The Sickly Beauty Beta Got Pregnant After A Political Marriage - Chapter 12
Shen Jiayu never imagined that Wen Xiuheng would specially prepare a yacht for his birthday.
After leaving the shore, Wen Xiuheng led him onto a massive white yacht. The vessel cut through the waves, heading out to the open sea and then toward the return journey. It was equipped with every amenity and piece of gear needed for leisure and entertainment. For Shen Jiayu’s birthday, Wen Xiuheng had even specially commissioned a chef who catered perfectly to his personal tastes.
After the birthday banquet, Shen Jiayu stepped onto the deck, filled with anticipation.
The weather that day was exceptionally clear. The hull cleaved through the azure seawater, leaving a trail of white foam in its wake. Seagulls circled and soared behind the stern, some of them perhaps the very same ones Shen Jiayu had fed earlier.
To the left and right of the yacht, Shen Jiayu thought he caught a glimpse of black dorsal fins in the water.
Dolphins!
Shen Jiayu gripped the railing with both hands, leaning over to look.
Sure enough, a dolphin followed the yacht, leaping out of the water. Soon after, several others appeared nearby. They chased the boat, jumping in succession as if they were greeting Shen Jiayu.
With eyes curved in a smile, Shen Jiayu waved back at them.
With the deep blue sea behind him and seagulls wheeling overhead, Shen Jiayu stood tall and took a deep breath, feeling the oncoming sea breeze brush against his cheeks. This was the most free and relaxed he had felt in months.
Involuntarily, the youth faced the wind, closed his eyes, and spread his arms wide, feeling the essence of the world flow through his body at that moment.
The sound of the wind, the crashing of the spray, the cries of the gulls, and the clicks of the dolphins converged in his ears, so real and vivid, like a composed melody.
Shen Jiayu moved gently and without restraint, swaying his body to the rhythm, letting his hair fly wildly in the wind. He was the picture of freedom and romance.
He didn’t notice Wen Xiuheng walking out of the cabin behind him.
Wen Xiuheng didn’t call out to him. The man simply stood silently behind him, unwilling to disturb him, quietly watching his “little friend” dance casually.
This was the first time he had seen Shen Jiayu dance. Of course, the man stubbornly insisted on calling it a dance. Even though it was messy, spontaneous, and lacked any formal pattern, Wen Xiuheng still considered it a dance.
When he first met Shen Jiayu, he felt that his little friend was like a rose, slender, fragile, and sensitive. But the “little rose” now was also free, romantic, and sincere.
No rose can stay young forever, but Wen Xiuheng hoped his rose could bloom forever without a care in the world. For this, he was willing to sacrifice precious things to nurture his rose.
This was the proof of his heart fluttering for the rose.
That day on the sea, Wen Xiuheng watched Shen Jiayu dance for a long time. He thought he might not have many chances to see it again, until one day after they returned home, when he arrived back early and witnessed a scene in the kitchen.
That day, after school, Shen Jiayu had gone to the hospital to visit his father as usual. He heard from his mother that his father’s condition had improved, he had shown some reaction to external sounds, and the doctor said the possibility of him waking up had increased. That day, holding his father’s hand, Shen Jiayu’s eyes had reddened with joy.
Upon returning home, Shen Jiayu changed into loungewear and proactively helped Auntie Cui with dinner, assisting with simple tasks like washing vegetables.
Taking advantage of a moment when Auntie Cui stepped out, Shen Jiayu checked the simmering soup, which was emitting a wonderful aroma. In his high spirits, he unconsciously began to hum a song.
Following the humming, Shen Jiayu occasionally swayed his body gently. Again, his movements were unrestrained and lacked any specific pattern.
In truth, Shen Jiayu only dared to act like this when no one was around. He had been physically uncoordinated since childhood and believed he had zero talent for dancing. Whenever there were school performances, he was always the one silently playing a blade of grass, a flower, or a motionless little stone on stage.
If he ever needed to dance properly, he would likely need an extremely patient teacher.
But now, with no one around, Shen Jiayu had no inhibitions and swayed freely.
Little did he know that not far behind him, Wen Xiuheng, dressed in a suit, had quietly curled his lips into a smile.
He knew Shen Jiayu was easily embarrassed and guessed the boy wouldn’t want anyone to see his casual dancing. Thus, he noiselessly backed up a few steps and then intentionally heavy-handedly stomped his feet, pretending he had just arrived home and hadn’t seen a thing.
As expected, hearing the footsteps, Shen Jiayu instantly froze in place.
Like a startled kitten, Shen Jiayu’s eyes went round. After waiting a few seconds to confirm he hadn’t been seen, he secretly stuck out his tongue. Then, acting as if nothing had happened, he turned around stiffly and murmured obediently, “Mr. Wen, you’re back.”
“Yes, I’m back.” Wen Xiuheng looked down at him, a gentle curve rising on his lips.
During dinner, Shen Jiayu shared the news about his father’s improvement. Seeing the bright smile on the boy’s face, a certain part of Wen Xiuheng’s heart grew soft.
After the meal, Wen Xiuheng proactively brought up a matter. In a month’s time, there would be a business gala. Many figures from the business world and their partners were invited to attend. Wen Xiuheng asked if he would be willing to go together.
Naturally, Shen Jiayu would not refuse. He knew that as the head of the Wen Group, it was common for Mr. Wen to attend such commercial banquets. Furthermore, as his partner, accompanying him when needed was a necessary duty.
Seeing that he agreed, Wen Xiuheng continued, explaining that the gala required every invited guest and their partner to perform a waltz together as the opening dance. He asked Shen Jiayu if he was willing to dance this piece with him.
Shen Jiayu immediately lifted his eyes in panic, stammering, “D-dance…?”
Shen Jiayu’s small face turned visibly red. “I don’t really know how… but I can learn. C-can you find someone to teach me…?”
Seeing him like this, Wen Xiuheng’s heart softened further. He gently placed a hand on the youth’s head, his voice filled with patience and tenderness: “I will teach you.”
Shen Jiayu’s eyes snapped wide. “You’re going to teach me…?”
Wen Xiuheng let out a low chuckle, his palm slowly moving from the top of the head to the boy’s cheek, stroking it gently. “Yes, I will teach you.”
“Then… I might be a slow learner, please don’t be angry…” Shen Jiayu murmured cautiously.
Wen Xiuheng’s voice was tinged with doting and a hint of helplessness. “It’s alright. We’ll take it slow.”
Shen Jiayu nodded somewhat hesitantly. “Okay…”
Still worried he wouldn’t learn well enough, Shen Jiayu suggested that very night that they start learning immediately.
Of course, Wen Xiuheng wouldn’t refuse him. Watching the boy look up at him with pursed lips and a serious expression, Wen Xiuheng’s gaze unconsciously fell on those pale cherry-colored lips. He said hoarsely, “Of course.”
Shen Jiayu was wearing loose loungewear and slippers. Looking at the man in front of him, who had taken off his suit jacket and was now in a black shirt and tie, he asked bashfully if he should change clothes first.
Wen Xiuheng simply said in a low voice that it didn’t matter.
Shen Jiayu nodded obediently and, with a mix of seriousness and nervousness, said he was ready to begin.
Wen Xiuheng looked down at him, one hand loosening his tie. He asked in a deep, magnetic voice:
“When dancing, is it okay if I hold your waist?”
