- The Scummy Top Desperately Tries to Win Back His Ex After the Breakup
- Chapter 8 - New Lover
Jiang Zui sat in the first-floor waiting hall of the building, wrapped in a thick coat and wearing glasses and a mask. Fully armed in this disguise, his strange appearance caused passersby to stop and peer at him, though he remained entirely unaware.
Lately, his schedule had been nearly full. Jiang Zui had been working day and night, and his physical strength was exhausted to the point where he could practically fall asleep while standing.
At this moment, he leaned against the back of the chair with his head tilted, sleeping soundly. He did not even know when Pei Youting stood before him. Pei Youting was in no hurry and simply sat quietly by his side.
When Jiang Zui woke up, the first thing he saw was Pei Youting’s incredibly handsome face. His heart skipped a beat as he asked, “When did you come down?”
Pei Youting glanced at his watch and then turned his head to look at him, the corners of his lips curving slightly. “About an hour ago?”
Jiang Zui’s face grew warm. “Why did you not wake me up?”
“There is nothing to do tonight. Seeing you sleep so soundly, I did not have the heart to do it.” Pei Youting smiled and took his hand. “As for you, wearing a mask and glasses like you are fully armed; is it not stuffy?”
As he spoke, he led Jiang Zui out of the company as if no one else were there. Along the way, employees passed them by. Seeing them so intimate inevitably drew various looks, but Pei Youting seemed to turn a blind eye, as if he were accustomed to it.
Jiang Zui had good hearing. He noticed a female employee nearby scanning him from head to toe while whispering to her colleague.
“Who is that? Someone in the industry? Has the boss changed people again?”
“The boss changing people is nothing new.”
When Jiang Zui passed by, he happened to hear that sentence. For some reason, he felt a bit stifled in his heart.
This dull feeling had been hidden in his heart for more than a day or two. Jiang Zui certainly knew that a person like Pei Youting must have had many partners in the past, but he believed that he and Pei Youting were different; they were in a proper romantic relationship.
However, it seemed that no one except him believed it. Just like at this moment, as he walked with Pei Youting, others only thought of him as a little bird kept by Pei Youting.
Jiang Zui’s mood could not help but drop. He followed behind Pei Youting until they reached the car, remaining silent the entire way.
Pei Youting was very sharp and naturally noticed that Jiang Zui was acting differently. He reached out to remove the bothersome sunglasses and the mask from Jiang Zui’s face, looking at him with great concern.
“What is wrong?” Pei Youting asked.
Jiang Zui’s fingers twisted together. This was a habit he had since childhood; whenever he was upset, he would fiddle with his fingers. From his hand movements, one could see that he had been struggling for a long time, but in the end, he still could not hold it back.
Jiang Zui said, “Before me, did you have many people?”
Pei Youting understood now; Jiang Zui had taken the words of the people in the company to heart.
He lowered his eyes, looking somewhat hurt. “Do you not trust me?”
“No, I just,” Jiang Zui began.
“You do not believe me,” Pei Youting interrupted him. “You would rather guess wildly about me in your heart than believe,” he looked at Jiang Zui, his eyes shimmering, “my feelings for you are sincere.”
Jiang Zui’s heart gave a sudden thump.
“Trust me,” Pei Youting said, cupping Jiang Zui’s face with both hands as if treating a rare treasure. “Jiang Zui, my feelings for you are sincere.”
Everywhere Jiang Zui looked, there was only Pei Youting. He traced the other man’s handsome and deep features with his eyes, as if he were possessed or falling into a deep pool.
“I love you,” Jiang Zui said in a daze.
Pei Youting’s gaze seemed to drift for a moment, becoming somewhat vacant, but it quickly returned to normal. They were very close; Pei Youting could hear the powerful and steady heartbeat in Jiang Zui’s chest.
He responded with a deep, affectionate kiss.
The car windows were one-way, so from the outside, one could not see what it was like inside the car. Passersby could only see the cabin creaking and swaying from time to time.
The heater was not on in the car, but the heat exhaled during the moment of passion made them both thirsty. Their lips and tongues intertwined, making a gurgling sound.
Jiang Zui embraced the person on top of him. His clothes had been removed at some unknown point. Pei Youting’s kisses vied for space on his neck and collarbone, feeling numbing and slightly itchy. He shrunk back uncontrollably, and it was at this moment that he heard the sound of a belt buckle unfastening.
Immediately afterward, his world spun around. Jiang Zui was flipped over. He felt something and his eyes suddenly widened. He reached out to grab Pei Youting’s wrist, his voice trembling slightly. “Do not,” he whispered.
“Does it have to be today? Now? But I,” he seemed a bit afraid, “I have not prepared anything.”
Pei Youting narrowed his eyes and looked at him for a while. In the dim light, those eyes appeared extremely sharp, like a wolf in the dark, making Jiang Zui feel a sense of dread for no reason. The fingers holding Pei Youting’s wrist loosened slightly.
But those gloomy eyes eventually softened. Pei Youting leaned down and hugged him from behind, gently kissing the back of his neck. “Not today? Then forget it. Use your hand,” he said hoarsely. “Help me.”
Jiang Zui felt a bit relieved and eventually turned around.
After the matter was over, although Pei Youting did not say anything, Jiang Zui still felt a vague sense of unsatisfied desire. He lowered his head in a distracted manner, and because he was not good with words, he did not say anything soft until the two of them parted.
In the following days, Jiang Zui’s schedule remained full. Those few hours had been squeezed out with great difficulty. After a short period of warmth, he had to rotate between several film sets starting the next day.
But he still used every spare moment to hold his phone and send messages to Pei Youting, asking after his well-being. However, Pei Youting also seemed very busy and did not necessarily reply to a single message after a long time.
They could not even chat much online, let alone meet in person.
While he was feeling annoyed, Xu Yan approached him holding a gala invitation. The female manager gave an order, “Do you see this? Hurry up, change your clothes. You are going here tonight.”
Jiang Zui frowned, his expression not looking very good. He had always disliked these social galas. In such places, except for those with power and influence, others were like products with a clear price tag, offered up for judgment without any dignity.
Xu Yan knew his temper and was about to persuade him, but she noticed Jiang Zui’s gaze freeze on the invitation. She looked in the direction of his gaze; the organizers of the banquet were printed in the corner: the Pei family and the Yan family.
“I will go,” Jiang Zui said softly.
Pei Youting should be going, right?
After not seeing him for a few days, Jiang Zui’s heart was entirely set on Pei Youting. Whenever he had a moment of leisure, his thoughts involuntarily drifted toward him.
“I really have fallen for him,” Jiang Zui thought to himself.
