The Scum Gong Villain Returns to Work - Chapter 6
When Yu Sui leisurely stepped out dressed in his coat, Yu Baihua had already completely regained his composure. Reclining against the sofa, he held a cup of coffee delivered by his assistant while reviewing an incoming report. Yu Sui leaned against the doorframe to appraise the man before him. Yu Baihua didn’t spare him so much as a glance; the moment he finished reading the final page, he tossed the report straight onto the coffee table with a frigid, icy tone:
“The Tang family claims they’re only borrowing two shipping routes in international waters, but do you not realize how much profit they’re forcing us to cede? Who the hell submitted this garbage?”
All traces of youthful awkwardness and naivety had faded from Yu Baihua’s features. Beneath the lighting, his grayish pupils appeared somewhat pale, their sharp edges gleaming with a razor-thin, cold micro-light resembling shattered glass. Without doing anything more than sitting there staring calmly at the person before him, he left the assistant bathed in a cold sweat, until the man finally stammered out through trembling lips: “It… it was drafted by Cousin…”
With his legs crossed, Yu Baihua let out a humorless laugh upon hearing this. Reaching out to retrieve the report and the fountain pen from the coffee table, he flicked his wrist with unhurried poise to sign his signature. The handwriting was bold, fluid, and striking, with the sharp strokes concealed at the finish just like the man himself.
“Take it away,” he handed it back.
Daring not take the document, the assistant stared at him in helpless panic before hearing his casual, indifferent pronouncement:
“Use those two shipping routes to send him on his final journey. Since he’s a member of the Yu family, let him leave with a bit of dignity.”
With ample patience, Yu Sui watched this good show unfold, not forgetting to detour over to the kitchenette to pour himself a cup of warm water, then unwrapping a decorative little milk pan to heat up some milk. The moment Yu Baihua finished delivering his cold-hearted verdict, Yu Sui brought the milk over and handed it to him.
“?” Yu Baihua looked up at him with displeasure.
“Drink it,” Yu Sui explained simply, then released his grip. Realizing Yu Baihua had no way to push it away, the man had no choice but to take hold of it in his palm.
From the assistant’s perspective, compared to that terrifying corporate report, this cup of milk was the true item capable of driving Yu Baihua into a state of intense hesitation. Whether to drink it when he wanted or leave it untouched when he didn’t should have been a simple choice, yet Yu Baihua deliberated for a full three minutes, lifting and lowering the cup before finally draining it in a single gulp. Then, with vindictive intensity, he slammed the cup down onto the coffee table and shot a fierce glare in Yu Sui’s direction.
Yu Sui thought to himself: Are you kidding me? I drank warm milk for seven years straight; do you really think you can just stop drinking it without asking for my consent first? Whether you’re Yu Baihua or President Yu, you’re going to drink it when I heat it up, so don’t even try to test me.
Abruptly springing to his feet, Yu Baihua instructed his assistant: “Get the car ready. I’m heading to the office.”
“Oh… and have an evening gown prepared for this fellow.”
The assistant cast a curious glance at Yu Sui before nodding in compliance.
Just as Yu Baihua was about to head out the door, Yu Sui called out to him with a smile:
“President Yu, thank you. Though I’m quite curious, how is it that the clothes you bought me fit so impeccably?”
Yu Baihua paused for a fraction of a moment, then turned his head back. A playful, provocative crook tugged at the corner of his lips as he dropped an ambiguous remark: “An ex-boyfriend’s measurements.”
Yu Sui raised an eyebrow, a light chuckle spilling past his lips before he drawled lazily: “Is that so? Then your ex-boyfriend must not have held your affection, since he evidently never even taught you how to kiss unlike me.”
Yu Sui watched as Yu Baihua nearly tripped over his own feet right as he stepped out the door.
Pinching his cup to mask his amusement, Yu Sui shook his head gently.
Not until the door clicked completely shut did 058 eagerly pop out from the system space. Holding up the electronic projection screen with its little round arms, it claimed credit:
“The host guessed correctly. There are indeed accounting discrepancies within the Yu family enterprises. More than one party is targeting Yu Baihua, and the interference was engineered from the inside it’s extremely well-concealed.”
It was rare for 058 to work with such enthusiasm. After all, despite technically functioning as a cheat-code system, it was rarely utilized by the employees of the Villain Department, leading to the eventual bankruptcy of its built-in system mall. 058’s digital existence had grown far too monotonous, until its hosts introduced it to the ultimate earthly joys of mahjong and poker, plunging it deep into slacking off and coasting through life…
Yet now, 058 had decided to shine bright and burn fiercely, contributing its absolute all for the sake of its beloved host!
“Mhm, not surprising.”
Being remarkably cooperative, Yu Sui actually flipped through the report from start to finish before finally patting 058 on the head. “I’ve always kept a mental tally of who’s involved.”
058 belatedly reacted: Oh, right after all, the Yu family had been brought down entirely by Yu Sui in their past life.
Pausing for a moment, Yu Sui abruptly posed a question:
“058, do you think lies are necessary?”
Sensing the hint of doubt woven into Yu Sui’s tone, and knowing that Yu Sui didn’t fully comprehend emotions, 058 answered with profound solemnity:
“I think human existence is forever intertwined with lies, because malice is bound to arise—haven’t we witnessed enough of that over all these years? As for white lies, they’re equally unavoidable. It’s precisely because love and affection exist that deception follows.”
“Then when I deceived Yu Baihua, was that also because of affection?”
Yu Sui broke into a smile. “Never mind, perhaps that’s not quite accurate. Thank you, 058. The next time we play cards, I’ll go easy on you.”
“……Hey! Will you two stop bullying the system all the time? I’m seriously going to report this!”
Because of affection, therefore deception; because of self-interest, therefore deception.
Yu Sui’s lies were far too numerous; magicians naturally stood upon the absolute opposite side of truth, leaving even him incapable of distinguishing the two.
At the Saint Aurorofei Hotel, warm golden light streamed downward from crystal chandeliers, outlining the exquisite design stretching from wall ornaments to fabric draperies. Vast expanses of plaster molding provided visual segmentation, while the soaring ceilings bore understated, tasteful relief carvings effortlessly exuding the quiet, unhurried luxury inherent to every inch of the space.
Amidst the clinking of glasses and cheerful laughter lay the unspoken calculations of mutual leverage and endless resource exchanges. The swaying of gown hems resembled shoals of fish weaving through a bustling current, while golden wine yielded a rich, lingering fragrance.
Power and desire had always been dazzling pearls; whoever held all the cards stood at the dead center, drawing every gaze and vortex around themselves. Countless near-naked stares converged upon him, yet upon closer inspection, every single person remained impeccably dressed and impeccably polite.
Dressed in an immaculate black suit that sculpted the fluid, slender lines of his waist, Yu Baihua wore a white shirt accented with silver threads at the collar though even that failed to outshine his natural complexion, leaving him looking chillingly aloof and extravagantly noble. His dark hair was brushed lightly away from his brow, his expression resembling a pool of ink too thick to ever dissolve, every shard of desire thoroughly kneaded deep into the dark of his eyes.
To everyone’s surprise, he had actually brought someone along with him tonight. The inverse color scheme of a low-key, minimalist white suit neatly and sharply tailored his broad shoulders and long legs. His dark hair was gathered into a low ponytail resting lightly against his right shoulder, casting a relaxed and casual aura over his entire person while maintaining flawless posture appearing as though he were merely strolling through the venue, yet unintentionally capturing a multitude of roving gazes.
Casually swirling the wineglass in his hand, Yu Sui stood composedly beside Yu Baihua. Everyone who came up to exchange pleasantries with Yu Baihua ultimately cast a curious gaze toward Yu Sui, yet Yu Baihua merely offered an indifferent, light smile:
“Is he attractive?”
“President Yu’s taste has always been impeccable.” Thus, the flatterers understood implicitly: he was evidently just a little plaything Yu Baihua kept around to amuse himself.
The Yu Baihua of the past would have stubbornly insisted on introducing Yu Sui to every single person he met. Yet nowadays, he deliberately brought Yu Sui into this specific setting simply to let him understand precisely what kind of status he occupied.
Was this revenge? Was it merely this minor degree of punishment? Yu Baihua was still capable of exercising restraint for the time being; he didn’t mind playing along with Yu Sui for a little while longer and the moment he finally lost his sanity for good, he would undoubtedly drag Yu Sui down to share his grave.
Yu Sui didn’t care about Yu Baihua’s petty little schemes; in fact, he couldn’t care less about anyone else’s gaze. However, since Yu Baihua believed he cared, he felt obliged to care right along with him, maintaining a bored, lackluster expression as though his mood were less than stellar.
It wasn’t until the true guest of honor made a belated entrance that things shifted. Tang Jue, the young master of the Tang family, had been raised away in the ancestral estate and was making his very first public appearance in City A; naturally, he had to invite Yu Baihua to help anchor the scene.
And so, Tang Jue didn’t bother putting on any airs. brushing off countless toasts along the way, he walked straight up to Yu Baihua and extended his hand with straightforward candor:
“Tang Jue. President Yu, long admired.”
Yu Baihua cracked a smile, his delicate features rendered three parts more striking by the expression, his grayish pupils carrying a faint, care-free indifference. His eyes were beautiful, save for the biting, bone-chilling cold radiating from within them, which made it impossible for anyone to feel a sense of warmth or closeness.
“Young Master Tang is truly innocent and pure; meeting you feels like running into an old friend.”
His words carried a double meaning. Tang Jue seemed slightly slow to catch on a naive cluelessness that bore virtually no difference from the Yu Baihua of the past, which only served to irritate Yu Baihua further.
Yu Sui really does have a weakness for that specific type.
After exchanging a few more perfunctory pleasantries with Yu Baihua, Tang Jue’s gaze slowly drifted over to Yu Sui standing nearby. Watching Yu Sui take a slow sip of his wine, his lowered eyelids possessed a beauty surpassing the amber hue of the champagne within his glass, proving far more intoxicating.
“Is he attractive?” Yu Baihua asked once again, his tone laced with provocative amusement.
“Very attractive,” Tang Jue smiled. “President Yu, why don’t you introduce your friend to me so we can get acquainted? I’ll return the favor with a grand gift of my own guaranteed to be worthy of him.”
Yu Baihua let out a sharp, sudden bark of laughter. Reaching out, he snatched the wineglass right out of Yu Sui’s hand, raised it high, and poured its contents slowly down over Yu Sui’s head.
Absolute silence descended. No one dared pull such an unseemly stunt on the birthday host during a Tang family banquet yet it was Yu Baihua. Anyone familiar with his ruthless methods knew this act served as nothing more than a warning.
The smile on Tang Jue’s face remained entirely unchanged, even when facing such humiliation: “President Yu, isn’t this a bit excessive over a mere dog?”
Yu Baihua offered a casual, everyday reply: “Young Master Tang misunderstands. Since you like him, naturally I wouldn’t refuse. As for the return gift you promised me… this right here is my return gift to you.”
He looked directly at Yu Sui, articulating his words one by one in a soft whisper:
“Yu Sui, are you willing?”
Meeting his gaze, Yun Sui beamed brightly, his smile radiant and easy:
“Of course. I’d be more than happy to.”
