his weapon and kicked them one by one to go get their gear. “He is a Beta.”
Watching his triumphant back, Flynn reminded the teammate beside him, “Luke, if you do not close your mouth, you are going to get disorder syndrome. You would not want the enemy to see a drooling idiot’s face when you are cutting off their head, would you?”
Luke: “I cannot help it. How could Fang Yang allow him to find a Beta boyfriend? Does the Fang family not consist entirely of Alphas, aside from his eldest brother who has a trophy Beta?”
Everyone was puzzled, but with the expedition imminent, the whistle sounded. The home planet fleet took off. Fang Xu leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes to rest, but his mind was calculating the time. It should be about time for Bai Yifeng to experience the “dependency reaction,” right?
It was true that Bai Yifeng was a Beta, and true that he could not be marked by a regular Alpha. Unfortunately, Fang Xu was no regular Alpha.
“Colonel, tuck your dragon tail in.” Flynn dodged to the side. “It is not time for battle yet, why did you let your tail out?”
“Sorry, I could not help it.” Fang Xu did not even open his eyes, calmly retracting the tail behind him, leaving his teammates staring at each other in response to that “could not help it.”
What was he thinking about that made him lose control?
Fang Xu did not send any more messages, and Bai Yifeng did not mind. He was busy exploring the safe house.
Looking out from the window, he was roughly on the twenty-something floor. It was not the top floor, but the soundproofing was excellent; he could not hear any outside noise at all.
The entire apartment had only one bedroom, one walk-in closet, a kitchen, and a bathroom, but the space was massive. Especially the living room, where Bai Yifeng even found a brand-new, unopened game console. He checked his terminal and found it was the latest model from two months ago.
Out of politeness, he sent Fang Xu a message asking if he could play with it, but by noon he had not received a reply. Perhaps Fang Xu was on a mission, so Bai Yifeng did not disturb him further.
For breakfast, he had eaten a bag of chips plus a cup of milk, and since he had not moved much, he had not burned many calories. Having nothing else to do, he simply threw himself back into the covers for a nap.
This time, he had that dream again.
Only, the hot wind in the dream had turned into an ethereal mist. He was lost within it, with only a hint of floral fragrance acting as his guide.
The mist swept away all his reason. Bai Yifeng’s body was cold, but his heart was as hot as fire, desperately seeking something to cool himself down.
In his sleep, he unconsciously grabbed a pillow and felt a shirt belonging to Fang Xu underneath it. The thick scent of pheromones on it brought a great deal of peace to his heart.
His consciousness gradually cleared. Forcing his eyes open, he looked at the shirt he had crumpled into a ball and was holding in his arms. He actually felt the urge to lower his head and sniff it.
So fragrant.
Such a thick floral scent.
He moved his legs restlessly, his breathing uneven. His vision seemed clouded by a watery mist, and he could only seek comfort from the shirt.
But this was far from enough. Bai Yifeng sat up in a daze, rolled out of bed, and staggered toward the walk-in closet where there was more, more of Fang Xu’s scent.
He did not know what was happening to him; he only knew that the floral scent could put his mind at ease. Finally reaching the closet door, the feeling of being enveloped by the fragrance made him let out a sigh. He crawled into the wardrobe, letting the clothes wrap around him, and fell asleep just like that.
When he dreamed again, there was no mist and no hot wind. This time, what appeared before his eyes was a desolate snowfield. The biting cold wind made Bai Yifeng sway, nearly unable to stand. He looked up at the pure sky, only to see a massive dark shadow sweep across the horizon.
The shadow had a pair of giant wings but no feathers, a long tail, a long neck, and a sharp barb on its tail.
The shadow let out an ear-piercing dragon roar. It seemed to have noticed Bai Yifeng’s presence and turned, flying straight toward him. Bai Yifeng was immobilized, forced to watch as the silver-white giant dragon landed before him and gently wrapped him in its wings. Following that was…
Bai Yifeng felt it was absolutely absurd. He was actually dreaming about doing “that” kind of thing with a giant dragon!
Those sensations were too intense and real. Bai Yifeng’s voice went hoarse from crying as he tried to break free from the dragon’s shackles, but it was all in vain. Instead, he smelled a familiar floral fragrance coming from the dragon.
The dragon before him seemed to overlap with a certain person’s silhouette. In a previous dream, he had also been held; the dragon horns on the head of the person in that dream seemed identical to those of this giant dragon.
“Fang Xu… Fang…”
Bai Yifeng chewed on those two words. As the dragon’s fangs pierced the back of his neck, he finally woke up from the dream.
He bolted upright, not even caring that his head hit the wall of the wardrobe. He reached back to touch his nape. There really was a tooth mark there. Was Fang Xu trying to mark him?
He was actually trying to mark a Beta?!
Before Bai Yifeng could think further, a new wave of heat, carried by the cold wind, swallowed him once more. The intimacy with the dragon felt endless, as if it would never stop.
When Fang Xu returned from the battlefield, it was already past 2:00 AM. He headed straight for the bedroom upon his return, but he only saw the rumpled shirt.
“Brother Feng?” Fang Xu walked out of the bedroom in confusion.
Just then, he caught a faint, familiar scent and hurriedly searched for its source. “Brother Feng!”
