- The Villainess Fell For The Male Lead's Frail White Moonlight
- Chapter 3 - Meeting Sister Looking Gorgeous!
Meanwhile, at the Xu family residence.
“A bunch of useless trash! How did Chu Xiao snatch another cooperation opportunity from us?!”
Xu Jie, the head of the Xu family and Xu You’s father, smashed the cup in his hand onto the ground in a fit of rage after hearing the news over the phone. The crisp sound of shattering porcelain echoed through the room.
Everyone around him quieted down and moved with utmost caution, terrified of triggering his temper.
They all knew that the Xu family’s business had been running into major roadblocks lately. Rumor had it that a small company had popped up out of nowhere, constantly undermining the Xu family. More importantly, they had successfully stolen several of their business deals!
Even worse, they couldn’t uncover any deep-background information about this company. It was blatantly clear that whoever they were, they had come prepared.
“Then what should we do? Our family won’t go bankrupt, will we?”
Xu Xi was worried sick. She understood nothing about business, so hearing that their company’s deals had been snatched multiple times made her instinctively fear bankruptcy.
Her words completely ignited Xu Jie’s fury. He snapped at her:
“Can a woman who knows absolutely nothing just shut up?”
“Stop shouting ‘bankruptcy’ every single day. Do you have any idea how annoying that is?”
Xu Xi flinched from the scolding. Biting her lower lip tightly, she didn’t dare utter another word, turning her head away to sulk silently on the side.
Watching his parents argue, Xu Mingwang was too terrified to speak. He wanted to comfort his mother but feared drawing his father’s wrath upon himself. He tiptoed, trying to slip away from this explosive battlefield and head back to his room to play video games, but Xu Jie spotted him and barked:
“And you! You’re nearly twenty and you still have no sense of discipline! Doing nothing but fooling around all day, you have no education and no ability. What use are you to this family?”
Xu Mingwang hated hearing this. He retorted, “Dad, our family is so rich, isn’t everything going to be mine eventually? Don’t you guys make money just to spend it? Besides, plenty of people in our circle fool around all day, and their parents never say a word. You never cared before, so why are you suddenly micromanaging me now?”
“You!” Xu Jie was rendered speechless by his retort. It took him a long moment before he pointed at Xu Xi and yelled, “Look at the fine son you raised! His sister was more sensible than him when she was only five years old!”
Xu Xi wiped her tears and didn’t argue back. However, when she heard Xu Jie compare her precious son to Xu You, a flash of pure malice darted through her eyes.
Nobody noticed that up on the corner of the second floor, a subtle, barely perceptible smirk played on Xu You’s lips as she overheard their conversation. Her eyes were filled with mockery.
The moment she returned to her room, someone entered carrying a bowl.
It was one of the Xu family’s maids. However, her expression was incredibly arrogant. Everyone knew that Xu You was the unwanted eldest young lady of the house, as long as they didn’t bully her overtly, Xu Jie and Xu Xi would turn a blind eye.
“Here, Miss. Drink your medicine,” the maid said curtly.
Without even glancing at the liquid inside, Xu You tilted her head back and drank the medicine in one gulp.
Looking at the empty bottom of the bowl, the maid let out a scoff, turned around, and left.
The second she stepped out, Xu You immediately locked the door, rushed into the bathroom, and threw up the medicine she had just swallowed.
She stood up and looked at her pale reflection in the mirror, her body covered in wounds. With a cold expression, she splashed water on her face.
Xu Mingwang’s birthday banquet was scheduled for the evening.
Song Zhi had been excited all night. The moment she got out of bed, she began picking out her clothes.
It had to be said that while the original owner of this body had an awful personality, her taste in fashion was impeccable. Every single dress looked exceptionally flattering on her figure.
In the end, Song Zhi chose a red strapless dress.
She already had fair skin, and the vibrant red fabric made her complexion appear even more strikingly radiant and snow-white.
Before heading out, she gave it some thought and decided to spritz on a bit of perfume. She then stepped out of the house in high spirits.
Starting today, she was going to change Xu You’s bad impression of her!
She was going to dress up gorgeously and chase after her love with everything she had!
Watching her daughter’s joyful departing figure, Tan Yingying spoke to Song Tao with deep worry. “I still feel like I’m dreaming. Does Xiao Zhi have something heavy on her mind that she isn’t telling us? Otherwise, why would she suddenly change so much? Do you know, when I saw Xiao Zhi yesterday, I had an illusion that she had reverted back to how she was as a little girl. She hasn’t hugged me or called me ‘Mom’ in so many years.” As she spoke, Tan Yingying’s voice began to crack with emotion.
Her daughter’s drastic change in temperament pained her deeply as a mother. On one hand, she regretted being too soft-hearted in the past, but on the other, she couldn’t bear to see her daughter get hurt.
Song Tao wrapped his arm around her shoulders to comfort her, saying, “Don’t worry. The child is older and more mature now. Before this, it was probably just her rebellious phase. Once the rebellious phase passes, everything gets better.”
Tan Yingying sighed and agreed. But looking in the direction Song Zhi had left, she still couldn’t completely put her mind at ease. “I don’t know how much grief she’s going to face going there today. Xiao Zhi always ends up suffering whenever she goes over.”
“It’s fine. I already told Xiao Xian to head over there,” Song Tao said.
Hearing this, Tan Yingying looked up in disbelief. “Xiao Xian is back?”
The last time Song Xian slapped Song Zhi, Tan Yingying had instinctively protected Song Zhi and said a lot of harsh things without thinking. This had deeply hurt her son’s feelings, and Song Xian hadn’t returned home since.
Because of this, she had been drowning in guilt and sorrow for a long time. She had tried calling him on WeChat and sending text messages, but he never replied.
“I thought my son completely hated me,” Tan Yingying said, tears welling up in her eyes again.
Song Tao reached out to wipe her tears away, his voice deep and soothing. “Don’t cry. When he comes back, you can apologize to him, alright?”
Tan Yingying buried her head in Song Tao’s chest. “Mm.”
“Miss, we have arrived,” the driver announced.
Song Zhi gave a soft affirmation. After quickly fixing her hair, she jumped out of the car impatiently.
Her mind was entirely consumed by thoughts of Xu You. For instance. What should I say when we meet? Does my outfit look good? Will Xu You like it?
The moment Song Zhi stepped out of the vehicle, she could distinctly feel countless gazes locking onto her. Moreover, with her sharp intuition, she could instantly tell that these looks were highly unfriendly.
Sure enough, before she could even take a few steps, she heard the mocking remarks of the people around her.
“Where do some people get the nerve? Just two days ago, she pushed Miss Xu down the stairs, and today she actually has the face to attend Young Master Xu’s birthday banquet?”
“Oh please, she’s definitely not here to celebrate Young Master Xu’s birthday. She must know that CEO Fu is coming, so she eagerly rushed over to brown nose him.”
They purposely spoke at the top of their lungs, terrified that Song Zhi wouldn’t hear them.
Song Zhi didn’t care about their comments at all. In fact, she actually agreed with them, after all, the things the original owner had done were indeed disgraceful, so it was fair game for people to curse her.
She only cared about Xu You’s attitude, and whether Xu You would ever forgive her.
With those thoughts in mind, she kept her eyes straight ahead and walked directly into the banquet venue.
Not far away.
Inside a black stretched Lincoln, Fu Nian caught sight of that familiar red figure by the entrance. His brow furrowed imperceptibly, his eyes betraying an unmaskable disgust.
He opened WeChat and, for the very first time, pulled Song Zhi out of his block list. He typed. You still dare to show up?
To his surprise, the message failed to send. Instead, a red exclamation mark popped up.
Fu Nian: “?”
Song Zhi had deleted him?
