The Villain Turned Out to Be a Scummy Omega? [GL] - Chapter 35
Song Ziqing’s appearance caused all the rumors to collapse on their own. However, news of the Lu family’s eldest daughter’s engagement still trended on the hot search, mostly because Lu Ge had been caught acting like a “diva” on the scene.
But soon, the tone of the public discourse shifted, and people began focusing on the couple’s breathtaking good looks.
Lu Ge’s face turned green with envy when she saw topics like “Lu Qinnian’s beauty is no less than Lu Ge’s.” When she saw comments like “The sister-in-law is also a beauty; they make such a matching couple,” she simply rolled her eyes.
“This is infuriating!” Lu Ge cursed.
Lu Kui walked over after seeing off the last of the guests and smiled at her. “Lu Ge, looking back now, it seems a bit too convenient that both of us were suddenly sent away at the same time.”
Lu Ge nodded vigorously. “At first, I thought you were messing with me, but now it’s clear Lu Qinnian was the mastermind. She sent us away so she could have Qingqing all to herself. Talk about an unfair advantage!”
“As expected of her,” Lu Kui said, shaking her head with a laugh.
Lu Ge hung her head in defeat. “Sigh! Lost again.”
Lu Kui smiled and patted her head. “Oh, my poor sister. You lost when you entered the entertainment industry, and you’ve lost again now.”
Lu Ge spread her hands. “I see that Yan Hui is still eyeing her like a hawk. Lu Qinnian hasn’t exactly won for good yet.”
“That’s true,” Lu Kui agreed, noting that she had just seen Song Ziqing seeing Yan Hui out.
Outside the Lu residence, Yan Hui looked at Song Ziqing with a pained expression. “Why?”
Song Ziqing gave a helpless smile. “Well, I…”
“Do you like her? Or was it just to save her from the embarrassment?”
Song Ziqing nodded. “It was mostly to help her out of that situation.”
As soon as she said it, she added with a shy smile, “But I also like her a little bit.”
Yan Hui’s expression darkened. She turned to the car, pulled out the pheromone test report Qi Ling had made, and handed it over. “Look at this. We are the most compatible people.”
Song Ziqing looked at the report and raised her head in confusion. “What does this mean?”
“Lu Qinnian’s doctor, Qi Ling, ran a comparison. You are a 100% match with almost all elite Alphas, but among them, I am the most suitable for you. You should be with me.”
Song Ziqing froze for a second, then burst out laughing. “Sister Yan Hui, what are you talking about? We’re friends.”
Yan Hui grabbed her arm excitedly. “Qingqing, it’s not like that! You’re supposed to fall in love with me. Look, we have a 100% match! We are destined to be partners!”
Song Ziqing pushed the excited woman back gently. “Sister Yan Hui, love between people isn’t a simple data comparison. A match doesn’t automatically mean love.”
“Then what do you love about Lu Qinnian? That woman is heartless and cold. Everything she can give you, I can give you too. Plus, I’m gentle and considerate—I have the better personality. I’m not stubborn and icy like her.”
Song Ziqing scratched her head with a smile. “I don’t really know. But I truly only feel friendship for you, Sister Yan Hui. I don’t have those kinds of feelings.”
Yan Hui’s expression stiffened. She stepped forward and hugged the girl possessively. “No, Qingqing. I never intended to just be your friend. From the moment I saw this report, I knew you were my destined partner. I must have you.”
Song Ziqing pushed her away hurriedly. “Yan Hui, do you only like me because of this data?”
“Of course,” Yan Hui said with a smile, staring at her. She couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go.
Song Ziqing knit her brows and pushed Yan Hui’s hands off her arms. “That’s not right. What you’re talking about isn’t love; it’s possession. I don’t like that.”
Yan Hui was stunned. She didn’t understand what Song Ziqing meant. In the education she had received since childhood, an Alpha’s relationship with an Omega began with possession. No one had ever taught her about love.
“And you think Lu Qinnian’s feelings aren’t because of pheromones? She only started acting differently toward you once she knew you were a 100% match, right? For that matter, how much of her ‘liking’ you is just because she doesn’t want you to be with me? Would she like you without the pheromones?”
Song Ziqing was taken aback. Yan Hui stepped forward again, embracing her intimately. “Qingqing, come with me. Let’s leave this place. It was just an engagement; as long as you’re willing to be with me, breaking it off is no problem at all.”
Song Ziqing tried desperately to push her away, but Yan Hui wouldn’t let go. She held her by the waist and lifted her chin, preparing to kiss her. Song Ziqing dodged immediately, pushing against her frantically. “Yan Hui! You can’t do this! Let go of me! Go away!”
Just then, Lu Qinnian, who had been seeing guests out, rushed over. She yanked Song Ziqing away and grabbed Yan Hui by the collar, delivering a punch without a second’s hesitation. Looking at the stumbling woman, her rage wasn’t satisfied, so she pulled her back up and landed another blow.
She had wanted to punch Yan Hui for a long time. Now that she had the chance, she was going to teach her a proper lesson.
“You bastard! Didn’t you see her rejecting you?!” Lu Qinnian punctuated her words with a kick.
Song Ziqing, still shaken, looked at the furious Lu Qinnian and then at Yan Hui, who was staggering back with blood on her lips. Startled, she rushed forward to hold Lu Qinnian back.
“Lu Qinnian! Stop it!” Song Ziqing hugged her tightly, looking back at the guests who were starting to watch, then turned to Yan Hui. “Just go, quickly!”
Yan Hui wiped the corner of her mouth and looked at Lu Qinnian with a cold sneer. “This is only the beginning. I will never give up on her.”
Watching the car drive away, Lu Qinnian looked down at Song Ziqing, who was still holding her. “Why did you help her?”
Song Ziqing froze and immediately released her. She tilted her head helplessly. “Are you stupid? If you beat her into a pulp, what if she sues you? Am I supposed to bring you meals in prison?”
“Do they not serve food in there?” Lu Qinnian asked seriously.
Song Ziqing stared at her in disbelief. Lu Qinnian gave a thin smile and draped an arm around her shoulders. “Qingqing is so worried about me. I’m so happy.”
Song Ziqing looked at the hand on her shoulder and then up at the woman. She still had that cold, detached expression, yet her deep eyes were filled with tenderness.
But Yan Hui was right. If it weren’t for the pheromones, would she still love her? Thinking of this, Song Ziqing lowered her head, feeling a bit dejected.
Mother Song was busy with work and left that same night. Before leaving, she specifically warned Lu Qinnian, “Don’t you dare bully my daughter, or I won’t let you off the hook.”
Lu Chi laughed. “Don’t worry. With us around, Lu Qinnian wouldn’t dare.”
Lu Qinnian smiled. “Auntie Song, rest assured. I will never let Qingqing feel mistreated. If I ever do, let my pheromones go into a fatal frenzy.”
“What are you talking about?” Song Ziqing glared at her. That wasn’t something to joke about—it was agonizing. Having experienced it once on the brink of death, she still felt a chill thinking about it. If Lu Qinnian hadn’t found her, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
Mother Song laughed and pinched Song Ziqing’s cheek. “My dear daughter already knows how to care for her partner.”
Lu Qinnian watched the interaction, her eyes full of gentle smiles as she looked at the blushing Song Ziqing.
Auntie Meng hugged Song Ziqing happily. “Our Qingqing is officially part of the family now. If anyone makes her feel bad, they’ll have to answer to me first!”
The group saw Mother Song off in a lively manner. Lu Ge dejectedly returned to her film set, and Lu Kui boarded the next flight to handle her project. Auntie Meng intentionally gave the couple some time alone to nurture their feelings, dragging Lu Chi back to their own villa.
Thus, only Lu Qinnian and Song Ziqing were left to return home.
Sitting in the cramped space of the car, Song Ziqing felt awkward for the first time. It wasn’t that they hadn’t been intimate before—they had kissed and touched—but back then it was mostly to tease or provoke each other, or done while she was dazed. Now that they had an official status, she felt lost.
Lu Qinnian was the same as always, sitting upright and dozing off with her eyes half-closed, not saying a word.
Song Ziqing stole a glance and felt a pang of disappointment. Lu Qinnian didn’t seem particularly happy about being engaged; she was as stoic as ever.
Maybe Yan Hui was right, she thought. She only likes my pheromones. But right now, my pheromones haven’t even recovered. I’m no different from an average person. Is that why she’s lost interest?
Song Ziqing knit her brows, a bitter smile forming in her heart. I was the one who pushed her away and hated her, and now I’m the one feeling sad because I’m worried she doesn’t really like me. How pathetic! she laughed at herself.
When the car stopped at the gates, Lu Qinnian noticed the girl beside her looking down and laughing dejectedly. She grew uneasy. Just as she was about to speak, Song Ziqing pushed the door open and got out without even looking at her.
Lu Qinnian followed her anxiously. Is she going to back out? Is she going to say the engagement was just to help me and doesn’t count? No! It has to count!
Lu Qinnian reached out and grabbed her hand. Song Ziqing turned back blankly, her face full of desolation. “What is it?”
Lu Qinnian felt a sting in her chest at that expression. “What’s wrong with you?”
Song Ziqing shook her head, pretending to be unbothered. “Nothing. I’m tired and want to rest.”
She pulled her hand away. Thinking about Lu Qinnian’s icy attitude, she walked upstairs with a hollow heart.
Lu Qinnian watched her, utterly bewildered. Suddenly, Song Ziqing stopped. She hesitated, thinking that she might as well test her now while her pheromones hadn’t recovered. She wanted to know if Lu Qinnian liked her scent or her as a person.
She turned around and looked at the woman standing there watching her. She smiled. “Let’s sleep together.”
“What?” Lu Qinnian couldn’t believe her ears. The words slipped out of her mouth instinctively. “What did you say?”
Seeing that reaction, Song Ziqing’s heart sank. She gave a bitter smile. So she isn’t looking forward to it. She really isn’t interested?
Song Ziqing shook her head. She didn’t dare test any further. She turned and rushed upstairs, whispering a heartbroken, “Nothing.”
Lu Qinnian stood dazed. She had clearly seen the sadness on the girl’s face, but she couldn’t understand why. She scratched her head in confusion, wanting to call out to her, but her voice failed her.
