The Villainess Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 11
Bai Xiaochen’s sword was still leveled at the side of Bai Fenghe’s face. Suddenly seeing an outsider, she realized her loss of composure. With a flick of her wrist, she withdrew the blade; the cold light of the sword tip danced like a blooming flower before vanishing into her sleeve.
“And who are you?” Bai Xiaochen shook her sleeves and stood with her hands behind her back.
Without the screen blocking her view, Yun Chuanzhi could finally see Bai Xiaochen’s features clearly. The first thing she noticed was a flower-petal mark on her brow that looked like carved ice. Below were fine eyebrows sweeping toward the temples, narrow phoenix eyes, and a high nose bridge that looked like a graceful mountain peak at the edge of a snowy plain.
Her lips were pale and pressed firmly together when silent; even when she spoke, she didn’t show her teeth. She looked as cold as frost, the polar opposite of Bai Fenghe.
“To answer the Sect Master, I am Cui,” Yun Chuanzhi began.
As she spoke, Yun Chuanzhi began to kneel. In just three days in the Qianyuan Realm, she had already mastered the dog-leg skill of kneeling whenever anything happened. Unexpectedly, before her knees touched the ground, she was lifted up, and her words were cut short.
What lifted her was a circle of faint purple light. The glow swept her to Bai Fenghe’s side, and after a dizzying whirl, she was pressed down into the spacious mahogany armchair.
Bai Fenghe’s hair wasn’t even mussed. She stood elegantly to the side. “This little girl is a new plaything I found. Though she’s no beauty, she has the advantage of being untouched. She does and says exactly what she’s told; she’s very obedient.”
Play with what? Yun Chuanzhi looked up blankly. Bai Fenghe’s gaze was as tender as water as her slender fingers slowly moved onto Yun Chuanzhi’s shoulder, her fingertips hooking and rubbing.
The wound on her cheek made her look like a soul-snatching demon, or perhaps she really was one, not just stealing souls, but gouging out hearts and lungs too.
Yun Chuanzhi hurriedly withdrew her gaze, not daring to look further.
“Don’t you agree?” Bai Fenghe said as she turned. Her waist went soft, and like a woman without bones, she slid into the armchair, sitting directly on Yun Chuanzhi’s lap.
Suddenly being used as a chair, Yun Chuanzhi was shocked. Her hand instinctively landed on Bai Fenghe’s waist, but the moment she touched the soft flesh there, she recoiled as if she’d touched burning coals.
“Well?” Bai Fenghe asked again. Though she still wore a smile, her eyes grew visibly darker.
“Yes.” Judging the situation, Yun Chuanzhi immediately nodded. While putting her hand back where it was, she even gave the woman’s hip two pats.
Feeling the warmth beneath her waist, Bai Fenghe froze for a moment. Two red plum blossoms bloomed on her cheeks, and her eyes instantly flashed with killing intent.
Yun Chuanzhi lowered her head quickly and whispered an explanation, “The jade pendant at your waist is digging into my thigh. It hurts.”
Bai Fenghe was speechless. With so many beauties in the palace, why was this annoying little slave the only one within reach? She hissed a low rebuke: “Endure it.”
The scene of the two of them whispering back and forth looked to Bai Xiaochen like lovers flirting. Bai Xiaochen’s pale face turned a shade of green, and her fists clenched tight. “Bai Fenghe, you,” she started.
“What about me?” Seeing Bai Xiaochen’s anger, Bai Fenghe seemed to be in an excellent mood. She raised her lotus-white arms and draped them around Yun Chuanzhi’s neck. “You’ve known my character for years. Why put on such a heartbroken act? It’s irritating.”
“Fine.” Bai Xiaochen’s fingertips dropped miserably, the marks where her nails had pierced her palms clearly visible. “I won’t interfere with your nonsense, but if you lose your sense of perspective and endanger Mount Buxi, don’t blame me for disregarding our past ties.”
“Our Master’s dying wish saved you once, but it won’t save you a second time.”
With that, Bai Xiaochen pushed the door open and left. Her snow-white cloak rustled loudly along the corridor. After a few steps, she turned into points of light, vanishing into the dim twilight.
The last of the sunset was swallowed by the mountains. Before they knew it, the sky had turned pitch black. The scenery outside the window looked like silhouettes cut from black paper, rustling in the wind.
The two of them sat embraced in the dim room. To an outsider, the atmosphere would have seemed romantic.
“Get lost.” Bai Fenghe hid her gaze in the darkness. Her tone was lazy, and her face showed no clear emotion.
Yun Chuanzhi said “Yes,” but after struggling for a while, she spoke up carefully: “Would you mind, getting up first?”
She wanted to leave this place of trouble as quickly as possible, but with a whole person like Bai Fenghe pressing down on her, where was she supposed to get lost to?
She just wanted to finish her chores and go back to her room to eat and sleep. Why was it so hard? Yun Chuanzhi wanted to cry but had no tears.
“So troublesome.” Bai Fenghe scanned her up and down, then unhurriedly stood up. She raised her hand to light the palace lamps. The brilliant light drove away the thick mist of night, making the world clear again.
Yun Chuanzhi used the armchair to help herself up. She stood still for a long time.
Bai Fenghe grew annoyed. “What are you standing there for? Do you want me to wipe the floor for you?”
“Sorry, my legs are numb.” Yun Chuanzhi gave a bitter smile.
Facing her, Bai Fenghe didn’t know whether to be angry, to laugh, or to kill her. Finally, she simply retracted her gaze, unwilling to look at Yun Chuanzhi anymore.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought about putting this demon far away where out of sight meant out of mind, but she feared the girl would cause trouble if left to her own devices. She had no choice but to keep her close.
Yun Chuanzhi took her rag and continued wiping the corner from before. However, now that the screen was gone, the entire sleeping palace was clearly visible. She saw Bai Fenghe walk to the desk by the bed and sit down. Holding a jade-handled brush, the Sect Leader lowered her head to transcribe something.
The night wind blew a finished sheet of Xuan paper; it fluttered like a butterfly before landing in front of Yun Chuanzhi. She picked it up to see dense rows of sutras.
Bai Fenghe’s handwriting was bold and flowing. One could just barely recognize that she was transcribing the Great Compassion Heavenly Mara Cliff Heart Sutra.
Yun Chuanzhi had little interest in sutras or books unrelated to cultivation techniques, but she had been forced by that person to write this specific sutra a hundred times. Consequently, she remembered every single word. Seeing it now in Bai Fenghe’s hands made her feel a bit dazed.
The silhouettes of the trees outside were still visible at first, but as the spring night deepened, they merged with all other black shadows. The wind grew stronger, making Bai Fenghe’s sleeves flutter.
There was a knock at the door. Bai Fenghe said, “Enter.”
The door opened, and in came the immortal servant from earlier that day, Pei Xunqian. She timidly carried a wooden tray, walking slowly and carefully as if afraid the soup would spill.
“Sect Leader,” she said softly. “This is the ‘Cool Melon and White Jade Soup’ you requested. It’s been cooling for a while; it’s at the perfect temperature to drink now.”
Yun Chuanzhi saw a familiar face and wanted to wave, but Pei Xunqian only spared her a glance and gave no reaction.
Yun Chuanzhi retracted her hand awkwardly and went back to wiping the floor.
“Set it down.”
Bai Fenghe spoke with her eyelashes lowered, her hand never stopping. Pei Xunqian looked at the soup in her hand with a difficult expression. “Sect Leader, the soup might get cold if left sitting. Why don’t,” she paused.
“This servant feeds it to you.”
As she spoke, she set the tray down, picked up the bowl, and walked to Bai Fenghe’s side. She knelt, shifting her knees close to the Sect Leader.
Under the bright lamps, the woman seemed to have touched up her makeup; she looked much more elegant and beautiful than she had during the day. Her gauze skirt was translucent under the light, hinting at the graceful figure beneath.
“Sect Leader,” the woman’s voice was like the most melodious zither. It made bubbles of interest pop up in Yun Chuanzhi’s heart. She stopped wiping the floor and leaned against the corner, focused on watching the drama unfold.
She hadn’t expected the shy, bashful little servant from the daytime to be so bewitching at night. Bai Fenghe really had good fortune; with so many different types of beauties actively throwing themselves at her, it would be hard not to indulge.
While Yun Chuanzhi’s mind was wandering, Bai Fenghe had already taken the bowl from Pei Xunqian. After a quick downward glance, she took a light sip.
Seeing this, Pei Xunqian instantly broke into a joyful smile, but the smile soon froze on her face.
She slowly lowered her head to see that a beam of purple light had pierced through her heart at some point. Pei Xunqian turned deathly pale. Before she could even scream, the purple light burst forth like the dawn, and the woman’s body, like a hot, red morning cloud, instantly exploded into a dazzling mist.
Blood splattered everywhere, but not a single drop touched Bai Fenghe. She sat there with an indifferent expression, conjured a handkerchief out of thin air, and meticulously wiped her hands.
Watching the whole process from the side, Yun Chuanzhi was absolutely dumbfounded.
Bai Fenghe gave her a small smile, then tossed the handkerchief aside and stood up. She commanded, “Come here.”
She hasn’t gotten into a killing rhythm and decided to blow me up too, has she? Yun Chuanzhi wondered as she walked warily over to Bai Fenghe.
Under the flickering shadows of the lamps, Yun Chuanzhi felt something was wrong with Bai Fenghe. Her jade-white face was now flushed, and her eyes looked damp, as if they had been rained upon.
She stepped forward, took the bowl Bai Fenghe had drunk from, brought it to her nose to sniff, and her whole body jolted.
“He Huan San (Acacia Powder)?”
Pei Xunqian had given her an aphrodisiac?
