The Villain Turned Out to Be a Scummy Omega? [GL] - Chapter 30
Who would have thought that a day would come when Song Ziqing would be lying languidly in bed, and the one serving her tea and water would be none other than Lu Qinnian—the woman everyone knew used to despise her most.
Yan Hui called, sounding like she was gnashing her teeth in frustration. “Lu Qinnian has truly lost her mind. She won’t allow anyone into the house to disturb you. I can’t even get a glimpse of you.”
Song Ziqing looked at Lu Qinnian, who was walking in with a plate of fruit, and said into the phone with a grin, “Sister Yan Hui, wait until I’m better. You’ll be the first person I come to find for some fun!”
Lu Qinnian’s expression stiffened for a fraction of a second. Pretending not to care, she set the hand-sliced fruit by the bedside. She pulled up a chair, sat down, and crossed her arms. Taking a calm sip of her tea, she watched Song Ziqing talk to Yan Hui with a neutral, unreadable expression.
Feeling unnatural under that intense stare, Song Ziqing shot her a look. Lu Qinnian merely raised a hand, signaling for her to continue. She even offered a “friendly” smile. “Don’t mind me.”
Song Ziqing helplessly hung up the phone, picked up a piece of fruit with a toothpick, and popped it into her mouth.
Lu Qinnian had the audacity to ask with an innocent face, “Why did you hang up?”
“How am I supposed to talk with you staring at me like that?” Song Ziqing muttered, lying back down.
“Is there something you two need to say that I’m not allowed to hear?”
Song Ziqing turned her head to look at the cold-faced woman. “Lu Qinnian, I’m not an idiot. You just can’t stand Yan Hui, can you? You won’t let her come to the house, and you’re clearly unhappy whenever I’m on the phone with her.”
“Since you know that, why did you stay on the line with her for so long?” Lu Qinnian set her teacup elegantly on the side table. She crossed her arms and looked at the girl on the bed. It had been a week; the girl’s complexion had improved significantly and her spirit was returning. It was time to make a move. If she waited until the girl was fully recovered only for her to run off with someone else, it would be a total loss.
Lu Qinnian rose and took a step forward, sitting on the edge of the bed. She reached out to pull up the covers for the girl, leaning down in the process.
Song Ziqing turned her head away. “I’m sleepy.”
Seeing the rejection from such close proximity, Lu Qinnian knit her brows slightly. She stood up with a sigh. Just as she turned to leave, she hesitated for a moment. “Goodnight.”
Song Ziqing didn’t answer. She waited for a long time until she heard the door click shut before she finally looked up, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Lu Qinnian was simply too domineering. For the past ten or so days, she had handled every aspect of Song Ziqing’s care personally. Song Ziqing was truly grateful in her heart—she truly was especially for the rescue that night. But she just couldn’t stomach Lu Qinnian’s behavior. That “victory-at-all-costs” attitude and that non-negotiable possessiveness made Song Ziqing feel stifled and awkward.
Lu Qinnian stood in the hallway outside the room, head bowed. She lit a cigarette and smoked in somber silence. She had thought that by creating this forced “alone time” and ensuring she was the only person in the girl’s sight, she could change Song Ziqing’s opinion and make her like her. Now, it seemed she had achieved the exact opposite.
She looked up at the dark night sky. The white smoke from her cigarette drifted and dispersed in the gentle breeze.
Yan Hui had heard at the hospital that Song Ziqing had been discharged. She knew Lu Qinnian was intentionally blocking her, and she found it both infuriating and hilarious. She hadn’t expected the formidable Lu Qinnian to be so childish in romance—using tactics like a primary school student.
Since she wants to be childish, I’ll play along, Yan Hui thought with a wicked grin. She wants her all to herself? Dream on!
I wonder how many days that sister-maniac Lu Ge will stay on set once she hears Song Ziqing was in trouble?
Sure enough, the very next day, Lu Ge heard the news from a source Yan Hui had “accidentally” tipped off. She rushed back to the Lu house that same night.
Looking at the frail girl on the bed, the usually bubbly Lu Ge looked ready to devour someone. Her expression was terrifying.
“Was it Xie Muqing?” Lu Ge asked, her voice sharp and cold.
Song Ziqing smiled. “It’s over now. Qi Ling said Niannian already made her pay the price using her own medicine.”
Lu Ge sat down beside her, her expression finally softening. “That’s more like it. At least Lu Qinnian did something decent for once. Otherwise, I would never have let Xie Muqing off the hook.”
“Thank you, Sister.”
Watching the girl’s sweet smile, Lu Ge felt her heart melt. She grasped her hand. “I can’t believe so much happened while I was away for just a few days. It breaks my heart.”
“I missed you too, Sister.” Song Ziqing reached up with both arms, asking for a hug.
Lu Ge froze. Her sister was acting spoiled with her? In the past, she usually had to be coaxed just to give a half-hearted hug.
“Sister!” Song Ziqing urged. She simply thought Lu Ge was exceptionally beautiful and wanted a hug from her sister; she didn’t think much else of it.
Lu Qinnian, who had just finished work and rushed home upon hearing Lu Ge was back, stood frozen at the door. Watching Song Ziqing acting so cuddly with Lu Ge made her chest feel tight, as if she couldn’t catch her breath.
Seeing Lu Ge lean down to embrace Song Ziqing, and seeing the girl happily wrap her arms around Lu Ge’s neck, Lu Qinnian felt a sharp sting in her heart. She turned and walked away in silence.
Song Ziqing, still immersed in the movie star’s beauty and gentle embrace, caught a glimpse of the retreating back at the door. Her smile froze awkwardly on her face as she released Lu Ge.
Once Lu Ge returned, she took over the task of caring for Song Ziqing, and Lu Qinnian stopped appearing entirely.
Song Ziqing had mostly recovered. She no longer needed to stay in bed and could occasionally walk in the garden to soak up some sun. However, she tired easily and could only walk a short distance before needing to sit and recover.
With Lu Ge staying by her side, telling her bizarre and funny stories from the entertainment industry, Song Ziqing was visibly much happier.
Lu Qinnian still came home every day after work, but she avoided Song Ziqing. The household staff found it strange. “Why did the Eldest Miss stop visiting Miss Qingqing the moment the Third Miss returned? Is she jealous? Or does she just not care anymore?”
“There’s no way she doesn’t care. She was doing everything for her, even staying up all night at the start.”
“Then it’s definitely jealousy!”
“Doesn’t look like it. They’re sisters, after all. Besides, anyone can see Miss Qingqing just views the Third Miss as her real sister.”
“Maybe they had a fight?”
“Yes! They definitely had a fight.”
Song Ziqing leaned lazily against Lu Ge’s shoulder under the sun. In this moment, she felt that life was peaceful and good. Living like this wouldn’t be bad at all.
She didn’t have to be heartbroken over a crush’s engagement, and she was surrounded by people who loved her. It was enough.
Song Ziqing gave a silly grin. Lately, the immense wealth of the Lu family had made her lose herself a bit, and the cluster of top-tier beauties around her was enough to numb her senses. Yet, deep down, the thought of returning to her own world still popped up from time to time.
But now, with a mother who loved her, the Lu family members who treated her so well, and a friend like Yan Hui, staying in this world didn’t seem like a bad deal.
“What are you giggling at?” Lu Ge pinched the cheek of the person on her shoulder. Since finding out Song Ziqing was an Omega, she found everything the girl did to be exceptionally adorable. She could stare at her for hours.
On the upstairs corridor of the villa, Lu Qinnian held a cup of coffee, watching the two on the garden bench from a distance. Seeing Song Ziqing leaning on Lu Ge and Lu Ge pinching her cheek with such a bright, triumphant smile was an eyesore.
She knit her brows, a wave of unease washing over her. If Song Ziqing actually ends up with Lu Ge, what will I do?
Lu Qinnian knew her own personality; she could never calmly accept such a thing. Besides, how could someone like Lu Ge deserve Song Ziqing? A playgirl like her could never give Song Ziqing real happiness!
Lu Qinnian took a deep breath. But right now, no matter what she said, Song Ziqing would probably find it loathsome. The girl certainly wouldn’t listen to her and keep her distance from Lu Ge.
Lu Qinnian let out a bitter laugh. She had navigated the business world for years and faced countless storms, solving every crisis with calm logic. Yet, she was completely helpless when it came to Song Ziqing.
She couldn’t handle her in the last life, resulting in the Lu family being turned upside down. She hadn’t expected that in this life, even though the girl had stopped her schemes, she still had no way to deal with her. She almost wished the girl would go back to being a’ambitious villain; at least then, the girl’s mind would be on her, thinking of ways to outwit her. Now, she probably didn’t think of her at all.
Lu Qinnian shook her head. She realized that Lu Ge’s ability to move effortlessly among so many beauties was actually a skill in itself. She, on the other hand, couldn’t even handle a girl who had never truly been in love. She could only watch as she grew closer to others and further from her.
At dinner, Lu Ge completely ignored Lu Qinnian, busy serving food to Song Ziqing. Song Ziqing kept saying “Thank you, Sister” with every bite. Lu Qinnian ate in a feigned state of calm, not saying a word.
The staff stole glances but didn’t dare interfere, though one ventured to speak: “Third Miss, your manager called the house. She asked you to return her call.”
Lu Ge shot her an irritated look and sighed. She turned to the eating Song Ziqing with a beaming smile. “Qingqing, I have to go back to the set. It looks like I can’t run away any longer.”
Song Ziqing looked up and laughed. “Go ahead, Sister. I want to see your new show; it sounds very interesting.”
Lu Ge suddenly leaned in close, her eyes sparkling as she watched the startled girl. “How would Qingqing feel if she saw me kissing another actor?”
Lu Qinnian watched as Lu Ge leaned in so close she looked ready to kiss her. She knit her brows and said coldly, “We are eating. Mind your manners.”
Lu Ge shot her a glance and backed off slightly, but kept her eyes fixed on Song Ziqing. “So, what would you feel? Would you dislike it?”
Lu Qinnian looked toward Song Ziqing, her hand gripping her chopsticks tightly in suspense.
Song Ziqing shook her head in confusion. “No? I actually love watching pretty sisters kiss!”
Lu Ge’s expression froze. Beside them, Lu Qinnian was stunned for a second before looking down with a subtle smile. She slowly picked up a piece of food and placed it in Song Ziqing’s bowl.
Lu Ge stared at Lu Qinnian in shock. “You actually served her food?!”
For a moment, Lu Ge’s “expression management” failed her completely. She looked at her sister in disbelief. The staff were equally shocked. So they didn’t have a fight?!
Lu Qinnian let out an embarrassed cough, trying to look composed as she served herself. “Am I not allowed to serve her just because you do?”
Song Ziqing looked down at the food in her bowl, then at Lu Qinnian, who was trying to look as steady as an old dog but didn’t even dare to look up. It was actually a little… cute?!
Lu Ge suddenly grabbed her hand. “Don’t eat it. Aren’t you afraid she’s poisoned it to get rid of you?”
Lu Qinnian: “…”
Am I really that terrible and vicious in your eyes?!
