Chapter 34: Gone Mad Did he want to eat it that badly
When Lu Yunchuan realized what his brother wanted to “eat,” he felt completely overwhelmed—half embarrassed and half wanting to burst into laughter.
As Fu Xici’s kisses moved down along his lean muscles, Lu Yunchuan finally couldn’t help himself. He curled up, clutching his pajama pants, his entire body shaking with laughter.
“Hahaha, Brother, please! This is really weird. Use your hand, just use your hand!”
Fu Xici looked up at him with dark, dissatisfied eyes. Lu Yunchuan was laughing so hard he couldn’t stop, his white teeth flashing in the light. Fu Xici’s mood evaporated. He stopped moving and waited for the fit to pass.
Finally, Lu Yunchuan caught his breath and sat up to straighten his clothes. Seeing his brother’s solemn, stern face only made him think of what he was trying to do just now.
Suppressing a giggle, Lu Yunchuan said, “Don’t be mad, Brother. It’s… not hygienic. Let’s not ‘eat’ that.”
Fu Xici:
Lu Yunchuan reached out to hug his shoulders, but as soon as he touched him, he started shaking with laughter again. Fu Xici shoved his hands away and got out of bed.
Realizing Big Brother was truly offended, Lu Yunchuan called out, “Look at you! You get mad if I don’t let you kiss me, and you get mad if I don’t let you ‘eat’ me. Did you really want to eat it that badly?”
Fu Xici went to the bathroom to splash cold water on his face. When he came back, he kicked Lu Yunchuan out of the room, shoved a pillow into his arms, and dragged him off the bed. He pushed him into the hallway and double-locked the door from the inside.
Lu Yunchuan realized for the first time that Fu Xici could get “red-hot” with anger over something like this. He leaned against the door and knocked. “Are you really angry? Brother, you’re so petty. It’s just not meant to be eaten!”
Fu Xici gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and barked a single word: “Get out.”
It was the first time Fu Xici had ever truly snapped at him over their intimate life. Lu Yunchuan chuckled. “Alright, alright. Goodnight, Brother.”
Inside, Fu Xici was so livid he couldn’t even focus on his book. It wasn’t that he had some strange pica; it was because he loved Lu Yunchuan that he wanted to do those things. Yet this brat laughed like an idiot and ruined the entire atmosphere. His dignity as an older brother had been laughed into nonexistence.
Graduation and Reality
The college entrance exams (Gaokao) arrived. Fu Xici took two days off work to accompany Lu Yunchuan to the test center, standing among the crowd of anxious parents with a black umbrella, silently cheering him on.
For Lu Yunchuan, seeing his brother waiting there every time he finished a section gave him a sense of belonging. He had a “parent” too.
Once the exams ended, the “good student” persona Lu Yunchuan had maintained for a year finally cracked. Back at school, the classroom went wild. Students were tearing up books and throwing them like snow. Lu Yunchuan, caught in the frenzy, actually set fire to one of his books to light a cigarette.
He was standing on a desk, shouting about how much he hated Physics and English, when his homeroom teacher, Ms. Liu, burst in. The tiny woman dragged the 1.8-meter-tall Lu Yunchuan out of the room by his ear while the whole class roared with laughter.
But after the laughter died down, the reality of the future set in. Lu Yunchuan was waiting for his results and the outcome of his political clearance for the Air Force Aviation University.
The Birthday Banquet
In mid-June, the family gathered for Fu Kaijiang’s birthday. The atmosphere was different this year. Jiang Wanyue was kinder, and even the siblings were quieter.
“I’m sure Xiao Chuan did well,” Jiang Wanyue smiled. “Your father has a gift ready for you. Military school is good; you’ll have a guaranteed job after graduation.”
Lu Yunchuan nodded politely. However, the conversation soon shifted to Fu Xici’s marriage.
“Lately, many people have been coming to the house to ask about Lingchuan’s prospects,” Jiang Wanyue said. “But Lingchuan is still young. Your father and I want to find someone for the eldest first. We’ve looked at a few socialites with good backgrounds. Xici, prepare yourself; you’ll be going on blind dates these next few days.”
Fu Xici’s response was cold: “Not going.”
Fu Kaijiang frowned. “Why not? You’re nearly thirty. You’ve never had a girlfriend, never even held a girl’s hand. Do you plan to be a bachelor forever? People are laughing at you.”
Lu Yunchuan sat beside him, feeling like he was sitting on pins and needles. Suddenly, under the table, Fu Xici reached out and grabbed his hand.
Lu Yunchuan nearly jumped. He sat frozen, heart hammering, as Jiang Wanyue continued, “There are rumors about Xici. Some are quite nasty. Your aunt has a big mouth—she’s been saying the relationship between the eldest son and the foster son is ‘unusual.’ We know you’re innocent, but we need a marriage to squash these lies.”
Lu Yunchuan yanked his hand away from Fu Xici’s grip, his forehead breaking into a cold sweat. He forced a laugh. “That’s… that’s ridiculous. How could people think that? It’s too funny.”
The Breaking Point
On the drive home, the silence was heavy. Once they were clear of the Fu estate, Lu Yunchuan finally snapped. “Did you see that? People are already suspecting us, and you still dared to grab my hand under the table? Brother, are you trying to get us killed?”
Fu Xici didn’t speak. He just drove.
“Just get married,” Lu Yunchuan said quietly, looking out the window. “I’ll be leaving for school soon anyway. If you really like men, tell Mom and Dad later. They’ll find you a submissive, cute little guy. I just want you to be happy.”
The car suddenly accelerated. Fu Xici veered into a dark side road with no streetlights and slammed on the brakes so hard the tires screeched.
“Are you crazy?” Lu Yunchuan shouted.
Fu Xici unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and yanked open the passenger door. He hauled Lu Yunchuan out and shoved him into the back seat, climbing in after him and slamming the door shut.
Fu Xici sat there, his face shadowed and grim.
“Do you want me to hide with you forever?” Lu Yunchuan whispered, pressed against the door. “This relationship can’t see the light of day. It has to stop.”
Fu Xici’s fists clenched and unclenched. Suddenly, he grabbed Lu Yunchuan’s hands and forced them around his own neck. He pressed Lu Yunchuan’s fingers hard against his throat.
Choke me, he rasped.
If you want to leave, kill me first.
Lu Yunchuan felt the strength in his brother’s hands, his own fingers trembling with rage and fear. You’re threatening me, Fu Xici. Don’t push me. I really will walk away and never look back.
