- Chapter 66 - Do You Like It When I Kiss You?
No one knew exactly what was going through Si Yu’s mind when she heard the old practitioner of Chinese medicine say that there was still hope for Xu Chengjin’s illness. As long as there was a glimmer of hope, she was determined to try, even if it made Xu Chengjin feel annoyed.
Similarly, no one knew what Xu Chengjin was feeling when she saw Si Yu beaming with joy—
“Idiot.”
Xu Chengjin raised her hand to cradle Si Yu’s face. She whispered, “Eat properly.”
“I will.”
Si Yu nuzzled her face against Xu Chengjin’s hand and rubbed the back of her hand momentarily before letting go to prepare to drive. “Since I’m the one picking the restaurant… do you want to go to my house?”
Xu Chengjin paused in her search for something to eat. Si Yu seemed to know exactly what she liked; she had bought a large variety of snacks, and Xu Chengjin noticed that the ingredient lists had been carefully vetted. The sheer quantity showed that Si Yu had spent considerable time preparing.
“Which house?”
Xu Chengjin had only ever been to Si Yu’s villa. If given the chance, she wanted to go there again. She thought it, and so she said it: “I want to go to that villa.”
Si Yu understood immediately which villa she meant. She fell silent for a few seconds before saying, “Alright.”
The villa looked exactly as it had before. After Si Yu parked the car, she told Xu Chengjin to get out. “Do you think this villa is big?”
“It’s big.”
Xu Chengjin nodded. The Xu family also owned a detached villa like this, but it seemed Si Yu was even wealthier… No, Si Yu was truly wealthy.
After all, she had gifted her a manor.
“I have another manor, though it’s not around here. I’ll take you there to play when there’s a chance. That manor is a bit slow to walk through; we can drive.”
Si Yu’s implication was clear: the manor was so large it required a car to explore.
Xu Chengjin’s footsteps faltered. She squinted her eyes at Si Yu. “Are you really that rich?”
“I am.”
Si Yu nodded, her lips curving upward. “I have a lot.”
Xu Chengjin blinked, exaggerating her reaction by opening her mouth wide. “So much money. Heavens.”
“It’s more than can be spent. Let’s go.”
Si Yu reached out and hooked her arm around Xu Chengjin’s neck to lead her forward. Her movements were gentle. “I’ll cook for you. Will you eat?”
Xu Chengjin nodded. “I’ll eat. I want tomato and scrambled eggs.”
After saying it, she smiled bashfully and leaned her body closer into Si Yu’s embrace. “Can you make it?”
Si Yu raised an eyebrow and deliberately rolled up her sleeves. “Easy. I’m someone people have started calling a master chef!”
She opened the door. The layout of the villa hadn’t changed, and there was no one else inside. After Si Yu placed an order online, she began rummaging through the existing items in the refrigerator. “I occasionally come back here to stay and cook for myself.”
This included her periods of practicing her culinary skills.
Xu Chengjin nodded. She sat cross-legged on the sofa and turned on the TV to find a variety show. “I didn’t expect to eat a meal personally cooked by a CEO today.”
“Then you’d better savor it properly.”
Si Yu did not intend to let Xu Chengjin enter the kitchen. Once the groceries arrived, she began her busy work. After the kitchen door closed, only faint sounds could be heard from outside. Though they weren’t clear, they brought a sense of peace to her heart.
Xu Chengjin was exhausted. She had been watching the variety show, but as she watched, she couldn’t help but close her eyes. Eventually, she curled up on the sofa and fell asleep, casually pulling a blanket over herself, feeling no tension at all.
When Si Yu finished cooking and stepped out, she immediately saw the sleeping Xu Chengjin. She lightened her steps and walked over, looking down at the sleeping girl with downcast eyes. “Xiao Jin.”
Si Yu walked to the front of the sofa and crouched down. She took Xu Chengjin’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Time to eat. Sleep after you’ve eaten.”
Xu Chengjin wasn’t in a very deep sleep and woke up shortly after. She was still groggy upon waking, remaining in a state of dazed confusion until she was half-embraced into a sitting position. Only then did she clear her head a bit. “Si Yu.”
“Mm.”
Si Yu pulled Xu Chengjin into her arms, and the two of them sat together on the sofa. She asked with a hint of a smile, “Are you awake?”
“No.”
Xu Chengjin let out a yawn. “How long was I asleep?”
“Less than an hour.” Si Yu massaged Xu Chengjin’s waist and said softly, “It’s time to get up and eat. The medicine is brewing; it should be ready to drink right after dinner.”
“Okay.” Xu Chengjin rested her head on Si Yu’s shoulder and held Si Yu’s hand, letting out a soft hum. “Don’t rub there, it tickles a bit.”
“You don’t like it?” Si Yu carefully kissed Xu Chengjin’s earlobe. Seeing no reaction, she wanted to nibble it, but she was timely blocked by Xu Chengjin. Her lower abdomen was held back by the other’s hand, preventing her from moving any further.
Si Yu wasn’t annoyed by the rejection; instead, she looked on beaming. “Why won’t you answer?”
Xu Chengjin shot her a slight glare, but she was clearly not resistant. She let go of her hand. Currently, they were sitting face-to-face, her two legs able to clasp around Si Yu’s waist. She leaned her body back, and her top rode up slightly. “I said I don’t like it.”
“I don’t believe you.”
Si Yu immediately refuted Xu Chengjin’s words. She lifted her body slightly and then pressed down. “Speak.”
“I’m hungry.”
Xu Chengjin wasn’t afraid of Si Yu at all. She exhaled. “I want to go eat.”
Si Yu laughed out of frustration. She nodded, restrained herself, and pulled Xu Chengjin up. “Let’s go.”
That evening, Si Yu prepared three dishes and a soup: braised chicken wings, tomato and scrambled eggs, and a dish of stir-fried potatoes and carrots, along with a bowl of seaweed and egg drop soup. She was truly a down-to-earth CEO.
Xu Chengjin was somewhat surprised. “I thought you would make some kind of exotic delicacies.”
She took a bite to taste it. The flavor was good. Xu Chengjin’s eyes lit up. “It’s delicious.”
Only upon hearing this praise did Si Yu feel at ease. She said warmly, “Home-cooked food is fine too. I can’t manage those overly expensive dishes; we’ll go to a restaurant for those later.”
Xu Chengjin nodded. “That makes sense. After dinner, send me back to school.”
“Sure.” Si Yu had no objection; it wasn’t safe to go back too late anyway. “I’ll take you out to play this weekend. Want to go?”
“Aren’t you busy?” Xu Chengjin took another sip of soup. “My sister is always incredibly busy.”
“I am busy,” Si Yu admitted truthfully, her eyes crinkling. “Come play at my company.”
“Play?”
Xu Chengjin gave a short laugh. “If I go to your company, it’ll easily spark unnecessary rumors—something like ‘Xu Chengjin and the Chairman of the Si Group have unspeakable secrets.'”
“Or perhaps that I’m trying to curry favor with you.”
Xu Chengjin put down her chopsticks and sighed. “In what capacity would I go?”
Si Yu was about to speak but was interrupted by Xu Chengjin. She heard Xu Chengjin say, “Today Jin Xi asked me if I would enter an arranged marriage. I used to think it was unnecessary, but I’ve changed my mind now.”
“President Si, if you have any good candidates, you can introduce them to me.”
Xu Chengjin took a sip of soup, raised her eyes, and said word for word:
“So that I can get to know them properly.”
