The Villainous Sister-in-law Mistakenly Marked as the Heroine (Transmigration) - Chapter 34.1
When Rong Jing arrived, Lin Qile was standing at the door, sipping coffee irritably.
She walked over and asked, “How did it go?”
“She doesn’t believe it. Even with the evidence right in front of her, she’s still hesitant and refuses to accept that Qi Song deceived her.”
How could someone be like this? The evidence was laid out, the police were involved, yet she locked herself in her office crying, unwilling to believe any of it!
“Try to comfort her.”
“Yeah.”
Setting the coffee cup on the table, she walked to the door and knocked. “Mom, please open the door. Let me take you home to rest. You just got back from abroad, you must still be jet-lagged, right?”
There was no response from inside.
Her heart skipped a beat. “She wouldn’t do anything reckless, would she?”
Rong Jing’s expression changed, and she quickly pulled out her phone. “I’ll call someone to.”
Before she could finish, Lin Qile had already kicked the door.
Rong Jing: !
Three kicks later, the door finally gave way.
Inside, Lin Xinrou was curled up in a corner, covering her face as she sobbed.
Lin Qile let out a sigh of relief. “You scared me to death.”
She hurried over, crouched down in front of Lin Xinrou, and gently comforted her, “Mom, please stop crying, okay? If you keep crying like this, your body won’t be able to take it.”
“Lele, could it all be a misunderstanding? I really… sob…”
She hugged her. “Let’s not talk about it anymore. We’ll take you home first. Get some proper sleep, and when you wake up, we’ll explain everything to you clearly.”
Lin Xinrou nodded tearfully.
The two helped her up and led her out.
Back at home, they settled Lin Xinrou into bed before stepping out of the room.
Rong Jing spoke first, “I always thought you were pretty useless, but I have to say, you surprised me at a critical moment.”
Lin Qile knew she was referring to the door-kicking and smiled sheepishly. “Honestly, I’ve only ever seen people do that in dramas, it looked cool. Never thought I could pull it off myself. I didn’t even realize it until you mentioned it, but my toes really hurt now.”
She crouched down, rubbing her foot.
Rong Jing leaned against the railing and asked, “What’s your next move?”
“What do you mean?”
“Qi Song has been scheming for years. I don’t believe something this minor will be enough to put her away.”
At this, Lin Qile’s expression turned serious. “I don’t believe it either, but with solid evidence, how could she possibly wriggle out of it?”
“Wriggle out…”
Meanwhile, at the police station.
Qi Song, who had just arrived, smiled and said, “I’d like to call my lawyer.”
“Go ahead.”
She stepped aside and dialed a number.
The call connected quickly, and Wang Chen’s voice came through. “Cousin, how are you holding up?”
“I’m fine. I’ve been framed, you know that, right?”
Wang Chen’s expression shifted dramatically. “Cousin…”
“I’ll be waiting for you at the police station.”
With that, she hung up, turned around, and casually addressed the officers, “I won’t be answering any questions until my lawyer arrives.”
Then she took a seat.
Less than thirty minutes later, Lan Qian rushed into the station. After exchanging a glance with Qi Song, who was sitting calmly, she spoke up, her voice trembling, “Officers, I’d like to turn myself in.”
“Turn yourself in for what?”
Tears welled up in her eyes as she confessed, “I’m guilty. I embezzled company funds.”
With someone voluntarily confessing to the crime, Qi Song was free to leave. As she walked out of the station, she immediately received a call from Ji Zhao. “Mother, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. I never expected Lin Qile and Rong Jing to outmaneuver me like this.”
“What’s the next step? Where are you now? I’ll come pick you up.”
“No need. It’s time for me to return to the Lin family.”
Ji Zhao looked stunned. “Go back? Will they still trust you?”
“As long as Lin Xinrou believes in me, that’s enough. The Lin family villa and Lin Corporation Tower aren’t in my hands yet.”
Lin Corporation Tower, if not for that building, she wouldn’t have wasted so many years on Lin Xinrou. The tower alone was worth over two billion, not to mention the economic benefits it brought to the surrounding area.
But now that someone else had their eyes on it, she had to act fast and get Lin Xinrou to agree to mortgage the tower!
With that thought, she strode quickly toward her car and drove straight back to the Lin family villa.
Lin Qile and Rong Jing sat in the living room, one lost in worry, the other working on her phone.
Suddenly, the sound of an engine came from outside.
The two exchanged a glance and immediately stood up to head out.
Before they could reach the foyer, they saw Qi Song walking in.
Lin Qile exclaimed, “Shouldn’t you be at the police station?!”
“Ah-Song!”
Hearing the engine, Lin Xinrou ran barefoot out of her room and spotted Qi Song downstairs, her eyes instantly welling with tears.
Qi Song spoke coldly, “I didn’t break any laws. Why would the police hold me?” Then, shifting to a tender gaze at Lin Xinrou, she said, “Xinrou, we’ve been married for over twenty years. Do you really think everything I’ve done for you was fake?”
“Ah-Song!”
Lin Xinrou rushed downstairs, grabbing Qi Song’s arm as she choked back tears. “I believe you, but how could the company be drained? What happened with the accounts?”
“It was Lan Qian. She embezzled company funds. When the police came, she confessed everything. I was deceived by her. I just went to the station to clear things up, and now I’m fine.”
“Lan Qian? The CFO?”
Qi Song wore an expression of bitter disappointment. “Yes. We trusted her so much, and she betrayed us, emptying the company behind our backs.”
“You’re just finding a scapegoat!”
With a pained look, Qi Song turned to Lin Xinrou. “Xinrou, this truly breaks my heart. The daughter we raised with so much love now wants nothing more than to send me to prison.”
Lin Qile nearly spat blood in frustration. How could Qi Song be so shameless, shifting blame the moment things went wrong?
“Lele, your mother was released from the police station. That proves she’s innocent, she was tricked by Lan Qian.”
“Mom, she’s still lying to you!”
Instead of refuting her directly, Qi Song turned to Rong Jing. “Rong Jing, ever since you married my daughter, she’s grown distant from me step by step. I used to wonder how she suddenly became so interested in business. Turns out, she had an expert like you guiding her from behind the scenes. You want Lin Corporation so badly that you’d even drive a wedge between our family!”
Rong Jing smirked faintly. “President Qi, it’s a shame you didn’t pursue acting. What a waste of talent.”
Lin Xinrou stared at Rong Jing in shock. “Rong Jing, why would you do this? Has our family ever wronged you?”
“Mom, Rong Jing isn’t using me. Don’t let Qi Song brainwash you.”
“Lele, she’s your mother. If she really committed a crime, the police wouldn’t have let her go. How can you not trust your own mother?”
“That depends on whether she deserves to be called my mother!”
A cold glint flashed in Qi Song’s eyes. “Lin Qile! After all this, I truly wish I’d never had a daughter like you!”
Lin Qile was so furious that her heart ached, especially when she saw the reproachful look in Lin Xinrou’s eyes. She had originally intended not to overwhelm Lin Xinrou with too much at once, fearing it would hurt her. But now, it seemed some things no longer needed to be hidden.
Taking a deep breath, she spoke mockingly, “In your heart, Ji Zhao is your good daughter, isn’t she?”
The moment these words were uttered, not only Qi Song but also Lin Xinrou and Rong Jing were stunned.
A flicker of panic flashed in Qi Song’s eyes. “What nonsense are you spouting?!”
“Nonsense? Isn’t Ji Zhao your illegitimate daughter?! Ji Zhao is twenty-five, and so am I. Mom…” She turned to the stunned Lin Xinrou.
“Qi Song has betrayed you for twenty-five years, and all this time, she’s never cut ties with that woman and her daughter. If you don’t believe me, have her take a paternity test with Ji Zhao then you’ll know if I’m lying or not.”
Lin Xinrou turned to look at her partner, whose face was now filled with panic. “Xinrou, let me explain. It’s not what you think.”
“Tell me, is what Lele said true or not?”
“Xinrou, it’s complicated. I can explain everything to you.”
She reached out to grab Lin Xinrou’s hand, but the other woman pulled away. “I don’t care about the details. Just tell me, is it true or not? Don’t… don’t lie to me.”
Lin Qile interjected, “I wouldn’t bring this up if I didn’t have proof. Qi Song, did you really think your lies were flawless?”
“Enough! Lin Qile, you don’t deserve to be my daughter!”
Qi Song’s outburst was immediate, her face burning with shame. But the moment the words left her mouth, she realized her mistake.
Lin Xinrou staggered back. “You… you really have an illegitimate daughter?”
“Xinrou, it was an accident. Back then, my pheromones went haywire during a business dinner. I swear, it only happened once, never again. All these years, haven’t you seen how devoted I’ve been to you?”
“Mom, cheating is either zero times or countless times. All those nights she claimed to be working late? She was actually with her mistress.”
“Lin Qile, shut your mouth!”
“No, you shut yours! I’m ashamed to share your blood, Qi Song. When you married Mom, you were just a poor Alpha. Everything you have now, you owe to her. And yet, you’ve been playing her for a fool! While she waited at home for you, what were you doing? What were you doing with that woman, Ji Qian?”
Lin Xinrou murmured weakly, “Ji Qian wasn’t she your former secretary?”
“Mom, a scumbag like her isn’t worth your heartbreak.”
She supported the pale-faced Lin Xinrou, glaring at Qi Song. “You ungrateful, heartless monster.”
Qi Song, who had been standing there in panic, suddenly took a deep breath. When she looked up again, her eyes were calm, brimming with confidence. “Why did you have to expose everything? Wasn’t life good as it was?”
“Good? Maybe for you!”
Lin Xinrou stared at the woman she had lived with for over twenty years, feeling as though she was seeing a stranger for the first time. Her voice trembled. “When my mother passed away… Ji Qian came to the funeral.”
“Yes.”
“So everything Lele said… is true?”
Qi Song looked at Lin Xinrou, who was barely holding herself together, and after a long pause, finally spoke. “You’ve never been strong enough to handle the truth. Why dig deeper? The only one who’ll get hurt is you.”
Lin Xinrou’s vision darkened. Her body swayed before collapsing backward.
“Mom!”
“Mom!”
Lin Qile and Rong Jing supported the fainting Lin Xinrou. Rong Jing quickly called for an ambulance, while Lin Qile turned her head, her eyes red with fury as she glared at Qi Song. “Good and evil will always meet their retribution. Qi Song, you’ll get what’s coming to you.”
“You? Really?”
Lin Qile stood her ground. “Yes, me!”
Suddenly, a hand rested on her shoulder. Rong Jing’s icy voice now carried a tone of unwavering resolve. “And me.”
Qi Song scoffed dismissively.
“I’ll be waiting.”
With that, Qi Song turned and left.
The ambulance arrived quickly, and Lin Qile accompanied her mother to the hospital.
Rong Jing didn’t go with them, saying she had something important to attend to in the afternoon and would come to the hospital later.
At the hospital, after the examination, the doctor explained that Lin Xinrou had suffered an acute fainting spell due to extreme emotional distress. She would be fine once she woke up, as long as she remained calm.
