The Villain Has A Yuri Halo [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 16
Tang Qingqing didn’t argue with Li Ju about whether white chrysanthemums or white roses were more beautiful. She leaned quietly against Li Ju’s embrace. After a while, she whispered, “Xiao Ju will live to be a hundred.”
The words made Li Ju, the subject of the sentiment, shake her head. She was a villain, after all, a task-runner meant to go offline once the story was over.
But perhaps the atmosphere was too warm, or the dependence the woman in her arms showed made Li Ju feel content. So, Li Ju wrapped her arm around Tang Qingqing’s waist, closing her eyes languidly and saying with a relaxed air, “Of course. I’ve still got so many tricks up my sleeve to tease you with. How could a genius like me die young?”
She was feigning ignorance, her small bit of kindness telling her not to shatter Tang Qingqing’s hope. Let her continue happily with her misunderstanding.
Li Ju’s playful jab made Tang Qingqing purse her lips into a smile. She suddenly felt the guest room’s sofa was a little too big. If it were narrower, they would be even closer.
People were always greedy. Even after getting what they longed for, they would still desire more. Tang Qingqing’s greed always seemed to surface when she was with Li Ju.
She couldn’t help it. Li Ju was just that important.
After some time, a knock came at the door. The maid exchanged a look with Li Zhen, who then felt his heart settle.
Thank goodness there was no big commotion. It would have been a shame if that girl Qingqing got upset.
Ever since they’d gone into the guest room, the maid had been periodically pressing her ear to the door, and Li Zhen had also been keeping an eye on the situation. But, unexpectedly, the two hadn’t fought. Instead, it was completely silent.
Li Zhen was filled with a mix of emotions. The girls were all grown up now. There was no way to guess what was on their minds.
The maid’s knock caught their attention. Li Ju smiled and teased, “Dinner’s ready. If you don’t get up soon, the whole side of my body is going to go numb.”
She was, of course, exaggerating, but Tang Qingqing, in her naivete, believed her.
Tang Qingqing frowned in frustration and said apologetically, “It’s because I’m too fat. I should go on a diet.”
Li Ju was straightening her collar when she heard this. Her eyes scanned Tang Qingqing’s figure, but her mind’s eye naturally recalled the beautiful sight she had seen when she pulled the blanket off her. This woman was perfectly curvy in all the right places. What on earth did she need to lose weight for?
“Don’t.”
“You’re perfect just the way you are. What I mean is, if you get too skinny, people will think our family can’t afford to feed you. Don’t go spreading bad rumors about me. If I catch you secretly dieting, you’re toast.” Li Ju ran her hand through her slightly messy hair, shooting a sharp look at Tang Qingqing before elegantly leaving the room.
Tang Qingqing, filled with a sweet feeling, covered her face and fell back onto the sofa. In her hand, she was secretly clutching one of Li Ju’s hair ties. She couldn’t help but sniff it—the faint fragrance was Li Ju’s scent.
“Tang Qingqing, what are you dawdling for? Do you want me to drag you out of the guest room?”
“You’ve got three seconds to get to the dinner table. Don’t make me wait!”
This was Li Ju’s usual fierce tone. Her father, Li Zhen, tried to diffuse the tension, saying, “Don’t rush her, Qingqing. Just eat your shrimp.”
Tang Qingqing, peering out from the doorway, smiled faintly and said, “Dad, wait for me to wash my hands so I can peel shrimp for Xiao Ju. You can stop rushing her to eat.”
Li Zhen suddenly felt there was no need for him to stick around. Fine, he couldn’t afford to offend either of his daughters, so he’d just bury his head in his food. He had to admit, without his wife Tang Ping’s presence, the food tasted so much better.
And where was Tang Ping? She had gone back to her parents’ home, of course.
Li Ju couldn’t help but glance at Tang Qingqing’s retreating figure as she went to the kitchen. She muttered under her breath, “Don’t think that just because you peel my shrimp, I’ll be nice to you! That’s never going to happen!”
The house was filled with lively chatter, and the chill of early winter was completely chased away.
Tang Qingqing watched Li Ju, who was holding her bowl and dodging her father’s attempts to put food on her plate. Tang Qingqing’s eyes curved into crescent moons, her brows relaxing with a sense of inner satisfaction.
A person, she thought, really needed to have a home.
*******
“Tang Qingqing, emergency! You need to get over here right now. Auntie… she’s going to see Gao Sheng, and I can’t stop her!”
That afternoon, Tang Qingqing received a call from Tang Ruru. She calmly watched the ginkgo leaves falling and said, “You should have expected this the moment you told her about Gao Sheng.”
“No, I really didn’t think she would get this mad. I thought she didn’t care about Li Ju. Who she liked or married had nothing to do with Auntie. Their bad relationship wasn’t a secret just to us—the whole social circle knew about it. I just thought Auntie would call Li Ju or scold her in person, and that would be that. I just wanted to take Li Ju down a peg. I didn’t mean anything more by it!”
Tang Ruru’s voice was low, and it sounded like she was hiding from Tang Ping to make the call.
She was sweating in a panic. If her aunt used her wealth and power to chase Gao Sheng away, Li Ju would absolutely tear her to shreds and eat her alive. After all, Li Ju seemed to be quite taken with this poor guy, even willing to invest in his company. Even if it was just a passing fancy, Li Ju had never shown this kind of behavior toward anyone else, so her attitude toward him was clearly different.
Tang Qingqing heard the panic in her voice and asked, “Why should I help you? You’re the one who took it upon yourself to reveal Gao Sheng’s existence. You can handle Mom’s anger on your own.”
“You said you’d work with me, and now you’re bailing. Tang Qingqing, you’re on this pirate ship whether you like it or not. Do you believe I’ll call Li Ju right now and tell her the person Gao Sheng likes is you?”
Tang Ruru thought she was being quite kind. When she learned that the person Gao Sheng was pursuing was Tang Qingqing, she was shocked but also overjoyed. She never expected Tang Qingqing to be so bold as to steal Li Ju’s person. But this was a great show! When Li Ju lost both her man and her money, she could watch Tang Qingqing get pushed around by Li Ju and also see Li Ju’s composure break. All things considered, she was the smartest one of all.
But she didn’t expect the problem to come from Tang Ping. Tang Ruru had no choice but to appeal to her “ally” Tang Qingqing for help.
Tang Qingqing pursed her lips, a look of struggle flickering in her eyes.
Should she go or not? If she went, she could stop Tang Ping and prevent Gao Sheng from being humiliated. It would also keep Li Ju from being hurt by the Gao Sheng situation.
If she didn’t go, it would be to her advantage in many ways.
She was torn, her mind filled with many thoughts.
Tang Qingqing didn’t want Li Ju to know she was involved with Gao Sheng, but she also wanted to use Gao Sheng’s feelings for her to cut off this inappropriate relationship for Li Ju. This was why she had told Tang Ruru that Gao Sheng was pursuing her in the first place—it was all a setup.
She turned her gaze back to the white roses on her desk, which had once again become her favorite. She sighed helplessly, looking as if Li Ju was just too much for her to handle.
She cared about Li Ju so much, how could she bear to see her in pain?
“Where are you?”
Tang Qingqing decided to go and stop Tang Ping. Li Ju had been busy with work lately and had lost some weight. Even if Tang Qingqing had a plan to use the situation with her and Gao Sheng, now wasn’t the time. She shouldn’t add to Li Ju’s worries. Li Ju was so tired, so Tang Qingqing had to be a good girl.
“Thank goodness you finally came to your senses.”
Tang Ruru had a mind to cause trouble, but not much. When things went south, she immediately thought of Tang Qingqing as her savior.
Tang Qingqing listened to Tang Ruru’s nonsense with a cold face. After getting the address, she hung up the phone.
“Mr. Fang, something came up at home. Could you please cover my next class? I’ll teach your class on Wednesday.”
Her colleague was easygoing; it was just a small favor.
Tang Qingqing thanked him with a gentle smile. “Thank you, Mr. Fang.”
“Don’t mention it.”
After Tang Qingqing left, Mr. Fang put his hand on his heart and said to another colleague, “No wonder Ms. Tang always has a serious look on her face. She has to, she’s so easy to fall for. Hey, do you think Ms. Tang is dating someone?”
“I don’t think so? Didn’t someone say she has a ‘deep background’? Not many people at our school have the guts to pursue her.”
“I know that. I heard the dean say something about her being an adopted daughter of some wealthy family. I heard that family’s only daughter often bullies Ms. Tang.”
“What? Seriously? That’s awful. Ms. Tang is so nice.”
If Li Ju heard her colleagues’ gossip, she would definitely call the dean a big blabbermouth for spilling everything.
But right now, Li Ju was staring at the business plan her assistant had brought her, her face grim. The plan clearly outlined various advertising and marketing arrangements for the company, and everything was logical and well-thought-out. The only problem was that Gao Sheng still hadn’t given up; he still intended to ask Tang Qingqing to be the brand spokesperson.
She shot up from her chair, grabbed the landline, and dialed a number.
“Assistant Lin, I need you to inform Gao Sheng immediately. If he’s not at the company in ten minutes, I’m pulling my investment and he’s out!”
“Ten minutes?”
“Yes, ten minutes!”
Assistant Lin didn’t hesitate to take on the task. She didn’t care whether Gao Sheng could make it. In fact, she hoped Li Ju would chew him out. She’d offered him plenty of popular celebrities, but he hadn’t liked a single one of them. If it weren’t for Li Ju’s influence, those celebrities wouldn’t even be willing to endorse some unknown product. This Gao Sheng really had a lot of nerve.
Soon, Li Ju’s direct line rang again. Assistant Lin was surprised. “Ms. Li, you’re going to Mr. Gao’s company? Then I don’t need to notify him. Okay, okay, I understand. I’ll move today’s meeting to tomorrow. You can count on me.”
Li Ju changed her mind quickly. Calling him over just to yell at him was no fun. If she was going to yell, she was going to do it in front of all of Gao Sheng’s employees.
She wasn’t dead yet. Did he really think her money grew on trees, that he could just spend it however he wanted?
Li Ju drove furiously to Gao Sheng’s company. She stormed in, her long, wavy hair swaying behind her, every strand seemingly filled with murderous intent.
“Where is Gao Sheng?”
When Zhao Zhang saw Li Ju, he felt his hair stand on end in alarm. He stammered, “Gao Sheng, he…”
Li Ju pushed Zhao Zhang aside, her face cold. “Don’t block my way. He’s in his office, right?”
Zhao Zhang normally wouldn’t dare to offend this woman, but for his brother’s future, he had to stop Li Ju.
But Li Ju saw the look on his face and immediately caught on. “You guys are up to something.”
Zhao Zhang gave a nervous, dry laugh. Who said this woman was brainless and only knew how to chase men?
Li Ju made a quick move to get around him, striding confidently to the office door and pushing it open.
With one glance, she saw Tang Qingqing sitting on the sofa.
A beauty like a piece of jade, elegant and serene.
Tang Qingqing’s eyes flickered, and she instinctively smiled at Li Ju.
It was a beautiful and sweet smile, but Li Ju felt like she had just swallowed a sour lemon.
She was out working hard to support everyone, and what was Tang Qingqing doing? Behind her back, she was meeting with the male lead!
“Tang Qingqing, you better explain to me why you are here.”
