The Ultra-Alpha School Hunk Has Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Omega! - Chapter 7
Ji Cenzhou asked hesitantly, “Are you waiting for me?”
Jiang Mosen gave a short hum of affirmation and then asked, “Want to walk together?”
It was already past school hours, so there were very few people left on campus. After the two walked in silence for a while, Jiang Mosen spoke up. “Why didn’t you ask me for help?”
Ji Cenzhou glanced at him. “Do you look like the type of person who meddles in other people’s business?”
Jiang Mosen frowned slightly. “This isn’t meddling.”
Ji Cenzhou looked at Jiang Mosen with some surprise; he had not expected him to have such a strong sense of justice.
“I have my own way of solving it. I don’t need your help.” Ji Cenzhou stretched his arm. He had used too much force earlier, and his muscles felt a bit sore.
Jiang Mosen noticed this as well. He said somewhat helplessly, “This is your way? Have you ever considered that if the person following you had not been Wan Xu alone, but a group of Alphas, how would you have handled it?”
Ji Cenzhou pointed to the back of his neck. “I have pheromone suppressant patches on. I specifically applied two of them. Even if they released their pheromones all at once, I wouldn’t smell a thing.”
“That is not what I meant.” Jiang Mosen was astonished by how thin Ji Cenzhou’s awareness of Alpha/Omega dynamics was; it was as if he were not an Omega at all.
Then again, Ji Cenzhou truly had not been an Omega for very long.
Jiang Mosen continued, “Marking between an Alpha and an Omega isn’t limited to biting the gland. Even if you cannot smell the pheromones, it does not stop an Alpha from committing a crime.”
Ji Cenzhou understood the implication instantly. He had never seen someone discuss such matters so seriously. He could not help but flush a deep red, but seeing Jiang Mosen’s calm expression and lack of embarrassment, Ji Cenzhou snapped irritably, “I get it! You should stop meddling in my business!”
Jiang Mosen looked down at Ji Cenzhou, whose cheeks were dyed pink. He looked embarrassed yet was forcing a calm facade, resembling a kitten baring its claws. Amused by the mental image, Jiang Mosen saw that Ji Cenzhou had realized the gravity of the issue and decided not to press the matter further.
“Are you injured?” Jiang Mosen asked.
“Just some bruising on my waist. It is no big deal,” Ji Cenzhou said nonchalantly.
As soon as he said it, he felt Jiang Mosen’s gaze lingering on his waist. He looked up and glared at Jiang Mosen, saying fiercely, “What, do you want to see it too?”
“Too?” Jiang Mosen’s narrow eyes squinted dangerously. “Are you saying Wan Xu wanted to see it?”
“Whether he wanted to or not is his business. Would I actually let him see it? Although showing a bit of my waist is nothing, no one can force me to do something I am unwilling to do.”
After a few seconds, Jiang Mosen said meaningfully, “So, you are saying that one day you might be willing to lift your shirt and show someone your waist?”
Ji Cenzhou was speechless. The logic did not seem wrong, but why did it feel so weird?
Jiang Mosen did not give him time to dwell on it. He sighed and said, “If I had known things would get this messy, I would have agreed to pretend to be your boyfriend that day.”
Ji Cenzhou choked on his own saliva. “I asked you to be my boyfriend?”
“You don’t remember?” Jiang Mosen’s tone turned slightly cold.
Ji Cenzhou thought about it and realized it had indeed happened. At the time, Jiang Mosen had appeared like a god descending to earth, chasing Wan Xu and his cronies away in a few moves. The original owner of this body had been so terrified he could not even cry. Seeing Jiang Mosen was like seeing a ray of light in the darkness. In a moment of heated impulse, the original owner made the request. After being rejected, the original owner was not too heartbroken; though he liked Jiang Mosen a bit, he felt he was not good enough for him and did not take it to heart.
“Ah, I remember now. I was just acting on impulse. Making you pretend to be my boyfriend would have treated the symptoms but not the cause. I realized that right after,” Ji Cenzhou said dismissively.
Jiang Mosen smiled and said nothing more.
The two reached the school gate together. Ji Cenzhou saw a low-profile but elegant sedan waiting by the road and said to Jiang Mosen, “Go ahead and take your car. I am heading this way.”
After Jiang Mosen got into the car, Uncle Li noticed he was in a good mood and asked, “Was that an Omega walking with you just now?”
“Yes.”
Uncle Li asked again, “Then, did you smell…”
Jiang Mosen smiled, interrupting him. “Uncle Li, you know about my condition. I cannot smell them.”
Uncle Li had worked for the Jiang family for many years. When Jiang Mosen had fallen ill as a child, it was Uncle Li who rushed him to the hospital and saved his life. Therefore, Uncle Li was very familiar with Jiang Mosen’s health.
Uncle Li sighed. “You have never interacted with Omegas since you were a child. Seeing you suddenly walking with one, I thought you… well, I overstepped. My apologies.”
Many years had passed, and Jiang Mosen had long ago learned to live in peace with the series of illnesses caused by his pheromone disorder. While those around him were cautious, he himself had stopped caring. He remarked, “That Omega is quite interesting.”
He had overheard the conversation between Ji Cenzhou and Bai Yu that day. Bai Yu did not know Wan Xu, but Jiang Mosen had rescued Ji Cenzhou from Wan Xu before, so he was well aware of the history between them. From that day on, he had subconsciously looked out for Ji Cenzhou. During PE class this afternoon, while playing basketball, he saw Bai Yu circling the playground repeatedly as if searching for someone, so he went over to ask.
Sure enough, Ji Cenzhou was missing.
He searched everywhere on campus. Passing the teacher’s office, he heard Ji Cenzhou’s voice. After listening to just a few sentences, he knew what was happening. He ran back to the classroom to grab his notebook and, under the guise of “handing in an assignment,” happened to appear in the office and served as Ji Cenzhou’s witness.
Back at home, Ji Cenzhou listened to his mother talk while he ate. He noticed that Mother Ji loved to chat with her son. He did not find her nagging; instead, he found it very natural and warm. After dinner, Ji Cenzhou returned to his room to do homework.
He had a sharp mind, a photographic memory, and strong comprehension skills. He was not sure if it was because of his transmigration or if the original owner was also like this, but studying felt very easy now.
In his previous life, he had been too lazy to study, only flipping through books before finals to maintain above-average grades. He did not have high academic expectations; as long as his father was satisfied, he did not strive for more. But things were different now. He was counting on financial aid for his tuition, and with some effort, he might even get a scholarship.
Last year’s prize money was almost gone, and his daily expenses were becoming an issue. Furthermore, Mother Ji’s illness had a chance of being cured if treated early. He wanted to save enough money for her medical bills.
The original owner had already found a way to make money: 500 yuan a night. The pay was high, but the cost was significant. He did not mind it much himself; a real man knows when to yield and when to stand tall. Even performing a pole dance in drag was fine, as long as no one recognized him. However, given how introverted the original owner was, having him dance on stage would have scared him to death. It seemed the original owner had been driven to a dead end by money.
Ji Cenzhou took the agreement the original owner had signed with the bar owner out of a drawer. His father in his previous life had high expectations for him; he had been taken to the company since he was barely knee-high. Although Ji Cenzhou had resisted with all his might, he had absorbed some knowledge through observation. He had no trouble reading a contract.
This contract was full of holes and held no legal weight, but in this kind of business, legal validity was not the issue. He needed the money, and the bar owner needed someone to make money for him.
The original owner did not know how to pole dance, but he had some background in dance, a flexible body, and good looks. The bar owner had paid for Ji Cenzhou to learn without fear of him running away halfway through. In reality, the bar owner knew exactly what he was doing; the original owner was just a student who could not stir up much trouble. If he suddenly wanted to quit, the owner could just send people to the school to find him, ensuring he would comply.
Since it was the start of the semester, there was not much homework. Ji Cenzhou finished his weekend assignments by 11:00 PM. After washing up, he lay in bed staring at the ceiling. Tomorrow, he had to go with Mother Ji to find her terrible parents. Thinking about the old couple’s previous words and actions made his stomach churn.
It looked like there would be a tough battle to fight tomorrow.
