- The Seductive Wife Kisses and Teases While His Black-Bellied Childhood Friend Spoils Him Crazy
- Chapter 26 - I Am Dead Today!
Upon returning home, Jiang Ningxun and Song Shidu stood silently before the mangled remains of their front door. Song Shidu, expressionless, stepped forward to rattle the lock before muttering a single complaint, “Piece of junk.”
Jiang Ningxun’s composure shattered instantly. He burst into laughter and half-embraced the man to comfort him. “Oh, you are blaming the door now? No door could withstand a lunatic like that. Do not be unhappy. We will rest for the afternoon and then go find a new place to live, okay? Please? Give me a smile.”
He used his fingers to tug at the corners of Song Shidu’s mouth, forcing a crooked, awkward smile. Song Shidu’s brow was furrowed deeply enough to crush a fly.
“Fine.”
However, shortly after noon, the living arrangements were settled for them.
Don’t Love Just Kill: [You and that wolf boy are going to live at your Eldest Brother’s house.]
Jiang Ningxun, having just woken up, saw the message and bolted upright in shock. He replied immediately, [What? Why?]
Don’t Love Just Kill: [Your business is all over the news! Two psychotic serial killers were thwarted while attempting to kill a fox-type Omega and were rescued by an unknown Good Samaritan. Do you really think I would let you stay there? Go find your Eldest Brother. He recently settled in A City. I have already discussed it with him.]
Jiang Ningxun sent a pleading emoji, [I would rather sleep on the streets than go to Eldest Brother’s place.]
Don’t Love Just Kill: [Then sleep on the streets and fight the dogs for food. Do not call yourself my child.]
After that, no matter how much Jiang Ningxun tried to negotiate, Lin Du ignored him. What a domineering father!
Jiang Ningxun spent some time anxiously biting his fingernails and scratching his messy hair before finally working up the courage to find the contact labeled Eldest Brother. The last time he had spoken to his Eldest Brother was six years ago, before the family had split up.
On WeChat, Jiang Ningxun wrote: [Eldest Brother, are you there?]
Eldest Brother: [Speak.]
Jiang Ningxun: [My game console fell into the water tank. I cannot get it out.]
Then, his Eldest Brother had emerged from his bedroom. Back then, Jiang Ningxun had been huddled in the corner of the sofa, shivering and too afraid to make a sound. There they were, relatives separated only by a wall, yet communicating via WeChat.
At that time, his Eldest Brother did not even spare Jiang Ningxun a glance. He looked at the water tank and saw the game console inside. The next second, he smashed it with a punch.
Shatter!
The tank broke, water flooded the floor, and the game console slid out with the current. Afterward, his Eldest Brother returned to his room without a word and locked the door. Consequently, while Jiang Ningxun got his console back, he was forced to take on the job of mopping up the water!
This Eldest Brother was named Lin Wang, taking Lin Du’s surname. He was the first child Lin Du had before marrying his other father, and he was about three or four years older than Jiang Ningxun. Unfortunately, he had a solitary and forceful personality. Jiang Ningxun normally did not dare speak much to him; he would rather spend a whole day with Song Shidu than a single second with Lin Wang.
Strangely enough, out of the four children in the family, Lin Du doted on Jiang Ningxun and the other two while treating his eldest son with an odd indifference. Sometimes he acted as if Lin Wang did not exist, and he rarely bothered to call him for dinner. Under such circumstances, it was inevitable that Lin Wang would develop a reclusive temperament. Normally, the only time Jiang Ningxun saw him was during the New Year, and he usually left immediately after eating. Now, being forced to live with him was more uncomfortable than being killed.
At that moment, Song Shidu woke up. He sat up and wrapped his arms around Jiang Ningxun’s waist, resting his head on his shoulder. He glanced at the phone screen. “What are you looking at so intently?”
Jiang Ningxun said solemnly, “Shidu, we are about to face a trial.”
“?”
“My dad wants us to stay at my Eldest Brother’s house.”
The expression on Song Shidu’s face instantly became a mirror of Jiang Ningxun’s: miserable.
The scene shifted. Under a clear sky, they arrived at a small courtyard house. The entrance was swept clean, and the festive red gate had recently been repainted. Jiang Ningxun swallowed hard as he looked at the house and then at the neatly dressed Song Shidu beside him.
“I will go in first to test the waters. You hurry and buy some beef, mutton, or something as a gift! Come in and save me in a little while!”
Song Shidu nodded. The two looked at each other with lingering affection, as if they were heading to their deaths.
A moment later, the gate opened. A thick, powerful arm reached out from within and grabbed Jiang Ningxun’s collar, yanking him inside. “Hey, Big!”
Bang! The gate slammed shut.
Song Shidu was startled. He wanted to knock, but remembering his mission, he rushed off to go shopping. Only by buying meat could he ransom his wife!
Inside was a large traditional courtyard house. Rooms were arranged neatly around the perimeter. The main hall was tall and spacious, featuring upturned eaves and painted rafters. The interior decor was simple yet elegant, with old-fashioned furniture emitting a faint scent of wood. The east and west wing rooms stood opposite each other, their window frames decorated with exquisite wood carvings.
In the center of the courtyard stood a well-kept ginkgo tree. Golden leaves carpeted the ground, making the gray bricks look as if they were plated in gold. Jiang Ningxun stood there as timidly as a quail. His fox ears drooped listlessly, and he looked at the man before him with innocent eyes.
“B-Big Brother, good afternoon.”
“Mhm.”
Standing before him was a man in a black undershirt, nearly two meters tall. This was Lin Wang. Having inherited Lin Du’s genes, he was a Black Fox Alpha. His bulging muscles were clearly defined, resembling a meticulously carved marble statue. When he tensed his thick arms, the veins bulged, suggesting a source of endless power that could crush any obstacle with a single swing. Unlike Song Shidu’s balanced and fit physique, which was the type young girls preferred, Lin Wang was the type of man who looked like he could kill someone with one punch.
Yet, he was incredibly handsome, with sharp sword-like brows that slanted into his hairline. He cast a cold, indifferent glance at his younger brother. He began wrapping bandages around his fists before stepping forward with a steady, heavy gait that felt as though it carried the weight of thunder.
He said, “Come. Fight me.”
“???”
Jiang Ningxun felt as if he had been struck by lightning. He froze completely. He scrambled backward, shouting, “B-B-Big Brother! I do not want to die yet!”
Lin Wang frowned. “Let me see how much progress you have made these past few years. With such thin arms and legs, no wonder you were targeted by killers.”
At this moment, he only knew that Jiang Ningxun had been in danger; he did not realize he had differentiated into an Omega. He still considered him a mediocre Beta. Without further talk, he decisively threw a punch.
Jiang Ningxun hurriedly ducked to avoid the strike and began running around the courtyard, crying out miserably, “Good Brother! I really cannot beat you!”
He thought, “One hit from you could take half my life!”
“Tch. Get down here!”
Jiang Ningxun was agile. He scrambled up the ginkgo tree and hugged a large branch, refusing to come down. He shook his head wildly. “No! I am not coming down! Not unless you stop hitting me!”
“Trying to train you is like trying to take your life,” Lin Wang said, sounding quite angry.
Jiang Ningxun thought, “But you literally are trying to take my life.”
Fortunately, a frantic knocking sounded from the gate.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Jiang Ningxun’s eyes lit up. Song Shidu had come to save him! However, Lin Wang had no intention of opening the door. Instead, he approached the tree, looking as though he intended to climb up and drag Jiang Ningxun down. Jiang Ningxun could only climb higher.
After another moment of urgent knocking, the sound stopped. Then, a head popped up over the wall. Song Shidu had actually climbed over! He dropped down with a thud, stumbled a few steps, and looked up, shouting, “Ningxun!”
The next moment, a massive figure blocked his path. Lin Wang glared at him like a black panther.
Song Shidu’s throat bobbed slightly. “Good afternoon, Big Brother.”
