The Security Guard Who Won the Heart of the Unattainable Actress - Chapter 30.2
Chapter 30.2
“I’m leaving with my suitcase,” Li Guang said. “If Teacher Hua Yuzhi absolutely has to have instant noodles, then… give it to her. I’ll be on standby with the staff; you can find me if you need anything.”
“I won’t. What could I possibly need?” Ran Mingyue said. “Go on, you should rest too.”
“Okay, Sister Mingyue.” But as soon as Li Guang left and the door closed, Ran Mingyue was in the room, out of breath.
She had only wanted to check on Li Guang, to see if what happened two years ago was related to her fear of fire.
How did it turn into this? She couldn’t calm down.
Li Guang pushed her suitcase out, glad she didn’t run into anyone else. Otherwise, if someone asked why she was taking Ran Mingyue’s suitcase, she would have been speechless.
The crew’s rules were that the guests had to make their own dinner in the villa. Li Guang realized that Hua Yuzhi seemed to really like instant noodles and other instant foods. These celebrities were probably used to being waited on hand and foot. Maybe these instant foods could be useful later.
So she changed her mind. She had planned to take the box to the security office, but she ended up putting it in the staff’s RV. She’d take it back after her shift was officially over, just in case.
Her shift ended at 9:30 p.m. Li Guang had wanted to take advantage of the free time to grab dinner at the cafeteria, but thinking about the long, fruitless conversation with Ran Mingyue made her feel uneasy. That feeling of being blocked up inside came back.
Just as she put her suitcase in the car and got out, a figure darted over.
“Li Guang!” Ji Yuan suddenly appeared in front of Li Guang, looking immaculate, with his makeup and hair done. He asked Li Guang, puzzled, “What’s… why haven’t you gotten yourself together yet? Did you come out of a coal pile? Did the crew really make you go into a fire?”
Ji Yuan had watched the live stream and saw that Li Guang’s clothes were burned.
“Why are you here?”
“Didn’t I tell you? I’m here to shoot an ad for that bunny suit company,” Ji Yuan said, following Li Guang. “I texted you last night. Didn’t you see it?”
To make it in time for the year-end promotions, the company had told Ji Yuan they urgently needed promotional photos and for him to shoot them as soon as possible.
“I didn’t,” Li Guang said. She had forgotten. She had been busy all day and hadn’t looked at her phone at all.
Ji Yuan’s timing was a coincidence; it was currently the staff’s break time.
When she was an artist, her days were never this packed. Li Guang felt so tired that she wanted to go on strike for the first time. “How about another day? I don’t feel like it today.”
Ji Yuan said, “One day earlier is an extra ten thousand yuan, the boss said.”
“Let’s go, where are we shooting? We’ll shoot now.” Hearing that, Li Guang’s energy returned. “Why didn’t you say that earlier? I would have worked with you last night. Can we just find any location?”
“…You’re in that much of a hurry? Money-grubber. I can see gold ingots in your eyes,” Ji Yuan said.
Li Guang said, “Of course. I want to earn more money and then live my carefree life.” First, earn a lot of money, finish this variety show, and then get a promotion to security team captain. Li Guang couldn’t imagine how happy she would be then.
All her fatigue had disappeared. Li Guang now had an endless supply of energy.
“Your popularity is really great. Have you thought about making a comeback? You don’t have to act; you could do variety shows. When I brought my people in just now and mentioned your name, they were happy to let me in. You’re something else.” Ji Yuan went into the villa with Li Guang and quickly greeted the other staff. “I brought a photographer and a makeup artist. We haven’t found a suitable location yet.”
“But when I came, I asked your assistant director, who’s so easygoing. She said the guests are resting now, and if we’re okay with it, we can shoot right here at the main camp.”
“No!” Li Guang immediately refused. “Do you want everyone to watch?”
He wasn’t considering what they were shooting: a suggestive ad! It was a furry little bunny suit.
She wouldn’t have to show her face, but the resting guests would be startled by Ji Yuan’s provocative style!
“I’m fine with it,” Ji Yuan said proudly, very confident in his physique. He was happy to show it off. “This is how I make money. Look, isn’t the living room perfect? You can sit here, and I’ll just stand behind you.”
Li Guang glanced at the spot Ji Yuan chose, and her heart almost stopped. Because Ji Yuan’s chosen spot was exactly where Ran Mingyue had been sitting.
No way. Li Guang couldn’t imagine herself in that outfit, making a suggestive ad in the same place where Ran Mingyue had sat…
For some reason, the bunny girl outfit from that small room came into her mind, along with that unspeakable souvenir.
A bunny tail, a plug.
“No, we can’t do it here. We can be in the villa, but it has to be in a closed-off area.” Li Guang saw that the stylists had a lot of luggage and said, “How about this? You guys wait here, and Ji Yuan and I will go up and see if there are any empty rooms we can use.”
Ji Yuan mumbled, “We’re just making money. If it really doesn’t work, we can just do it in the living room. We can just finish quickly to placate the client and change it tomorrow. We can still earn today’s early-payment fee.”
“Do you have no principles?” Li Guang said. “It’s so much money! We should do a good job! Shooting in the living room would affect the crew too much. What if we’re not done when the crew turns the cameras on? You can’t possibly expect the crew to wait for you, right?”
Ji Yuan thought about it and agreed. “I was just worried it would be hard for you to find a place. Even though you’re a staff member, we don’t have to be that meticulous with this job. You know, the company mainly wants promotional photos of you in that outfit. I’m just the supporting character. Do you get it? With your figure, you’d look good even if you were taking pictures next to a trash can!”
Look at Li Guang now. Her inner jacket had two holes burned in it, and she was wearing a colleague’s jacket that was a completely different size, but Li Guang pulled it off. The clothes had her own style on her. Li Guang’s face was very innocent, but she could handle the clothes perfectly. She excelled in her lively and round eyes, and the rest of her features were refined and elegant.
They complemented each other, allowing her to handle a variety of styles.
Ji Yuan was truly envious of Li Guang’s face. It was strange that with a face like Li Guang’s, she wasn’t famous, and she had left the industry.
It proved that people with such great physical qualities, even if they left the industry, would be discovered inadvertently. Just like this time, wasn’t Li Guang noticed by the manufacturer to shoot an ad with him?
Li Guang herself didn’t seem to feel that her appearance and style were unique in the entertainment industry.
In the eyes of the public, beauty was no longer rare. Having a special, irreplaceable kind of beauty was the secret to long-lasting success.
Just like Ran Mingyue, her appearance and acting skills were unique in the industry, so her achievements were also unique.
With a work task, Li Guang could temporarily forget about her and Ran Mingyue’s issues. She took Ji Yuan upstairs to find a room. This large villa, which the crew had rented as a long-term base, should have some empty rooms.
But unexpectedly, this crew was not ordinary at all.
The second floor was full; there were no empty rooms. Li Guang hesitated, afraid of running into Ran Mingyue, but finally bit the bullet and went up to the third floor.
The third floor was also full; the crew had arranged the guests perfectly! It was still raining now, so they couldn’t shoot on the terrace.
No way, did they really have to shoot in the living room?
Li Guang refused.
When she came up, Li Guang glanced at the room she had just been in. The door was closed, just as it had been when she left.
Ran Mingyue was quiet.
“Should we shoot in the living room?” Ji Yuan said. “Come on, let’s just shoot in the living room. Are you afraid of others seeing? We’ve all been in the industry before. Don’t tell me you have camera anxiety now.”
“I do now,” Li Guang said. “Don’t shoot in the living room. It’s a public area, and the guests will be coming down later.”
Li Guang also heard that Jiang Qiaoye was planning to do a live stream in the afternoon or evening. Live streams are the most prone to accidents. What if they saw them shooting? With Jiang Qiaoye’s loud personality, how would that go?
Li Guang thought about it and felt it was a terrible idea.
“I can carry things, I can set things up. You can treat me like a worker. We can set up a tent on the terrace. I know the crew has some ready-made tents.” Li Guang was practically begging. “How’s that?”
Ji Yuan said, “Not great. Let’s just shoot indoors. We don’t need to do anything else. Indoors is obviously more convenient. Or, we can ask one of the guests here to lend us a room? Who are you closer to?”
“Me? I’m a staff member.” As soon as he mentioned that, Li Guang couldn’t help but feel guilty. “We’ve only filmed two episodes. I’m still…”
“Oh, forget it. If I had the guts, I’d go ask Teacher Ran if she could help us. We were classmates after all. She’s a big deal. Finding a suitable shooting location would be a piece of cake for her,” Ji Yuan said. “I’m embarrassed to ask you to go. Just meeting Teacher Ran in the elevator last time scared you that much. I can’t count on you.”
Li Guang: “…Yeah, that’s right.”
Ji Yuan said, “How about this? I’ll bite the bullet and go find Brother Ye? I filmed a show with him before and played games with him. He’s the one I’m most familiar with here.”
“No!” Li Guang instinctively refused without thinking. Could there be a more normal person?
Ji Yuan glared at her in feigned anger. “Enough! Why is everything ‘no’? Are you enemies with both Teacher Ran and Jiang Qiaoye?”
Li Guang felt like crying, but she had to think of a solution quickly.
“Enemies with what?” With that voice, the door opposite Li Guang was pulled open from the inside.
When he saw Ran Mingyue appear, Ji Yuan was so startled that he jumped to Li Guang’s side. “Teacher Ran!”
Anyone else would have thought he had seen a ghost.
“…It’s nothing. Let’s go quickly,” Li Guang said with a forced smile, pulling Ji Yuan to leave. But Ji Yuan had a flash of inspiration. He seized the opportunity and said, “Teacher Ran, can you help us? We have an ad shoot, but we don’t have a location. The client… no, the company is waiting for it.”
Ran Mingyue said, “A clothing ad?”
“Don’t say anything,” Li Guang said, trying to cover Ji Yuan’s mouth, but Ji Yuan was excited. He was a savvy person and saw from Ran Mingyue’s expression that she could definitely help. He immediately nodded. “Yes, yes, a clothing ad.”
A clothing ad.
Ran Mingyue said, “So it’s a clothing ad.”
Li Guang: “…” Hearing Ran Mingyue say that, she couldn’t help but feel shy. What was going on? It was a clothing ad, there was nothing wrong with that!
And, she had just argued with Ran Mingyue. Why would she help her?
It sounded like she was shooting something illicit. Ji Yuan was the one shooting the suggestive ad; she wasn’t!
Li Guang wanted to scream, wanted to roar, but she couldn’t say a single word.
“I have a place you can shoot. Follow me,” Ran Mingyue said. She saw that Li Guang was still standing there and turned back. “Why aren’t you moving? Didn’t you say they’re in a hurry? If you delay, you’ll lose ten thousand yuan.”
That ten thousand yuan woke Li Guang up.
“!!!”
“Teacher Ran, you’re such a good person!” Ji Yuan pulled Li Guang along and motioned for his entire team to follow.
He was still praising her nonstop. “I knew Teacher Ran was a beautiful and kind fairy when we were classmates! Li Guang used to tell me all the time that she liked you the most and that everyone should learn from you.”
Ji Yuan, stop talking nonsense! Are you shameless just for a good shooting location?
“Is that so? She said she liked me the most?” Ran Mingyue actually started talking to Ji Yuan.
Ji Yuan nodded. “Absolutely. Li Guang even used to say Teacher Ran’s name in her dreams!”
Li Guang: “…Ji Yuan.”
Ran Mingyue smiled, a truly happy smile.
The main camp really didn’t have any suitable shooting locations. When Ji Yuan and the others were present, Ran Mingyue and Li Guang acted and spoke normally, silently agreeing not to bring up their previous conflict.
At this point, they could only let Ran Mingyue help.
Ran Mingyue took them to her house, Building 1 in Area A. As soon as they entered the yard, Ji Yuan couldn’t stop praising it, saying how great everything was.
This was Ran Mingyue’s own home, and the other house was rented by the crew for filming. Naturally, there was a fundamental difference.
And Ran Mingyue’s living room was larger and more spacious, with a plain-colored carpet that was more suitable for setting up.
Ji Yuan was about to thank Ran Mingyue’s ancestors.
The props were simple: just a backdrop that could be set up. The two of them would change and pose for the photographer.
Li Guang had never seen such a quick and simple work setup and was a little dazed. She saw Ji Yuan just standing there and asked, “Aren’t you changing?”
“You’re the one who needs to change,” Ji Yuan said, pointing to the area sectioned off by a curtain. “I just have to take off my clothes. Only you need to change.”
Li Guang: ?
Oh, right.
She looked up and saw Ran Mingyue standing next to her, deep in thought. She was probably curious about what clothes she was going to change into.
The prop master took out a bunny ear outfit identical to the one Li Guang had worn before. Ran Mingyue’s face showed a look of sudden realization, as if she was saying, “Oh, it’s that one.”
Li Guang felt her face flush. She quickly grabbed the outfit and pulled the curtain shut.
Ji Yuan: “You don’t have to be in such a hurry! Don’t put the ears on backward!”
Li Guang: “Ji Yuan, don’t say another word!”
She adjusted the clumsy bunny ears. The outfit was brand new but just her size. When she pulled back the curtain, Ran Mingyue’s gaze was fixed on her.
“…Is it strange?” Li Guang fidgeted with her bunny ears. “Sister Mingyue, the shoot will be boring. Are you going to stay here?”
“Can I watch?”
Ji Yuan said, “Of course you can! You’re the one who sponsored our location. You’re our gold sponsor. Why wouldn’t you?”
Li Guang was speechless.
Just then, the prop master approached Ji Yuan awkwardly. “Brother Ji, we’re missing something…”
“We’re about to shoot, and you’re telling me we’re missing a prop? What is it?”
The prop bag was sent directly by the manufacturer. The prop master was very embarrassed. “We’re missing the bunny tail. You can see, the only difference from the picture is that the tail is missing.”
Ji Yuan said, “What are we going to do? We’ve already set up everything. How could we be missing just one tail? The company is rushing us. You can’t possibly expect me to find a bunny tail on the spot! What kind of job is this?”
When the words “bunny tail” were mentioned, Ran Mingyue suddenly thought of something.
“Would a substitute work?” Ran Mingyue asked.
Ji Yuan said, “Where would we find a substitute? A normal person wouldn’t specifically buy a bunny tail to keep at home, would they? Or carry it around with them. That’s so strange.”
Ran Mingyue: “…”
All true.
Ji Yuan suddenly realized something, and his face turned ashen.
“Teacher Ran, don’t tell me you…” Do you have one?
“Li Guang, can you come here for a second?” Ran Mingyue waved for Li Guang to come to her side. “That, can this be a substitute?”
Li Guang was a little slow to react. “Which, which one?”
Ran Mingyue led Li Guang to her walk-in closet and took out her suitcase, the one she had brought back last night.
“The bunny tail, the plug,” Ran Mingyue said with a little hesitation, a rare blush of embarrassment on her ears. “…Will it work?”
Li Guang: “Teacher Ran, you? You? You carry a bunny tail plug… with you!?”
