The Scumbag Attackers Regretted It Deeply After My Death - Chapter 33
Jiang Nian’an leaned back, raising her hand to pinch the bridge of her nose where a frown was tightly knit. She poured a bucket of cold water over Shen Mengjin’s hopes.
“Forget it. It’s precisely because Yao Anna is Dr. Adams’ student that it’s even more impossible for him to perform surgery on Yao Guangming.”
Shen Mengjin froze, looking puzzled. “Why? Madam might have intervened earlier because she didn’t know the situation. Seeing her teacher in danger, she naturally acted against our people. That’s on me—if I had discovered she was his student and that he came to Imperial Capital specifically to see her, I wouldn’t have resorted to such a desperate measure…”
Jiang Nian’an slowly closed her eyes. Hearing this, her eyelashes fluttered, and her lips curled into a helpless, bitter smile.
She had never met someone so eager to take all the blame upon themselves.
However, Jiang Nian’an knew perfectly well that Shen Mengjin wasn’t at fault. The fault was hers. If she hadn’t hurt Yao Anna, the woman wouldn’t loathe her so much. Adding to that, Yao Anna had just witnessed her trying to kidnap her respected teacher and senior brother; she likely hated her to the bone by now.
The Omega detested her so much—how could she possibly let her teacher operate on the Omega’s own father?
At the thought, Jiang Nian’an felt a pang of heartache. She suddenly felt that Yao Anna was a complete stranger. It was as if she knew nothing about her; she didn’t know she was so skilled in combat, much less that she had a mentor-student relationship with the internationally renowned Dr. Adams.
Just how many secrets was she hiding?
Jiang Nian’an shook her head, finding it utterly ridiculous. Her own fiancée, and she didn’t understand her in the slightest.
After picking up Adams and Peter, Yao Anna drove them to a five-star luxury hotel where she had previously stayed to drop off their luggage and rest.
This hotel was considered one of the best in the Imperial Capital. Moreover, Yao Anna had booked a presidential suite complete with a swimming pool, a gaming room, and various other amenities. it was convenient for their work and satisfied Peter’s hobby of playing games late into the night—killing three birds with one stone.
As soon as Peter entered the room, he plopped down into a comfortable, soft gaming chair, fiddling with the mouse as if he couldn’t bear to let go.
“Junior sister, I absolutely love you! We haven’t seen each other in so long, and you actually remembered my habits!”
The afternoon sun was bright and warm, shining through the large floor-to-ceiling windows into the room. Yao Anna smiled, opened the fridge, and took out three bottles of mineral water. She tossed one to Peter and walked over to the sofa where Adams was sitting. She twisted the cap off one bottle and handed it to him.
“Thank you.”
“No matter how long we are apart, I will always remember every detail of our life together. Senior brother’s habit of playing games at night hasn’t changed. And I know you like swimming, Teacher. The pool in this room is a bit small, but there’s a large swimming club on the top floor. If you get bored, you can go up for a few laps.”
Hearing this, both Adams and Peter were deeply moved. Peter finally managed to tear himself away from the gaming chair. He sat on the other side of the sofa and teased with a smile, “There’s a saying in China, isn’t there? ‘With a sister like this, what more could a man ask for?'”
Yao Anna rolled her eyes at the flighty Peter. Amused, she said with a look of feigned disgust, “And you call yourself an expert on China? Give it a rest. Chinese culture is vast and profound; you’d better learn a lot more before showing off in front of me.”
“Was I wrong?” Peter scratched his head and grinned.
The atmosphere was harmonious, but Adams frowned slightly. He seemed to have concerns. After hesitating, he asked, “Anna, I want to know who that Miss Jiang was. You seem to know her, and how did she know my itinerary? This is very important to me.”
Finally back to this topic. Yao Anna knew her teacher would ask about what happened. She sighed softly, her brows furrowing slightly.
“Her name is Jiang Nian’an. She is very powerful in the Imperial Capital. As for how she found out your itinerary…”
“I’m not quite sure about that.” Yao Anna shook her head and looked up at Peter, who was drinking water. She raised an eyebrow and teased intentionally, “Speaking of which, I remember Senior Brother has been acting as your assistant. Your itinerary is usually arranged by him, right?”
“Pffft—”
Peter, who thought he was safe, choked and sprayed out a mouthful of water. He gestured wildly in a panic, explaining innocently, “No! It wasn’t me! I really didn’t reveal the teacher’s whereabouts to anyone!”
Fortunately, Yao Anna dodged quickly. Adams, however, was splashed right in the face. He wiped the water off, his face turning completely dark.
“Peter!”
“Teacher, I was wrong…”
Seeing Peter looking both terrified and innocent, Yao Anna was overcome with laughter. She clicked her tongue and said mischievously, “Admitting it so quickly?”
Peter froze for a second before realizing what she meant. He shouted in frustration, “I didn’t! It really wasn’t me! Who knows where that Jiang person found out? I swear it has nothing to do with me. If you don’t believe it, we can confront her face to face!”
“Forget about the confrontation,” Yao Anna said, her smile fading as she sat up straight. Her tone turned cold. “I never want to see her again.”
Adams wiped his face clean with a tissue, his expression softening. Hearing this, he couldn’t help but exchange a look with Peter. He sensed there was a story between Yao Anna and that Miss Jiang.
“If it wasn’t leaked from Senior Brother’s side, then Jiang Nian’an must have found it herself. You don’t know how capable she is. That secretary named Shen by her side used to be a master hacker. Checking your travel records would be child’s play for her.”
Adams nodded and asked further, “Then how do you know her secretary is a hacker? I asked about your relationship with her, and you haven’t answered me yet.”
Yao Anna hadn’t expected her teacher to be so persistent, but she understood why. After all, this was his first time in China, and he had encountered such a situation. If she hadn’t appeared in time, he and Peter might already be in Jiang Nian’an’s hands.
In the Imperial Capital, Jiang Nian’an practically ruled the roost.
Yao Anna hesitated. She didn’t want to tell them about her relationship with Jiang Nian’an. To her, it was old news. She had already broken ties with the Yao family after sending Yao Guangming to the hospital. By extension, her engagement to Jiang Nian’an was effectively null and void.
Therefore, she believed she had rid herself of Jiang Nian’an and wanted no further entanglement.
Of course, revenge was still on the table. She was no longer the naive girl of her past life. She would reclaim every bit of the debt Jiang Nian’an owed her, piece by piece. But to face the powerful Jiang Nian’an now would be like throwing an egg against a stone. She was waiting—waiting to become strong, waiting to reach the pinnacle of the entertainment industry…
That would be the moment of Jiang Nian’an’s downfall.
Seeing her look so troubled, Adams’ suspicion deepened.
“Anna, I’m not trying to pry into your relationship with that person. It’s just… I feel that Miss Jiang is very dangerous! She dared to bring men to the airport to forcibly take Peter and me away. This proves she has massive influence and the capital to be arrogant.”
“And you injured her men. Peter and I are fine—we’re leaving tomorrow—but you still have to live in this city. I’m worried about you. I’m afraid she will retaliate!”
At this, Adams looked deeply worried. He sighed. “I regret it a bit now. If I had known it would turn out like this, I might as well have performed the surgery for her friend. That would be better than you being in such a dangerous position.”
Yao Anna was stunned. She hadn’t thought that far ahead, assuming the teacher was just rattled by Jiang Nian’an. She hadn’t realized his true concern was that she would be targeted by the Alpha!
Moved, Yao Anna pursed her lips and was about to explain when Adams grew more agitated. He grabbed her shoulders. “Why don’t you come back to Country M with me?”
“Come back and be my assistant. With your talent in medicine, you will surely achieve great things!”
“Most importantly, it’s safe there. As long as you come back with me, no matter how powerful that Miss Jiang is, she won’t be able to hurt you!”
Adams looked steadily at the young, beautiful Omega, his voice firm.
Yao Anna was speechless. She knew that Country M was Adams’ territory. Given his international standing in medicine, the authorities there would never allow him to be in danger.
She was touched by his constant care and his offer of a safe haven, but she couldn’t accept it right now.
“Teacher, don’t worry. That Jiang person can’t hurt me for now. To tell you the truth, I had an engagement with her, but it was arranged by my family. Even if she wants to retaliate, she can’t do it openly. So, your concerns aren’t necessary.”
Yao Anna’s expression softened. She smiled dismissively and patted Adams’ hand to reassure him. Adams relaxed slightly, though he felt a bit disappointed because her words were a clear rejection of his proposal to return with him.
