Xu Chengjin felt as though she had been trapped in a long dream. She seemed to be confined within a cage, surrounded on all sides by black mist. No matter how hard she tried, she could not run out. In the end, she could only sit helplessly on the ground, attempting to catch a glimpse of a single ray of light.

“Don’t!”

Xu Chengjin snapped her eyes open, but her vision was still misty. It was no longer pure darkness, but rather a hazy, ethereal sensation; she still could not see anything at all.

Xu Chengjin called out softly. She listened intently to the movements around her. After hearing no sound of footsteps, she raised her voice directly: “Speak!”

Xu Chengjin shouted again. Seeing that there was still no answer, she immediately began to tug at the chain on her wrist. She used a great deal of force, possessing an aura that suggested: if you ignore me, I will escape even if I have to injure myself.

In her heart, she wasn’t sure if anyone was actually there, but Xu Chengjin did not stop the movements of her hands. She gritted her teeth and pulled at the chain on her wrist; even if it hurt, even if she felt her skin being chafed raw, she remained tight-lipped and continued to pull.

Xu Jing found it somewhat humorous. She slowly stood up and looked at Xu Chengjin: “Xiaojin, I am your elder sister. Isn’t it only natural for me to stay by your side?”

“Xu Jing!”

Xu Chengjin felt that she was simply being unreasonable: “We are not biological sisters! You cannot restrict my personal freedom!”

“How are we not!”
