The Ultra-Alpha School Hunk Has Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Omega! - Chapter 22.4
Before the Dean could speak, Liu Qi intercepted. “Grades are not the only limit! Financial aid is for students with all-around development in morals and ethics. Someone like you, who is devious and a bully, does not deserve it!”
Ji Cenzhou frowned. “When did I bully a classmate?”
“Stop playing dumb! After the ceremony this week, you forced Gu Lin from my class to stand on that platform and say things that insulted his dignity! Oh Dean, those words were so foul I cannot even repeat them. Since that day, Gu Lin has been distracted, his grades are slipping, he has become withdrawn, and now he is hospitalized. When his parents asked about him, I felt so guilty. Every child is the apple of their parents’ eye! They come to school to learn, not to be bullied! As his teacher, I failed to protect him.”
The Dean looked stern. “Ji Cenzhou, is this true?”
Ji Cenzhou thought for a moment. “Gu Lin did shout some things at me on Monday.”
Liu Qi’s expression turned smug, but as he moved to speak, Ji Cenzhou said lightly, “Teacher Liu, why do you never let anyone else speak? You keep interrupting, and I cannot even finish a full sentence.”
This hit a nerve with the Grade Dean. Liu Qi was notorious for interrupting others. Recently, he had even started talking over the Dean during staff meetings, making the Dean lose face. Finally having an outlet, the Dean snapped, “Teacher Liu, show some respect. Constantly interrupting is not only rude but shows a lack of character!”
Liu Qi was left speechless. Since the speaker was his boss, he had to swallow his anger and force a smile. “Yes, I will reflect on that. Ji Cenzhou, go on. I will not interrupt.”
Ji Cenzhou continued, “What Gu Lin said was not forced by me. It was a bet. We wagered on who would get a better grade on the monthly exam. I was ranked in the 800s, and Gu Lin was in the top 100. He probably thought he was a guaranteed winner, which is why he made the bet. Who knew I would perform so well and surpass him?”
He left it at that, but the implication was clear: Gu Lin tried to humiliate Ji Cenzhou because of his poor grades but ended up suffering the consequences of his own actions.
The Dean nodded. “If both parties entered the bet voluntarily, it is just a matter of the loser accepting the penalty. That is not bullying.”
Liu Qi felt as if he were being strangled. He stammered, “I see, but still, there should be a limit. Gu Lin is such a good student that I just feel bad for him.”
Ji Cenzhou replied flatly, “By your logic, are my grades not better than Gu Lin’s now? Why do you not feel bad for me? Instead, you claim I am not qualified for aid.”
Liu Qi looked at him with disdain. “Ji Cenzhou, have some self-awareness. You talk back to teachers and make inappropriate bets. How can a student like you be called a good student?”
“That is not what you used to say, Teacher Liu,” Ji Cenzhou countered. “In front of all of Class 10, you said a student’s value lies solely in their grades. You said if someone studies well, their character is naturally good. My grades are better than Gu Lin’s now, so am I not a good student, or are you just a hypocrite with double standards?”
The Dean’s brow furrowed. “Teacher Liu! You actually said such things? As teachers, our priority is to instill correct values. How can character be equated solely with grades?”
Liu Qi realized Ji Cenzhou was much more articulate than he expected. He had been led right into a trap, and the Dean was now firmly on Ji Cenzhou’s side. He tried to deny it. “Dean, I never said that! I am just not very popular in Class 10. I admit I am a bit harsh, but it is only because their grades were poor. I was just anxious.”
The Dean cut him off. “Enough. I have been your colleague for years and I know exactly what you are capable of saying. Do you think I will not verify this with the students? You cannot argue against a whole class of witnesses.”
This was the first time the Dean had confronted him so directly. Liu Qi always considered himself a veteran with status. He had nearly been Dean himself once, and though the current Dean was his superior, Liu Qi felt he lacked experience. Over time, Liu Qi had become arrogant, frequently defying the Dean and badmouthing him behind his back. He did not realize that younger teachers he had bullied had already reported his behavior to the Dean, who was simply waiting for the right moment to act.
Seeing his opening, Ji Cenzhou spoke up. “Sir, on behalf of all the students in Class 10, I am requesting a new physics teacher!”
Liu Qi, already overwhelmed, lost his mind when Ji Cenzhou added fuel to the fire. “Ji Cenzhou, give you an inch and you take a mile! You think you are someone important enough to replace me? Fine, I said if you got into the top 100, I would stop teaching you—even stop being a teacher. But that was a joke! If I had not motivated you with my unique methods, would you have these grades? You ungrateful little brat!”
Just then, a knock sounded at the door. “Come in,” said the Dean.
Wang Hao and several others entered. Liu Qi barked, “Why are you not in class?”
Jiang Mosen looked at Liu Qi. “Teacher Liu, you forgot again. This is your class period. Since the exams ended, you have not taught us a single lesson. You just leave us to do papers.”
The Dean’s face darkened. “Teacher Liu, is this true?”
Liu Qi stammered, unable to find words. One look at him told the Dean everything. Liu Qi had gone too far. As a top provincial high school, they could not allow such behavior to tarnish their reputation.
Wang Hao stepped forward and placed a sheet of paper on the Dean’s desk. “Sir, we are requesting a change of physics teacher. Every student in our class has signed their name.”
Liu Qi turned pale. He never expected the class to unite like this.
“Sir, we are not doing this without reason,” Jiang Mosen added flawlessly. “First, Teacher Liu teaches other classes normally but neglects ours, which is discrimination. Second, our class’s physics average was 15 points lower than the grade average, affecting everyone’s total score. Third, Teacher Liu has repeatedly launched personal attacks against us.”
Liu Qi abandoned his dignity and started cursing. “Bullshit! Do not you—”
“Teacher Liu! Watch your language!” the Dean roared.
Liu Qi was forced into a stifled silence. Wang Hao struck while the iron was hot. “Teacher Liu called me stupid and said my bad brain was inherited from my parents.”
Yang Shu added, “I have a scar on my head. When I tried to hide it with bangs, Teacher Liu mocked me, saying I was obsessed with beauty because I wanted to get married. He called me ugly and said dressing up was a waste of time.”
Another boy spoke up. “Teacher Liu mocked me for being from the countryside. If my classmates had not encouraged me, I sometimes felt I did not want to live this painful life anymore.”
The Dean’s expression changed completely. A recent tragedy at another school involving a student had made student mental health a top priority. He would not let Liu Qi become a liability.
Liu Qi realized the danger. His face went white. “Dean, I did not know kids these days were so fragile. I just said it in passing. I will watch my words from now on.”
The Dean thought, Watch your words? I know exactly who you are. He knew that once the heat died down, Liu Qi would revert to his old ways. “Go back to class,” the Dean told the students. “I will find your class a new physics teacher.”
“Dean!” Liu Qi cried in disbelief.
“What else do you want?” the Dean snapped. “Do you not know how critical things are right now? The new board member cares deeply about mental health. For a veteran teacher, you have no professional ethics. I cannot handle this myself anymore. I am reporting this to the school leadership. Wait for your disciplinary action!”
When Wang Hao left the office, he was still in a daze. “Did we really do it? Are we really getting a new teacher?”
Ji Cenzhou laughed at his stunned look. “Yes, the Dean said so.”
Wang Hao wanted to cheer, but Ji Cenzhou covered his mouth. “Quiet, class is still in session.”
Wang Hao shut up but beat his chest in excitement. Ji Cenzhou teased, “You look like a great ape.”
Yang Shu could not help but giggle. “That felt so good.”
Jiang Mosen overheard and mused, “It is going to get even better.”
Ji Cenzhou turned back. “Why do you say that?”
Jiang Mosen shook his head. “You will understand soon.”
Wang Hao, having many connections, was the first to hear the news that Liu Qi had resigned.
“Why would that guy resign?” Wang Hao wondered. “I would believe it if he was fired, but resigning?”
Ji Cenzhou was also surprised. He figured Liu Qi would just be suspended for a while. Who knew he would exit the stage so quickly?
Jiang Mosen put down his pen and smiled. “It is not hard to understand. The school is focusing on mental health, and Liu Qi walked right into the line of fire. Plus, the Grade Dean clearly disliked him and likely pushed from behind. And with the new board member, if he takes this seriously, ten Liu Qis would be gone.”
Wang Hao nodded half-heartedly and quickly forgot the brain-teasing question, rushing off to spread the news.
Ji Cenzhou stayed behind. Seeing Jiang Mosen go back to his problems, he poked his arm. “You have more to say, do you not?”
Jiang Mosen looked down at Ji Cenzhou’s finger and smiled. Lately, Ji Cenzhou had been acting quite cute without realizing it. “Why do you ask?”
“You look like you are holding something back,” Ji Cenzhou said. “Spill it.”
Jiang Mosen teased, “Lean in closer and I will tell you.”
He expected Ji Cenzhou to roll his eyes and walk away, but Ji Cenzhou actually leaned in, ready for a secret.
“You really…” Jiang Mosen trailed off, unsure if Ji Cenzhou just viewed himself as an Omega or simply did not see Jiang Mosen as a predatory Alpha.
Ji Cenzhou, oblivious, urged him, “Hurry up, I cannot wait.”
Jiang Mosen gave in and whispered in his ear, “Guess what the new board member’s last name is?”
Ji Cenzhou frowned. What did that have to do with Liu Qi? He looked up to tell Jiang Mosen to stop being cryptic and met his eyes.
“Is it Jiang?”
Jiang Mosen smiled. “My young uncle.”
Ji Cenzhou was stunned.
It took a few seconds for him to find his voice. He joked, “Brother Jiang, do you think you could arrange a scholarship for me during the midterms?”
Jiang Mosen smiled but said nothing. Catching a faint scent of rose in the air, he thought to himself, Forget a scholarship; I have already got your betrothal gifts ready.
