The Top-Tier Alpha Refuses to Be Pretty Cannon Fodder - Chapter 21
Fang Yu had run this bar for a long time, and it wasn’t his first time seeing Alphas fighting over an Omega.
But a brawl of this magnitude was a first. If this continued, the police would likely be swarming the place in no time. Fang Yu barked a few orders to his staff and stepped out of the private booth.
The bar was a chaotic wall of noise. Fang Yu looked down at the mass of people brawling below and snapped, “Damn it, where is he?”
A waiter pointed toward the most conspicuous figure in the center of the crowd. “Boss, that’s the one!”
Fang Yu strained his eyes but couldn’t quite make the person out. He ran a hand through his hair, snatched a pair of compact binoculars from a nearby customer, and took a look.
The first person he spotted was that kid, Sheng Yan. When the boy had come looking for him earlier that evening, he had looked so pitiful that Fang Yu had assumed he was an Omega. Seeing his fighting style now, he was definitely an Alpha.
Damn it. Fang Yu actually had a lapse in judgment for once.
He shifted the lens downward, and suddenly, a lean, narrow waist came into view. Fang Yu’s eyes lit up. “Whoa, look at that waist. Incredible.”
Qi Xi, leaning against the railing, frowned. “I told you to find the person. Did you find him?”
“Should be this one.” Fang Yu’s eyes were bright. He adjusted the binoculars and looked again. “I’m telling you, this ‘troublemaker’ earned the title. That physique is absolute perfection.”
Through the lens, he saw that several buttons on the person’s black shirt had popped open—whether from the fight or something else, it was hard to say. Water droplets clung to the man’s exquisite collarbone, reflecting a faint pink hue. It was a scene of raw, skeletal beauty.
Fang Yu swallowed hard and licked his lips. “Hey, you sure you don’t want to look? I bet this guy is even better looking than your wife.”
Qi Xi: “My wife is the best looking.”
Fang Yu: “Fine, fine, your wife is the best looking.”
Fang Yu raised the binoculars again, and a delicate, noble face filled his vision. “This person.”
Suddenly, as if sensing the gaze, the man looked up directly at Fang Yu. With just one look, Fang Yu felt a chill run through his entire body; even his breathing seemed to stop.
“He… he, he.” Fang Yu snapped his head up and stared at Qi Xi. “It’s your wife.”
Qi Xi, who had been leaning leisurely against the railing, snatched the binoculars out of Fang Yu’s hand. He looked down, and that familiar face appeared in the lens.
However, the person standing in the crowd now was holding an attacker’s forearm with one hand, his expression solemn and awe-inspiring. He looked nothing like the delicate, teary-eyed boy from his memory. Qi Xi recognized him instantly: it was Lu Yunli, fresh from the Military Department.
Qi Xi’s gaze swept over the black signet ring on the man’s finger, and he tossed the binoculars back to Fang Yu. “That’s not Xingxing.”
Fang Yu: “How is that possible? It’s clearly the same face.”
Qi Xi: “It’s Xingxing’s older brother.”
“Wait, your wife’s brother… isn’t that the CEO of FLP Group, Lu Yunli?” Fang Yu grabbed the binoculars again. “The legendary ‘only’ top-tier Alpha in Country M?”
Qi Xi: “That’s him.”
Fang Yu cursed. “Damn, are those people below blind? He’s an Alpha, not an Omega! What are they fighting over?”
Qi Xi slipped a hand into his pocket and headed downstairs. “I’m going to take a look.”
Even if it wasn’t Xingxing, they were family. If his brother got hurt, Xingxing would be devastated.
Just as Fang Yu was about to put the binoculars down, he saw someone in the crowd some brainless idiot, swing a dagger and slice Lu Yunli’s hand. Blood welled from the wound instantly.
“It’s over, it’s all over.” Fang Yu’s face went pale. He pushed through the crowd blocking his way and chased after Qi Xi. “Those people are in deep trouble now!”
Downstairs, Lu Yunli stared at the wound on the back of his hand, his eyes narrowing instantly. He hadn’t wanted to cause serious injury, but his restraint had only invited more aggression.
He kicked the man in front of him away, stepped forward, and grabbed the arm of the man with the dagger, twisting it with force. Along with the clatter of the dagger hitting the floor, a piercing scream filled the air. The sound was grating; Lu Yunli frowned and shoved the man away.
The man fell backward and was caught by his own associates. Seeing their friend’s limp arm, one of them pointed at Lu Yunli and shouted.
“Damn it! You dared to break my brother’s arm!” “You’re asking for death!” “Tear his arms off, then deliver him to the bed of the Fangheng CEO!”
Lu Yunli looked down at the bleeding wound on his hand, his expression growing colder by the second. “I’ll say it one more time. Don’t provoke me.”
Sheng Yan moved to stand in front of Lu Yunli. Just as the atmosphere reached a breaking point again, Fang Yu arrived with his men and pushed through the crowd.
“Everyone, stop right now!”
Seeing the bar owner, the CEO of Fangheng changed his tune and hurried over. “It was just my men being short-sighted. They were a bit loud and disturbed you.”
Fang Yu looked down at him. “If I hadn’t come down, were you planning to tear my place apart, President Sun?”
“Just a small scuffle.” The Fangheng CEO pulled him aside, took out a roll of cash from his suit, and tried to press it into his hand. “I just want that person. See if you can look the other way…”
“Look the other way my ass! Take your damn money back!” Fang Yu glanced at Lu Yunli.
He saw Qi Xi, who had followed him down, walking toward the man. Fang Yu withdrew his gaze, poked the CEO’s shoulder, and hissed, “You idiot! Do you have any idea that the state has personal insurance on him? Never mind that you hit him, the fact that you let someone cut him today is enough to put you in prison for years!”
Lu Yunli was an Alpha, a top-tier one at that. As blood dripped onto the floor, the faint scent of White Peach Oolong pheromones quickly began to spread through the air.
The system’s piercing alarm blared in Lu Yunli’s ear.
[520: Warning! Warning! Character is about to go OOC!] [520: Dear, your pheromones are at risk of exposure! Leave now!]
The score hadn’t been settled yet; how could he leave? Lu Yunli covered his hand. “Sheng Yan, go find me some gauze.”
A sweet, cloying fragrance of White Peach Oolong drifted through the air. It was a sweet, seductive trap poisonous and extremely dangerous. Sheng Yan had only caught a whiff when he realized his own pheromone strength was weakening, and his blood began to boil.
Could this scent be…
Sheng Yan glanced at Lu Yunli. Once a top-tier Alpha’s pheromones are released, whether it’s an A or an O, everyone will fall. Lu Yunli was saving him. Sheng Yan didn’t ask anything; he just took a breath and said, “Okay, I’m going. Wait for me.”
Lu Yunli watched him leave, his gaze landing on Qi Xi, who was walking closer. He saw the man’s eyes drop to his blood-stained hand.
While no one was looking, Lu Yunli swept a row of wine bottles off a nearby table, then hopped up to sit on the table, bracing himself with his arms. The bottles shattered in a cacophony, and the pungent smell of alcohol instantly overwhelmed the scent of White Peach Oolong.
Whether by design or coincidence, a bottle smashed right in front of Qi Xi, splashing liquor onto his trousers and making him stop abruptly.
Lu Yunli held his wound and felt Qi Xi’s gaze, but he ignored it. Instead, he called out, “Owner.”
The moment the bottles smashed, Fang Yu had hurried over. He stared at the mess on Qi Xi’s clothes and twitched his lips. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think someone just cheated on this ‘ancestor’ here.”
Qi Xi scoffed coldly. “Xingxing has a much better temper than him.”
Fang Yu patted Qi Xi’s shoulder. “Since he clearly doesn’t like you, don’t go over there. I’ll check on him.” Qi Xi gave a grunt of affirmation.
Fang Yu walked up. “President Lu.”
Lu Yunli withdrew his gaze from Qi Xi and looked at Fang Yu, who was a Beta. “I’m injured. Get all these bystanders out of here.”
Fang Yu understood instantly and began ushering customers out, repeatedly warning them not to leak anything that happened here.
Twenty minutes later, Fang Yu took the gauze from Sheng Yan and stepped forward. “President Lu, everyone is gone.”
Lu Yunli tilted his chin toward Qi Xi. “Tell him to get lost too.”
Before Fang Yu could speak, Qi Xi crossed his arms and looked at Sheng Yan. “What about him?”
Sheng Yan sat down on a nearby chair. “I am President Lu’s person.”
Qi Xi sat down directly on the sofa next to Sheng Yan. “Then we’re practically family.”
Lu Yunli: “…”
Fang Yu asked tentatively, “So, President Lu…”
“If they want to stay, let them.” Lu Yunli closed his eyes, feeling a headache coming on. “Les.”
Les, who had rushed over after receiving the news, bowed and stepped forward with a doctor and an insurance representative. “President Lu, let the doctor examine your wound.”
Lu Yunli uncovered his hand. The bleeding had stopped, but the cut looked quite gruesome. Although an Alpha’s wounds heal quickly, Lu Yunli was sensitive to pain; even a small scratch would make him whine for a long time.
As the doctor used alcohol to disinfect the area, Lu Yunli flinched, his eyes turning slightly red from the sting. Sensing a gaze on him, he knew exactly who it was without looking. Fearing Qi Xi would notice something, the “be gentler” he wanted to say turned into: “Hurry up.”
The doctor increased his speed. Lu Yunli clenched his hands tightly behind his back.
“President Lu.” Les’s voice sounded in front of him. Lu Yunli’s long lashes fluttered as he opened his eyes. “Speak.”
Les handed him a document from the insurance company. “This is the compensation amount. Please take a look.”
What a coincidence; he was just out of cash, and someone practically begged to give him money. Lu Yunli glanced at the figure and raised an eyebrow. “Give it to him.”
Les stepped down and handed the document to the CEO of Fangheng. The massive compensation amount made the CEO’s face go pale as he slumped onto the floor.
Sheng Yan tossed a peanut into his mouth. “Wasn’t President Sun acting quite high and mighty just now? Saying something about tearing arms off and delivering people to your bed?”
The CEO pointed at his subordinates. “That… they were the ones who said it! Don’t blame me, it has nothing to do with me!”
Thinking of something, he scrambled over to Lu Yunli. “President Lu, I was blind before! You have such a vast enterprise could you please be magnanimous and let me go this once?”
Lu Yunli looked down. “President Sun, you cursed me, insulted me, and injured me, and now you want to walk away scot-free? Where in the world is it that easy?”
“Les.”
Les stepped forward with a POS machine. Under the man’s deathly pale gaze, Lu Yunli smiled and raised his hand. “Credit or cash, why don’t you pick one?”
