The Villain Has A Yuri Halo [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 11
Crossing the line without a second thought, Tang Qingqing’s hand came to rest on Li Ju’s chest. Her slender fingers, still warm, pressed through the fabric, straight to Li Ju’s heart.
Li Ju instantly raised her hand, ready to slap some sense into this menace, but when her eyes fell on Tang Qingqing’s guileless, sleeping face, she hesitated. She had a feeling that a slap would turn Tang Qingqing’s sweet dreams into a nightmare.
That one second of hesitation was all the time Tang Qingqing needed. Li Ju’s face darkened, her eyes narrowing as she watched Tang Qingqing’s fingers—the menace actually dared to pinch her.
All feelings of pity vanished in an instant. Li Ju slapped Tang Qingqing’s arm with full force. “Are you in a hurry to die, you old fool?” she spat, her voice laced with venom. “Do you want me to chop off your paws?” She ground out the words through gritted teeth, wanting to devour Tang Qingqing alive.
The sharp crack of the slap made Tang Qingqing frown. Her eyes fluttered open, reason slowly returning to her. Their gazes met in a silent standoff. Li Ju’s cheeks were puffed with rage, her eyes blazing with fire. Tang Qingqing’s eye twitched once, and then, completely unfazed, she closed them again. As for the inappropriate touch, she had already forced herself to ignore it. A professional sleeper knows the importance of commitment. And in the art of feigned sleep, she was a true master.
“Heh.” Li Ju pinched her cheek and twisted it.
As a professional, Tang Qingqing couldn’t give herself away. Not even a cheek pinch would be enough to wake her. But Li Ju wasn’t one to give up easily. If a cheek pinch wouldn’t work, then she’d have to try something else…
Li Ju threw the covers off once more and climbed back into the bed. She was a domineering person who never let herself be taken advantage of. How could she possibly let someone else get away with that? She pounced on Tang Qingqing, her actions even more brazen. Her soft, boneless fingertips trailed along the hem of Tang Qingqing’s nightgown, down her thigh, and all the way up to her soft abdomen.
The warmth of the other woman’s skin and the small, sensitive shiver she felt made Li Ju realize something. She wasn’t taking advantage of Tang Qingqing; she was assaulting her. Li Ju’s hand snapped back, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. She flusteredly batted her eyelashes, realizing she had gone too far.
Who… who told Tang Qingqing to pretend to be asleep? It was all her fault!
With that conclusion, Li Ju pushed up on her arms to get up, but she was so lost in thought that she didn’t notice her own weight pressing down on Tang Qingqing’s forearm. The resulting yelp of pain from Tang Qingqing came out before she could stop it. Li Ju panicked even more. She had bullied Tang Qingqing so many times, always with her head held high, bossy and unreasonable. But she had never lost her composure like this. The fumbling mess she was making was utterly mortifying!
Tang Qingqing frowned, but there was no hint of blame on her face. She was as gentle and pure as a little white flower by the roadside. Her eyes held a light that Li Ju couldn’t comprehend, as if she had finally found the person she’d been waiting for, the one who would truly appreciate her. She wouldn’t complain, no matter if that person picked her or not. Li Ju’s heart seemed to sense her gentleness, and she instinctively reached out to straighten the hem of her own dress that she’d ruffled. She turned her head, her voice defiant. “You’re supposed to hurt. That’s what you get for messing with me.”
Tang Qingqing shifted from lying on her back to her side, a position that made it easier to watch Li Ju. Her eyes held a flicker of regret. She wished she could have touched her a few more times, or been touched by her. That would have been so wonderful.
She nonchalantly kicked off the covers, exposing her figure. The loose-fitting nightgown, thanks to Tang Qingqing’s positioning, became incredibly alluring. Li Ju pursed her lips, a protective urge stirring within her for the first time. Oh, my god, just cover up. Don’t show it. It’s making me so flustered.
Every time Li Ju tried to pull the blanket over her, Tang Qingqing would kick it off again. Li Ju finally snapped. Her brows furrowed as she put all her strength into pinning the blanket down on Tang Qingqing. “Why are you so stubborn?” she grumbled. “You want me to slap you?”
Tang Qingqing tilted her head, offering her right cheek. “Go ahead,” she said.
Li Ju thought her mouth was sometimes so insufferable. She let out a cold laugh. “I’m not going to reward you. If I really did slap you, you’d probably love it.”
Tang Qingqing let out a soft laugh, resting her head on the pillow without trying to defend herself. Her long, disheveled hair draped seductively over her shoulder. Li Ju glanced at it. Hmph, her hair’s so thick and black. I’m not jealous at all. It must take forever to dry.
The playful chaos was over, and Li Ju needed to get to the point.
“What did you put in the milk?”
Tang Qingqing answered without missing a beat, “Something to help you sleep.”
Li Ju bristled at her calm, unfazed demeanor. She pinched Tang Qingqing’s chin and leaned in. “So bold, aren’t we? Today it’s a sleeping pill, next time it’ll be poison? Will you be happy when you’ve finally killed your enemy?”
Tang Qingqing had never expected to get away with this. She wasn’t a magician, after all. But she had done it anyway. It was impulsive, yes, but she didn’t regret it. Of course, she wasn’t going to tell Li Ju the truth—that she just wanted to get close enough for a hug to calm her own anxiety. People would think she was crazy.
She shook her head obediently, her eyes as clear and gentle as always. “I would never poison my Little Ju.”
Li Ju scoffed. “Then what would you use?”
Tang Qingqing’s expression changed, her eyes darkening. She smiled. “An aphrodisiac, of course.”
Li Ju was taken aback for a moment, then quickly recovered, a sly smile gracing her lips. “So you’ve been putting up a good girl act all these years, but it looks like you haven’t changed one bit.” She released Tang Qingqing’s chin and trailed her fingers down her pale neck. Her voice was cool, a warning. “If that day ever comes, I won’t let you get away with it. If I get a dose, you get a dose. I have the money and connections to find someone to neutralize it, but you’ll be in trouble, my poor dear. I’m afraid you’ll be lonely and craving.”
Tang Qingqing blinked her beautiful, innocent eyes, a mischievous grin on her face. “Don’t worry,” she said happily. “When that happens, I’ll just find you to help me.”
Li Ju scoffed faintly. “I’m not sure you’d dare.”
Tang Qingqing took hold of Li Ju’s wrists, trying to pull her closer. “Are you mad at me, Little Ju?”
She was stating the obvious, and Li Ju’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “My goodness, it’s a miracle! You finally figured it out. Tang Qingqing, this is the last time. There won’t be a next.”
Tang Qingqing used Li Ju’s arm to sit up. There was no trace of guilt on her face. She simply took Li Ju’s hands and placed them on her own throat. Her eyes were burning as she looked at Li Ju, her voice soft. “You’re worried I’ll hurt you, but I’ve never lied to you, Little Ju. Your life is more important than mine. I can’t even bear to kill myself, so how could I ever bear to hurt you? I saw how tired you were yesterday, and I was worried you wouldn’t sleep well, what with Tang Ruru and Mom being here. I didn’t want any of those trivial things to bother you, so that’s why the milk came into play.”
Tang Qingqing’s words were incredibly sincere. Li Ju pretended to squeeze her neck, but when Tang Qingqing didn’t even flinch, Li Ju grumbled, “You’re such a great person. I hope you live to be a hundred.”
Tang Qingqing laughed, her eyes twinkling playfully. “I was very precise with the dose of the sleeping medicine. Did you have a good sleep, Little Ju?”
“You take it often? Since when?”
Tang Qingqing hadn’t expected the question. Her smiling eyes seemed to glisten with moisture as she explained. “It was back when I was in school. It was a long time ago.”
Li Ju caught on quickly. “Were you bullied in school? I told you before to stick with me, to be in my class, to come to my school. Why would you let someone bully you?”
Tang Qingqing chuckled and quickly shook her head, clarifying. “I wasn’t bullied. You know, everyone goes through ups and downs in adolescence. I couldn’t sleep because I was falling behind in school and getting too anxious. The school nurse gave me some medicine, and I slowly got better. Little Ju, are you worried about me?”
Li Ju rolled her eyes and hopped off the bed. As she bent down to find her shoes, she said, “In your dreams. I’m just too lazy to bother with you. Let’s go to work!”
Before she left, Li Ju pointed at the portrait. “Three bows a day. Miss a single one and you’ll regret it.”
Tang Qingqing put her hand over her mouth and laughed, nodding. Watching Li Ju’s flustered retreat, Tang Qingqing’s heart felt like it was melting.
The room returned to silence. Without her, it felt like something was missing. Tang Qingqing lay back on the bed. She knew Li Ju too well. To stop her from asking more questions, Tang Qingqing had used that little trick. If she hadn’t, her past adolescent struggles would have been exposed. That was a secret—the very secret of when a new bud of feeling had first sprouted in Tang Qingqing’s heart.
Li Ju quickly put on some light makeup and went downstairs for breakfast. Maybe because she’d slept so well, seeing those two annoying people didn’t ruin her mood.
“Little Ju,” Tang Ruru began. Li Ju completely ignored her, her head down, eating her food. “Little Ju, are you free tonight? We haven’t gotten together as sisters in a while. Want to grab a bite?”
“Can’t the food at home shut you up?” Li Ju quipped. “Why do you have to eat out? I don’t want to eat with you. I’m afraid of being photographed. What if the paparazzi mistake me for your sugar mama? I’d be so offended.”
When Tang Ping heard this, she knew Li Ju wasn’t just insulting Tang Ruru—she was insulting her, too. They were part of the Tang family! She threw her chopsticks down, no longer wanting to eat.
Li Ju, quick as a flash, grabbed a crab roe bun and started to leave, her face serious. “Ms. Tang, I have to say, your manners need a serious refresher. I’d be so embarrassed to take you to a banquet.”
Tang Ping was furious. Not only was Tang Ruru a disgrace, but so was she, as her mother. Was Li Ju trying to start a rebellion? But Li Ju was already gone, leaving them with a cool and confident back.
Tang Ruru chewed on her chopsticks, complaining. “Aunt, can you please control your temper? I was hoping Li Ju would give me back my fashion industry connections.” She had no appetite left either and left after getting dressed.
Tang Ping clutched her chest, breathing heavily. “Qingqing! Qingqing, come down and keep me company. Li Ju is going to be the death of me.”
The nanny peered in slightly and said, “Ma’am, Qingqing has already left for school.” So stop yelling and take a break.
Li Ju had no idea about Tang Ping’s helpless rage at home. She was busy driving to her company. Just as she parked the car, her phone rang.
“The self-reliant male protagonist is calling me?” Li Ju teased.
System: [Pick up the phone already! Do you want the main plot to move forward or not? I’m waiting to fleece you.]
Yeah, like I’d talk to Gao Sheng if it wasn’t for the plot and the points, Li Ju thought to herself.
“Hello, Miss Li. I’ve considered your last suggestion, and I think it’s a great idea. To build a reputation quickly, what you said about a spokesperson is the best solution. I wonder if you have anyone in mind? If not, I have a candidate.”
“Who?” Li Ju asked. “What celebrity?”
“Tang Qingqing.”
It was a completely unoriginal answer, and Li Ju had already guessed it. But somehow, she still felt a little put out. With all the celebrities in the world, why did he have to choose her little dog?
