The Tough Guy Forced To Become The Broodmother - Chapter 8
Chapter 8: The Sled Three Idiots
Gu Qiyin left Madam Red Fox with the information he needed. He kicked the hover-bike into gear and accelerated to find Xu Ze.
As the saying goes, “A small recluse hides in the mountains, a great recluse hides in the city.” Gu Qiyin hadn’t expected Xu Ze to have the nerve to stay right inside the Lost City. He arrived at the address provided by the Red Fox.
The house was dilapidated but still equipped with basic anti-theft measures. There were no lights on inside; it seemed the owner wasn’t home.
Gu Qiyin smirked and pushed the door open.
Suddenly, a figure leaped from the shadows, aiming a strike at his vitals.
Gu Qiyin blocked the attack instantly, pinned the attacker to the ground with a counter-grab, and used his powerful mental energy to lock the man’s movements. If he so much as twitched, Gu Qiyin’s mental force would crush him instantly.
“Monster…” The man panted on the floor, his eyes bloodshot, glaring hatefully at Gu Qiyin.
Gu Qiyin raised an eyebrow. “Xu Ze.”
The man on the ground fell silent for a moment before grunting in acknowledgment. “Yeah.”
Gu Qiyin released him. Xu Ze scrambled up, fumbled through the darkness with practiced familiarity, and flicked on a light. Under the dim, yellowish glow, Xu Ze appeared unkempt and stubble-faced, having lost every bit of his former glory.
“Xiao Gu, what are you here for? To mock me?” Xu Ze stood to the side, asking coldly.
Gu Qiyin found a chair and sat down. “I’m not that bored. I’m here to ask a few things.”
Xu Ze spat on the floor. “That depends on whether I feel like talking.”
Gu Qiyin ignored his attitude, resting his arm casually on the back of the chair. “Back then, did the Academy of Sciences really only have one vial of the Broodmother’s Essence?”
Xu Ze: “I don’t know.”
Gu Qiyin nodded. “You were close to the Academy people. Did they have a Broodmother Egg?”
Xu Ze sneered. “I’d be even less likely to know something like that!”
Gu Qiyin: “Where is Xu Lili, the woman who took the little prince?”
Xu Ze: “I don’t know. Haven’t seen her in years.”
Gu Qiyin’s gaze turned dark. “Now for the final question. Where is the vial of Original Broodmother’s Essence that the Zerg lost? Who gave it to you?”
“Hmph. You can guess, but I won’t tell you,” Xu Ze sneered. “I guess it’s my bad luck you found me. That bitch Red Fox!”
Xu Ze’s “do what you want” attitude made Gu Qiyin let out a cold laugh.
“Tsk.” Gu Qiyin stood up and said politely, “Sorry, I’m a bit short on time. Bear with me.”
Xu Ze had a bad premonition. “What are you doing?!”
Gu Qiyin twisted his mental energy into a single spike and pierced it directly into Xu Ze’s mind. Xu Ze instinctively raised a mental defense, but it was shredded like paper.
Gu Qiyin rummaged through his brain. Finally, he found it.
On the first three questions, the useless waste was telling the truth; his only memory of Xu Lili was her retreating back.
But for the last question—an invisible hand had handed the essence to Xu Ze. For some reason, he had poured the liquid down the throat of a young boy. The boy had short black hair and beautiful black eyes filled with tears. He looked terrified, but that didn’t detract from his beauty…
“Wang Dudu? How could it be him?” Gu Qiyin frowned. He hadn’t realized the item had spent the night right under his nose.
But as they say, a blessing in disguise. He now had a very good reason to take the boy with him.
He tossed the gasping, eye-rolling Xu Ze onto the floor and forcefully scrubbed the memories of the boy from Xu Ze’s mind.
“I just don’t want others finding him; it would be troublesome,” Gu Qiyin muttered to himself.
Wang Dudu had swallowed the essence and didn’t explode instantly. This was becoming complicated. It was time to find that kid.
After parting with Gu Qiyin, Luo Jia followed the directions and finally found the right way. With the help of a local child, he successfully located his residence and lived a low-profile life for two days.
Luo Jia cleaned up the original owner’s room. There were a few foul-tasting nutrient sticks and nothing else. There weren’t even traces of Sister Lili living there. Didn’t they live together? A-Luo said they were family.
Luo Jia pulled out the necklace from his neck. The ring on it looked completely unremarkable. Today, he decided to head out.
The moment he stepped out, three strange characters began tailing him. Luo Jia observed them from the corner of his eye. They were tall, muscular, and had their faces covered. Their pockets were bulging, and a faint, metallic scent of blood drifted to Luo Jia’s nose.
They mean trouble.
The sense of danger stimulated Luo Jia’s nerves, and a golden shimmer flashed through his eyes. Soon, the trio cornered him in a secluded part of the scavenger camp.
Luo Jia asked calmly, “Who are you? What do you want?” Are they with the group that killed me before?
“Heh heh heh—”
One of them pulled off his headscarf, revealing a dog’s head.
Luo Jia blurted out: “Dog head?”
“Pah! I’m a wolf!” he snapped in embarrassment.
Luo Jia: “Sorry, you look a bit like a Husky.”
“Boss, stop talking to him, let’s just kill him!” another “dog head” spoke. Luo Jia looked—it was a Samoyed.
“He smells kind of nice. Do we really have to kill him? I’m kind of reluctant…” the last dog head, an Alaskan, said.
The Samoyed and Husky were furious: “Pah! If we don’t kill him, the Fox won’t give us back the items!”
The Alaskan hesitated. “But even if we kill him, will the Fox really return our collars?”
Luo Jia understood the “collar” part. He didn’t expect dogs in this world to love collars so much…
The Husky bared his teeth and roared: “So what if we kill him? At worst, we get tricked again! Better to kill a thousand by mistake than let one go!!”
The Alaskan said, “But… he smells so good…”
The Samoyed leaned in and sniffed. “It is a bit sweet.”
The Husky flashed a cruel grin, his sharp claws glinting in the sun. “Let me be the one to kill him brutally!”
As the Husky lunged closer, Luo Jia’s eyes turned completely golden. He swung a fist toward the dog’s head.
Luo Jia was incredibly fast—so fast the Husky didn’t even have time to react before being punched square in the face.
“Awooo—!” The Husky howled in pain, retreating a few steps in disbelief. “How can a mere human have this much strength?!!”
Luo Jia hadn’t expected to be this strong either, but now full of confidence, he lunged forward.
“Help me!” the Husky yelped, running with his head in his hands. The Samoyed and Alaskan exchanged looks and joined the fray.
Soon, the one getting beaten went from one dog to three.
“Wooo wooo—” The Husky sat on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. “How can we be beaten by a human…”
The Alaskan didn’t cry; instead, he said nostalgically, “My previous master used to hit me like this too.”
The Samoyed just stood there with a stiff face, unable to keep up the “smiley” Samoyed look.
Luo Jia looked at his hands and realized that “brute force creates miracles.” This must be his “cheat” or “Golden Finger” Brute Force Miracles!
Luo Jia looked down at the three dogs. “Tell me, what’s your deal?” He shook his fist. “If you don’t behave, I’ll keep hitting you!”
