The Villain Turned Out to Be a Scummy Omega? [GL] - Chapter 25
Since Lu Qinnian had overheard that video call, Song Ziqing had been exceptionally quiet. She kept her head down during meals, and even when Lu Qinnian changed her bandages, she simply extended her foot obediently. Lu Qinnian, never one for small talk, didn’t say a superfluous word either.
The moment her foot healed, Song Ziqing moved back to her own room in a hurry, finally letting out a true sigh of relief.
When Lu Qinnian returned to the house and found Song Ziqing gone, a shadow of disappointment flickered across her usually calm face. She turned and made a phone call.
“What’s wrong?” Dr. Qi Ling answered, sounding a bit anxious. Receiving a sudden call from Lu Qinnian usually meant trouble.
Lu Qinnian said calmly, “You didn’t tell anyone else about Song Ziqing’s pheromone test results, did you?”
“Of course not. We have strict confidentiality protocols, and I’m the best at keeping secrets.”
“Good. Remember, tell no one. Not even Lu Kui or the others.”
“Understood,” Qi Ling replied, then added with a laugh, “Is that the only reason you called? You gave me a fright—I thought you’d gotten carried away and marked someone.”
“I am not that impulsive,” Lu Qinnian stated firmly.
“Right, right,” Qi Ling chuckled.
Lu Qinnian suddenly added, “Accompany me to the mall this weekend.”
“Huh?” Qi Ling looked at her phone in disbelief to confirm it was really Lu Qinnian. “Why don’t you ask Miss Qingqing?”
“I’m buying things for her.”
“Ooh—” Qi Ling gave a wicked grin. “So, it’s a surprise.”
“Meet me at the mall at nine on Saturday morning,” Lu Qinnian said and promptly hung up.
Qi Ling stared at her phone and rolled her eyes. “Infuriating woman!”
She began tidying her desk to leave. Just as she stepped out of her office, she collided with someone in the hallway, sending her files flying everywhere.
Complaining under her breath, Qi Ling scrambled to gather Song Ziqing’s pheromone reports. The person she had bumped into reached down and picked up the final sheet.
Qi Ling looked up and nearly fell over in shock. “Yan Hui? What are you doing at this hospital?”
Yan Hui glanced at the comparison results between her own pheromones and Song Ziqing’s. Her eyebrows rose slightly, and a thin smile touched her lips. “I didn’t expect to find my own pheromone comparison in a Lu family hospital.”
Qi Ling scrambled up to snatch it back, but Yan Hui nimbly dodged. “A 100% match with Song Ziqing! Such a match is rare nowadays. With your limited experience, you’ve probably never seen one before, have you?”
Qi Ling snorted. “I’ve seen plenty. Song Ziqing is a 100% match with almost every elite Alpha. You’re just one of many.”
“Oh?” Yan Hui looked at the stack in Qi Ling’s hands. “Let me see.”
Qi Ling shook her head, but Yan Hui gave her a hollow smile. “You wouldn’t want Lu Qinnian to find out I’ve seen this, would you?”
Qi Ling froze, and Yan Hui took the opportunity to seize the reports. She flipped through them; almost every named elite Alpha was a 100% match, including the Lu sisters. However, the final conclusion stated that she was the most compatible with Song Ziqing.
Yan Hui kept the final report and patted Qi Ling on the shoulder. “Thanks, Doctor. If the Lu family ever becomes too much for you, you’re welcome at the Yan estate.”
“Hmph!” Qi Ling brushed the hand off her shoulder. She watched Yan Hui leave, then looked miserably at her remaining files. Yan Hui had taken her own page and the final summary.
I’m doomed! Qi Ling hung her head in despair.
Song Ziqing, still unaware of the looming danger, answered her phone immediately when she saw the caller ID. “Sister Yan Hui.”
Yan Hui paused, finding the voice on the other end exceptionally sweet today. A smile spread across her usually composed face. “Is your foot better, Qingqing?”
“It’s fine now, it was just a scrape.”
Yan Hui smiled. “That’s good. I was going to visit you, but Lu Qinnian had people block me at the gates. I’ve been worried she was bullying you.”
“No, she hasn’t,” Song Ziqing laughed. It was true; lately, Lu Qinnian had been home for every meal and had personally dressed her wounds. Far from bullying her, she had been remarkably kind.
It was strange, though. Given her explosive temper, she should have been furious about overhearing that video call.
“I’m glad to hear it,” Yan Hui said. “I’ve sent a gift over. It should have just arrived; go downstairs and take a look.”
“A gift? What is it?”
“You’ll know when you see it.”
Song Ziqing jumped up and hurried to the front yard. A servant was just bringing a gift inside. Lu Qinnian, sitting on the sofa, looked back. “Who sent that?”
“It’s mine!” Song Ziqing ran down the stairs to find an exquisite gift box and a bouquet of brilliant red roses.
Song Ziqing held the flowers happily, speaking into the phone she hadn’t hung up. “Sister Yan Hui, did you send the flowers?”
Yan Hui hummed in affirmation. “And the gift. Open it and see if you like it.”
Hearing the name “Yan Hui,” Lu Qinnian’s brow furrowed in displeasure. Her face turned dark as she stood up and walked over.
Song Ziqing shoved the bouquet into Lu Qinnian’s arms to take the gift box. Lu Qinnian looked at the flowers with disdain and handed them to a nearby servant, her eyes narrowing as she watched Song Ziqing excitedly open the box.
“Wow! What beautiful shoes!” Song Ziqing said into the phone. “Thank you for the gift, Sister Yan Hui. I love them!”
“Just a pair of canvas shoes. What’s so special about that?” Lu Qinnian interjected sourly.
Yan Hui laughed on the other end. “I’m glad you like them. Don’t always wear those high heels; you look beautiful in sneakers too.”
“Thank you! You have such good taste. How did you know my size?”
Yan Hui smiled tenderly. “I saw your feet when you took your shoes off that day. I could estimate it.”
“Wow! You’re amazing, Sister Yan Hui!” Song Ziqing sat on the sofa to try them on; they were a perfect fit.
Lu Qinnian’s face was ashen. “What’s so ‘amazing’ about that?”
Song Ziqing looked up at her. “Do you know what size I wear?”
Lu Qinnian froze. She opened her mouth but had no answer. In the past, she had loathed the girl; she had been too busy hating her to notice the size of her shoes.
She managed to say, “You can tell me, and I’ll buy them for you. As many as you want.”
Song Ziqing rolled her eyes at her. “I prefer gifts. They’re a surprise.”
“Exactly,” Yan Hui added, fueling the fire through the speakers. “Treating someone well means taking the initiative to give them what they need and making them happy. It’s not about waiting for them to ask.”
“What does it have to do with you? Stop sending things to our house!” Lu Qinnian snapped.
Yan Hui chuckled. “Lu Qinnian, aren’t you being a bit too domineering? I sent them to Qingqing, not you. Why are you so worked up? Besides, we are equals—in fact, I might even be more suitable for her than you are.”
Lu Qinnian stiffened. Did Yan Hui find out about the universal compatibility? Given Yan Hui’s methods, it was entirely possible she had discovered the truth after learning Qingqing was an Omega.
Song Ziqing admired the shoes on her feet, picking up the phone to say her thanks one last time before hanging up.
Lu Qinnian watched her with dissatisfaction. “Are you really that happy?”
“It’s a surprise gift! Of course. And they’re my favorite kind of canvas shoes.” Song Ziqing lifted her feet; flat shoes were definitely more her style. High heels were far too exhausting.
Lu Qinnian felt even more uncomfortable. “I can give you gifts too. You aren’t allowed to accept things from others from now on.”
Song Ziqing looked up at her. “Yan Hui was right. You are too domineering.”
“I—” Just as Lu Qinnian was about to argue, Song Ziqing’s phone rang again. The caller ID showed Song Chi. He was the one who had helped Song Ziqing spike Lu Qinnian’s coffee—her right-hand man in her villainous schemes.
Song Ziqing stood up quickly, walking to a corner to answer warily. “What is it?”
Song Chi: “Boss, everything is ready. Once Lu Qinnian signs this afternoon, the project is a go. Lu Qinnian will lose everything, and you can use the opportunity to enter the company. Those two trust you so much; soon, the entire Lu Group will be under your command.”
Song Ziqing’s heart skipped a beat. In the original plot, Lu Qinnian signed a project prepared by Song Ziqing—a project that was fatally flawed. A collapse occurred at the construction site, resulting in deaths. Lu Qinnian was ostracized by the board and nearly went to prison. She lost everything and was crushed by the Yan family. Although she eventually defeated the villainous Song Ziqing, the Lu family was left in ruins. Lu Qinnian tried to start over but was suppressed at every turn and eventually forced to leave the market.
“Boss? Are you listening?”
Song Ziqing snapped out of it. Watching Lu Qinnian prepare to leave the house, she asked the person on the phone nervously, “Can we just… not have her sign it?”
“Huh?” Song Chi shook his head. “That’s impossible. We’ve invested too much. If we back out now, you’ll go bankrupt. No one will trust you. Some people are already wavering because of your status. Boss, you can’t be soft-hearted now.”
“What if I insist on stopping?” Song Ziqing asked.
Song Chi paused. Once he found out she wasn’t an Alpha, he hadn’t placed much hope in her anyway. The arrow was already on the string. If they won, he would be the one pulling the strings; if they lost, Song Ziqing would take the fall. It was a win-win for him. He couldn’t stop now.
“Boss, everything is in motion. It can’t be stopped.”
Song Ziqing knit her brows. Watching Lu Qinnian’s car pull away, she asked anxiously, “Is the signing this afternoon?”
Song Chi: “Yes. Three o’clock.”
“Fine.” Song Ziqing hung up and rushed out the door. No matter what, she had to stop this tragedy—it was the only way to save herself.
In the company conference room, the other party had already arrived. Song Chi watched from a distance as Lu Qinnian walked in. Everything was going according to plan.
Just as she was about to leave, she saw a familiar figure: Song Ziqing.
Song Ziqing pushed the door open, breathless. “Don’t sign it!”
Lu Qinnian was holding a pen, the contract right in front of her. Song Ziqing ran over, panting, and shook her head frantically. “You can’t sign this.”
Lu Qinnian looked up at the flushed, breathless girl. Of course she wasn’t going to sign; she had been reborn, so how could she fall into the same trap twice?
But she was curious about this little wolf. She had risked everything to lure her into this pit, so why stop her now? Was there another scheme afoot?
She asked, “Why?”
The representatives from the other company looked at each other. They had been dealing with Song Chi and didn’t know Song Ziqing was the one behind it.
Outside the door, Song Chi watched Song Ziqing, her teeth bared in anger. What a useless Omega!
The representative smiled. “Miss Song, for you to burst in and say we can’t sign… you must have a reason. Otherwise, it makes it look like we have some kind of hidden agenda.”
Lu Qinnian nodded in agreement. “Exactly, Qingqing. You shouldn’t talk nonsense. I think this project looks quite good.”
Song Ziqing froze. Looking at Lu Qinnian, she sat down beside her in a panic and whispered, “It’s a trap.”
Lu Qinnian acted as though she didn’t understand. She smiled and patted the girl’s shoulder. “Alright, stop playing. Once Sister signs the contract, I’ll take you to eat something delicious.”
Song Ziqing watched in horror as Lu Qinnian reached for the contract and gripped the pen again. She desperately grabbed the hand holding the pen. “What will it take for you not to sign?”
Lu Qinnian looked at her with feigned confusion. “If there’s a great benefit to not signing, of course I won’t.”
“What benefit do you want?” Song Ziqing glared at her. She couldn’t understand what was wrong with this old fox. She had warned her, yet she was still insisting on signing. Was her brain broken?!
Lu Qinnian tilted her head and leaned in, whispering into her ear:
“If Qingqing dates me, I won’t sign.”
