The Villain Turned Out to Be a Scummy Omega? [GL] - Chapter 34
In the blink of an eye, the day of the engagement had arrived. The ceremony was set on the golf course in the Lu family’s back garden, and guests arrived in droves. Every person of standing in the city seemed to be in attendance.
Lu Ge stood at a distance, her face long with irritation as she glared at the guests. She turned back to the person smoking at the end of the corridor, gnashing her teeth. “Well played, Lu Qinnian. You’re devious enough! Intentionally sending us away so you could quietly arrange an engagement. If I hadn’t overheard people talking this morning, I wouldn’t have even known.”
Lu Qinnian stubbed out her cigarette and looked at her helplessly. “So you ran away from the film set again?”
“It wasn’t running away; it was a negotiation. My own sister is getting engaged; it’s only logical that I attend,” Lu Ge said, then let out a sigh. She looked at Lu Qinnian, who wore a long black dress that actually lent her a touch of softness.
“Qingqing hasn’t shown up. What do you plan to do?”
Lu Qinnian glanced at the dense crowd of guests in the distance and shook her head. “I don’t know.”
Lu Ge froze, then jumped in frustration. “You actually have no plan at all?!”
Lu Qinnian hummed in affirmation. Lu Ge took a sharp breath, her temper rising. “Do you have any idea how many people are waiting to laugh at you? Yan Hui even hired reporters to wait outside. If you really get rejected by an Omega in public, no elite Omega will ever want to be your partner again. Do you really intend to spend the rest of your life alone?”
Lu Qinnian didn’t answer. She was gambling. She was gambling on the chance that Song Ziqing would suddenly appear, and gambling that one day in the future, Song Ziqing would truly fall in love with her.
Lu Ge looked at her helplessly and patted her shoulder. “I’ve got the rings ready. I’m heading down first.”
At the engagement banquet, Xu Mengling walked anxiously toward Lu Chi, who was busy socializing. She lowered her voice. “Hubby, do you think Qingqing will really come back?”
Lu Chi hummed. “Qingqing isn’t a bad child. We watched her grow up; I know her. She isn’t completely indifferent toward Qinnian.”
Xu Mengling was taken aback, staring at him in surprise. “So you did it on purpose? You took her abroad intentionally?”
Lu Chi gave a thin smile. “In a way. They both needed a catalyst—one to recognize what’s in her heart, and the other to confirm the other’s feelings.”
Lu Chi looked toward the empty entrance. “Truthfully, we did push her a bit, but since things have reached this stage, there’s no other way. If she cares about Qinnian, she’ll come back. If she doesn’t care and really doesn’t show, it’ll be a chance for Qinnian to give up. That would also be a good thing for her.”
Xu Mengling let out a long breath, then her eyes suddenly lit up. “Old Song?!”
Mother Song looked at the person running toward her and spread her arms wide, catching her in a hug. “Oh, it’s been so long! I missed you to death.”
She then looked at the approaching Lu Chi. “Lu Chi, she’s hugging me like this—you aren’t going to be jealous, are you?”
Lu Chi was speechless. “Am I really that petty?”
Xu Mengling released her, her face full of worry. “Qingqing isn’t here yet. What do we do?”
Mother Song shrugged with a grin. “Then I’ll just consider myself here to watch the show.”
Lu Chi: “…”
Yan Hui turned her head and spotted Mother Song immediately. She did indeed look quite similar to Song Ziqing. But since the mother was here and the daughter had yet to appear, did that prove she wasn’t coming?
Yan Hui felt a wave of relief. She had called Song Ziqing; the girl was abroad and had said she wouldn’t be back. So, today, Yan Hui was here specifically to watch Lu Qinnian become a laughingstock.
Song Ziqing had just seen off Lu Kui, who was leaving for a business trip. Standing alone on a foreign street, a sudden wave of unease washed over her. She couldn’t help but wonder what Lu Qinnian was doing right now.
Was she finding another Omega for the engagement? Or was she apologizing to everyone and canceling the whole thing?
Knowing Lu Qinnian—a businesswoman who always put profit first—she would likely find a substitute Omega and introduce her to everyone as the true fiancée, right?
Song Ziqing took a deep breath but still felt like she couldn’t catch her breath. Perhaps it was just the bad weather? She looked up at the grey, overcast sky.
She knit her brows and muttered, “That damn Lu Qinnian. She took so much advantage of me, yet she hasn’t even called. Does she not care about me at all?”
Song Ziqing turned and got into a car, gnashing her teeth. The driver looked at her in confusion. “Miss Qingqing, are we going home or…?”
“Back to the country!” Song Ziqing said angrily. “I want to see exactly what kind of Omega she found to replace me! She must be so full of herself that she didn’t even bother to call and beg me!”
The driver glanced at her and immediately turned toward the airport. Song Ziqing felt her bag; Lu Kui had stuffed her passport in there this morning, claiming she was afraid she’d lose it. It was perfect—she could head back right now.
Song Ziqing rushed into the airport to buy a ticket, but the clerk looked at her with confusion. “Miss, you already have a booking for a flight in thirty minutes. Are you sure you want to rebook?”
Song Ziqing froze. Just then, her phone rang. Lu Kui was laughing on the other end. “Just go back. Go watch Lu Qinnian make a fool of herself.”
Song Ziqing’s lip twitched as she pouted. “I’ll take the ticket.”
On the plane, Song Ziqing kept trying to convince herself. That’s right! I’m going back to watch Lu Qinnian’s disgrace! I’m definitely not worried about people laughing at her!
She found her seat and sat down. The person sleeping in the next seat pulled the towel off her head. “What a coincidence.”
Song Ziqing jumped. Seeing Lu Kui, she froze before giving an awkward laugh. “Hah!”
Lu Kui looked at her with a helpless smile. “Look at you. Why be so stubborn? You’ve been restless for days; isn’t it because you’re worried about her? If you care that much, why did you run away from the engagement?”
“I am not worried about her. I’m going to watch the show,” Song Ziqing insisted stubbornly.
Lu Kui shook her head. “Fine, fine. We’ll go watch the ‘show’ together.”
Song Ziqing leaned back in her seat, feeling anxious. Lu Qinnian doesn’t even care about me, yet here I am rushing back. It’s so embarrassing. When I get there, I’ll just watch and ignore her!
The flight was agonizingly long. Song Ziqing imagined a dozen different expressions on Lu Qinnian’s face when she saw her. She walked out of the airport in a state of mental chaos.
Lu Kui followed her. “Do you want to go change your clothes?”
“No need. Who dresses up just to watch a disaster?” Song Ziqing said as she climbed into a car.
At the Lu family golf course, the engagement banquet was ready. The guests had long been seated, and the reporters were growing impatient. The scheduled time for the ceremony had already passed.
Yan Hui was the first to speak up. “Chairman Lu, what is your family doing? The time has long since passed. Miss Song Ziqing hasn’t had a sudden change of heart, has she?”
Other guests began to whisper and exchange looks. “Yeah, I heard Song Ziqing doesn’t like Lu Qinnian and fled the country ages ago.”
“Right, right. To be rejected and left at the altar by an Omega… Lu Qinnian might as well stop being an Alpha. What an embarrassment to the rank!”
“Who would even want her after this? An Alpha rejected by an elite Omega is like rotten cabbage. Maybe the rumors are true and she really ‘can’t’ perform, hahahaha…”
“The pride of the Lu family is actually a failure! Who even knows if she’s really an Alpha!”
“Even if she is, since she’s been dumped by an S-rank Omega, she’ll never find another elite partner. She’ll have to settle for an average Omega, and even that’ll be hard. Average pheromones won’t satisfy an elite Alpha’s needs; she’ll end up with health problems and probably an early grave.”
“Tsk… how pitiful,” Yan Hui said with a smirk.
The Lu elders looked toward Lu Chi. Lu Chi rose helplessly, preparing to go on stage and explain.
Just then, Lu Qinnian, who had yet to show her face, stepped onto the stage. The cameras swiveled toward her, flashing frantically.
Lu Qinnian wore a backless black gown, her long hair tied neatly at the nape of her neck. She looked like a noble black swan; her mere presence was enough to command the room.
She took the microphone from the host, swept her gaze over the guests, and raised an eyebrow with perfect composure. Her voice was steady. “My apologies for taking up everyone’s time today. Due to other reasons, the engagement ceremony is canceled.”
Immediately, a reporter Yan Hui had arranged shouted out, “Miss Lu! Rumor has it the other party doesn’t like you and fled the country. Is that true?”
Other reporters joined the fray. “Miss Lu, please answer directly. Have you been abandoned by an elite Omega?”
“Miss Lu, I’ve heard you aren’t actually an elite Alpha and can’t satisfy a top-tier Omega. Is that why you’ve remained single? Is that true?”
Lu Chi rose in anger. “What nonsense are you talking?! The Lu family has produced elite Alphas for generations! How could she not be one?”
“Chairman Lu, didn’t the Lu family just have someone everyone thought was an Alpha turn out to be an Omega? Is this just another deception?”
“Exactly! If Miss Lu isn’t an elite Alpha, yet has enjoyed the privileges of the rank for years, shouldn’t the Lu family apologize to the public?!”
The reporters were clamoring. At the foot of the stage, the instigator, Yan Hui, watched Lu Qinnian with a grin. This was her chance to ensure Lu Qinnian could no longer lead the Lu family enterprises. Without her, the others would be no match for Yan Hui.
Lu Ge hadn’t expected things to go this far. she thought Lu Qinnian would just be mocked, but now everyone was questioning her identity.
Even the Lu family relatives were whispering. “Lu Chi, explain this.”
Lu Chi let out an angry laugh. “This is absolutely baseless.”
“Then please respond: why was Miss Lu abandoned by a top-tier Omega?”
“Exactly! An elite Alpha has a natural attraction for all Omegas and the right to possess them. Yet Miss Lu was dumped. Does that not prove the point?”
Lu Ge stepped forward to block the cameras. “What the hell are you talking about?! ‘Abandoned’ this, ‘abandoned’ that—haven’t you considered the person just couldn’t make it in time?”
“Miss Lu Ge, you’re a celebrity. By pushing my camera, are you acting like a diva? Is this how the Lu family bullies people?”
Lu Qinnian held back Lu Ge, who looked ready to punch someone.
The scene dissolved into chaos. Security, reporters, and guests were all in a jumble. Only the primary reporter remained focused, relentlessly pressing Lu Qinnian.
“Miss Lu, please answer! Did you impersonate an Alpha to seize privileges?”
“Miss Lu, will you be resigning from the board? A liar has no right to represent the Lu family!”
“Miss Lu, answer the question! Was it because of your ‘inability’ that you were dumped by an Omega?”
Lu Kui stood a short distance away in her suit, looking at the stunned Song Ziqing beside her. “What’s with that face? Weren’t you here to watch the show? This is the first time I’ve seen Lu Qinnian so cornered and speechless…”
Before she could finish, Song Ziqing charged into the crowd. The butler was the first to see her and shouted, “Miss Qingqing is here!”
The crowd turned in shock. Song Ziqing pushed through the mob and reached Lu Qinnian’s side. Panting, she grabbed the woman’s hand and glared at the aggressive reporters.
Lu Qinnian looked at her in shock, then down at their interlaced fingers.
Yan Hui stood up from her seat, her expression going blank as she watched the two on stage. Song Ziqing, in a simple white dress, held Lu Qinnian’s hand and let out a cold laugh.
“What are you all in such a hurry for? Who said she isn’t an elite Alpha? Who said she was abandoned?”
Song Ziqing looked back at Lu Qinnian, who was struggling to hide her joy. Song Ziqing’s eyes sparkled. “You have no idea how enticing her pheromones are. I love them.”
With that, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed Lu Qinnian’s lips.
Lu Qinnian went rigid. Song Ziqing turned back to the stunned guests and the silenced reporters with a beaming smile. “I don’t just love her pheromones. I love her.”
Lu Qinnian’s heart gave a violent throb. A tender smile broke across her cold features. She glanced at Lu Ge, who immediately handed over a ring box.
Lu Qinnian dropped to one knee. In her long black gown, she looked regal and elegant. She held up the open box. “Qingqing, will you marry me?”
Song Ziqing looked at the woman before her, who was almost too beautiful to be real. Those deep eyes were now clear and bright, staring at her with a mix of heat and nervous anticipation. Involuntarily, she reached out her hand.
Lu Qinnian slipped the ring onto her finger, stood up, and pulled her into a tight, emotional embrace. Her voice trembled as she whispered into the girl’s ear:
“Qingqing… I thought you weren’t coming.”
Song Ziqing held her back, her palm touching the cool skin of Lu Qinnian’s back. She felt a shiver run through her. “I just didn’t want to see you getting bullied.”
Lu Qinnian gave a soft laugh, nuzzling her face against the girl’s neck. “That’s more than enough.”
