The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 71
The Lin family opened the door to welcome the visitor. When Tan Yi saw the young girl standing at the entrance, she was momentarily stunned. How could there be two people in the world who looked so much alike?
Her demeanor and posture were so much like Lin Luoluo’s.
If Lin Luoluo hadn’t still been in a coma in her room, and if Tan Yi hadn’t just seen her, she would have truly believed her own daughter had woken up.
“Little girl, why are you knocking on my door?” Tan Yi asked, a little dazed.
Lan Yingying noticed the slight wetness in her mother’s eyes, but she firmly suppressed her emotion and said, “I’m Lin Luoluo’s friend. I heard she was sick, so I came to visit her.”
“You’re her friend?” Tan Yi stared at Lan Yingying for a moment, surprised. “She never mentioned you to me, or that you look so much like her.”
Lan Yingying tried to force a smile: “She mentioned you, Auntie, and said you are the best mother in the world.”
Tan Yi’s eyes reddened. She looked down and wiped the corner of her eye, not wanting anyone to see her sadness. “Did she really say that?”
“Yes,” Lan Yingying nodded emphatically.
Tan Yi put on a false smile, but her face still held an unshakeable bitterness.
“Come in, child.”
Lan Yingying felt a similar sense of disorientation upon seeing the familiar place, but she quickly snapped out of it. She told herself she would be back soon.
Tan Yi asked the housekeeper to serve tea and asked kindly, “What’s your name, child?”
“My name is Lan Yingying.”
Tan Yi smiled: “That’s lovely. May I call you Yingying?”
Lan Yingying nodded. Tan Yi then asked, “How did you and my daughter meet?”
Lan Yingying hesitated slightly.
Tan Yi explained, “Luoluo only returned to the country recently, so I didn’t expect her to make friends so quickly.”
Lan Yingying pursed her lips and quickly fabricated a lie.
“We just met a while ago. I only recently heard she was sick. Can I go see her, Auntie?”
Lan Yingying’s use of the word “Auntie” sounded slightly odd.
She had lacked nothing growing up; her family provided everything she wanted. She had never known hardship or suffering. Her only regret was her unsuccessful romantic relationships.
After learning she had a chance to become the female lead and be with Gu Beichen, she didn’t think twice and left with the system.
She knew she was living in a book, and she was the cannon fodder female supporting character whose role was to facilitate the relationship between the male and female leads.
But having been the protagonist for so long, how could she relinquish her power?
She had done so much, and now she had finally returned to her starting point.
Tan Yi looked at Lan Yingying with great warmth. The sense of familiarity was like looking at her own child.
She nodded and agreed.
Tan Yi led Lan Yingying upstairs.
Lan Yingying noticed that everything in the house was still the same.
Originally, she had planned to use external forces to change the reality of this world. Unexpectedly, the two worlds merged, which made her plan even more convenient.
Pushing open the door, Lan Yingying held her breath, eager to see her own body. Then her expression turned cold. She saw a room full of people, especially Zhang Qiu, who was standing by the bed and talking to Sang Jing, who had also come to visit Lin Luoluo. As the door opened, Zhang Qiu turned and saw a person who looked eight parts similar to Lin Luoluo standing by the door.
Zhang Qiu stared blankly at the doorway, her eyes fixed on the person.
Lan Yingying frowned in disgust. She glanced inside and saw another person in a wheelchair.
Tan Yi introduced: “These are all Luoluo’s friends.”
Sang Jing smiled. Lin Luoluo, who was next to her own body, grew nervous. This was the third time she had directly faced Lan Yingying. She noticed that Lan Yingying’s face looked much fiercer than hers, naturally carrying an air of a pampered young lady’s superiority. She looked down upon people, and the whites of her eyes were more prominent than her irises, making her look very arrogant.
Lan Yingying’s expression was a little cold, especially when facing Zhang Qiu. She hadn’t paid much attention to Sang Jing in the room, but upon seeing Zhang Qiu, she automatically activated an enemy-lock mode, full of hostility.
Sang Jing looked at the nervous Lin Luoluo, turned to Zhang Qiu and said, “Could you take me to the restroom? I need to use the bathroom.”
Lan Yingying’s attention then focused on her, and she realized Sang Jing was just an insignificant minor character, so she immediately relaxed. She lifted her sharp chin at Zhang Qiu, her voice a little jarring: “You’re also Lin Luoluo’s friend? How could Lin Luoluo make friends with someone so shabby!”
Tan Yi looked at Lan Yingying in shock. Her initially good impression instantly plummeted.
Zhang Qiu frowned slightly, unwilling to argue with anyone beside Lin Luoluo’s sickbed. She looked down and said to Sang Jing, “I’ll push you.”
Sang Jing said softly, “Thank you.”
She gave the Lin Luoluo on the bed a meaningful look. The two, plus a ghost, left the room. Only then did Tan Yi disapprovingly shake her head at Lan Yingying: “Even if you have good personal conditions, you shouldn’t look down on others.”
“Times make heroes. Who knows when we might fall to being mere underdogs?”
“Arrogance will only make everyone distance themselves from you.”
Lan Yingying’s lips pressed into a tight line. She didn’t like hearing such words.
As a supporting character, she might have been relegated to a secondary role, but as the female lead, it was absolutely impossible.
Ever since she found out she was just a supporting character with few scenes in a book, Lan Yingying had gone off the rails. She felt that the entire world was fake—her father, her mother, her family, and her friends were all fake. The only real thing was herself and her ambition to climb the social ladder.
That’s why she immediately hit it off with the system.
Tan Yi saw the defiance on her face and knew the child hadn’t listened to what she said. She sighed internally and said no more.
Honest advice is harsh to the ears, and few people are willing to listen.
Tan Yi saw her gaze drift towards the bed curtains, and her eyes dimmed as she said, “That’s Luoluo. She’s been asleep for twenty days now.”
The longer the time passed, the smaller their hope became.
They both hoped Luoluo would wake up the next moment and feared she would be eternally asleep.
Tan Yi had cried all her tears at night, so now she couldn’t squeeze out any more, but her heart felt hollow.
She was grateful that Zhang Qiu had come to keep her company; otherwise, being home alone, she would have become sad again.
Lan Yingying asked the system to check the condition of her body and received the conclusion that the body was perfectly healthy, merely lacking a soul. Her gaze, full of avarice, settled on the body. She planned to first transfer her assets back in her own world before returning to fully claim the body.
She tentatively reached out to touch her own cheek but was gently blocked by Tan Yi.
Tan Yi was not comfortable with anyone touching her daughter. When she was home, she was the one who personally took care of her daughter’s body.
Lan Yingying’s eyes flashed with fierce intent, but upon seeing it was her own mother, she forced her mouth into a downturned curve.
Tan Yi didn’t notice, sitting by Lin Luoluo’s bedside, her eyes resting softly on her daughter’s face as she let out a soft sigh.
“Oh, Luoluo, please wake up. So many of your friends are hoping for your recovery.”
The Price of Return
In the adjacent restroom, Sang Jing spoke to Lin Luoluo: “It seems the other party has come looking for you.”
Lin Luoluo said anxiously, “Then I must go back quickly!”
“Have you truly thought about bearing the punishment for mission failure?” Sang Jing suddenly asked. “Losing everything and restarting from scratch. You might also lose the memories of this time. Or perhaps, you will forget each other and become enemies.”
Lin Luoluo fell silent.
Sang Jing said, “You still have time to think. You have until the next Red Moon arrives.”
“In fifteen days, when the Red Moon is full, that will be the day for your return.”
“Think carefully.”
Sang Jing opened the restroom door and said to Zhang Qiu, who was waiting outside, “Thank you.”
As Zhang Qiu pushed her wheelchair, the amulet hanging around her neck became visible when she bent over. Sang Jing saw it and asked, “Is that the talisman Luoluo got for me from the abbot on the mountain last time?”
Zhang Qiu touched her neck and nodded, her voice subdued.
“Yes, it is.”
“I remember it rained heavily that day. Our car even broke down. The incense and candles in the main hall were blown out several times by the wind. She kept lighting them again and again, kneeling sincerely before the Bodhisattva. The abbot specially gave her one extra consecrated amulet.”
Zhang Qiu listened quietly.
Sang Jing said, “She truly seemed to like you very much.”
Zhang Qiu involuntarily hunched her tall spine, a sudden pang of pain in her heart, as if it had been pierced by a sharp arrow.
A bitter taste spread in her mouth.
“If there was a way for her to wake up, but she turned out to be a different person, would you still wish for her to wake?”
Zhang Qiu’s voice was muffled: “It would be wonderful just for her to wake up.”
Zhang Qiu pushed Sang Jing out of the guest room, her eyebrows tightly furrowed and knotted together.
A Lonesome Confession
Sang Jing left, leaving Lin Luoluo’s soul in the Lin house. Lan Yingying also departed. Tan Yi, feeling fatigued, returned to her room to rest. Only Zhang Qiu was left beside Lin Luoluo.
She fetched a basin of water and gently wiped Lin Luoluo’s hands and face.
…
Although she was diligently cared for every day, Lin Luoluo had been unconscious for a long time, only maintaining vital signs through a ventilator and IV fluids. Her skin had gradually become dry and flaky.
Zhang Qiu performed a skin care routine, carefully avoiding her mouth and nose.
She also thoughtfully applied hand and foot masks for her.
No girl dislikes beauty. She hoped Lin Luoluo’s skin would remain as smooth as before when she woke up.
However, the look in her eyes as she gazed at Lin Luoluo remained very sorrowful.
That melancholy was like a small drop of water falling into a river, quickly causing her to lower her head, her eyes rimmed with red.
Zhang Qiu murmured to herself: “As long as you can wake up, it doesn’t matter if you’re not with me.”
“Being together isn’t that important.”
“To see you happy and energetic every day, that would already make me very happy.”
“In the past, when people called me a jinx and said my birth chart was harsh, killing my parents, I would fiercely curse them out. Now, I’m starting to believe it a little.”
“I might really be a jinx.”
Lin Luoluo’s soul sat beside Zhang Qiu, resting her head on Zhang Qiu’s hunched back. She couldn’t tell Zhang Qiu that none of this was her fault, only watching as Zhang Qiu blamed herself.
Sang Jing had asked her to think clearly, but Lin Luoluo was even more confused.
If she went back, she would face the system’s punishment. If she didn’t, her body would be occupied by her other self, who harbored malice towards Zhang Qiu and might not have any affection for her family.
She was a cold-hearted person; otherwise, she wouldn’t have abandoned everything for a man.
Zhang Qiu moved, and Lin Luoluo’s soul floated lightly through her body. She saw dark clouds covering the distant sky; a storm seemed imminent.
…
New Crisis
Sang Jing came to visit Lin Luoluo again. This time, Zhang Qiu was absent, as she had gone to record a show.
Zhang Qiu had signed a six-episode contract with the production team, with each episode requiring ten days of recording—seven days of formal filming and three days of retakes.
Sang Jing brought another piece of bad news.
“He Jin was in a car accident and is currently fighting for his life in the hospital.”
