- The Sickly Fake Daughter, But a Beloved Darling of All
- Chapter 50 - She is Your Biological Sister
Wu Bora had never seen Xu Chengjin look like this before. Blood was still continuously dripping from her lips, yet her eyes were strangely vacant, as if she truly didn’t understand what had happened.
“I’m taking you to the hospital.”
Wu Bora finally snapped back to reality. She immediately dropped the things in her hand, quickly walked over, and picked Xu Chengjin up: “It’s okay, I’m taking you to the hospital. We’ll be there soon.”
In reality, her hands and legs were trembling—
Wu Bora’s steps were quick; she was afraid something might happen to Xu Chengjin. As they went downstairs, the dorm manager instinctively tried to stop them: “Going out so late… Oh my, what happened to this child?”
“It’s nothing, I need to take her to the hospital first!”
Xu Chengjin had completely fainted, lying softly in Wu Bora’s arms, quiet like a broken porcelain doll, a shocking sight.
Wu Bora first called the hospital, briefly explaining Xu Chengjin’s condition before driving there. She could barely maintain her sanity. She also took out Xu Chengjin’s phone. Just as the car started, the phone suddenly rang. Wu Bora answered without thinking: “Is this Xu Jing?”
She didn’t have the contact information for the Xu family and planned to ask her parents for it after getting Xu Chengjin to the hospital.
“No, I’m Si Yu.”
Si Yu had just gotten home. She was relaxing on the sofa, thinking about the expressions of Xu Chengjin and Xu Jing earlier. Still worried, she decided to call, but she was surprised that Wu Bora answered.
“Xu Chengjin fainted.”
Every syllable Wu Bora spoke was trembling. She pursed her lips and took a deep breath: “She got out of the car first. I drove Jinxi back, and when I returned to the dorm… there was so much blood. She threw up so much blood!”
Towards the end, she was on the verge of tears, but Wu Bora knew she couldn’t cry. She fought back her tears: “Please help me contact someone from her family.”
Si Yu’s voice was steady, which was reassuring: “Don’t panic. Which hospital are you going to now?”
Wu Bora gave a name: “I called the hospital.”
“Give me your license plate number. I’ll talk to the traffic department. I’ll rush over soon and call Xu Jing. What you need to do now is get to the hospital safely, okay?”
“Okay.”
Wu Bora hadn’t experienced anything like this before. She immediately agreed: “I will.”
Si Yu acknowledged with an “Mm,” and said steadily: “Don’t be afraid.”
“I’ll be there right away.”
“Her condition must be taken seriously!”
“During this time… regarding her emotions… don’t let her have too much emotional fluctuation… rest well during this period.”
“…”
Muffled voices echoed in Xu Chengjin’s ears. She seemed to hear her own breathing, one heavy breath after another.
Xu Chengjin struggled to open her eyes. The first thing she saw was a field of stark white. She seemed to be back in the hospital.
“You’re awake.”
Xu Jing’s voice was particularly hoarse. She stood up and looked at Xu Chengjin, her eyes puffy with barely concealed redness, and her face seemed slightly bruised: “The doctor said it’s good that you’re awake.”
Xu Chengjin blinked. She couldn’t speak at all and could only stare blankly at Xu Jing.
Last night, when Xu Jing received Si Yu’s call, she nearly collapsed. By the time she arrived at the hospital with Father Xu and Mother Xu, Xu Chengjin had already been rushed into surgery. They only saw Si Yu and Wu Bora waiting outside.
The bloodstains on Wu Bora hadn’t been wiped clean. She sat on a chair nearby, crying, clearly terrified. Si Yu stood silently, looking at the door of the operating room, and didn’t speak when they arrived.
“How is Xiaojin?”
Mother Xu stumbled to Wu Bora’s side, her eyes turning red: “What happened?”
“I don’t know either.”
Wu Bora clutched her hair, looking at the dried blood on her hands. A sense of collapse welled up inside her: “She told me she was leaving, and I could tell she wasn’t feeling well. Then I drove them back. She got out of the car first, saying she could walk back to the dorm herself, and told me to take Jinxi home. I felt like something was wrong at the time… but I still took Jinxi home. When I got back to the dorm…”
Wu Bora choked up. She turned her head and bit her lip: “She was covered in blood. Her hands, her clothes, everywhere.”
“Was she already feeling unwell during the banquet in the evening?”
Mother Xu looked up at Xu Jing: “Didn’t you go find your sister?”
“I…”
Xu Jing couldn’t say a word. She was too timid. If she had followed her then, maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
“It’s my fault.”
Xu Jing lowered her head, her eyes filled with self-reproach, and her voice was filled with unconcealed sadness: “If I had followed her then.”
As soon as she finished speaking, someone suddenly grabbed her collar. The next second, a sharp pain shot across her face, and her vision was momentarily skewed. Xu Jing was stunned. She turned her head in disbelief: “Si Yu, what are you doing?”
“You know better than I do why this happened.”
Si Yu withdrew her hand. She turned to Father and Mother Xu and said, “I apologize.” “I couldn’t control myself. I’m sorry.”
Mother Xu finally came to her senses. She immediately went to check Xu Jing’s injury, but she didn’t say much, only gently: “You should go back first. I will contact you when Xiaojin is out.”
“Okay.”
Si Yu didn’t refuse. She turned and left, seemingly without any hesitation.
Wu Bora, sitting by, was also at a loss. She lowered her head, interlocking her hands and nervously rubbing them. She didn’t know when Xu Chengjin would wake up, and she knew her presence might disturb the Xu family, but she… wanted to wait until Xu Chengjin came out.
“Good child.” Mother Xu gently stroked Wu Bora’s head. She said softly, “Thank you for your trouble today. You should go back. I will let you know if there’s any news.”
“I—”
Wu Bora looked up, wanting to say something, but after a careful thought, she stood up. As she left, she still looked back reluctantly: “You must tell me!”
“Don’t worry.”
Mother Xu forced a smile. After seeing Wu Bora and Si Yu leave, she turned around to face Xu Jing.
Her eldest daughter, the child she had raised for so long.
“Xu Jing.”
Mother Xu’s face was devoid of a smile now. She slowly walked toward Xu Jing. Xu Jing was actually quite a bit taller than her, but her presence was in no way weaker than her daughter’s.
“Xiao jin is still in surgery. I don’t want to say much to you.”
Mother Xu raised her hand and gently stroked Xu Jing’s wound. There was both affection and cruelty in her eyes: “But I hope you understand—”
“Xu Chengjin is your biological sister.”
