The Security Guard Who Won the Heart of the Unattainable Actress - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Li Guang held out her arm to Ran Mingyue: “Lean on me?”
Ran Mingyue hadn’t spoken yet. Li Guang thought about it herself and voluntarily hunched over in front of Ran Mingyue: “I’ll carry you on my back.”
With Li Guang’s back to her, the curve of Ran Mingyue’s lips never went away.
The sense of distance she had with other people was gone. In front of Li Guang, she had never felt that distance.
In Ran Mingyue’s eyes, Li Guang was like a little sun. As long as she smiled, it was difficult for Ran Mingyue to remain serious.
She also saw that Li Guang hadn’t even had time to change out of her uniform from filming. She had come so quickly, so how could Ran Mingyue still trouble her?
Li Guang couldn’t see Ran Mingyue’s expression. She just felt that no weight had been put on her back for a long time. Just as she was wondering what was going on, her wrist was pulled.
“Are you silly?” Ran Mingyue pulled her up and told her the truth, “My hand isn’t that serious.”
She and Li Guang walked out of the studio together and headed toward Zone A. They passed the lake again. The warm winter sun shone on the water, creating a sparkling golden light. The small wooden cabin escape room was still standing there, so it seemed it would be used again for the second episode.
“It’s serious,” Li Guang said in a deadpan tone. “Every part of an artist’s body is important, and you have so many times when you have to be on camera.”
Ran Mingyue seemed to be trying to make herself more believable. She put her hand in front of Li Guang to show it to her. “See?”
Ran Mingyue was so fair that even such a small wound was especially noticeable on her translucent skin. Her nails were trimmed to a nice, rounded shape. She didn’t have nail art, they just had a healthy shine.
“It’s still a little red.” Li Guang managed to find a little bit of a lingering red mark on her fair skin. She moved her gaze away from Ran Mingyue’s fingernails. “It’s cold outside, aren’t you afraid of freezing? Put it back in your pocket quickly.”
Ran Mingyue didn’t listen to her. She wanted to tease Li Guang and put her hand in front of her to shake it.
Li Guang became anxious. She gently held Ran Mingyue’s wrist. Her own fingertips naturally wrapped around it. She wanted to put her hand back into her pocket, but she found that Ran Mingyue’s clothes didn’t have pockets.
She was dumbfounded. So just now Ran Mingyue—
Ran Mingyue’s walking also paused, almost revealing the truth.
Li Guang said, “Aren’t you cold?”
Ran Mingyue’s hand was very cold.
Li Guang had a warm body type. She wasn’t cold even in the middle of winter. As long as there were no special circumstances, her hands and feet were warm. She was known as a walking hand warmer.
“I am.” Ran Mingyue silently showed her other hand as well. “Your hands are so warm.”
“I’ll warm them for you.” Li Guang generously pulled Ran Mingyue’s hands over. “Come on.”
“Is this okay?” Ran Mingyue said this but honestly held out her hands, letting Li Guang hold them. “I’m really troubling you.”
“I can only warm this one for now.” Li Guang quickly came up with a good idea. She put one of Ran Mingyue’s hands into her warm pocket to warm it up. “When this one is warm, I’ll warm the other one.”
Ran Mingyue laughed: “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Li Guang also left out one more thing: It’s my duty to serve my resident.
Li Guang only put Ran Mingyue’s hand into her warm pocket. Her own hand was outside. How could she just put her hand in and hold it with Ran Mingyue’s? Although she was just helping Ran Mingyue warm her hands, the distance between them became much closer.
Li Guang looked straight ahead, not moving any part of her body except for walking.
Ran Mingyue was openly looking at Li Guang. For the sake of the show, she was wearing flat running shoes today. Her height was 166 cm, but her gaze still had to be slightly upward.
Li Guang was taller than her, at least 170 cm.
The two were strangely quiet. Li Guang suddenly turned her head. Ran Mingyue was caught off guard by her stare and simply spoke first: “What are you looking at me for?”
“Oh,” Li Guang said again. She blinked twice and remembered what she wanted to show off. “I just wanted to ask if you’re warm now? Everyone always says I’m a walking hand warmer!”
“I am,” Ran Mingyue paused and asked, “Do you often help people warm their hands?”
The hand outside the pocket suddenly squeezed her hand tightly. A second later, it let go.
“Sometimes when my classmates are cold in the winter, they’ll put their hands in mine and I’ll hold them. They’ll get warm in a little while,” Li Guang said. “Come on, switch to the other hand.”
Ran Mingyue walked two steps. “Then why are you keeping me separate with your pocket?”
The hand outside the pocket squeezed tightly again. This time it was for two seconds. Li Guang let go again. She didn’t even realize that her hand was tightening and loosening with her emotions.
“I…” Li Guang hesitated and got stuck. She was too embarrassed to say that she was just shy. She saw that they were already at Zone A. She stopped and said in a very loud voice: “Princess, welcome home!”
Ran Mingyue: “…”
Ran Mingyue then noticed that Li Guang’s nose was a little red from the cold wind.
She softened again.
“Li Guang, have you eaten?” Ran Mingyue opened the door. Her body was only on one side of the door, leaving a large space. “If you haven’t—”
“The cafeteria is having a special meal today! Pork ribs!” Li Guang showed a happy and longing smile. “I… you should go in quickly, it’s cold outside.”
Li Guang took two steps back, putting a safe distance between them.
Ran Mingyue looked down and smiled at herself again, not knowing what she was thinking.
Li Guang saw Ran Mingyue enter the door and then quickly ran away.
Of course, she couldn’t go in. She wasn’t supposed to enter Ran Mingyue’s home.
Ran Mingyue’s status was different from hers.
But she was still late when she got back. The cafeteria was already out of food, and the auntie was closing the door.
She could only return to the security office with her hungry, rumbling stomach. She was scheduled to work until 8 p.m. this afternoon, and after that, she wouldn’t have to work the night shift for a week.
She sat in front of the monitor for a while. Li Guang still hadn’t decided whether she should splurge on a delivery meal.
Small cakes! Small cakes! Can’t she eat a small cake!
Ever since she had tasted one a couple of days ago, she couldn’t stop thinking about it.
But Wen Yingzhi had said it was something she had ordered. She hadn’t been able to ask about it last time.
Li Guang was troubled. After thinking it over, she still hadn’t come up with a good idea.
She didn’t have Wen Yingzhi’s contact information.
Maybe I should ask Sister Mingyue?
As Li Guang was thinking this, her phone vibrated. She saw it was a call from her mother and immediately answered.
“Mom, what’s wrong? What’s up?”
“Xiao Guang, I saw your Moments. What’s going on, you’re not an actress anymore?” her mother said on the other end. “How can you be a security guard?”
Li Guang was dumbfounded. She moved her lips and finally managed to squeeze out half a sentence from her dry throat: “Mom, there’s nothing wrong with being a security guard.”
“How can that be? What future is there in being a security guard? You’re still so young, why are you doing that?” her mother asked in confusion. “Quit early.”
“I think it’s pretty good. I can become a security team leader later…” Li Guang said with a hint of pride. “I’m telling you, there’s a show being filmed here, and we’ll definitely get a bonus…”
“Xiao Guang, are you silly? If I go out and people ask me what you do, am I supposed to tell them you’re a security guard? And your brother, do you want him to say that his sister is a security guard when he’s at school?”
Li Guang’s voice became low: “Is that bad?”
Her mother sighed. “Just quit that job early.”
Li Guang was silent for a while and said: “I’m not quitting. I’m still on probation, and I have to do a good job.”
“You’re such a child. You just had to go and do… you went and became a security guard. So all that time you spent going to acting school for the past two years was for nothing?”
No, it wasn’t for nothing.
Li Guang only knew that at that time, she desperately needed to find something she could do, she needed an outlet. And at that time, she had met Ran Mingyue at school.
After hanging up the phone with her family, Li Guang no longer felt hungry.
Before she could even recover, the phone rang again. This time it was her former manager, Xie Yunfei.
“Xiao Li, are you free tomorrow? Can you come to the company in the morning to sign the contract termination?” Xie Yunfei said. “Your contract officially expires tomorrow. Come early in the morning, or I’ll go to a meeting, and you’ll have to wait for a long time again.”
“Okay.”
“Have you found another company?”
“No, I have a new job,” Li Guang said. She was about to say more but remembered what her mother had just said to her. Li Guang didn’t say anything else.
“Okay then, be on time tomorrow morning.”
She put the phone on the table and slapped her face with her two palms. It was a little numb. She then pressed her fingers to the sides of her cheeks, forcing her drooping lips into a smile.
Because it was a forced smile, her dimples were gone.
Anyway, there’s no one else in the security office.
Don’t be discouraged! Li Guang! Don’t be discouraged! There’s always a rainbow after the rain!
Even if you’re going to die tomorrow! You have to die with a smile!
Li Guang was screaming in her heart as she pressed her face against the glass until the cold glass made her expression grimace. That’s when Ran Mingyue’s face was right in front of hers.
Ran Mingyue was holding back a laugh. She was slightly bent over, wiggling the small box she was holding in her hand toward the security office.
The next second, Li Guang suddenly leaned back. She didn’t even have time to control her grimacing expression. She forgot that she was sitting on a stool and how absurdly strong she was.
With a loud “boom,” her hands fumbled for the table but couldn’t grab it. She only managed to grab a stack of papers. As she fell, A4 papers went flying everywhere.
Li Guang fell, with both her and the chair going backward, spread-eagled. In an instant, all that was left in front of Ran Mingyue were two small, thin legs, which were still twitching in the air.
