- The Wealthy Old Man Carried a Child After His Divorce
- Chapter 21 - You Are Mine, and I Am Yours!
“Brother Feng, what are you looking at?”
The fifth day of work happened to be a day off. Even so, Bai Yifeng did not go home. Instead, he stayed in the dormitory of the Medical Department. Needless to say, Louis had helped deliver his luggage. The single room was quite nice, especially if it were not for a certain golden-haired big dog chasing after him and clinging to him.
Fang Xu’s missions were hectic; he only had a little time to rest late at night. Even during this short window, he insisted on finding Bai Yifeng. The Beta, seeing how hard he worked, could not bear to refuse his snuggling.
It was now nearly 1:00 AM. When Fang Xu came over after showering at the Combat Department, Bai Yifeng was still half-reclined on the bed studying his wisdom brain. From Fang Xu’s angle, he could only see a few familiar names on the screen. Even after Fang Xu climbed onto the bed, carrying the lingering moisture of his shower, and scooped Bai Yifeng into his arms to let him lean against his chest, Bai Yifeng remained fully focused on the terminal.
“Why are you researching Marcel?” Fang Xu looked closer and saw a clear relationship map on the screen. It included not only Marcel but also Song Ye and Fang Yang. Even Ye Lang’s name had appeared.
Bai Yifeng popped out the page from the wisdom brain, and the floating screen immediately enlarged his handwriting. In the corner, the words “Melodrama” were circled in red lines, looking very conspicuous.
“Look here.” Bai Yifeng tapped the floating screen twice and wrote a few words. He first drew a line between Fang Yang and Ye Lang, labeling it with a “3,” then connected Fang Yang and Song Ye, labeling it with a “4.” However, he hesitated before drawing a question mark. “Who do you think was with your brother first, Ye Lang or Song Ye?”
Fang Xu gradually realized that he was analyzing the interest-based relationships between these people. He furrowed his brows and swapped the positions of “3” and “4,” saying softly, “Although Ye Lang is engaged to my brother, I have also heard some gossip from the Medical Department. Don’t look at me like that, Brother Feng, or I will really want to kiss you.”
“Then kiss me.” Bai Yifeng looked at the faint dark circles under Fang Xu’s eyes, knowing his mission load had been heavy recently. Aside from the first two days when he came to pick him up for dinner, he had basically been invisible for the rest of the week. If he had not run over himself tonight, Bai Yifeng would have thought he had not returned yet.
The Beta raised his hand to hook the back of the Alpha’s head, pulling him down for a couple of kisses before continuing to observe the relationship map with a straight face. “Are you talking about Song Ye’s pregnancy?”
“There are many Omegas in the Medical Department, and not a few of them fall in love with those in the Combat Department. After all, besides the few people under Marcel who need to stay at headquarters, everyone else has to follow onto the battlefield. It is normal to develop feelings over time.” Fang Xu held him tightly and took over his wisdom brain. “So, I had not even returned when I heard the news. Pregnancy can be detected within the first week using the reagents provided by medical robots. Since you only just discovered it, he must have been hiding it before.”
Fang Xu wrote a “5” between Fang Yang and Song Ye. Bai Yifeng was puzzled. “What does that mean?”
“Although my brother is a scumbag, he is somewhat long-lasting in his interests,” Fang Xu explained. “I saw him in close contact with Song Ye five months ago.”
Bai Yifeng understood his point. “Does your brother not have a ‘White Moonlight’ or something? I mean, someone he is obsessed with.”
Initially, he thought Ye Lang was Fang Yang’s “White Moonlight,” but now it seemed their relationship was not that deep. Instead, it was Song Ye.
“Why is Brother Feng always asking about my brother?” Fang Xu sucked on his neck twice in dissatisfaction. “You still haven’t told me why you are researching all this.”
Bai Yifeng turned off the wisdom brain, let out a long breath, and leaned back into his embrace. He was held by the Alpha and placed onto the bed, covered by a quilt. Once everything around them went dark, he spoke softly, “Let us just say I will be spending a lot of time in the Medical Department in the future. I do not want to let these matters drive me to a mental breakdown.”
He did not tell Fang Xu that he simply wanted to resolve this mess of a melodrama. He had to keep the words “living in a melodrama novel” engraved in his heart. No matter how dramatic or unrealistic everything around him became, he was already part of it.
So, he wanted to find the loopholes, not for his green-capped colleague Marcel, nor for the sake of gossip.
He just wanted to be a good medic, saving lives in his spare time and being the sturdiest shield behind Fang Xu and the others during missions.
But the word “melodrama” made the word “peace” feel hard to achieve.
“Stop thinking about those things.” Fang Xu pressed close to him, intending to hold him to sleep, but unexpectedly, the man in his arms turned around and wrapped his arms around his waist. “Brother Feng?”
“Sleep.” Bai Yifeng yawned. Although his mind was still filled with various relationship maps, he had to force himself to sleep quickly. He had not been able to spend today’s rest time with Fang Xu; he could not waste this time sleeping together.
Fang Xu, feeling blissful, was about to close his eyes when Bai Yifeng suddenly grabbed his hand and placed it on the back of his neck, mumbling in a low voice, “Massage it for me.”
“Did you sprain it?”
“Not really.” Bai Yifeng paused. “Your mark makes the back of my neck very itchy.”
Even though it had been nearly half a month since Fang Xu last marked Bai Yifeng.
“Does it feel uncomfortable?” Fang Xu dropped two kisses on the top of his head, dutifully and gently kneading the gland on the back of his neck, which was not very fleshy.
Bai Yifeng’s nose was filled with the scent of Saint Feather Orchid on the Alpha, which gradually calmed the anxiety caused by not seeing Fang Xu for two days. “No, I just cannot help but think of you constantly. Tomorrow morning, before you leave, give me a temporary mark. It will make me feel better.”
“Actually,” Fang Xu lowered his voice, “if Brother Feng is willing to let me form a knot inside you to mark you, you would feel much better.”
As he spoke, his hands did not stop moving, but his expression in the dark was very nervous, fearing Bai Yifeng would refuse him. After all, the effects of a mark and a temporary mark could fade, but forming a knot was different.
Bai Yifeng would become his. And he would become Bai Yifeng’s.
Bai Yifeng remained silent for a long time. Just as Fang Xu speculated that perhaps he had fallen asleep or was unwilling to hear it, Bai Yifeng suddenly spoke, giving him a start. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“Brother Feng?” Fang Xu froze. “Are you? Are you serious?”
“I thought a mark was all there was to it,” Bai Yifeng said through gritted teeth. “Do you not want to form a knot with me?”
“I do! Of course I do!” Fang Xu raised his voice. He withdrew his hand and bashfully nudged Bai Yifeng’s pillow. “I thought you were unwilling, Brother Feng, so I never mentioned it.”
Bai Yifeng got up and turned on the light, propping himself up to look at him seriously. “I am a Beta, and you are an Alpha. If I were unwilling, why wouldn’t I go find an Omega like Song Ye? Forget it, forget it. I won’t look, and even if I did, I wouldn’t look for someone like him.”
The moment he thought of Song Ye, he thought of the pushover Marcel. He did not want to become the plaything of that kind of Omega!
“Brother Feng is not allowed to find Omegas. Alphas and Betas won’t do either.” Fang Xu moved onto his lap and looked up at him. “You are only allowed to find me.”
“I did not mean it like that.”
“I know what Brother Feng means.” Fang Xu flipped over. Bai Yifeng did not even see clearly how he sat up, but once his vision cleared, he had been pressed back into the soft quilt by the waist. The Alpha’s eyes held a tender smile, yet his hands were unapologetically possessive, pressing tightly against his exposed skin. “Brother Feng, may I?”
“Does forming a knot hurt a lot?” Bai Yifeng asked directly. “Never mind, I can endure it even if it hurts.”
“I do not have experience in this area, but I have fantasized about it many times,” Fang Xu laughed. “My very first wet dream was about Brother Feng, so you can trust my theoretical knowledge. As for the practice.”
“I will be the first and last step of your practice.” After the knotting, they would not just be simply tied together by a mark. This time, Bai Yifeng did not lose consciousness; he clearly stated his need to the Alpha: “Mark me.”
Make me yours. And make yourself mine.
“Turn off the light first.” Even at a time like this, Fang Xu still remembered that Bai Yifeng would be a bit uneasy under the light. But unexpectedly, this time Bai Yifeng held his hand. The Beta did not speak, but Fang Xu read his thoughts from his eyes.
This time, Bai Yifeng wanted to look at Fang Xu’s face.
In the Medical Department dormitory building in the middle of the night, a light stayed on until morning. Someone passing by while half-asleep heard a few muffled groans and thought it was a stray cat, giving it no further thought.
Only a giant moon hung in the clear night sky.
The next day, Bai Yifeng woke up a bit late. By the time he reached the Medical Department, Marcel was already sitting in the office. He looked haggard, and his usually well-groomed jaw had grown short stubble. At the entrance of the lounge, Song Ye, who should have taken a leave of absence to rest, was still diligently registering the patients who were to be admitted today.
“Such a strong Alpha pheromone.” Someone spoke the first sentence. The colleagues in the Medical Department looked at each other; everyone knew who was single and who was in a relationship, but they had never encountered pheromones so domineering and blatant.
Song Ye also felt the pheromones and looked at Bai Yifeng blankly. The others’ gazes also settled on him. The Beta paused his actions of yawning and rubbing his eyes, lowered his hand, and said calmly, “My apologies. My boyfriend was too passionate, and I could not control myself.”
After a moment of silence, everyone expressed their understanding, but deep down, they still could not imagine what a passionately enthusiastic Fang Xu looked like. Thinking about it was too scary, better not to.
Bai Yifeng opened his wisdom brain to check the time. As soon as he opened it, he saw some new annotations on his relationship map. Fang Xu had written the words “White Moonlight” and crossed them out with a red X, then wrote an unexpected name next to Marcel’s name.
Mondo.
Next to Mondo’s name was a small sketch of a knife.
Could it be that Mondo and Marcel had a grudge? No, wait.
Bai Yifeng looked toward the Director’s office behind a layer of glass. Marcel was walking out dejectedly with a coffee cup. He suddenly understood Fang Xu’s meaning. All the staff in the Logistics Medical Department were Omegas; why was Marcel the only Alpha?
He had not stayed behind willingly; he stayed here only for Song Ye. That small knife sketch was Fang Xu telling Bai Yifeng that Marcel once had dreams. The dream of joining the Combat Medical Department.
Bai Yifeng’s eyes lit up. Just then, a voice that should not have appeared here suddenly sounded behind him. He turned his head in confusion and saw Ye Lang walking over aggressively. However, he did not stop beside him but stepped forward and gave Song Ye a loud slap.
It was very resounding.
