The Survival Strategy of the Contract Duchess - Chapter 92
“Were you bothered by that?” I thought you’d forgotten.”
Sasha asked playfully. Kyle coughed awkwardly and looked away, prompting Sasha to giggle again.
“Well, it’s a bit embarrassing to say this. At first, I just thought I had to do it to survive, lying in bed like that. But it gradually became really nice. I think it was because Kyler was so careful with me.”
“Hmm, was I?”
The carefully recalled memory made Kyler’s throat hot. Sasha seemed brave for bringing up that day.
He had started with a simple sense of duty, but somewhere along the way, he seemed to have lost his reason. He was confused for a while. Did he really desire this woman’s body?
Even without being deeply connected, his ears would quiet down, so why did he force himself to return every three days to hold her and fall asleep?
Now he knew that his heart had moved, that he loved the woman before him, but thinking back, he worried about how Sasha would recall him then. Even if she doubted his current feelings because of it, he would be upset.
Sasha sat upright in a chair facing the window, looking up at the bright moon and the stars scattered around it. Fortunately, there seemed to be no shadow on her face.
“Don’t doubt my feelings.”
Sasha turned to him, surprised that he was suddenly talking about their first night together and asking her not to doubt his feelings. Seeing her confused expression, Kyler quickly turned his head away. Only candlelight illuminated the moonlit night, so she wouldn’t be able to see his flushed face.
“It started that way but I never just wanted your body. I truly love you completely now.”
But he looked at her again and tossed out the heart-fluttering confession casually.
His confession, against the backdrop of the candlelit, deeply lined face and the moonlit hall of the Duke’s residence, struck Sasha’s heart.
“I don’t think I’ll ever forget this night either.”
When she thought of the nights they had spent together, most of the memories were slightly embarrassing, but Kyler, sparkling in the darkness, was also excitingly handsome.
Sasha raised her wine glass towards him. It was her first time drinking it, and since she had never seen him drink, it seemed like he had given her a sweet wine instead of red wine.
Kyler, who had been watching her, raised his glass and clinked it against hers.
“I’ve never loved before, even when I wanted to. I didn’t even know what love between family members was like.”
Except for a few important parts, Sasha’s and his lives had some similarities. She had it but didn’t receive it, and he didn’t have it in the first place.
They both grew up without knowing parental love.
“So, I might be clumsy, and I don’t know if this is exactly right, but…”
Nevertheless, he wanted to tell her. Just as he felt.
“I love Kyler very much too.”
Hoping that the smile I was giving him now looked pretty, I made a bright maze.
I thought we would sit there longer the night before, but after confessing our love for each other, we soon went to Kyler’s room.
Knowing that we both completely wanted each other and embracing each other was a subtly different sensation than before. The feeling was soft yet passionate, and when Sasha opened her eyes in the morning, her face turned red before she was even fully awake.
As soon as she came to her senses, the feeling of being held in his arms flared up.
“You’re awake.”
And Kyler immediately noticed that Sasha was waking up and spoke to her.
“Really?”
Even his voice was too sexy, what to do, really!
His laughter was heard above Sasha, who was covering her face as if she was being ridiculous and screaming internally. Don’t laugh. Is there anything that isn’t handsome about him?
He didn’t try to stimulate her from the morning, but just stroked Sasha’s round bare shoulder.
“Sasha, did you have any plans for today?”
Kyler asked softly, stroking her shoulder and patting around it repeatedly. Sasha slowly blinked her eyes as if falling asleep again at his touch and answered slowly.
“Today, I don’t have anything. I was thinking of going to the library.”
Lazy sunlight and lazy warmth, touch, and voice. Sasha was having a happy morning.
“If you don’t mind, would you like to go to Uhalin with me?”
But then came a story that made Sasha’s mind flash. Did I hear something wrong?
Sasha came out of his arms and looked up at him. How could he be so flawlessly handsome even in the morning after waking up? She was distracted by his too-handsome face for a moment, then turned back and looked straight into his eyes.
There was nothing negative in his eyes, such as worry.
“I’m fine with it. If it doesn’t get in the way of Kyler’s work.”
She answered him with a pleasant smile. Her heart seemed to be maintaining its composure, but he probably had a lot of worries before bringing it up to me, and he must still be trembling inside.
Only then did Kyler’s dark eyes tremble slightly as she answered readily. Even his eyes seemed to be nervous, so she burst into a smile.
“Then we have to go out now, when are you going to let me go?”
The hand that had been wrapped around her shoulder to look up at him had fallen, but the other arm that was wrapped around her waist was still embracing her.
Kyler looked at Sasha without answering her cheeky question. Even Sasha, who had answered so brightly without a care, felt her face turn red as she received his gaze.
“What is it? Aren’t you going out? Isn’t Dylan waiting?”
“Well, even if he ends up waiting, he probably knows why we’re late.”
Sasha’s eyes widened at his suddenly playful reply. Sasha, whose face was about to explode, lowered her head deeply. Her forehead fell on his shoulder.
“What is that? Then I want to go out faster.”
Kyler’s laughter was conveyed through the shaking of his shoulders.
It was a morning in the Duke’s residence that was pink in many ways.
“Good morning, Lady Sasha.”
Dylan smiled and bowed, looking at the owner who came out almost near lunchtime. He smiled at Sasha, who was smiling awkwardly, and looked across at Kyler.
Seeing him meet his gaze without wavering even at the meaningful gaze, Dylan withdrew his gaze and coughed.
“We will go to the Uhalin Forest together.”
But he had no choice but to look back at him at the words Kyler uttered. Dylan knew what his intentions were. Does, this Duchess know that too?
“Let’s go.”
“Yes, Yes!”
Dylan immediately ran to the horse behind the carriage, and Kyler held out his hand to Sasha and escorted her.
The two sat side by side in the carriage, holding hands.
“Does the Duchess have a lot to do? I’ve never really seen the Marchioness of Ivern do anything during the day, so I don’t know.”
It wasn’t something to be cheerful about, but it didn’t seem like something to be gloomy about either, so I added. I was holding his hand, but it wasn’t enough, I wanted to hear his voice too.
“I was too young, so I don’t remember exactly what my mother did.”
But unexpectedly, the word ‘mother’ that came out of his mouth stuck in Sasha’s head.
“Mother, what kind of person was she? Looking at the dresses, I think she must have been very elegant and beautiful.”
I don’t know what the basis is, but I just thought so when I saw the dress. That’s why I tried to wear the dresses that were originally here rather than new dresses.
With the thought that I hope it suits me well too.
“My mother was a very beautiful person. My eyes looked just like my mother’s.”
“Wow, then your father must have had black hair. Cool!”
Fortunately, Kyler didn’t seem to be having a hard time reminiscing about his parents. How much pain did he have to go through and overcome, or suppress and bury, to get to this point?
It wasn’t that I couldn’t guess because I didn’t have it, so I smiled more brightly and gave strength to the hands I was holding.
“My mother was a very cheerful person. My father was similar to me. I remember everyone saying that my mother was a waste. There were also aristocratic ladies who asked if it wasn’t frustrating to live with such a personality, if it didn’t make you angry.”
Sasha realized again that she really liked listening to Kyler’s soft, low voice. She leaned her shoulder against his wide shoulder.
She felt him look down and smile. I could tell even if I couldn’t see it.
“Sometimes I didn’t like the personality that was too similar to my father. It was difficult to even bring up a word, and I didn’t like that other people were too afraid of me and kept me away when I was young.”
“Isn’t it more comfortable now? If the young ladies knew that Kyler is a very kind person than he looks. How annoying would it be?”
Kyler quietly raised the corners of his lips at Sasha’s words, who joined in with his words while laughing again. How many words in that one word make him tremble.
The carriage carrying the two people, who were exuding a sweet atmosphere from the morning, steadily headed towards the Uhalin Forest.
