The Ultra-Alpha School Hunk Has Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Omega! - Chapter 11
Monday.
Before Ji Cenzhou even entered the classroom, he could hear Bai Yu shouting inside. As soon as he showed his face, Bai Yu dragged him over to their seats.
“What is going on?” Ji Cenzhou asked. Before he could even finish his sentence, a crowd of curious onlookers swarmed around them.
Ji Cenzhou thought to himself, “Am I some kind of circus monkey?”
“That damn Wan Xu actually dared to bully you! It is my fault for not asking more questions that day. If I had known you were going to thrash him, I would have gone with you!” Bai Yu exclaimed.
“Ji Cenzhou, did you really beat up Wan Xu? Word is that he was crying and begging you for mercy,” another student chimed in.
“Right, right! I also heard that you made Wan Xu hug your leg and call you ‘Daddy.’ Did he actually do it?”
“Um, Student Ji, are you actually Wan Xu’s half-brother? Is it true that your mother was the one officially married into the Wan family?”
Ji Cenzhou was speechless. “What kind of chaotic nonsense is this?”
He felt as though the sheer weight of the question marks in his head was going to tilt his neck. He frowned and asked, “Who did you hear all this from?”
Everyone answered at once, “It is all over the school forum! Wan Xu’s lackeys even admitted that when they arrived, Wan Xu was crying.”
Ji Cenzhou knew that part was true, but the boy had only been crying because a schoolbag had smashed into the bridge of his nose. He spent a few moments clearing things up, simply stating that he and Wan Xu had a minor history of friction. He chose not to mention that Wan Xu had been harassing him.
Even without the full details, Ji Cenzhou became an overnight sensation. The fact that an Omega had beaten up an Alpha was enough to cause a massive stir on campus.
Once the crowd dispersed, Bai Yu was still fuming. “If he had not transferred, I would have personally taught him a lesson so he would know that we Omegas are not to be trifled with!”
Ji Cenzhou asked, “Wan Xu transferred?”
“Yes, the paperwork is already finished,” Bai Yu replied.
Ji Cenzhou was quite surprised. He had not expected the school to actually uphold justice. He had assumed that with the Wan family’s influence, Wan Xu would just receive a minor punishment and the whole thing would be swept under the rug. He did not expect him to transfer out directly. Then again, it might have been Wan Xu’s own request; these rumors would be unbearable for an Alpha who cared deeply about his dignity.
Having dealt with Wan Xu, Ji Cenzhou felt much better. He spent the entire morning self-study period comforting the still-agitated Bai Yu.
About a week after school started, their class advisor and Chinese teacher finally arrived.
Wang Hao, who sat behind them and could not stand sitting at an empty desk, struck up a conversation with Bai Yu. “I heard our class advisor is a big deal. Apparently, he is a top-tier provincial teacher and a close friend of our principal. He only came here to teach because the principal invited him personally.”
“A top-tier teacher? That sounds impressive,” Bai Yu said. “Usually, people that skilled have bad tempers. I wonder what his personality is like.”
“Even if his temper is terrible, it cannot be worse than ‘Old Man Grumpy.’ I am just praying the class advisor gets here soon to rescue us from this misery.”
Bai Yu nodded in fervent agreement. “Yes, I cannot stand Liu Qi’s sharp, mean face either.”
Noticing the empty seat next to Wang Hao, Bai Yu asked, “Where is the class monitor?”
“He took the morning off; he will be back this afternoon,” Wang Hao replied. “Hey, Bai, can I borrow your biology homework to copy? Save a brother’s life here.”
Bai Yu shrugged. “You are too late. I already lent it to someone else.”
Wang Hao turned his gaze. “Then, Ji, could I borrow yours?”
Ji Cenzhou glanced at him and tossed his biology notebook onto the desk. Wang Hao opened it to find bold, grand handwriting filling the pages. It looked exactly like the notebook of a star student.
Wang Hao sighed in admiration. “Ji, your grades must be amazing.”
Ji Cenzhou smiled. “I am in the fifties.”
He neglected to mention that he meant the bottom fifty.
“Alright, everyone quiet down. Class is about to start,” the deputy class monitor announced. Since Jiang Mosen was absent, the deputy was handling discipline. Everyone sat up straight, eagerly awaiting their new teacher.
The bell rang, and a kind-looking middle-aged man walked in carrying a thermos. He did not have a particularly striking appearance, but he radiated a sense of warmth and harmony that made people feel comfortable.
After entering, he placed his thermos on the lectern. He was not in a hurry to introduce himself. Instead, he scanned the room with a cheerful expression and said slowly, “Before I introduce myself, I would like everyone to open your Chinese textbook to page three and find the name of the associate editor.”
The class was baffled, except for the Chinese class representative, who looked shocked. “Our teacher is also named Xu Lei!”
Everyone looked down. Sure enough, next to the title of Associate Editor was the name: Xu Lei. The classroom instantly exploded.
“Holy crap! This is insane!”
“The associate editor of the textbook is our Chinese teacher!”
“I heard he was a big deal, but I did not think he was this important.”
“If he wrote the book, do you think he sets the exam questions too?”
Everyone turned to look at Xu Lei. Suddenly, his aura seemed powerful, almost like that of a hidden master.
Seeing their gazes, Xu Lei nodded with satisfaction. “Nice to meet you. We just happen to share the same name.”
Ji Cenzhou: “?” Bai Yu: “??” Wang Hao: “???” The whole class: “????”
After a few seconds of silence, someone could not hold it in and snorted. The entire class erupted into laughter. Some students were laughing so hard they were slumped over their desks.
Xu Lei was not annoyed. He waited for the laughter to die down before continuing, “Well, consider us introduced then. When I walked in, I saw a student dozing off. I assume you are awake now?”
Everyone was practically dying of laughter; there was no way anyone was sleepy now.
Though he was not the associate editor, Xu Lei was undeniably skilled. His lecture was full of wit, and when he touched upon history, he quoted classics and cited sources with ease. He was clearly a man of profound culture. No one bothered to check the clock; it felt as though class had only just started when it suddenly ended.
After the two periods ended, the usual midday exercises were canceled for a general cleaning session. Ji Cenzhou was assigned to clean the windows.
Wang Hao was also on window duty. He said to Ji Cenzhou, “Ji, go take a break. I will handle this myself. Consider it payback for the homework favor this morning.”
Ji Cenzhou did not stand on ceremony. He tossed the newspaper to Wang Hao and said, “Thanks.”
He went to the restroom, and just as he returned to his desk to take a nap, he heard someone call his name. Looking up, he saw Gu Lin standing at the doorway, looking furious. Ji Cenzhou clicked his tongue in annoyance and stood up to walk over.
“What is it?” Ji Cenzhou asked, his hands in his pockets, sounding bored.
Gu Lin hated Ji Cenzhou so much he wanted to tear his face apart. It was because of him that Wan Xu had transferred and insisted on breaking up. Gu Lin could not understand how things had ended up like this. In his mind, it was Ji Cenzhou who had shamelessly seduced his boyfriend.
“Ji Cenzhou, are you satisfied now?” Gu Lin asked through gritted teeth.
Ji Cenzhou yawned. “It is alright. By the way, do you have something important to say? If not, I am going back to sleep.”
Seeing Ji Cenzhou’s indifferent attitude, Gu Lin burned with the desire to crush him. He suddenly remembered a weakness.
“Don’t get cocky with me, Ji Cenzhou. Think about who you are. Your grades are at the bottom of the rankings! I would be embarrassed for you!” Gu Lin continued, “I heard you are only here because of a financial aid grant. This year, the grant has a ranking requirement. You had better work hard, or you will be packing your bags before graduation!”
Ji Cenzhou looked at Gu Lin and said hesitantly, “Thank you? I did not realize you cared so much about me.”
Gu Lin was speechless.
Standing behind Ji Cenzhou, Bai Yu could not help but snort. He had followed them, worried Gu Lin would make trouble, but it turned out Ji Cenzhou was even better at biting back. A few sentences were enough to leave Gu Lin fuming with rage.
Gu Lin snarled, “Ji Cenzhou, do you have the guts to make a bet with me?”
“About what?” Ji Cenzhou asked, sounding interested.
“Let us see who gets a better score on the monthly exams!” Gu Lin declared.
Before Ji Cenzhou could respond, Bai Yu tried to intervene. He knew Ji Cenzhou’s rank was low. With less than three weeks until the exams, how could he possibly overtake Gu Lin, who was in the top hundred?
“Gu Lin, don’t push it. You are only making this bet because you think you have already won. In just one month, Cenzhou could not possibly—”
Ji Cenzhou interrupted Bai Yu and looked at Gu Lin. “Fine. The monthly exam it is. But without stakes, it would be too boring.”
Gu Lin was stunned. He did not believe three weeks were enough for Ji Cenzhou to pass him. In their second year of high school, the curriculum was complex; Ji Cenzhou would have to master everything from scratch to beat him.
Confident in his victory, Gu Lin asked, “What stakes do you want?”
Ji Cenzhou thought for a moment. “How about this? The loser has to stand on the podium during the Monday flag-raising ceremony and shout to the entire school: ‘[Name] is amazing, [Name] is my Daddy!'”
Gu Lin’s face flushed bright red. He had not expected such a wild stake. He was someone who valued his reputation; doing something like that would be worse than death. However, convinced he would win, he readily agreed.
After Gu Lin left, Bai Yu leaned in and whispered, “Cenzhou, what exactly is your rank?”
“Just over eight hundred,” Ji Cenzhou replied.
Bai Yu felt the need to bring him back to reality. “Do you know how many students are in the science stream?”
“How many?”
“Eight hundred and fifty.”
After hearing this, Ji Cenzhou fell into a long, silent contemplation. Bai Yu eventually spoke up to comfort him. “Cenzhou, don’t be too upset. I will help you.”
Ji Cenzhou turned to look at Bai Yu with a strange expression. “Why would I be upset? With this much room for improvement, I should be thrilled! I am just disappointed the school does not give a scholarship to the student who improves their rank the most.”
Bai Yu was speechless. “Fine then. You keep dreaming; I will shut up.”
