Chapter 20: Deep Kiss He and Big Brother kissed
Fu Xici usually appeared refined, quiet, and reserved. Despite his tall stature and broad frame, he didn’t seem like the type to resort to force.
But right now, whether it was because he was drunk or for some other reason, his strength was terrifying.
Lu Yunchuan had skipped his workouts for an entire summer, vowing to turn over a new leaf and stop being a delinquent. Having spent his days studying instead of fighting alongside Huo Yanxiu, he found himself pinned to the bed by Big Brother, unable to move an inch.
Big Brother’s actions felt vengeful. He bit Lu Yunchuan’s lower lip until it stung. Lu Yunchuan struggled to push him away, but the moment he opened his mouth to cry out in pain, Big Brother’s tongue drove straight in, effectively sealing his mouth shut.
When Fu Xici’s tongue entangled with his, swirling in a deep kiss, Lu Yunchuan’s struggling limbs finally stilled. He stared blankly at the ceiling, not even looking at the expression on Fu Xici’s face.
The breath of a drunken man wasn’t pleasant; the bitter taste of beer and alcohol spread between them. Lu Yunchuan’s mind went white.
He and Big Brother… kissed.
Lu Yunchuan had never been in love. He hadn’t even held a girl’s hand. In both his past life and this one, he was as pure as a blank sheet of paper when it came to romance. Although he had a foul mouth and could insult someone’s parents with ease during a fight, he was a total novice in matters of the heart.
Huo Yanxiu often shared his “theoretical knowledge” about how it felt to kiss a girl. Back then, Lu Yunchuan thought he’d need to meet someone he truly liked to even consider such an act. But his first kiss wasn’t with a girl—it was with Fu Xici, the man he had grown up with, relied on, and regarded as a real brother.
His wrists were pinned against the pillow, already showing red marks from Fu Xici’s grip. He didn’t know if Fu Xici was truly drunk or faking it, but it didn’t matter now.
He lay there stunned. Fu Xici was like a conqueror patrolling his territory, exploring every corner of Lu Yunchuan’s mouth. Perhaps sensing that the boy had stopped resisting, Big Brother’s kiss became gentler, his tongue softening.
Eventually, Lu Yunchuan closed his eyes. With his vision gone, his other senses became hypersensitive. He could clearly feel the shape of Fu Xici’s tongue.
It lasted so long that his mouth began to feel numb. Finally, Fu Xici slowly withdrew and collapsed directly onto him.
Lu Yunchuan opened his eyes blankly. A trail of saliva escaped the corner of his mouth; he reached up slowly to wipe it away. He felt the steady rhythm of Fu Xici’s breathing against his chest.
He didn’t know if the kiss was conscious or subconscious. He only knew one thing: from now on… he could no longer view Fu Xici as just a brother. Biological brothers don’t kiss for ten minutes.
After a while, he pushed Fu Xici onto the adjacent pillow, covered him with a blanket, and retreated to the bathroom with a towel.
Standing before the mirror, he saw a youth with slightly swollen lips, flushed cheeks, and a lost gaze. Lu Yunchuan didn’t recognize himself. He had never looked like this—like someone who had been “bullied.”
He wiped the condensation off the mirror and looked at the red marks on his wrists. The anger he had been holding in finally deflated. If anyone else had forced a kiss on him, he would have beaten them half to death. But it was Fu Xici. And he was drunk. Lu Yunchuan could only swallow his grievances.
He didn’t like men. Even with Huo Yanxiu’s constant pestering, he had never considered it. He wasn’t going to change his principles just because of one kiss. Even Big Brother couldn’t change his sexual orientation.
The real problem was: how could he face him now? Act as if nothing happened? Or move into a school dormitory in silence?
The next morning, Lu Yunchuan left for school before Fu Xici woke up. He looked haggard. Huo Yanxiu asked if he’d spent the night in debauchery, but Lu Yunchuan ignored him and buried himself in high-intensity math problems, trying to drown out the memory of the night before.
He didn’t go home for lunch. Finally, a message arrived from Fu Xici.
I didn’t even know when you left this morning. You didn’t say goodbye. I was in a bad mood and drank too much last night. Sorry for the trouble of taking care of me.
Lu Yunchuan’s heart, which had finally calmed, began to thrum like a drum. He typed back with feigned composure: Drink less. It’s not good for you. If you’re in a bad mood, tell me. Don’t keep everything bottled up.
Fu Xici replied a few minutes later: The family has arranged a blind date. There’s a banquet at home this weekend with the girl’s parents. If you want to come, you can.
Lu Yunchuan froze. The family is finally setting you up? Have you met her?
Yes. Same age as me, a top student from Q-University, just finished her Master’s. She works at the Fu Group.
Lu Yunchuan should have been happy for him, but it felt like a heavy stone had dropped into his stomach. He didn’t reply. Ten minutes later, Big Brother sent another: It doesn’t matter who I spend my life with. No one will truly like me. They like the Fu family’s wealth and status. See? For money, everyone is willing to marry a fool.
The words stung Lu Yunchuan. He typed back defensively: You’re not a fool. You’re very smart. Don’t belittle yourself. If the future sister-in-law likes you, it shows she has good taste.
Fu Xici asked: And you? What am I to you? Is there really not even a little bit of ‘like’? If you were willing to like me even a little, I wouldn’t go on this date. I wouldn’t start a family. I would wait for you forever.
Lu Yunchuan sat in the school cafeteria until his food went cold. Finally, he replied: Stop it, Brother. I’m eight years younger than you. In my heart, you’ll always just be my Big Brother.
Fu Xici didn’t reply. And he didn’t return to the apartment.
On Sunday morning, Lu Yunchuan received another message: Come back and take a look. I found a nanny to cook for you. I won’t be going back to the apartment anymore. Take care of yourself; the house is yours now. Focus on your studies. The whole family is here today. This is a major event in my life. I’ve made my decision. If someone is willing to have me, that’s enough. I won’t be picky.
Lu Yunchuan sat up, his hair messy, and sighed. He replied with a simple “Okay” and went to wash up.
The Fu residence was bustling. Fu Kaijiang and Jiang Wanyue were eager to see the eldest son married off so he could finally be someone else’s responsibility. Fu Xici was nearly twenty-seven; in their eyes, his value would only decline after thirty.
Lu Yunchuan arrived just in time for lunch. He walked in with a practiced smile. “Dad, Mom, Big Brother, Sister.”
He saw three new faces. A young woman sat next to Fu Xici—in the seat that used to belong to him.
“Is this the future sister-in-law?” he asked with a smile. He turned to the middle-aged couple. “Hello, Uncle and Auntie.”
The couple smiled politely. “Yunchuan, you’ve certainly matured. You’re nothing like the rumors. We heard your grades have improved too. Good, good. You must study hard and make your parents proud.”
Lu Yunchuan nodded. “I will.”
Fu Xici kept his head down, never looking at him.
As the parents discussed dowries and wedding dates, Lu Yunchuan focused on a lobster, keeping his head low. Fu Kaijiang was being exceptionally generous with the dowry, acting as if he was desperate to get rid of a defective product.
The woman’s name was Jiang Nan. She was gentle and refined, looking like a daughter from a poetic water town. Lu Yunchuan watched her and wondered: She looks kind. Will she treat Big Brother well?
The parents hit it off. “Let’s do it on National Day,” Fu Kaijiang suggested. “A day of national celebration. Let’s get them married then.” He was terrified they would change their minds.
After lunch, the families continued chatting. Fu Xici was told to interact more with his fiancée instead of just focusing on work.
Lu Yunchuan felt restless. He wanted to say goodbye to Big Brother before leaving. He found him in his room, packing his books.
“Why are you hiding here? Why aren’t you with your girlfriend?” Lu Yunchuan smiled.
Fu Xici didn’t speak. He turned back to his packing. Lu Yunchuan stood behind him for a long time, but eventually turned and left without saying another word.
Feeling suffocated, Lu Yunchuan went to a secluded spot in the garden to smoke. He was rational; he knew that if he and Fu Xici got together, the entire social circle would tear them apart. The scandal would ruin their grandparents’ reputation and shame the Fu ancestors. Education is my only way out, he told himself.
As he crushed his cigarette, he heard a voice from the camphor grove. It was the fiancée, Jiang Nan. She was on the phone, her voice dripping with irritation.
“Just a high school diploma, never went to college, and he’s a fool with a broken brain. You really want me to marry a retard? Even if he’s the eldest son, his parents don’t even value him. I don’t want to marry him.”
The person on the other end said something that made her lose her temper. “Intellectual disability is hereditary! What if I have a child with him? If I give birth to another fool, my life is over! I’m a graduate of a top-tier university; do I have to marry a moron just for some money? My parents are even sucking up to them. It’s pathetic.”
Lu Yunchuan’s fist clenched. So that’s it. Everyone was just after the Fu money.
He stood up and shouted toward her, “Isn’t it a bit early to reveal your true colors? I’m right here.”
Jiang Nan jumped, nearly dropping her phone. In her panic, she hit the speakerphone. A young man’s voice came through: “Honey, just endure it for a bit. Once you’re pregnant with my child, who’s going to know if it’s mine or the fool’s? No one will find out…”
Jiang Nan hung up instantly, looking at Lu Yunchuan as if she’d seen a ghost. “What are you doing skulking here?”
“Smoking,” Lu Yunchuan sneered.
“I was just breaking up with my ex-boyfriend,” she said, her face pale.
Lu Yunchuan nodded. “I heard. Since you can’t let him go, don’t ruin my brother. This marriage? It’s not happening.”
“It’s not your place to interfere,” she snapped.
Lu Yunchuan ignored her. He marched back to Big Brother’s room and pushed the door open. Fu Xici had already boxed up all his books.
“Where are you moving to?” Lu Yunchuan asked.
“The marital home,” Fu Xici replied tonelessly.
Lu Yunchuan slammed the door shut. “This wedding is off.”
Fu Xici turned to look at him, confusion in his eyes.
Lu Yunchuan walked over, grabbed Fu Xici by his tie, and stood on his tiptoes to look him in the eye. “I don’t give my permission. You’re staying right here. You’re coming home with me tonight. You’re getting less and less obedient. You better go tell Mom and Dad right now that you’re refusing the marriage, or I’ll go say it for you.”
Fu Xici looked down at him. After a long silence, he typed on his phone: It makes no difference to me. I don’t have the right to choose. They’ve wanted me out for a long time; they think I’m a burden. I’ll give them what they want. Besides… you don’t want me anyway.
Lu Yunchuan felt a sharp pain in his chest. He took a deep breath and looked up with a helpless smile. “I do. I want you. I never said I didn’t.
