The Villainous Sister-in-law Mistakenly Marked as the Heroine (Transmigration) - Chapter 26.2
Lin Qile sighed helplessly.
Night fell.
The aroma of food roused Rong Jing from sleep. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw Lin Qile waving a piece of meat in front of her mouth.
“What are you doing?”
“Waking you up to eat.”
Seeing she was awake, Lin Qile popped the meat into her own mouth. “This is so delicious, and it’s all free! I ordered a lot. You threw up this afternoon, so your stomach must be empty by now. Come on, get up and eat.”
“I don’t want to. I feel sick.”
Before she could finish the word “car,” her expression shifted in surprise as she touched her stomach.
Had the baby taken pity on her and decided to stop tormenting her?
“Not carsick anymore, huh? Good thing I gave you a massage. If you’d just taken the motion sickness pill, you wouldn’t have had any reaction at all. Why didn’t you take it?”
Rong Jing looked at her with a complicated expression. “You gave me a massage?”
“Yeah. Now hurry up and eat. Who knows how long it’ll last? You should take advantage of feeling better and get some food in you.”
With that, she grabbed her chopsticks and walked out of the bedroom.
Rong Jing sat on the bed for a moment before getting up and stepping out.
The dining table was laden with an array of dishes.
Lin Qile was happily digging in. When she saw Rong Jing, she grinned and waved her over. “Come eat! If you’re feeling okay afterward, let’s go out and see the night view. I wonder what the ocean looks like at night.”
Rong Jing sat down and picked up her chopsticks. “You’ve never seen the night view on a cruise before?”
“Uh…”
Rong Jing reached for a slice of spicy beef, but Lin Qile snatched it away. “That’s mine. All the spicy ones are mine.”
“I want some too!”
“No! Your mother said you can’t handle spicy food. Stop torturing yourself and stick to the mild dishes I ordered for you.”
“Lin Qile…” Rong Jing narrowed her eyes. “You dare boss me around?!”
“I’m just following your mother’s instructions. Fine, eat it if you want, but if you feel sick, I’m calling her.”
Rong Jing’s face flushed. “How old are you, tattling like a child?!”
“Miss Rong, just watch your diet, okay? We’re at sea. If you get an upset stomach, even if we call an ambulance, it won’t get here.”
Rong Jing pressed her lips together, slowly retracting her chopsticks before turning to the milder dishes.
For a while, the only sound in the room was the clinking of chopsticks.
But as she ate, Lin Qile grew uneasy under an intense gaze. Looking up, she saw Rong Jing staring longingly at the spicy beef on her chopsticks.
Seriously?!
Didn’t Rong Yihua say she couldn’t handle spicy food?
What was with that craving expression?
That pitiful, eager look made Lin Qile’s heart soften a little.
She picked out a piece with less chili coating and placed it in Rong Jing’s bowl. “Just a little. It’d be troublesome to get sick on a cruise.”
At the sight of the spicy beef, Rong Jing’s eyes lit up. She immediately picked it up and popped it into her mouth.
Watching her flushed face from the spicy food yet eating happily, Lin Qile propped her chin on her hand, suddenly realizing even the unattainable ice queen had her adorable side.
After dinner, Rong Jing no longer felt seasick, so Lin Qile decisively dragged her out.
“Can’t you go by yourself?”
“This is our honeymoon! We know it’s fake, but others don’t. Don’t we need some photos to shut our families up?”
Pulling Rong Jing to the deck and wrapping an arm around her, she took out her phone. “Come on, smile.”
Click!
Checking the photo, Rong Jing looked unwilling, and the image was slightly blurry.
“Let’s retake it.”
“It’s not good, take it again!”
“Hey, smile a little! Don’t look like I owe you a million bucks…”
After over a dozen failed attempts, she nearly gave up.
“Lin Qile?”
Turning around, she saw Wu Xue, the woman she’d helped earlier, approaching with a bright smile. “Hey, I thought I recognized you! You left in such a hurry this afternoon, I didn’t even get to ask where you’re staying. There’s a dance on the cruise tomorrow night. Will you be there?”
“A dance? Too bad I can’t dance, but it’d be fun to watch.”
“You don’t seem like someone who can’t dance.”
Rong Jing, who had been leaning against the railing, tilted her head slightly at their conversation.
A female Omega.
Wu Xue noticed Rong Jing and smiled. “And this is…?”
“She’s—”
Rong Jing stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Lin Qile’s waist and nestling against her, but her gaze remained fixed on Wu Xue. “Could you take a photo for us?”
Their pheromones mingled, making Wu Xue pause for a second before she smiled.
“Right! I’m terrible at selfies. Could you help us, Miss Wu?”
Wu Xue nodded. “Of course.”
The two posed by the railing.
Rong Jing, who had been completely uncooperative earlier, now melted against Lin Qile, her nose brushing Lin Qile’s neck, breath tickling her skin, enough to give Lin Qile goosebumps. “What are you doing?”
“Don’t you want intimate photos to show them?”
“This is already intimate enough.”
“Is it?”
Wu Xue’s smile stiffened as she raised the phone. “Okay, hold still.”
Click!
After three shots, she was about to return the phone when Rong Jing spoke again. “Miss Wu, a few more, please.”
“Sure, just pose,”
Before she could finish, the two kissed right in front of her.
Rong Jing cupped Lin Qile’s face, deepening the kiss into something unmistakably passionate.
Breaking apart, Rong Jing turned to Wu Xue. “Did you get it?”
“I… I…”
“What was that for?” Lin Qile scolded in a hushed, flustered voice before approaching Wu Xue, even more embarrassed. “Sorry about that. She’s messing around did she startle you?”
“N-no, it’s fine.”
“You said we needed honeymoon photos for our families, and now you say I’m messing around.”
Rong Jing’s voice drifted over, faintly teasing.
Wu Xue blinked. “You’re here on your honeymoon?”
Rong Jing hooked Lin Qile’s arm, resting her head on her shoulder. “Mhm. We just got married yesterday.”
Wu Xue forced a smile. “Congratulations.”
“Thanks.”
“I should go. I won’t disturb you two.”
Wu Xue practically fled.
Rong Jing spoke with a sinister tone, “They’ve already walked far away. If you want to chase after them, go ahead. What’s the point of staring at their back?”
Just a few hours, and she’s already hooked up with an omega!
“Huh?”
Lin Qile looked utterly confused.
“Hmph!” Rong Jing strode back angrily.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“Back to the room!”
Lin Qile asked, “Aren’t we going to stroll around anymore? The night view is so beautiful.”
Rong Jing turned her head and replied coldly, “No!”
Back in the presidential suite.
Bang!
The bedroom door was slammed shut right in front of Lin Qile.
?
What’s her problem now?
System, what’s gotten into the big villain this time?!
[“What is love? It makes one willing to live and die for it.”]
Oh-ho, since when did you, a system, become so poetic?
[“Don’t underestimate me, Host. I’m a system well-versed in both ancient and modern knowledge.”]
Then tell me, what’s wrong with Rong Jing?
[“Host, you’ll have to figure that out yourself. If I reveal too much, you might face dire consequences like turning to ashes.”]
Lin Qile shuddered. That serious?
[“Yes.”]
She walked to the bedroom door and pressed her ear against it. Silence.
Knock, knock, knock.
“Rong Jing? Your Highness?”
No response after calling twice. Her own temper flared up.
Even a clay figurine has some temper. Though she was usually easygoing, in her twenty-five years of life, she had never bowed her head to anyone as much as she had in the past month with Rong Jing!
Hmph, fine! If she wants to ignore me, so be it!
Let’s see who gets seasick and suffers later!
The living room sofa was spacious and comfortable, with a large TV.
She turned on the TV and lay on the sofa to watch a movie. But every time the film grew tense and quiet, she instinctively pricked up her ears, tilting her head toward the bedroom.
Still silent.
Halfway through the second movie”Ugh…”
She bolted upright, paused the film, and strained her ears.
“Ugh… ugh…”
Rushing to the bedroom door, she knocked. “Open up! Are you seasick again? Rong Jing? Rong Jing!”
No response.
She paced anxiously before finally calling the front desk for a spare key.
Opening the bedroom door, she headed to the bathroom.
Rong Jing was sitting on the floor, slumped over the toilet, drenched in sweat, her hair clinging to her face, utterly fragile and pitiful.
“You! How did you end up like this?”
She sighed in resignation. Her soft heart wouldn’t let her leave Rong Jing like this, not after their intimate history.
Carrying Rong Jing out of the bathroom and onto the bed, Lin Qile found her too weak to speak.
After a long while, Rong Jing finally relaxed, slowly opening her eyes to see Lin Qile still massaging her, forehead glistening with sweat.
“I’m fine now,” Rong Jing murmured, her voice hoarse.
“Why are you so emotionally volatile?” Lin Qile muttered under her breath. “That’s not healthy. You could develop gynecological issues, especially with your breasts.”
Rong Jing grumbled, “Can you shut up?”
Lin Qile immediately pressed her lips together.
At bedtime.
Seeing Rong Jing still unwell, Lin Qile hesitated should she sleep outside or squeeze into the same bed?
Forget it. If I can’t handle her, I can at least avoid her.
She turned to leave.
“Where are you going?”
“To sleep on the sofa.”
Rong Jing sat up in bed, her gaze sharp. “I believe I’ve told you before, I have standards. Until I discard you, if you dare mess around with others, you’ll face the consequences.”
“I didn’t do anything!”
“I don’t care how messy your private life was before, but when you’re with me, you’d better keep yourself clean and don’t provoke anyone!”
“I…”
Who the hell have I provoked?
“Get in bed!”
Frustrated, she climbed into bed. Even after the lights were turned off, she still couldn’t figure out what Rong Jing meant by all this.
Could his mood swings be because of her?
If it really was because of her, she hadn’t done anything wrong!
After much thought, she could only conclude one thing, the thought process of a major villain was beyond normal comprehension!
Midnight.
“Mmm…”
Lin Qile was in the middle of a dream where the department head announced she could independently take on patients. Just as she was about to treat the entire department to celebrate, she woke up only to find Rong Jing curled up at the edge of the bed, forehead pressed against her arm, drenched in sweat.
“Did… did you throw up again?”
The moment she touched Rong Jing, she knew something was wrong.
This wasn’t motion sickness. She quickly turned on the light and examined her carefully. Rong Jing’s face was deathly pale. “How did you get this sick?”
“Mmm…”
Rong Jing didn’t even have the strength to speak.
Lin Qile hurriedly helped her back onto the bed and rushed to get anti-nausea medication. But just as she brought the pill to Rong Jing’s lips, Rong Jing slapped it away.
Now Lin Qile was furious. “Miss Rong, there’s a limit to your stubbornness! You’re vomiting this badly and still refusing medicine, what the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
“Get out!”
Rong Jing lifted her head, her face a mess, and glared at her with the ferocity of a wounded she-wolf.
