- The Wealthy Old Man Carried a Child After His Divorce
- Chapter 13 - Attending Grandpa’s Birthday Banquet Together!
Bai Yifeng did not regret taking the initiative to lead Fang Xu into doing bad things, but he did somewhat regret not choosing to kick him away when Fang Xu said, “Just one more time.”
As the saying goes, where there is a first, there is a second.
And where there is a second, there follow a third, fourth, and fifth.
It turned out that even an injured Alpha was still an Alpha. After a night had passed, it was Bai Yifeng who found himself unable to get out of bed. Fang Xu dutifully massaged his overworked waist, giving him occasional live updates. “Brother Feng, there are still my finger marks on your waist. I will definitely be gentler next time.”
Bai Yifeng lay face down on a soft pillow. Hearing this, he turned his head as if to speak, but ultimately swallowed the words “there won’t be a next time.” He had tasted the sweetness of it himself and actually quite liked the sensations Fang Xu brought him.
Though he was straightforward, he was not so blunt that he could express his fondness for intimacy without blushing, so he decided to keep his mouth shut this time.
Fang Xu did not receive an answer, but he was not discouraged. His fingers skillfully massaged Bai Yifeng until the latter began to whimper softly. Only then did he find the right moment to speak. “Brother Feng, I have something I want to discuss with you.”
Bai Yifeng gave a muffled response and rolled over onto Fang Xu’s lap, looking up at him. “Is it about your grandfather’s birthday?”
“How did you know?” Fang Xu was stunned. He lay down and pulled Bai Yifeng into his arms, not minding when the Beta pushed him away with the excuse that his body was too hot. Being forbidden from hugging did not stop him from sticking close. As Fang Xu pursued him across the mattress, Bai Yifeng found himself nearing the edge of the bed. Left with no choice, he leaned back into the Alpha. A hand immediately pressed against his waist, and Fang Xu cautioned, “Careful not to fall off, Brother Feng.”
Bai Yifeng glanced at him. “Then let go.”
“I will not.” Fang Xu smiled and kissed his forehead. “You still haven’t told me how you knew about it.”
“Your Fang family always makes a huge scene out of everything.” Bai Yifeng raised a hand and waved it dismissively. He had intended to tell Fang Xu he saw the news on his brain-computer, but the kid grabbed his hand and started kissing it. Bai Yifeng lacked the strength to resist, so he let him do as he pleased, continuing, “The old man’s birthday? I imagine everyone on the Imperial Star knows by now.”
“Big Brother needs that kind of spectacle.” Fang Xu did not elaborate, returning to the original topic. “Can you accompany me that day? Grandpa doesn’t really like me.”
Bai Yifeng’s fingertips brushed against the golden hair, idly twining a strand around his finger before letting the silky tresses slip through. “Why?”
“Grandpa doesn’t like us soldiers.” Fang Xu let out a short laugh. “He likes people like my brother who know how to do business and make big money. Every time I see him, I don’t dare get close. But this time, all the relatives are coming back, and Big Brother told me to clear my schedule. I have to go.”
Yesterday, when Bai Yifeng missed his call, Fang Xu had intended to bring up the banquet, but he had not found the opportunity. After all, the moment he got home, Brother Feng had pounced on him saying he wanted it; no one could have held out against that.
Bai Yifeng did not give an immediate reply. Accompanying Fang Xu was no problem, but returning to the Fang family meant dealing with a massive number of variables. Putting everything else aside, Ye Lang alone was enough of a troublemaker. Even if he did not know if the man would dare to cause a scene in front of Old Man Fang, Bai Yifeng had to remain vigilant.
The night he met Fang Xu, his being drugged was very likely Ye Lang’s doing. However, he had no evidence and it was not yet time to seek trouble, so he had never mentioned it. Truthfully, if possible, Bai Yifeng wished to stay as far away from them as possible.
Aside from Ye Lang, there was also Fang Yang. Just thinking of that name gave Bai Yifeng a headache.
“If you don’t want to go, just wait for me at home.” Seeing his long silence, Fang Xu gently stroked his back and closed his eyes. He said softly, “I will not force you to do anything you are unwilling to do.”
“I can go with you.” To the Alpha’s surprise, Bai Yifeng agreed. Amidst Fang Xu’s startled gaze, Bai Yifeng propped himself up slightly in his arms, looked into his eyes, and said seriously, “On the condition that you stay by my side.”
He knew that if Fang Xu was with him, encountering Fang Yang was unavoidable, but that was better than meeting Fang Yang alone someday. Even someone as calm as Louis had repeatedly warned him to be careful of Fang Yang. What that madman was capable of doing, Bai Yifeng truly could not say.
In that case, he would take the initiative.
Since he had already decided to stay by Fang Xu’s side, meeting Fang Yang was only a matter of time. It was better to label himself early. He and Fang Yang were already divorced; who he chose to be with was his freedom. They say one should not covet a friend’s wife, so surely a brother’s boyfriend is someone a big brother like Fang Yang would have to respect for the sake of appearances?
Fang Xu naturally agreed to his request immediately. But seeing the flash of concern in Bai Yifeng’s eyes, the Alpha sighed and pulled him into a hug. Before Bai Yifeng could struggle, he whispered, “Brother Feng, am I making things difficult for you?”
Bai Yifeng’s hand happened to be resting on his shoulder. The wound there was not heavy, but it looked startling. When he asked this morning, he learned it was from an enemy’s dirty trick using a cold weapon. To dodge it, Fang Xu had let the weapon graze his shoulder to avoid being pierced through.
He could not press down. Nor could he push.
Bai Yifeng clicked his tongue inwardly but relaxed his hand. “Even if you didn’t bring it up, this day would have come eventually.”
“Brother Feng, what exactly is our relationship now?” Fang Xu tried to push his luck, asking in a low voice. “Brother Feng?”
Bai Yifeng’s response was to kick him aside and head to the dressing room to pick out clothes for tomorrow. The golden-haired big dog followed, hugging his waist and rubbing his head vigorously against his neck. “Brother Feng smells so good.”
“It is you who smells good, right?” Hearing him say that, Bai Yifeng remembered he had never asked what his pheromone scent was. “I always smell a floral scent on you. What flower is it?”
Although Betas have pheromones, their glands are not as prominent as those of Alphas or Omegas. Even if there is a scent, it is not obvious. Yesterday, when he went out to buy clothes, the stares from people around him had also bothered him.
“Holy Wing Orchid.” After speaking, Fang Xu remembered Bai Yifeng had mentioned his memory was a bit fuzzy, so he looked it up on his brain-computer to show him. It was a flower with no leaves, only the bloom and the stem. The body was entirely white, and the two drooping petals looked like the spread wings of a dove of peace.
Bai Yifeng looked at it intently, subconsciously grabbing Fang Xu’s collar to take a sniff. So this was the scent of the Holy Wing Orchid? It smelled quite nice. No wonder that day, even in a bad state, he had been able to follow Fang Xu’s pheromones all the way to him.
“Do you like it?” Fang Xu leaned in close. Bai Yifeng nodded. “It is quite beautiful.”
“I will take you to see them next time.” Fang Xu was secretly delighted. Bai Yifeng saying he liked the flower was equivalent to saying he liked him. Just then, Bai Yifeng found a formal suit Fang Xu had worn before. It was a bit small for the current Fang Xu but fit Bai Yifeng perfectly. “This one. I haven’t worn it; it was a bit small when I tried it on before.”
“Help me take this off.” Bai Yifeng was too lazy to move, raising his arms to let the other remove his pajamas. Behind him, Fang Xu looked at the mottled marks on the Beta’s body and suddenly regretted letting him accompany him to the ancestral home.
It would be better if he were the only one who could see Brother Feng like this.
“What are you thinking about?” Bai Yifeng looked back and knew what was on his mind just by the look in his eyes. He handed him the suit jacket. “Help me put it on and let’s see.”
In the dressing room, one wall was entirely mirrored. In the reflection, the man with long golden hair leaned over the slightly shorter black-haired Beta, loosely tucking the tie into the lapel. Between their movements and glances, Bai Yifeng saw himself in Fang Xu’s eyes: composed and gentle.
The birthday banquet for the patriarch of the Fang family attracted the attention of various famous figures. For weeks, people had been exerting every effort to secure an invitation to this gathering.
An ordinary car followed the stream of vehicles and slowly stopped in front of the Fang family ancestral home. Returning here after nearly two months, Bai Yifeng’s heart was exceptionally calm, as if he were truly just attending an insignificant party.
Actually, that was indeed the case.
Bai Yifeng did not even have the time to notice which people were stepping out of luxury cars with expensive gifts. Even if he saw them, he wouldn’t recognize them. The Beta was focused on studying Fang Xu’s hair.
“How did it turn black?” Bai Yifeng cupped the Alpha’s long black hair, which was tied in a low ponytail. “I wanted to ask you last time. You didn’t dye it, did you?”
“It is just a little trick.” Fang Xu lifted his hair as if showing off a treasure. Within a few breaths, part of the black hair turned gold again. “Golden hair is too flashy; it is easy to get targeted on the battlefield. So I usually use black hair as a disguise. But the version of me in front of you is always the original me.”
Bai Yifeng suddenly lowered his head to sniff the strands. Fang Xu let out a laugh. “Does it smell good?”
“Yes.” Bai Yifeng let go of his hair and helped him tidy the hairband and the ends. Just then, someone knocked on the car window. Fang Xu opened the door and met Louis’s indifferent face. He smiled. “Why the long face on such a big day? At least try to smile.”
Louis cooperated with a slight curve of his lips. Before the words “Second Young Master” could leave his mouth, he saw a familiar hand appear behind Fang Xu. The curve of Louis’s lips froze as he watched Fang Xu lead Bai Yifeng out of the car. “Second Young Master?”
“I am here for the appointment.” Fang Xu spoke with a double meaning. He was here for the grandfather’s birthday banquet, and also to fulfill his agreement with Louis: to let Bai Yifeng and Fang Yang meet.
Louis subconsciously looked toward the distance. Fang Yang was talking to Ye Lang at the entrance of the ancestral home. Noticing Louis’s gaze, he also looked over.
He first saw Fang Xu and immediately left the reluctant Ye Lang to walk over. “Xiao Xu, why did you come by yourself? I sent people to pick you up, but they missed you.”
His words came to an abrupt halt when he saw the person beside Fang Xu. Bai Yifeng looked over calmly, swept a glance across him, and then looked at Louis, smiling. “The marks on your face really have vanished completely.”
“Ye Lang scratched Louis’s face before.” Fang Xu explained to his big brother, purposely revealing his hand held with Bai Yifeng’s.
The image of their fingers interlaced stabbed deeply into Fang Yang’s heart. Then he heard his cute, well-behaved younger brother say, “Big Brother, I said yesterday I wanted to bring someone to see you. I have brought him.”
