The Silly Prince Successfully Cancels the Engagement, But the Fiancée is His Childhood Sweetheart - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Rank 101
For convenience, and to avoid drawing attention, Xiang Zhuo moved out of Stonkyn Palace and purchased a house near the National Defense Military Academy to reside in temporarily.
When Xiang Zhuo returned home, if he followed his usual routine, he would browse the messages on his terminal, chew on the huge brick of an ancient paper book the old King forcibly made him read, do a few sets of daily exercises, and then take a shower and go to sleep.
But today, for some unknown reason, he had already added several sets of physical training, yet still felt like he had endless energy.
An Omega, why train so desperately?
Xiang Zhuo forcefully shook his head, using continuous training to force himself to forget the chaotic thoughts in his mind. Perhaps it was that strange competitive spirit at play.
Xiang Zhuo counted. The number of sets he had completed was exactly about the same as Bai Qing’s extra training, plus one more set.
Only then did Xiang Zhuo stop.
The massive physical exertion made his brain’s thinking ability sluggish. As he drank water, he couldn’t help but wonder:
That Bai Qing, clearly an Omega, does so much training in one evening—isn’t he tired?
Xiang Zhuo drank the last sip of the energy drink, stood up, and inexplicably added ten sets of stretching to his routine.
If that Omega wasn’t tired, how could he, an Alpha, possibly lose to him!
…
During the two weeks before the assessment exam, the National Defense Military Academy did not schedule any actual specialized courses, only some basic public lectures. Even so, the class schedule was almost completely full. For those students who wanted to perform spectacularly in the assessment exam, studying during the day was nearly impossible.
With two days left until the exam, Ye Sheng watched Bai Qing train in rock climbing that evening. Bai Qing chose the most difficult route. His movements were clean, precise, and highly skillful, and the time taken was very short. Ye Sheng timed him with a stopwatch and, after calculating the score, gave Bai Qing a thumbs-up.
“Rock climbing, perfect score! Congratulations, Student Bai.”
Bai Qing showed no extra emotional reaction. He returned to the ground: “Next item, shooting.”
Looking at Bai Qing, who was training so hard for the assessment exam, Ye Sheng sighed with emotion: “I always wondered what kind of people the assessment exam was trying to screen for, but now I think I get it. The assessment exam is either trying to screen for geniuses who can score well without preparation, or it’s trying to screen for people like you.”
Bai Qing paused: “People like me?”
Ye Sheng: “People who are already geniuses but are excessively hardworking.”
Bai Qing shook his head, picked up the gun dedicated to shooting practice, and, without any emotion, very calmly yet elegantly, hit the bullseye.
Ye Sheng whistled: “Alright, alright. You’re already strong in shooting; don’t waste time on it. Let’s practice long-distance running and swimming.”
…
Just before the assessment exam, the National Defense Military Academy issued a notice through the Smart Guide.
From tomorrow onward, all students must wear the uniform. Violators will be prohibited from entering the campus.
…
Ye Sheng thought he was already immune to Bai Qing’s beauty.
But this morning, when he saw Bai Qing wearing the Military Academy uniform, he still heavily drew a sharp breath.
The Military Academy uniform was entirely military dress, but without epaulets, replaced instead by golden tassels.
The ink-black uniform was stiff and form-fitting, accentuating Bai Qing’s tall and slender figure. Coupled with the long military boots perfectly encasing his calves, his entire presence was like a long sword sheathed, beautiful yet concealing a sharp edge.
However, the entire atmosphere was ruined by the little Emperor Penguin chick perched on Bai Qing’s shoulder.
Ye Sheng laughed out loud: “I think I kind of understand now why everyone wants cool, handsome Smart Guides, like an eagle or a wolf.”
Bai Qing ignored him: “How did you prepare for the assessment exam?”
Ye Sheng shook his head: “Not well. I didn’t intend to. Even if I don’t do well, there won’t be any effect, so I’ll just muddle through.”
“Speaking of which, did you submit that application to dissolve the binding relationship? Was it approved? Your fiancé is so eager to break it off; he should put some effort into it! The King is his own father; surely breaking the engagement would be easy for him.”
Bai Qing’s pupils slightly dilated upon hearing the word “fiancé,” and the corner of his mouth dropped by a pixel, showing his dissatisfaction with the term: “It has been submitted, but there’s been no result.”
Ye Sheng watched Bai Qing’s change in expression with interest, unable to stop himself from chuckling.
…
After arriving at the Military Academy, the two walked side by side into the main gate, unaware that Xiang Zhuo and Jing Yu arrived at the same time. Jing Yu spotted Bai Qing from a long distance away. The moment Bai Qing turned his head sideways, Jing Yu suddenly stopped and held his breath. The next second, he darted out, only to be grabbed by the collar of his uniform by Xiang Zhuo: “Where are you going?”
Jing Yu looked innocent: “I’m going to ask Bai Qing for his contact information.”
Xiang Zhuo: “Can’t you contact him through the Smart Guide?”
Jing Yu: “That’s the campus intranet contact. It includes a dialogue window for everyone in the Military Academy. It’s too official! Besides, is a private contact method the same as an intranet contact?”
“You can contact them for business. What’s the difference?”
Jing Yu looked heartbroken: “It’s vastly different! Forget it, you wouldn’t understand. Wait for me for a bit; I’ll send you his contact info too.”
Xiang Zhuo: “…” Not particularly interested.
Two more Alphas walked past, their conversation clearly reaching Xiang Zhuo and Jing Yu’s ears.
“Who is that person? Did the academy admit a divine beauty like that this year?”
“That person is… Bai Qing from Class 33.”
“Is he an Alpha? Can an Alpha really look like that?”
After a long pause, the other person didn’t respond. He took a deep breath and said with determination: “If my other half could be him, I’d be willing to turn gay.”
The other person muttered: “Me too. But it’s not certain. What if he’s a Beta?”
The eyes of the two Alphas instantly burst into brilliant light: “That’s right! Go, go, go! Hurry up and ask for his contact information!”
The corner of Xiang Zhuo’s mouth kept twitching.
In just the time since he arrived at school—about five minutes—Bai Qing was already surrounded by five or six Alphas, all asking for his contact information.
He watched firsthand as the Alphas who had just arrived at the academy, initially feigning coldness and arrogance, looked confusedly at the small crowd by the gate. After clearly seeing the silver-haired youth in the center, they uniformly froze for a moment, drew a sharp breath, and then quickly joined the circle of people.
They are acting like they’ve lost their minds.
Xiang Zhuo: “…”
Bai Qing’s silver hair was eye-catching, but his expression was exceptionally calm. He seemed completely used to this kind of scene, exposing a piece of his slender, white wrist. The virtual screen of his communication terminal floated above the back of his hand as he calmly and silently saved everyone’s contact information.
Why is he adding everyone? Doesn’t he know how to refuse?
Xiang Zhuo pushed through the dense crowd and accurately plucked the excited Jing Yu out of the group.
Jing Yu was dragged away, not forgetting to instruct Bai Qing from a distance: “I have the complete set of those materials. I’ll send them to you at seven tonight. Remember, seven o’clock!”
Xiang Zhuo said coldly: “Bewitched by beauty. Don’t contact him.”
Jing Yu leaned closer and looked at him: “Why, if I added him, can’t I contact him? You two are going to break up sooner or later, aren’t you? Unless…”
Xiang Zhuo didn’t even spare him a glance: “AO needs to maintain a strict distance. This is for your safety and everyone else’s.”
Jing Yu: “…”
Xiang Zhuo: “I’m just reminding you that you need to accompany me to the underground arena at seven tonight.”
Jing Yu: “Tsk.”
Thinking of the underground arena instantly cleared the gloom from Xiang Zhuo’s heart.
If he goes to the underground arena tonight, will he meet that person?
He had been particularly eager to see that person these past few days.
Subconsciously, Xiang Zhuo turned to look. But he hadn’t expected that across the crowd, that pair of lake-blue eyes was also looking back at him from afar.
Xiang Zhuo raised an eyebrow at Bai Qing, feeling quite cheerful.
Bai Qing: Emotionless face.
Ye Sheng beside Bai Qing suddenly seemed to sense something, rubbing the goosebumps on his body, and looked at Bai Qing with confusion.
Why did the temperature suddenly drop?
…
Although the academy notified everyone to take the assessment exam seriously, in reality, the academy itself didn’t place much emphasis on it.
The theoretical exam and the physical exam were very tightly squeezed into a single morning.
And the results were released during the short time everyone was out to lunch.
Just as everyone had suspected before the exam, this assessment exam was set up to screen students willing to pursue the Strategic Command double major.
The results only published the top 100 names. The top 50 qualified for direct entry into the Strategic Command Department. If anyone in the top 50 voluntarily relinquished their spot, the qualification would be passed down.
Bai Qing quietly browsed the rankings. Because he was severely skewed in his subjects, with long-distance running pulling down his score significantly, his rank was exactly 101.
Bai Qing looked at the score of the first-place student, Xiang Zhuo, and murmured: “You were right. The assessment exam wasn’t set up to screen for just geniuses; it was set up to screen for hardworking talent.”
Ye Sheng propped up his chin: “I figured it out long ago. Strategic Command is an extra double major and cannot be directly applied for. So, the students it needs are either geniuses who don’t need to study at all, or hard workers who are willing to put in the effort during their private time.
“You can tell just from the packed schedule over these two weeks—they didn’t give us any time to prepare for the assessment exam.”
The result of the assessment exam was within Bai Qing’s expectations. Bai Qing showed no extra emotion. He put away his communication terminal and looked at Ye Sheng: “Come with me to the underground arena tonight at seven.”
Ye Sheng teased him: “What, you didn’t get your fill of fighting during the assessment exam?”
Bai Qing: “Tonight is the Grand Prix at the underground arena, which happens once every two weeks. A lot of masters will be attending.”
Ye Sheng: “Didn’t that Jing Yu guy ask you to chat at seven tonight?”
Bai Qing recalled and finally remembered the incident: “Don’t worry about him. I’m not familiar with him.”
Ye Sheng raised an eyebrow: “Then what about the dozen or so Alphas on your contact list who are drooling over your looks? What if they try to chat with you?”
Bai Qing: “I don’t know them. I blocked their messages when I accepted their requests.”
Ye Sheng couldn’t help but let out a hearty laugh.
Alphas only slow down the speed at which my dear friend draws his sword!
