The Tragic Heroine Fell in Love with Me - Chapter 65
The next moment, Zheng Qi appeared before Mond Helge.
Mond Helge had seen Zheng Qi before. The earliest time was during a university exchange program when he met Xiao San, a simple and delicate girl. Later, in Xiao San’s apartment, he encountered Zheng Qi again. By then, Zheng Qi had shed her youthful naivety and taken on the sharp competence of the professional world.
But Mond Helge never expected that Zheng Qi, stripped of all pretense, would be like this.
Of course.
The daughter of Count Corley, hidden away for over a decade, how could she possibly be a simple character?
Her expression was calm as she stepped from behind the scenes to the forefront. Her striking beauty was no longer concealed by timidity, and her gaze was sharp, like an icy wind, piercingly cold.
Her appearance hadn’t changed; it was only the look in her eyes.
There was no trace of gentleness left in her. Instead, she resembled a venomous snake lurking in the shadows or a cold blade hidden within ice.
Just a single glance from her felt like being cut by a knife.
Mond Helge quickly averted his gaze.
“Miss Misery, we have no intention of seizing the position of Count. We merely wish to survive within the Helge family.” When facing Li Allen, Mond Helge could negotiate with a business-like tone, but when facing Zheng Qi, he completely lost any desire to fight back.
All he wanted was to be spared.
“I don’t think the Helge family would want a woman as their Count either,” Zheng Qi said with a laugh. Her words seemed lighthearted, but upon closer listening, one could detect the chill within them.
“Not everyone in the Helge family places such importance on bloodline. We simply want an outstanding leader who can guide the Helge family toward a more prosperous future.”
Zheng Qi scoffed. “I’m not testing you, nor do I care to change the minds of everyone in the Helge family. I just don’t feel like going to France, I prefer it here.”
Mond Helge looked at Zheng Qi in confusion.
“Don’t worry. As long as you obediently follow orders, you won’t just survive in the Helge family.”
The memory came to an abrupt halt. Mond Helge had no intention of slandering Zheng Qi in any way.
He didn’t want to give her any leverage over him.
It would be fatal.
He looked affectionately at Xiao San. “You are the simplest person I’ve ever met.”
Xiao San snorted, thinking that after just two days apart, Mond Helge had become even more foolish.
“By the way, has Shen Lin come again?” Xiao San didn’t believe Shen Lin would give up so easily.
“Ah, Shen Lin.”
Before Mond Helge could finish speaking, a knock came from the door.
Xiao San glanced at Mond Helge and mouthed, “No way.”
As the saying goes, speak of the devil. Xiao San had a feeling the person knocking outside was Shen Lin.
Mond Helge shook his head in disbelief. “How could it be such a coincidence?”
As he spoke, he walked to the door and opened it.
Sure enough.
Standing outside was Shen Lin.
In his hands, he held a bouquet of fresh roses vibrant red roses, their brilliant color almost glowing.
Shen Lin leaned against the doorframe, striking a pose. Hearing the door open, he immediately raised a bouquet of flowers, lifting his head with what he thought was a romantic flair. His hair stood tall and spiky, like a hedgehog’s, nearly poking Mond Helge’s hand.
Mond Helge quickly stepped back two paces. “I have no interest in you.”
Shen Lin looked at Mond Helge, his movements freezing, his face full of regret. “Why are you still here?”
Mond Helge replied, “If I’m not here, where else would I be?”
Shen Lin glared at Mond Helge impatiently and said coldly, “Shouldn’t you have gone back to F Country?”
Mond Helge rolled his eyes and walked into the living room. “Just as I thought, it’s this unwelcome person again.”
Shen Lin paid no mind to Mond Helge’s verbal jab. He followed him into the living room and saw Xiao San eating with Mond Helge. His expression darkened a bit. He glanced around but didn’t see Zheng Qi, and his impatience became even more obvious.
“Where’s Zheng Qi?” he immediately exuded confidence. “No matter how much she avoids me, she can’t hide the fact that she likes me.”
Xiao San poked at the food with her chopsticks a few times. Poking at food was a bad habit, but the moment she saw Shen Lin, she completely lost her appetite.
“You’re so full of yourself. How do you know Ah Qi is avoiding you?”
Shen Lin was a strange person. Every time he came, he was furious, exploding after just a few words. Then, a few days later, he’d be back again. It was really hard to like him.
“Where’s Zheng Qi? I don’t want to talk to you.” Shen Lin deliberately avoided Xiao San. Whenever he faced her, he always displayed an inexplicable arrogance.
“Ah Qi doesn’t want to see you.”
“You’re not her. How do you know she doesn’t want to see me?” Shen Lin snorted.
Suddenly, Zheng Qi’s voice came from the bedroom. She opened the door and walked out slowly.
“She may not be me, but she knows all my thoughts.”
She was like a painting, dressed in red pajamas with only a shawl draped over her shoulders. Her skin was as white as snow, her lips as red as blood, and her eyes sparkled like stars in the sky. Some people only needed to stand there to capture everyone’s attention.
She walked out slowly, her face still flushed with the drowsiness of just waking up.
She approached Xiao San, wrapped an arm around her waist, and said, “Snap out of it.”
Xiao San’s ear was gently blown on, and her face suddenly turned red.
Xiao San lowered her head, her earlobes burning uncomfortably. She had to reach up and touch the spot Zheng Qi had blown on.
That spot was now filled with Zheng Qi’s lingering presence, making her even more embarrassed than if Zheng Qi were standing right beside her.
Zheng Qi tilted her head and leaned against Xiao San.
Shen Lin watched Zheng Qi and Xiao San, pointing a finger at them.
The atmosphere between these two gave him a bad feeling.
But he didn’t think too much about it.
He raised the bouquet of roses in front of Zheng Qi.
“I’ve brought you flowers. You never accepted them before, but now that I’m giving them to you in person, stop being so stubborn.” He spoke to Zheng Qi as if bestowing a favor.
Zheng Qi burst out laughing. “I don’t need your flowers. I’ve told you that long ago.”
Xiao San also lifted her chin, speaking with great impatience, “Why can’t you get it? Why do you keep shamelessly showing up in front of me and Ah Qi? Ah Qi doesn’t need your affection.”
“Xiao San,” Shen Lin looked at her as if she were an unruly child, “Xiao San, you should have understood long ago that there’s no possibility between us. No matter how much you try to drive a wedge between me and Zheng Qi, it’s over.”
“Hahaha,” Xiao San pointed at her own nose, “What do you mean? Do you think I have feelings for you?”
Xiao San was almost laughing herself to death. Shen Lin, this narcissist, did he really think everyone was blind?
Although Ah Qi might have been blind before, now Ah Qi liked her.
Xiao San felt a sweet joy in her heart.
Ever since she had to accept Zheng Qi, she had begun to realize that while Zheng Qi might not be entirely pure-hearted toward her, she wasn’t exactly innocent toward him either.
Before Shen Lin could utter another narcissistic remark, Zheng Qi suddenly lowered his head. Xiao San felt a force at her waist as Zheng Qi pulled her close, their abdomens pressed tightly together. Just as she was about to blush, she felt Zheng Qi’s slender fingers grip her chin.
Next, Xiao San slightly parted her lips, and Zheng Qi’s soft tongue licked around the edges of her mouth. That tenderness filled her heart to the brim.
They say the most intoxicating kiss is like writing with a brush.
Xiao San felt as if she were being forced to write countless characters perhaps as many as in the “Three Character Classic” or “Thousand Character Classic.”
By the time Xiao San was breathless and their lips parted, there were still lingering threads of connection between them, making her feel even more embarrassed.
She lowered her head, burying her face in Zheng Qi’s chest.
She could hear his heavy breathing and the rapid, soft beating of his heart. Lifting her eyes, she saw that Zheng Qi’s chin was also slightly flushed.
That redness seemed to be from her unrestrained nibbling.
Xiao San closed her eyes, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst.
“Shen Lin, don’t keep testing my limits just because I cherish our childhood bond.”
Shen Lin stared blankly at the scene before him, which had completely shattered his worldview.
On one hand, he believed that Zheng Qi and Xiao San were putting on an act; his confidence made him refuse to accept what was happening.
On the other hand, he felt it was all real, but he had been abandoned by both Zheng Qi and Xiao San.
Anger, fury, shock a whirlwind of emotions surged in his mind like raging waves, relentlessly crashing over him.
“You, you!”
He trembled as he pointed at Xiao San and Zheng Qi. The bouquet of roses, which he had believed would resolve the issues between him and Zheng Qi, fell to the ground, trampled like Shen Ling’s pride.
Shen Lin took a step forward, crushing the flowers beneath his feet, the petals scattering and breaking.
Meng De Hei Er Ge turned away.
He didn’t dare watch Zheng Qi’s little game.
He wasn’t as reckless as Shen Lin, who dared to confront Zheng Qi head-on.
“Zheng Qi, what are you doing? Do you even realize what you’re doing right now?”
Zheng Qi let out a cold laugh.
“If your father knew what you’ve done, do you think you could ever go back?”
“Do you think I care about that bastard Zheng Quanqiang?” Shen Lin kept pushing Zheng Qi’s limits, which had long made her uncomfortable. Yet she remained too soft-hearted, for Shen Lin was different to her.
“Zheng Quanqiang? How could I possibly be talking about him?”
