The Ultra-Alpha School Hunk Has Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Omega! - Chapter 23
The physics teacher was replaced by a young woman whose belly was slightly protruding, clearly showing that she was pregnant. She was very gentle and taught with great attention to detail. Even students like Wang Hao, who were accustomed to being mischievous, refrained from being too rowdy during physics class. Everything seemed to be heading in a positive direction.
During the long break, Xu Lei called Ji Cenzhou into the office. Once there, Xu Lei gestured for him to come closer. He first asked about the class situation and then shifted the topic. “What do you think of the new physics teacher?”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. “She is quite good.”
Although he still found it difficult to follow the lessons, it wasn’t because he had a problem with the teacher or disliked her. He simply couldn’t process the information. He had missed too much of the foundations; opening the textbook felt like looking at a book written in a foreign language. Even with the will to study, he lacked the mental energy to catch up alone.
Xu Lei asked further, “Based on your usual level, what score do you think you can get on the physics midterm?”
Ji Cenzhou thought seriously for a moment. “I will probably fail.”
He looked up and met Xu Lei’s skeptical gaze. Ji Cenzhou had no choice but to explain, “I have fallen too far behind in physics. I cannot catch up from the beginning on my own. When I listen to the lectures now, I do not even know which part the teacher is talking about.”
Xu Lei nodded and said, “You know the physics teacher’s current condition. I originally wanted to ask her to give you extra attention, but since she is pregnant, it is not right to overwork her. Your grades in other subjects are excellent, but physics is dragging you down. I have calculated it—if your physics grades improve, you could get into a top-tier university and a very good major. I do not want you to waste your talent. You must not give up on physics, no matter how difficult it is to start from scratch.”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. He was now the “Ji Cenzhou” of this book, and he had to shoulder all the responsibilities that came with the name. Only by getting into a good university could he find a high-paying job to afford his mother’s medical treatments. These were goals he never had before traveling into this book. In his previous life, he had lived aimlessly, born with a silver spoon in his mouth and starting far ahead of others without trying. He never had to worry about his future because his father could have supported him forever. But things were different now. He was no longer growing up under someone else’s protection; he had to become the umbrella for someone else.
Xu Lei nodded and said, “I asked Jiang Mosen earlier if he would be willing to tutor you. He said he was very willing. Go back and discuss with him how to best handle the tutoring sessions.”
Ji Cenzhou was surprised. “He actually agreed?!”
Wasn’t Jiang Mosen’s character in the book supposed to be cold and calculating? How did he become so warm-hearted? Student Jiang, your character design is falling apart.
After returning to the classroom, Ji Cenzhou leaned against Jiang Mosen’s desk and asked, “Are you truly willing to tutor me?”
When Jiang Mosen looked up, he could see the deep hollows of Ji Cenzhou’s collarbones. His gaze darkened slightly as he grabbed the other boy’s wrist and pulled him into his seat before answering, “Yes.”
Setting aside his other motives, Jiang Mosen was more than willing to tutor Ji Cenzhou just for the chance to smell more of his pheromones.
“Why just ‘yes’? Would it kill you to say a few more words?” Ji Cenzhou rested his face in his hand, looking Jiang Mosen up and down. “You seem to have become quite the Good Samaritan.”
Jiang Mosen took a deep breath of the rose-scented pheromones and smiled. “Since when did I become so warm-hearted?”
Ji Cenzhou clicked his tongue, clearly unconvinced.
“After school tonight, are you coming?” Jiang Mosen asked.
“I am coming, I am coming! It is a deal!” Fearing Jiang Mosen might change his mind, Ji Cenzhou spoke quickly. It would be foolish to turn down free tutoring.
At the end of the hallway on their floor, there was a small lecture theater. When Jiang Mosen brought Ji Cenzhou there, Ji Cenzhou remarked with a bit of awe, “You are impressive. You even have the keys to this place.”
“I am the head of the Discipline Inspection Department. We sometimes hold meetings here, so the teacher gave me the keys,” Jiang Mosen explained.
“So you are the Great Minister of Discipline. My apologies for the lack of respect,” Ji Cenzhou joked, mockingly cupping his hands in a traditional greeting.
Jiang Mosen laughed. “Enough of that. Get inside.”
Once inside, Ji Cenzhou chose a seat by the window and beckoned Jiang Mosen over. Jiang Mosen had just closed the door and looked up to see Ji Cenzhou sitting by the window in a white shirt. The sunlight spilled over his profile, lining him in gold. A light breeze caused the white curtains to sway, partially obscuring Ji Cenzhou’s smiling face. His pale, translucent wrist as he waved was like a precious treasure, making Jiang Mosen want to hold it carefully.
A faint scent of roses drifted through the air. Jiang Mosen lowered his head and cleared his throat to hide his distraction. He walked over, sat next to Ji Cenzhou, and said, “Let us begin.”
Ji Cenzhou pulled his physics books from tenth and eleventh grade out of his bag. “I brought all the books. Where should we start?”
Jiang Mosen took the first volume. “We will start with this one.”
Jiang Mosen began explaining from the very first lesson, but the more Ji Cenzhou listened, the more confused he became. His brow furrowed tighter until he finally leaned in and asked, “Where did this formula come from? And how did you know to use this conversion? It is clearly not in the book.”
Jiang Mosen looked down at the fluffy head right beneath his eyes. If he lowered his head further, he would touch the tip of Ji Cenzhou’s ear. He subtly leaned back before saying, “This is middle school knowledge.”
Ji Cenzhou smiled awkwardly. “Was that taught? Why don’t I remember it?”
Jiang Mosen took the opportunity to explain those basics. After asking a few questions, Ji Cenzhou nodded in realization. “I understand now. Please continue.”
But when Jiang Mosen reached the next point, Ji Cenzhou was lost again. He frowned and said, “Slow down a bit.”
Hearing this, Jiang Mosen slowed his speaking pace to a crawl. Yet, Ji Cenzhou found it increasingly difficult to follow. His head began to ache from thinking, and he still couldn’t grasp it. He lost his temper. “I told you to slow down! You are going too fast; I cannot understand!!”
Jiang Mosen sighed helplessly. “I am already being very slow. I stop to wait for you after every sentence I speak.”
Ji Cenzhou felt inexplicably wronged, his voice taking on a slight tremble. “But I just don’t understand. Can’t you be a little more considerate?”
This unusual display of petulance struck a chord in Jiang Mosen’s heart. He couldn’t help but ruffle Ji Cenzhou’s soft hair. Softening his tone, he asked, “Tell me the truth—did you fail to learn middle school physics properly?”
Ji Cenzhou’s face flushed red instantly. He said with embarrassment, “My foundation in middle school physics is indeed not very good, but I did learn it. I am much better than those middle schoolers, really. I just forgot some of it.”
Jiang Mosen coaxed him, “Alright, alright. I know. you are very capable. You only can’t learn it now because it has been too long and you forgot. You actually learned it very well back then.”
The way Jiang Mosen was coddling him like a child made Ji Cenzhou’s face even redder. But since Jiang Mosen was agreeing with him, he had no reason to get angry, so he just sat there with a burning face.
“Fine, stop talking and just keep teaching,” Ji Cenzhou urged with his head down.
Taking advantage of the fact that Ji Cenzhou couldn’t see him, Jiang Mosen let a smirk tug at his lips before continuing. This time, he started from the most basic concepts in the book, and Ji Cenzhou began to absorb the information much faster.
An hour passed in a flash. Ji Cenzhou felt refreshed, and his attitude toward Jiang Mosen improved significantly. As he packed his bag, he said, “When you are free another day, I will treat you to a meal.”
Jiang Mosen looked at him. “Can I eat anything I want? Will you agree to whatever I choose?”
Ji Cenzhou thought about it. “As long as it isn’t too expensive. I cannot afford anything too pricey.”
Jiang Mosen looked at the innocent Ji Cenzhou, who was like a blank sheet of paper, and thought to himself that his cousin was right—he really was “black-hearted.” He already wanted to “devour” the boy. He teased, “It is not expensive, as long as you are willing.”
“Why wouldn’t I be willing? I already promised you,” Ji Cenzhou said, thinking Jiang Mosen was just worried he would back out. “Don’t worry. As long as it is not expensive, I will go along with whatever you want to eat.”
Jiang Mosen’s gaze swept over Ji Cenzhou’s collarbones before he looked away, saying cryptically, “Fine, I will remember that.”
A few days after the monthly exams, the entirety of Class Ten became restless. Li Tianrui, the sports representative, stood on the podium urging everyone to sign up for athletic events.
The easier events were filled instantly, but the remaining ones became a major headache. Li Tianrui was worried to the point of balding. He asked again, “The men’s 3000-meter, the women’s shot put, and the men’s high jump… is really no one signing up?”
No one in the audience paid him any mind. Left with no choice, Li Tianrui turned to Jiang Mosen for help.
Jiang Mosen looked at the list. “Put my name down for the men’s 3000-meter. I cannot help with the rest.”
Li Tianrui quickly wrote down Jiang Mosen’s name, satisfied to have solved at least one. Then he turned his gaze toward Ji Cenzhou. “Brother Ji, save me. How about the men’s high jump?”
Ji Cenzhou glanced at it. “I am no good at the high jump. I don’t even know how to do it.”
Li Tianrui said quickly, “It is fine! Just go up there and jump. Any result is fine. We just need to fill the slot, otherwise our class won’t even meet the minimum number of participants.”
Ji Cenzhou thought about it and reluctantly agreed. Li Tianrui left, bowing in gratitude. Finally, Yang Shu signed up for the women’s shot put, and they managed to reach the required number of participants.
The last period of the afternoon was a class meeting. Seeing that everyone was focused on the sports meet, Xu Lei simply gave the time to the students, watching happily from the side with his large tea mug.
There was a formation march before the sports meet. There were no strict requirements on the format, as long as it showcased the class’s unique character. To the students, this meant: do whatever you want, as long as it is “badass” enough to make them the brightest stars on the field and glue everyone’s eyes onto them.
The Academic Representative suggested, “Let us carry our ‘Five-Year College Entrance Exam, Three-Year Simulation’ books and wave them in the air so they can see our academic spirit and be left speechless.”
Everyone considered it. It might be intimidating, but it looked a bit stupid. Thus, the suggestion was shot down immediately.
Yang Shu asked, “How about cross-dressing?”
The moment she spoke, Wang Hao and Li Tianrui expressed strong opposition. They had suffered through this in tenth grade and did not want a repeat performance. “That is so unoriginal. If you ask around, out of the forty classes in this grade, thirty of them will have ‘cross-dressing legends.’ Why should we join that crowd?”
Yang Shu blinked. “We are not looking for originality; we are looking to catch eyes.”
Wang Hao and Li Tianrui were speechless. Fine, you have a point.
It seemed that this year, one of the boys had to bear the “unbearable pain” of cross-dressing. Yang Shu and several other girls began discussing it excitedly. “This time, our class must win based on styling.”
“I suggest a white princess dress with cat ears and soft cat-paw gloves. I saw someone wear it online; it is incredibly cute.”
“Will a boy look good in that? Won’t it be… disgusting?”
“It is a prank anyway. How about a ‘death-pink’ Barbie dress? The effect would be explosive.”
“Yes, yes! For makeup, how about a heavy Western style? Long false eyelashes and pinkish-purple lipstick to match the dress. Oh my god, I can already see it.”
Wang Hao and Li Tianrui listened in terror and rushed to Jiang Mosen for help. Jiang Mosen listened and said, “They are so happy, let them be.”
Wang Hao and Li Tianrui wailed, asking why. Jiang Mosen smiled. “They would never dare to try those ideas on me, so why should I interfere?”
Li Tianrui felt like dying. By tradition, if no boy was willing, he, as the sports representative, would have to lead by example and take on the burden. But he didn’t want to! He still wanted to have a sweet high school romance. If a girl saw him in that outfit, wouldn’t he be destined to be single for three years?
He decided to strike first. He tried to drag all the boys down with him, telling every boy that the girls wanted them to cross-dress, making the whole class panicky. He thought he was brilliant, but the girls were smarter. They directly designated the sports representative for the task, knowing it was unrealistic to force others. The boys also quickly realized they had been tricked by Li Tianrui and, instead of helping him, joined in the cheering.
With the unanimous consent of the entire class, Li Tianrui was chosen for the cross-dressing role. He accepted his fate, only begging Yang Shu and the others to be merciful and avoid black silk stockings, death-pink colors, or stinging false eyelashes.
As the sports meet approached, physical education time was given to the students for free activities. Li Tianrui organized the athletes to begin training. Since the school lacked high jump facilities, Ji Cenzhou decided he would just wing it on the day of the event. Instead, he spent his time teaching Bai Yu how to play basketball.
Bai Yu had zero foundation. Ji Cenzhou spent a long time explaining the rules and then taught a few basic moves for Bai Yu to practice on the side. Ji Cenzhou stood at the three-point line, stretched his limbs, and tried a shot.
Swish.
Ji Cenzhou was in a great mood. This body coordinated well with him, allowing him to pick up his favorite sport again. He tried a slam dunk, and surprisingly, the body had incredible jumping power. Combined with his existing technique, dunking was easy. This made Ji Cenzhou feel incredibly confident. To be honest, he felt like he could play for the national team.
The training groups on the other side of the field were about to take a break. Wang Hao turned and saw the handsome slam dunk on the basketball court. He couldn’t help but roar, “Good shot!”
His shout drew everyone’s attention. They were too far to see who was playing, but they could see the beautiful movements. Instantly, cheers broke out. “Let’s go see who that expert is!” Wang Hao called out, leading the group toward the court.
Jiang Mosen followed. Before he even reached the court, the breeze carried a hint of the familiar rose pheromones. He smirked and said, “It is Ji Cenzhou.”
“Huh? Brother Ji?” Wang Hao squinted, but could only see a silhouette. “Brother Jiang, how do you know it is Ji Cenzhou?”
Jiang Mosen smiled and didn’t answer. As they got closer, it was indeed Ji Cenzhou. He just landed a three-pointer, the ball going perfectly through the hoop.
“Great!” Wang Hao and the others cheered.
Ji Cenzhou looked over. “Are you finished training?”
“No, just taking a break,” Wang Hao said. “Brother Ji, you are insanely strong. That slam dunk was so cool.”
Li Tianrui added excitedly, “There is a basketball tournament after the sports meet. Brother Ji, are you interested in joining?”
Ji Cenzhou had a basketball addiction and agreed immediately. Having practiced alone for a while, his hands were itching for a real game. “Who wants to play with me?”
Wang Hao and Li Tianrui wanted to play, but thinking of their amateur skills and the many girls watching by the court, they didn’t want to embarrass themselves. They waved their hands in refusal.
Ji Cenzhou raised an eyebrow. “No one?”
“I will.” A lazy voice, sounding a bit sun-drenched, came from the back of the crowd. Jiang Mosen walked up to Ji Cenzhou. “I will play with you.”
Ji Cenzhou remembered the book describing Jiang Mosen as a great basketball player. He wanted to see just how good he was. “Fine. You block me this time; I will be on the offense.”
The two stood ready on the court. Ji Cenzhou dribbled the ball, looking for a weakness in Jiang Mosen’s defense. Jiang Mosen was taller and stronger; Ji Cenzhou’s only advantage was his agility.
Both moved quickly. Because Ji Cenzhou was shorter and dribbling low, Jiang Mosen could see his slender, elegant nape. Beneath that thin skin was Ji Cenzhou’s gland. He couldn’t help but recall the wonderful feeling of his teeth piercing that gland, and how the boy in his arms trembled helplessly while gripping his collar. For a moment, he seemed to smell a rich, intense rose scent rather than the faint scent masked by suppressants.
Jiang Mosen’s distraction lasted only a split second, but Ji Cenzhou seized the chance to break through the defense and score. When the ball hit the ground, the onlookers were stunned. That was Jiang Mosen! The same Jiang Mosen who had crushed the sports-specialist students in tenth grade! Was he just bypassed that easily?
The girls who had come to watch Jiang Mosen shifted their gaze to Ji Cenzhou, then looked away. Ji Cenzhou was even more delicate and handsome than they were; he wasn’t exactly their idea of a boyfriend candidate.
Ji Cenzhou, however, was dissatisfied. He turned to Jiang Mosen. “Were you distracted? Do you think I am not worthy of a real game with you?”
Jiang Mosen’s voice was deep. “My apologies. The sun made me a bit dazed. It won’t happen again.”
In truth, Jiang Mosen was wondering to himself: Do Alphas have heat cycles too? Is my recent abnormal behavior because I am in heat?
Ji Cenzhou huffed, barely accepting the apology. He threw the ball to Jiang Mosen. “Your turn.”
Jiang Mosen nodded, cleared his head of intrusive thoughts, and broke through Ji Cenzhou’s defense to score a slam dunk. Ji Cenzhou patted Jiang Mosen’s arm. “Impressive, Brother Jiang. You are so strong.” He truly liked people who were good at basketball, especially those better than him.
Jiang Mosen looked down and saw his own reflection in Ji Cenzhou’s eyes. He couldn’t help but smile. He was now absolutely certain that Ji Cenzhou had lowered his guard against him. He laughed and said, “Let us play basketball together in the future.”
The sports meet was scheduled for the following Thursday and Friday. Before school ended, Li Tianrui stood on the podium, pleading earnestly, “Athletes, don’t just think about eating and sleeping when you go home! Remember to exercise! The sports meet depends on you, and our hopes for the ‘Best Class’ title rest on your shoulders! If any of you want to go for a morning run, find me; I will join you.”
No one listened. It was finally the weekend; if they didn’t sleep until noon, it was a miracle. A morning run was out of the question.
Jiang Mosen had family business to attend to and had to leave early. He told Ji Cenzhou, “I won’t be able to tutor you today. Go back and review what we have covered, and find some problems to solve. I will check them when I return.”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. “Don’t worry. You have things to do, so go ahead. I will be fine on my own.” Only then did Jiang Mosen leave.
Bai Yu, who had been holding it in for a long time, finally asked, “Does the monitor tutor you privately every day?”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. “He is helping me with physics.”
“Has he done anything… strange?” Since Ji Cenzhou was as innocent as a blank sheet of paper, Bai Yu was afraid he would be taken advantage of.
“Strange?” Ji Cenzhou thought about it. “No. He explains the problems well and is very patient. Nothing strange at all.”
Seeing Ji Cenzhou’s naive expression, Bai Yu wanted to shout at him: Boys need to protect themselves when they are out!
Ji Cenzhou turned to him, puzzled. “Why are you looking at me with that expression?”
“…” Bai Yu sighed. “Nothing.”
After going home, Ji Cenzhou finished his homework before starting on the physics problems. As he worked, he hit a snag. His first instinct was to wait and ask Jiang Mosen how to solve it when they met at the bar. The moment that thought formed, it startled him.
He absolutely could not do that! If he did, Jiang Mosen would know he was working part-time at a bar. If that got out, what would happen to his reputation as “Brother Ji”? He recited a reminder to himself three times to keep his “secret identity” safe and not let it slip.
On Sunday night, Ji Cenzhou arrived at the bar. A familiar staff member came over to gossip. “Who is that handsome young man who is always waiting for you outside?”
The words “my classmate” were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them just in time. He pretended they weren’t close. “I don’t know. I don’t recognize him.”
The woman gave him a knowing look. “If you don’t know him, why does he only show up when you are performing? And he orders drinks in your name but doesn’t drink them—there are still three bottles of his wine in the cabinet.”
Ji Cenzhou frowned and thought for a moment. “Maybe he wants to save a ‘wayward youth’ like me?”
The woman rolled her eyes. “Then why doesn’t he save a ‘wayward girl’ like me?”
Ji Cenzhou couldn’t help but retort, “Because your dancing isn’t as good as mine.”
The woman was so annoyed she almost hit him. Ji Cenzhou apologized with a smile until she calmed down. She then asked, “Since you have no relationship with him, can I go and flirt with him?”
Ji Cenzhou didn’t hesitate for a second. He said very seriously, “No.”
Startled by his expression, she asked, “Why?”
“He will only break your heart,” Ji Cenzhou said earnestly. “He has his own ‘destined one.’ It is impossible for him to be with you. If you fall for him and he cannot respond, you will definitely be hurt. So, you must not like him.”
The woman wanted to complain—What era is this? Who still talks about ‘destined ones’?—but seeing Ji Cenzhou’s certainty and genuine concern, she asked, “If he has a destined one, aren’t you sad?”
Ji Cenzhou frowned. “Why would I be sad? It is impossible for me to fall for his destined one; we won’t be rivals in love.”
The woman: “…” She gave him an exasperated look. “Your way of thinking is truly bizarre.”
Only then did Ji Cenzhou realize what she actually meant. He waved it off casually. “How could I possibly like him?”
After finishing his dance, Ji Cenzhou habitually sat next to Jiang Mosen. After greeting him, he asked bluntly, “I heard that you only come when I am here. Why do you do that?”
Jiang Mosen was taken aback, then asked with a smile, “Are you always this direct?”
Ji Cenzhou thought about it. “I do not like beating around the bush. If there is something on my mind, I usually just ask it directly.”
Jiang Mosen laughed. “Because this is the only time I am free. You know I am a student; I have to study at other times.”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. He had thought the same before, but the staff member’s words had made him feel a bit uncomfortable, so he asked since Jiang Mosen was there. His gaze moved from Jiang Mosen’s face to the glass in his hand. “If you like it, should I order you a drink?”
“No.” Ji Cenzhou paused. “Peppermint liqueur?”
Jiang Mosen nodded. Ji Cenzhou remembered that during the temporary marking, he had smelled a bit of peppermint. That must be Jiang Mosen’s pheromone. This guy was really narcissistic, liking a drink that smelled just like his own pheromones.
Ji Cenzhou didn’t want to drink, and Jiang Mosen didn’t force him. He only said, “Should I order you a bottle of Wahaha milk?”
Ji Cenzhou: “…” He kicked him playfully. “Are you looking for trouble?!”
Jiang Mosen dodged and handed over his coat and scarf. “Put the scarf over your legs and the coat over your shoulders.”
Ji Cenzhou took them with a bit of a sigh but did as he was told. He was used to it; Jiang Mosen made him do this every time he came. If he refused, Jiang Mosen would nag him like a monk. Having no choice, Ji Cenzhou always gave in. Once it happened the first time, it happened every time. He had already given up resisting.
Just as Jiang Mosen saw that he was properly covered and was about to speak, his phone rang. “Sorry, I have to take this call.”
Ji Cenzhou nodded. “Go ahead.”
As Jiang Mosen went to a quiet place to talk, Ji Cenzhou sat in his seat and yawned. He was about to ask the bartender for the time when a fat man walked over. He slammed a stack of cash onto the table and tried to put an arm around Ji Cenzhou’s shoulder, but Ji Cenzhou swiped his hand away.
Ji Cenzhou looked at the money and said crossly, “Are you sick?”
The fat man narrowed his eyes. “Not enough?” He pulled out another stack of cash and let his eyes roam over Ji Cenzhou. “Is this enough now?”
Ji Cenzhou took a deep breath, reminding himself that he needed this job to suppress his anger. “What exactly do you want?”
The fat man flashed a row of yellow teeth. “I want to buy one night with you.”
To Ji Cenzhou, this man was just a piece of lard—small-brained but incredibly bold, and seemingly eager to find a way to die. Don’t lower yourself to a pig’s level, he told himself, gritting his teeth. “Are you looking to die?”
The fat man wasn’t angry; he just looked at Ji Cenzhou lecherously. “Quite an appetite you have. Fine, if you serve me well, I will add another stack.”
“Serve you well?” Ji Cenzhou raised an eyebrow, laughing from pure rage. “How would you like to be served?”
“You haven’t learned this yet? You seem quite pure. No matter—if you are obedient, I will teach you well.” As he spoke, the fat man sat down next to Ji Cenzhou.
Suppressing his nausea, Ji Cenzhou looked up at the security camera directly above them. He remembered there was another one at the same position behind them. He needed this job and couldn’t lose it over this pig. Ji Cenzhou took a deep breath. The angrier he was, the calmer he became. He intentionally smirked, his eyes turning up at the corners as he softened his voice. “Really?”
The man was so captivated by the smile that he lost his wits and put his arm around Ji Cenzhou’s shoulder. Ji Cenzhou’s stomach turned, and he tensed every muscle to keep from throwing a punch immediately. Thinking Ji Cenzhou was just nervous because his head was down, the man leaned in close to his ear. “Come on, release some pheromones. Let me smell what flavor you are.” He even pressed down on Ji Cenzhou’s gland twice.
Ji Cenzhou’s mind clicked. Fine, now I have the evidence. I can move.
He slapped the greasy hand away. “You actually want to know the scent of my pheromones? Go find out in the hospital!” He stood up and kicked the fat man’s backside, sending him face-first onto the floor, leaving a trail of blood from his nose. The man clutched his nose and wailed, unable to move.
Ji Cenzhou grabbed a stool in one hand and stepped on the man’s backside with the other, raising an eyebrow. “Are you looking to die? If you want to die, just say so! I will do a good deed today and send you on your way!”
Jiang Mosen had just re-entered the bar when he saw the fat man touching the gland on the back of Ji Cenzhou’s neck. A destructive urge instantly surged within him. He wanted to rush over, beat the man senseless, pull Ji Cenzhou into his arms, and hide him away where no one could touch or even look at him.
By the time he pushed through the crowd, Ji Cenzhou was already pinning the man to the ground and pummeling him. Jiang Mosen walked over, pulled Ji Cenzhou behind him for protection, and wrapped his coat around him again.
Ji Cenzhou was in the middle of his adrenaline rush and was very dissatisfied. He struggled, frowning. “What are you doing? I am not finished yet! This pig tried to take advantage of me; I must teach him a lesson so he never dares to do it again!”
He struggled a few more times but found he couldn’t escape Jiang Mosen’s hold. He lost his temper. “Let go of me! Do you hear me? I said let go!!”
He looked up and was met with Jiang Mosen’s bloodshot eyes, which were swirling with murderous intent. He froze and asked, “What is wrong with you?”
Jiang Mosen didn’t answer. He just wrapped the coat tighter around Ji Cenzhou and held him in his arms.
“Let go!” seeing Jiang Mosen ignoring him, Ji Cenzhou grew even more annoyed. “Jiang Mosen, I am warning you one last time. Let go, or I will hit you too!”
Jiang Mosen brought him to the bar counter, sat him down, and finally said, “Sit here. I will handle this for you.”
Ji Cenzhou naturally wasn’t willing. But just as he was about to stand up, he smelled a faint, almost negligible scent of peppermint. His body instantly went weak. Even though it was just a trace, he was absolutely certain it was the scent of Jiang Mosen’s pheromones. As an Omega who had been marked by Jiang Mosen, it was nearly impossible for him to disobey him.
Jiang Mosen walked over to where the man was still wailing on the ground. He knelt down, grabbed the man’s hair, and yanked his head off the floor. “You dare touch my Omega? Are you looking to die?!”
Because they were close enough, the man also smelled a bit of Jiang Mosen’s pheromones and began to tremble instinctively. Alphas still retained the instincts of wolves; despite living in a civilized society, they still used pheromone levels to determine status. Even though Jiang Mosen only released a tiny amount, the intimidation was enough. The man felt as if he would be torn apart by the enraged Jiang Mosen.
“I am sorry… I won’t do it again. I will never do it again,” the man pleaded.
Jiang Mosen seemed to smile. “There are many ways to torture someone. I just happen to choose the one that isn’t the most merciful.” After speaking, he stood up and gave the man two heavy kicks. Each blow was severe, making the man wail in pain, yet he didn’t dare to struggle.
Jiang Mosen stepped on the man, his bloodthirsty gaze scanning the surroundings.
In his anger, Ji Cenzhou hadn’t noticed the greedy looks the surrounding Alphas were giving him, but Jiang Mosen had. Ji Cenzhou’s appearance was exceptional even among Omegas. Standing there having just knocked down an Alpha, he looked vibrant and wild like a rebellious deer in the forest with innocent eyes. Only a unique and challenging Omega could satisfy an Alpha’s dark nature, and to them, Ji Cenzhou was a prize worth conquering. Ji Cenzhou had no idea how alluring he was to Alphas, nor did he sense the danger, which was why Jiang Mosen had forcibly pulled him away and covered him up.
With a few exchanged glances, the other Alphas knew this Omega was “claimed.” Some gave up, while others became even more determined. Jiang Mosen didn’t care. In the future, if anyone dared to look at Ji Cenzhou again, he would blind them. If anyone dared to touch him, he would break their arms. Ji Cenzhou was his, and only his!
“Jiang Mosen!”
“What is wrong with you?”
Ji Cenzhou had walked up behind him at some unknown moment.
Jiang Mosen suddenly regained his composure. He realized that this was the nature of an Alpha. This was the possessiveness embedded in an Alpha’s very bones. Because of his pheromone disorder, he had always believed he was a Beta. He had been unable to understand the feelings an Alpha held for an Omega or that deep-seated possessiveness, but now he felt it all because of Ji Cenzhou.
Ji Cenzhou saw that his eyes were bloodshot and asked with concern, “Are you okay?”
Ji Cenzhou noticed that the pheromones were leaking out, but he did not say that part out loud. He remembered the original book mentioning that Jiang Mosen only released pheromones when his condition flared up or when his emotions fluctuated violently. Neither situation was a good sign.
Jiang Mosen froze for a moment. The destructive urge in his heart dissipated rapidly. He curled his lips into a slight smile and asked, “Are you worried about me?”
Ji Cenzhou frowned and nodded.
Jiang Mosen reached out to tuck Ji Cenzhou’s clothes more tightly around him. The violent aura surrounding his body vanished. He said, “Do not worry. I am fine.”
In that instant, Jiang Mosen understood the beauty of an Omega.
An Alpha was like a cold and bloodthirsty wolf. Their innate dominance and madness allowed them to rule the entire grasslands, yet a soft existence like an Omega could easily calm an Alpha in a state of rage.
