- Chapter 116 - The Truth (Part V)
Xu Lihua’s voice was neither heavy nor light, just loud enough for Xu Chengjin to hear. The meaning of her words wasn’t entirely clear either. Xu Chengjin narrowed her eyes and looked over; she remained silent for a few seconds without uttering a word, but she secretly grew wary. It would be difficult to handle if Xu Lihua did something irrational.
“Morning.”
Mother Xu was the first to come downstairs, appearing in high spirits. On the other side, Father Xu came down via the elevator. “The two of you are up this early?”
Xu Lihua swirled the cup in her hand and curled her lips into a smile. “Jet lag.”
“How long do you plan on staying back this time?”
Mother Xu asked casually as she pulled out a chair and sat down. It was almost time; Jin Xi and Xu Jing should be coming down shortly.
“About ten days to half a month. I have matters waiting for me to handle back overseas.” Xu Lihua sat down as well. She patted the seat beside her, turned her head, and smiled at Xu Chengjin. “Xiaojin, come sit here by your aunt.”
Xu Chengjin looked over, a smile on her face. “No thanks, I’ll just have some bread for breakfast.”
Occasionally, she wouldn’t eat a full breakfast; some bread and milk were enough. If she ate too much, she would feel uncomfortable.
“Mom will peel an egg for you.”
Mother Xu peeled an egg and placed it in Xu Chengjin’s bowl. Just as she finished, the other two came downstairs. Jin Xi sat on the sofa looking exhausted. “I think I’ve caught a cold.”
Xu Chengjin was momentarily dazed. She silently moved a bit further away from Jin Xi. She couldn’t afford to catch a cold right now; otherwise, it would be much harder to deal with than for a normal person.
“You really should stay away from me.” Jin Xi sat at the dining table looking depressed, her voice sounding muffled. “Are we heading back right after we finish eating?”
“Yes, take some medicine in a bit.”
Mother Xu also looked at Jin Xi with concern. “Go to the hospital for a check-up after today’s events are over. A cold is nothing to be trifled with.”
“Okay.”
Jin Xi agreed obediently. No one else noticed the gaze Xu Chengjin cast toward them.
The Xu family arrived at the venue very early to have their makeup done. The location chosen this time was a manor in the suburbs. It was quite different from the manor under Si Yu’s name; while the scenery here was notably more elevated, it wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing as Si Yu’s, both inside and out.
“Little sister, you are truly beautiful.”
The makeup artist praised Xu Chengjin non-stop while applying her makeup. Her look wasn’t heavy; it was more like a light base had been applied, making her makeup appear as pure as “plain water.”
Xu Chengjin changed into a white formal dress and began sending a message to Si Yu: [Have you arrived?]
[Turn around.]
The moment Si Yu’s message came through, Xu Chengjin immediately turned her head. She locked eyes with the other woman, who was looking her way. Today, Si Yu was wearing a formal outfit. Unlike Xu Chengjin, who was in a dress, Si Yu wore a set featuring long sleeves and trousers.
Though Xu Chengjin was standing a bit far away, she could still clearly see the exquisite patterns on Si Yu’s top, not to mention how much the cut of the outfit accentuated Si Yu’s waistline…
“When did you arrive?”
Xu Chengjin stood up and walked toward Si Yu. Her outfit today was quite light, so she didn’t feel weighed down. “Have you eaten?”
“I have.” Si Yu took Xu Chengjin’s hand. She studied Xu Chengjin’s makeup carefully today and couldn’t help but curl her lips. Truly, her wife’s countenance was a lover’s glory.
“Do I look good?”
Xu Chengjin spun in a circle. “How is it?”
“You look beautiful.”
The smile on Si Yu’s face never faded. Just as she was about to praise Xu Chengjin further, she was interrupted.
“Xiaojin.”
Xu Lihua appeared beside them, her expression somewhat subtle. “Are you two—”
“A couple?”
