The Villainess Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 26
Before the man in black could speak, his body was sent flying. Yun Chuanzhi was abruptly swept up by a long sleeve and deposited into a corner; she staggered back a few steps before leaning against the wall to steady herself.
It wasn’t just the man in black who had been tricked; she had been fooled this time as well. Yun Chuanzhi didn’t know how to react for a moment, so she simply clutched her aching waist and sat down shakily.
In truth, she had sensed something was off when she touched Bai Fenghe’s “wound” during the day, but she hadn’t given it much thought. Coupled with the genuine danger of the events that followed and the fact that Bai Fenghe hadn’t shown any more flaws, her suspicions had faded.
“Truly devious and calculating,” Yun Chuanzhi sighed long and hard, though she was ultimately relieved.
Her thoughts had barely finished a few laps in her head when Bai Fenghe, currently in front of her, gained the upper hand. Though she lacked a magical artifact to aid her, she could use anything as a weapon; the light sword condensed from purple light and her elongated sleeves wove together into an airtight net, trapping the man in black firmly within.
“You enchantress, you dared to trick me!” The man in black was now beyond furious. Although his face was hidden by his hood, his uncontrollable rage was palpable.
“What a joke. This Seat merely feigned illness to amuse you. You were the one who took advantage of someone’s vulnerability and insisted on delivering yourself to my door. How can you blame This Seat?” Bai Fenghe laughed loudly. She seemed not to have been this happy in a long time; her laughter rang out like silver bells hitting the rafters, making the man in black tremble with such rage that even the corners of his robe shook.
Seeing his defenses failing under Bai Fenghe’s assault, the man in black suddenly swung his robe, throwing countless pitch-black arrows whistling through the air directly toward Yun Chuanzhi, who was watching the scene.
Yun Chuanzhi cursed under her breath. Her body was in agonizing pain and the arrows were so fast they were mere afterimages; she couldn’t dodge them. Fortunately, Blackie leaped up to block some of them, but it was still futile.
More arrows flew out from the man’s body like a swarm of locusts during a plague, stabbing indiscriminately at every corner of the hall. This person’s cultivation was extremely high; even the thick walls could not stop him.
“You two are the ones fighting, why do you keep targeting me?” Yun Chuanzhi shouted angrily from behind the enlarged Blackie. “Why are there so many petty people on Mount Buxi, bullying the weak and fearing the strong!”
Blackie was already struggling to hold on, his stone body covered in pits and dents. Yun Chuanzhi, in a panic, clutched her head and cried out, “Bai Fenghe, look at him!”
Before her voice had even faded, a gauzy sleeve drifted from nowhere, transforming into a wisp of translucent mist in mid-air. It spiraled around her, forming a protective circle; when the arrows hit the mist, it was like hitting a steel plate. They snapped one by one and clattered to the floor.
“Noisy. Do you think This Seat would actually let him hurt you?” Bai Fenghe spoke coldly, then turned to the man with disdain. “You call me an enchantress with every breath, yet your own moves are becoming increasingly low class.”
“This Seat is tired of tangling with you. Die.”
With that, Bai Fenghe suddenly soared into the air. Simultaneously, a fierce wind erupted, making the candles in the hall flicker wildly. Amidst the shifting shadows, the entire celestial palace shook from side to side as if the earth were quaking.
Purple light gushed from behind her, gathering into nine dazzling fox tails in mid-air. Bai Fenghe spread her arms, and those tails lunged toward the man in black like swords.
The man was horrified. He waved his hand to form a defensive array, but it shattered instantly under Bai Fenghe’s “tails.” The brilliant purple light gouged toward his spiritual platform; the man threw his head back and let out a shrill cry, and the black robe on his body instantly shredded.
An irrepressible pressure filled the several-story-high palace. The exquisite murals and carvings on the walls shattered into stone fragments. Yun Chuanzhi hugged Blackie, her brow furrowed tight.
Is this the power of a Tribulation stage cultivation? It seemed the man in black had been pushed to the brink; to save his life, he was no longer afraid of exposing his identity.
“Master, this person seems very strong. Do you think Sect Leader Bai can win?” Blackie asked worriedly in her arms. “If she loses, will we die too?”
Yun Chuanzhi thought about it, but before she could answer, she heard the sound of something piercing flesh. She squinted through the swirling dust and was instantly stunned.
Bai Fenghe had appeared behind the man at some unknown moment. Her right hand was thrust out, a light sword piercing straight through the man’s body. The man in black was also shocked, freezing for a split second before spinning away to break free.
He knelt on the ground; the pressure from before had dissipated, and the debris flying in the air settled back into dust.
He seemed unable to believe that Bai Fenghe could bring him down so easily. He rose as if to counterattack, but another powerful aura flooded into the hall like a gale mixed with ice particles from a high mountain snowfield; it was bone-chillingly cold.
A translucent sword streaked through the air, its hilt slamming into the man’s shoulder. The man in black was sent flying like a pathetic giant bat, tumbling and rolling along the ground.
At the same same time, the sword’s owner flew into the hall. The cloud-patterned shawl embroidered with snow lotuses caught the dim lamplight, turning it into a cold, glittering glow. She came to a halt.
“Why are you here?” Bai Fenghe withdrew the light behind her, her fair arms crossing slowly as she said with displeasure, “You’re interrupting my venting.”
“Things have made such a noise here; if This Deity still didn’t know, would I be fit to be a Sect Master?” Bai Xiaochen’s phoenix eyes, filled with a chilly air, swept over Bai Fenghe. “What happened?”
“Doesn’t the Sect Master pride herself on seeing everything clearly? Can’t you see now?” Bai Fenghe said. The two of them talked with sharp, hidden barbs; Yun Chuanzhi, shrinking in the corner, felt like they might start fighting at any moment.
“Reporting to the Sect Master!” Yun Chuanzhi only wanted to end this farce quickly, so she shouted her answer. “This person is from Mount Buxi. He thought the Sect Leader was seriously injured, so he released a Shadow Demon to confuse her, intending to assassinate her while she was vulnerable.”
“There is a demon on Mount Buxi?” Bai Xiaochen’s brows knit together. She flicked her hand, throwing out a rope to bind the man on the ground, then drew her palm back, dragging the man to her feet.
Several more people appeared out of thin air: Liao Zongfang, the Leader of the Second Peak whom Yun Chuanzhi had seen during the day, and the middle-aged woman from the Fourth Peak. They each brought several cultivators, and the empty hall suddenly became crowded.
“Someone, remove his mask,” Bai Xiaochen ordered. Two young cultivators in blue robes stepped forward. When the mask was torn away, everyone present was struck dumb.
“Junior Brother Qiu?” Liao Zongfang was the most shocked. He pointed at the man’s face, his voice cracking. “Why? You?”
“Qiu Hanshan,” Bai Xiaochen was also extremely surprised. She gestured with her chin, and the two blue-robed disciples carefully helped the man up.
“Sect Leader Bai, what is the meaning of this? Why did you fight with Sect Leader Qiu?” the middle-aged woman asked sternly, turning to look at Bai Fenghe.
“What, are you going to frame and blame me again?” Bai Fenghe brushed her hair back, looking at them with a side glance and a sweet smile. “Pity. This time, it was Sect Leader Qiu who came looking for trouble with me.”
“And he hasn’t looked for trouble just once.” Bai Fenghe’s smile went cold, the light in her hand transforming into a sharp sword that suddenly leveled against Qiu Hanshan’s throat. “Sect Leader Qiu, tell us. Why have you repeatedly sought people to assassinate me in secret?”
“And why did you send a Shadow Demon to confuse me, appearing when I feigned an inability to resist, attempting to take my life?”
Upon hearing this, Liao Zongfang and the middle-aged woman looked at Qiu Hanshan in disbelief and fell silent.
“Why?” Qiu Hanshan, who had been silent, coughed twice and spoke with a pale face. “This Seat knows I haven’t long to live. I wanted to use my remaining strength to kill you, this enchantress, and avenge the former Sect Master.”
“That you are alive today is only due to the mercy of the cultivators. For an ungrateful, wicked enchantress like you to live is a misfortune for the entire Mount Buxi sect!”
As he spoke, he began to laugh, blood trickling from the corners of his mouth. “Bai Fenghe, I didn’t expect someone like you would still have people swearing lifelong loyalty. But don’t worry, no one will truly care about an enchantress.”
“Everyone is waiting to bring you to justice. Be careful; one day”
He didn’t finish his sentence because the light sword in Bai Fenghe’s hand suddenly extended a few inches, piercing his chest and twisting twice. The man gritted his teeth, trembling in pain.
“Bai Fenghe!” Bai Xiaochen hurriedly waved her hand to knock the light sword away. “You must not do this!”
“Enchantress, stop!” Liao Zongfang also scolded, stepping between Bai Fenghe and Qiu Hanshan. He said angrily, “Junior Brother was only concerned for Sect Master Mingcun, he”
“So I deserve to die?” Bai Fenghe said softly. She seemed amused, tucking her hands behind her back, her laughter making her hair shake slightly. “Senior Sister, you tell me. Do I deserve to die?”
Bai Xiaochen did not speak. She looked at Bai Fenghe with eyes devoid of emotion, then looked away, interrupting Liao Zongfang’s attempt to plead: “Take him to the celestial prison.”
“Sect Master” Liao Zongfang wanted to speak again, but one look from Bai Xiaochen sent him looking down at his feet, huffing into his beard.
“Sect Leader Bi,” Bai Xiaochen turned to the middle-aged woman. “Please send people to the Third Peak to thoroughly investigate the matter of raising demons. That there is a demon within our Mount Buxi sect is a grave oversight; if it had harmed any disciples, you and I would be held responsible. Furthermore, you will temporarily take over the affairs of the Third Peak. Do not let this matter spread.”
The middle-aged woman accepted the order and left. Several blue-robed cultivators stepped forward cautiously and took away the limp, eyes-closed Qiu Hanshan.
Bai Xiaochen passed by Bai Fenghe with her hands behind her back. Her lips moved, but she didn’t speak. She simply said “Rest well” before flicking her robes and leaving. Liao Zongfang and the other cultivators followed.
The hall quickly fell silent. After a while, Yun Chuanzhi spoke up softly: “Sect Leader, can I come out now?”
Bai Fenghe looked up at her, then waved her hand to dispel the mist. Yun Chuanzhi finally stood up by leaning against the wall. Blackie returned to his normal size and climbed onto her shoulder.
Yun Chuanzhi’s head was swimming with pain. She struggled to pull out a few blood elixirs, but just as she was about to put them in her mouth, the spiritual power Bai Fenghe flicked out snatched them away and crushed them.
“Low level blood elixirs aren’t very effective. Eat this from now on.” Bai Fenghe tossed over an exquisite white jade porcelain bottle. Yun Chuanzhi caught it with both hands and sniffed it; she instantly felt as if a clear breeze had swept through her mind, clearing away all impurity.
She quickly took one. The pain in her body vanished instantly, and she felt as refreshed as if she had just slept for three days and nights.
“Thank you, Sect Leader,” Yun Chuanzhi said happily, then suddenly remembered something and her smile faded. “Ling Shui and Cheng Jinshu”
“Don’t worry, they are fine. This Seat already ordered people to rescue them. Besides, did you really think a mere Shadow Demon could do anything to This Seat?” A hint of fatigue remained in Bai Fenghe’s eyes, but her face was no longer pale. She turned and walked into the inner hall.
She reached out and made a grasping motion in the air; a dark, furry little thing fell from above to the floor, clutching its nose and squeaking.
Yun Chuanzhi stepped forward to look, picking it up by its neck. She smiled. “Is this that ‘great demon’? It looks like a black rat; not grand at all.”
“If you like it, keep it as a pet,” Bai Fenghe left behind coldly. She climbed the stairs; everywhere she passed, the decorations and furniture shattered during the fight returned to their original state.
“No, I hate rats most.” Yun Chuanzhi tossed it away, and the Shadow Demon turned into a pile of ash in mid-air.
Tch, quite pitiful, Yun Chuanzhi thought with regret, then rolled up her sleeves to chase after Bai Fenghe.
“Don’t follow This Seat. I don’t need your service here. Go back to the immortal servants’ quarters and rest.” Bai Fenghe had already reached a door made of gold-carved sandalwood, pushing it open with a light touch of her palm. “This Seat wishes to be alone in peace.”
After what had just happened, Yun Chuanzhi felt her attitude toward her had changed subtly, though the change was slight and hard to distinguish.
“Sect Leader” she began again, only to be interrupted by a suddenly sharp voice.
“I told you to get lost. Don’t you understand?” Bai Fenghe said.
Yun Chuanzhi and Blackie shared a look and sighed. Sure enough, just like usual; vicious and without any change at all.
“Understood.” Yun Chuanzhi turned to leave, but a thin ribbon suddenly drifted toward her, like a cold little snake cautiously wrapping around her fingertip.
Yun Chuanzhi stopped at the sensation, turning in surprise with the ribbon’s pull. She watched the ribbon extending from Bai Fenghe’s sleeve slowly vanish.
“Was what you said in the illusion true?” Bai Fenghe spoke in a low voice. She kept her eyes down, her body turned sideways toward Yun Chuanzhi; her expression was unreadable.
“You said This Seat doesn’t need to test you, that you will never hurt This Seat.”
“Is it true?”
