Chapter 22: So Shameless Hug me if you want but don’t just start kissing me
Looking at the words Fu Xici had typed, Lu Yunchuan felt truly helpless. Even if they weren’t blood-related, they had been brothers for eighteen years. If they got together, it would be a violation of morality—a scandal that the entire Beijing social elite would treat as a joke.
It wasn’t just about their own dignity; it was about their grandparents… and the honor of the entire Fu lineage. Only if something was seriously wrong with the ancestral graves would such a “deviant” brotherhood occur.
Why can Big Brother confess so calmly? Why does he say things that leave me with nowhere to turn?
In his previous life, Lu Yunchuan hadn’t known the details of Fu Xici’s inner world; he’d assumed the man was genuinely slow. But this life was different. Spending time with him, Lu Yunchuan realized Big Brother’s mind was sharper than anyone’s. He simply had a speech impairment; in reality, he was meticulous and saw everything.
Lu Yunchuan put his phone on the desk and massaged his temples. Evading him wasn’t a solution. After avoiding Big Brother for so many days, it was time for a real talk. He sat for a few minutes, completing only two multiple-choice questions on his physics worksheet, before standing up to find Fu Xici.
In the past, he never knocked before entering Fu Xici’s room. Now, for some reason, he had suddenly become polite.
“Brother, I’m coming in.”
He knocked twice and pushed the door open. Fu Xici was leaning against the headboard reading. Seeing Lu Yunchuan, he closed the book and opened his arms, expecting a hug.
Lu Yunchuan shut the door but didn’t go for the hug. Instead, he sat on the edge of the bed and looked at that familiar, handsome face. He had so much to say but didn’t know where to start. After a moment of silence, he took Fu Xici’s hovering hands into his own, gripping them slowly as he looked into his brother’s eyes.
His complaints turned into a long sigh. “How could you like me? Tell me, what do you even like about me? What’s the attraction? Before the exams this year, I was nothing but a troublemaker who picked fights. When did it start? It couldn’t have been before the DNA results came out, right? Do you have any idea that’s called incest?”
Fu Xici shook his head slowly. He withdrew one hand to type: It was when you chose to stay in the Fu family and move in with me. That day was the first time you proactively hugged me since you were ten. I couldn’t bear for you to leave. I wanted to keep you.
Lu Yunchuan was moved. A thousand words couldn’t express his gratitude. His lips trembled as he looked down at his hands, whispering, “Keeping me in the Fu family didn’t require this. Even without this method, I would have stayed for you. What you’re doing now is destroying our brotherhood. When I only thought of you as my brother, I could face you honestly. But after what you said, I don’t know how to face you, the family that raised me, or Grandma and Grandpa…”
Fu Xici’s typing had become much faster lately, his fingers no longer trembling: I am the one choosing to love you. It isn’t your fault. Don’t blame yourself. If you’re worried about the Fu family, then after you graduate high school, I’ll take you somewhere else. No one will know us. I will support your studies.
Lu Yunchuan shook his head. “No. You’re the eldest son. This family needs you. You and I both know what Fu Lingchuan is planning; he’s just waiting for the day you leave. What if something happens to the family after we go?”
He turned to look at him. “Mom and Dad might not value you, but they won’t let just anyone take you away—especially not me. If something happens between us, they’d skin me alive. They only let me stay because of you. If they found out about this, I’d be the first to die.”
Fu Xici shook his head. “No.” He continued typing earnestly: With me here, I will protect you. Once I have enough power, no one in this family—or the entire Beijing elite—will dare speak a word against you.
Lu Yunchuan was startled by those words. He met Fu Xici’s deep gaze. “You… you’re planning to take over the family estate?”
Fu Xici nodded, his expression solemn: Tengfei Network Technology is already mine. These past few days I wasn’t ignoring you; I was negotiating with my father to get full controlling interest. I used that woman, Jiang Nan I knew she wanted the General Manager position. I won’t give the company I built to an outsider. Rest assured, when I am the head of the Fu family, you will be the most important person in this house.
Lu Yunchuan looked at him and suddenly laughed. “You have quite the hidden depth, Brother. I was worried you’d be bullied, but it turns out you’re the director of this whole play. No one would suspect you have such ambitions.”
Fu Xici: My true heart is only for you. No one else sees it. I have hidden nothing from you. If I did it, I admit it. Originally, I didn’t care about the inheritance; I just wanted you to stay with me. But Fu Lingchuan keeps targeting you, trying to kick you out. I don’t like people like him, and I won’t leave the family business to someone like that.
Lu Yunchuan realized that even living twice, he was no match for Big Brother’s intellect. Fu Lingchuan stood no chance. But then… why did Big Brother die in my previous life? If no one could bully him, why did he end it that way?
Troubled, Lu Yunchuan sighed. “What if you fail? If you don’t become the head of the house, we’re both finished.”
Fu Xici: Then I will take you to a place where no one knows us. We will live a quiet, simple life. To me, as long as you are by my side, anywhere is fine. If the Fu family won’t accept you, I’ll give the Fu family to you. Then you’ll be safe.
Lu Yunchuan burst out laughing. “You’d just give away a massive estate like that? Huo Yanxiu says the same thing that I should go to the Huo house and it’ll all be mine.”
Fu Xici shook his head: Huo Yanxiu treats you well, but he is an only son. More eyes are on him than on me. You would be less safe there. Stay with me. Study hard. Love me. I want you to be successful, and I want you to love me. Don’t leave me.
Lu Yunchuan fell silent. So in my previous life, when I left in a fit of rage, it must have been a devastating blow to him. Was the suicide a form of following him into death? He felt a jolt of realization, though it seemed unlikely—in the previous life, he hadn’t been this close to Fu Xici.
“I don’t know what to do with you,” Lu Yunchuan sighed deeply. “In principle, I really don’t like men.”
Fu Xici didn’t press him: I’ll give you time. We’ll talk after the exams next year. I’ll wait.
“Okay,” Lu Yunchuan nodded. “Let me adapt.”
Fu Xici set the phone down and opened his arms again. This time, Lu Yunchuan didn’t refuse. He leaned in for a hug. “I really don’t know what to do with you. If it were anyone else, I’d have beaten them to death by now.”
Finally holding him, Fu Xici let out a long, heavy breath, pulling Lu Yunchuan tighter and tighter. Lu Yunchuan was lean, and despite his height, his frame was delicate; Fu Xici could almost envelop him entirely.
Lu Yunchuan’s soft black hair brushed against his jaw. Fu Xici couldn’t help but press his lips to the boy’s forehead.
Lu Yunchuan felt like his heart was about to give out. He buried his face in Fu Xici’s chest to hide from the kisses. “Brother, hug me if you want, but don’t just start kissing me.”
Even though they had shared a deep kiss when Fu Xici was drunk, he still wasn’t used to such intimacy. He blamed himself—he knew Fu Xici was starved for affection, yet he’d had no boundaries, sleeping in the same bed and hugging him every night. It was no wonder Big Brother caught feelings.
Fu Xici, a twenty-six-year-old man, had likely only ever been held by Lu Yunchuan. That physical closeness had given a lonely person the feeling of being loved.
After a moment, Lu Yunchuan pushed him away. “Then you better work hard, and I’ll study hard. You have to make a lot of money to support me. I’m expensive to keep. I like planes and luxury yachts.”
A smile touched Fu Xici’s lips, his deep eyes curving slightly. “Okay.”
Seeing him smile, Lu Yunchuan smiled too. The oppressive weight on his heart seemed to find a place to rest.
“You’re better at acting than me,” Lu Yunchuan teased, pinching Fu Xici’s cheek. “You’re a master at ‘playing the pig to eat the tiger.’ I admit defeat.”
Fu Xici caught his hand, looking down at his long, slender fingers. Their skin tones were a stark contrast. Lu Yunchuan was active and spent time outdoors, so his skin had a slight golden tan. Compared to Fu Xici’s cold, porcelain-white skin—the kind of pale that came from a life of indoor luxury—Lu Yunchuan looked dark.
“You’re a man, why is your skin so white?” Lu Yunchuan muttered.
Fu Xici toyed with his hand for a moment, then lifted it to his lips. His lips brushed over Lu Yunchuan’s fingertips. Lu Yunchuan shuddered, his fingers trembling.
Then, Fu Xici looked at him, opened his mouth, and took Lu Yunchuan’s index finger—the one he usually used for cigarettes—into his mouth.
Lu Yunchuan: “…”
The warmth and softness of Fu Xici’s lips traveled through the skin of his fingertip directly into his bloodstream. That surge of sensation bypassed every nerve and hit the most primal part of him.
Lu Yunchuan’s eyes widened. He snatched his hand back, stood up, and bolted.
Fu Xici watched him flee, a mischievous, triumphant glint in his eyes.
Lu Yunchuan ran to the bathroom and slammed the door. Standing by the sink, he stared at his reflection in disbelief. He blinked, then looked down at his pajama pants in horror.
That night when Big Brother had pinned him down for a kiss, he’d felt nothing but despair and the sense that the world was ending. But just now… just because Big Brother sucked on his finger, he reacted like this?
He pulled at the waistband of his pants to check.
So much spirit. He hadn’t been this “spirited” even during the height of puberty.
Lu Yunchuan was terrified of himself. Was this the classic “the mouth says no, but the body is honest”?
“Holy sh*t… I haven’t even had a ‘spring dream’ feel this intense. Why was it fine before, but today it’s like this?”
It wasn’t just his body; his psychology had shifted too—from disappointment to calm, and now to tachycardia. He couldn’t believe he was accepting Fu Xici’s feelings so easily. He wiped the steam off the mirror and hissed at his reflection: “Are you really going to be immoral with your brother? What kind of person are you? Lu Yunchuan, you’re going to die a miserable death…”
Seeing his face flushed with nerves, his gaze fell on his own pale lips, and he suddenly remembered the deep kiss on the bed. His throat moved. He took a deep breath. Then another.
As a result, the “pain” elsewhere became more acute. He pressed down on it, frustrated and lost, finally deflating in defeat.
“Beyond saving. To actually have a reaction to your own brother… a pure animal. I despise you.”
He flipped the middle finger to his reflection.
“Idiot. So shameless. You’re destined to be ‘mowed’ down.”
