The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 45
“Why have you suddenly started posting on Moments?”
Dongfang Qing stood behind Zhang Qiu, looking at his phone in bewilderment.
Zhang Qiu was clearing the dishes. Pipi, the dog, was nudging around her feet. Seeing Pipi causing mischief, Dongfang Qing put away his phone, waved, and called Pipi over, rubbing the dog’s head.
Zhang Qiu chuckled lightly: “I just suddenly realized my life is worth recording too.”
Dongfang Qing watched her take the dishes into the kitchen, deep in thought.
Could Zhang Qiu be in love? This cheerful, ‘bathed in spring breeze’ state didn’t seem like her usual self.
“What are you scheming?” Dongfang Qing followed her into the kitchen and asked.
Zhang Qiu finished washing the dirty dishes and arranged them on the drying rack. Grandma was tired after dinner and was napping in bed. Pipi hadn’t been walked yet and was pacing anxiously around the house.
Zhang Qiu dried her hands, put Pipi’s leash on, and straightened up, saying: “What could I be scheming? I’m as honest as they come.”
Dongfang Qing shook his head, smiling faintly.
She was a good person, but he wasn’t so sure about the “honest” part.
He was originally scheduled for a medical check-up that morning but received a sudden call from Zhang Qiu inviting him over. Dongfang Qing had been to Zhang Qiu’s house before. During a fight with his family, he’d impulsively decided to run away. Having nowhere to go, Zhang Qiu had taken him in. He’d stayed with her and her grandmother for a week until he’d thought things through and his family had picked him up.
Receiving Zhang Qiu’s call, Dongfang Qing was quite eager.
Once this physical examination was complete and he met the criteria for surgery, he would be going abroad. It was a life-or-death situation, and before leaving, Dongfang Qing wanted to see everyone he cared about. Thus, he readily accepted Zhang Qiu’s invitation.
After Zhang Qiu learned he needed a check-up, she accompanied him for the examination first before they took the Dongfang family’s car back to her home.
Grandma had expected Zhang Qiu to bring back a pretty young girl and had even clipped the most vibrant flowers from the garden for the table. She was surprised, though not displeased, to see Dongfang Qing, this somewhat frail young man, instead.
Although the person was different, it didn’t really matter.
Grandma still welcomed Dongfang Qing with great enthusiasm.
Before dinner, Zhang Qiu had specially brought out a camera, saying she wanted to take photos to record this rare moment. Dongfang Qing didn’t know where she’d dug up the camera. She’d even slightly edited the pictures, transferred them to her computer using a memory card, and then posted them on Moments. Given the complexity of this series of actions, Dongfang Qing didn’t believe Zhang Qiu had done it just on a whim.
He walked slowly with Zhang Qiu along the street.
The breeze on the old street was gentle, and the pace of life was significantly slower compared to the city on the other side. Here, you could see people strolling leisurely everywhere. The old houses were steeped in time, like an aged photograph.
Pipi was walking through the grass, and Zhang Qiu noticed, pulling on the leash to prevent it from startling the neighbors.
“Qiuqiu’s back?” someone asked.
Zhang Qiu politely stopped to greet them: “Just came back to see Grandma.”
“Oh, this young man is handsome, isn’t he? Is he Qiuqiu’s boyfriend?” the person teased.
Dongfang Qing blushed instantly, his face turning red. He waved his hands hastily: “No… I’m not…”
“He’s a relative of my family, here to visit Grandma,” Zhang Qiu said, smiling politely at the person. The person became a little self-conscious under her gaze and scratched their head: “Such a handsome young man, he certainly looks like he belongs in your family.”
“Goodbye, Grandma Li.” Zhang Qiu watched the person leave with grace and continued walking Pipi.
The redness on Dongfang Qing’s face faded slightly. He muttered: “You’re better at handling that.”
They strolled for a couple more turns, and just as they were about to head back, Dongfang Qing’s phone suddenly rang. He took it out, glanced at it, and then looked at Zhang Qiu, asking: “Can I take this?”
Zhang Qiu saw the caution in Dongfang Qing’s expression and guessed who was calling.
She nodded: “Go ahead.”
The phone was still ringing, so Dongfang Qing muted it.
“If he asks, what should I say?” Dongfang Qing asked.
“Tell him the truth,” Zhang Qiu replied.
Dongfang Qing answered the call right in front of her.
“You went home with Zhang Qiu? Didn’t you say you didn’t like Zhang Qiu? Why would you go to see her grandma?” Gu Beichen sounded anxious.
Dongfang Qing laughed exasperatedly: “Gu Beichen, is your brain capacity really that small? Can I only date Zhang Qiu? Can’t we be friends?”
Gu Beichen fell silent on the other end.
“Can a man and a woman have a real friendship?”
He didn’t believe it.
Dongfang Qing sighed: “I’m going abroad soon. Grandma took care of me for a while, and I wanted to come and say goodbye. Is that not allowed?”
Gu Beichen said in a low voice: “I’ll be there soon too.”
“What are you coming for?” Dongfang Qing was surprised: “Did you tell Zhang Qiu you’re coming?”
“If you can come, why can’t I?” Gu Beichen retorted.
Dongfang Qing’s lips twitched and he said: “I’m different from you. Zhang Qiu invited me. If you come, what identity will you use? Ex-boyfriend?”
The phone was abruptly hung up.
Dongfang Qing helplessly told Zhang Qiu: “That guy’s coming. Get ready.”
Just as Zhang Qiu was about to speak, her own phone rang.
Pipi squatted on the ground, pawing at the dirt in resignation. Since its owners weren’t moving, it had to sit patiently and wait.
Zhang Qiu glanced at the phone, a bit disappointed.
It was Mu Yunchun, not Lin Luoluo.
She hung up. The caller persistently tried again. Zhang Qiu hung up twice more. Dongfang Qing looked at her and said: “Answer it. If you don’t, that guy won’t give up.”
Resisting the urge to block Mu Yunchun, Zhang Qiu answered the call. Mu Yunchun’s mournful voice came through: “When did you and Dongfang Qing get together?”
Zhang Qiu immediately hung up and decisively added Mu Yunchun’s number to her blacklist.
She said: “Let’s go. Done with calls.”
Dongfang Qing followed her, about to head back, when he suddenly saw Zhang Qiu stop. He looked over curiously. Mu Yunchun had appeared behind them, holding his phone, smiling: “What a coincidence, you two are here too.”
Dongfang Qing’s brow twitched.
Wasn’t this guy on a business trip in City A? To arrive here so quickly, he must have been on his way since the moment he saw the picture.
Zhang Qiu was very annoyed with Mu Yunchun. She said coldly: “Not a coincidence. Move aside, you’re blocking the way.”
Mu Yunchun stepped aside but followed her closely: “Aren’t you going to invite me to your house as a guest?”
Zhang Qiu: “My house is too small for a big shot like you.”
“It’s big enough, definitely big enough,” Mu Yunchun followed with a grin.
Seeing this, Dongfang Qing had no choice but to walk alongside Mu Yunchun. Only then did Mu Yunchun seem to notice him, saying: “Oh, look who it is! Young Master Dongfang is here too!”
Dongfang Qing could practically feel Mu Yunchun grinding his teeth with jealousy after seeing the photo.
He smiled faintly, ignoring the envious guy.
Zhang Qiu circled around outside twice, realizing she couldn’t shake off Mu Yunchun, so she had to take him home. Before they even reached the house, just at the entrance to the narrow alleyway of her home, the previously quiet lane was packed with a clamoring crowd. Zhang Qiu frowned at the onlookers blocking the way. Before she could react, someone pushed her forward: “Zhang Qiu, there are two luxury cars parked outside your house! They’re both here for you! Hurry up and go back!”
Zhang Qiu was jostled through the crowd and saw the man standing in front of the car.
Gu Beichen was standing by the car, smoking a cigarette, his eyebrows tightly furrowed, clearly annoyed by the gawking crowd.
Zhang Qiu pursed her lips, feeling deeply disappointed.
The person she wanted to see hadn’t made a move, yet a crowd of people she didn’t want to see had shown up.
Had her words today scared her off?
Zhang Qiu walked over, intending to ask Gu Beichen to leave so as not to block the alley. The number of onlookers was growing, and she didn’t want to become famous in the old street for this kind of thing.
Before she could reach him, she suddenly saw the door of the Aston Martin parked behind open. A pair of feet in small leather shoes stepped out first. Gu Beichen also frowned and looked over. The crowd grew excited.
“It’s a woman!”
“Could she be here to catch a cheating spouse?”
Zhang Qiu felt a sense of anticipation and looked over, her eyes widening instantly.
Lin Luoluo was miraculously standing by her courtyard wall, looking up at the house.
Lin Luoluo peered inside, hesitated, and didn’t dare to knock. She turned around, bent down, and repeatedly confirmed with Lin Xiangdong: “Brother, is this the place?”
Lin Xiangdong lazily rested his hands on the steering wheel: “I got the location from Dongfang Qing. This is the spot he sent.”
Lin Xiangdong looked at Lin Luoluo, whose mood had clearly improved, and smiled: “Alright, Gu Beichen’s car is blocked by mine in the front, so he can’t stop you. Just tell Zhang Qiu what you need to say. She’s not a petty person, and you shouldn’t cry anymore.”
Lin Luoluo blushed. She leaned into the car and said: “Thank you, Brother.”
“Go on,” Lin Xiangdong waved her off, stroking his beloved car, feeling quite pleased.
Lin Luoluo had been down ever since she returned with their mother today. Although she’d pretended to be fine in front of their mother, Lin Xiangdong noticed her red-rimmed eyes when he called her to play a game.
His sister told him she had argued with Zhang Qiu.
Zhang Qiu might never play games with them again.
Even if it was just for the game, no, for his sister, Lin Xiangdong couldn’t let the misunderstanding continue. He immediately dragged Lin Luoluo here to find Zhang Qiu.
He was friends with Zhang Qiu on social media and had naturally seen the photo.
Lin Xiangdong’s motto was that actions speak louder than words. Why fret so much? It was better to talk face-to-face.
They drove quickly, but he hadn’t expected Gu Beichen to show up here too. Hadn’t he broken up with Zhang Qiu? Why was he in such a hurry to get here?
Lin Xiangdong got out of the car, his tall, muscular frame blocking the way. He intended to go and catch up with Gu Beichen, but then he was surprised to see Dongfang Qing, Mu Yunchun, and Zhang Qiu appear as well. Now, with Gu Beichen added, their group was all gathered right outside Zhang Qiu’s house.
Lin Luoluo took a deep breath. She absolutely had to see Zhang Qiu before Gu Beichen did!
Driven by this thought, she decided to knock on the door, hearing Lin Xiangdong call out to her again.
“Luoluo, come over.”
Lin Luoluo looked at the large blue iron gate. The blue paint was peeling. If she stood on her tiptoes, she could see the courtyard inside, paved with blue flagstones. The small yard was cozy and tranquil. Zhang Qiu grew up here and kept a dog named Pipi.
She had made up her mind. What Gu Beichen, what male and female protagonists, what world consciousness? Why couldn’t she confess her feelings to Zhang Qiu? Zhang Qiu had already told her everything.
She couldn’t keep pretending to be clueless.
Holding this feeling in her heart, Lin Luoluo was about to knock again, but Lin Xiangdong shouted again: “Zhang Qiu is here.”
She spun around abruptly. The setting sun was nearly gone. There were countless people behind her, yet only one person’s figure was so clear.
She heard Zhang Qiu’s voice: “You’re here.”
Although she couldn’t clearly see her expression, for some reason, Lin Luoluo was now absolutely certain that Zhang Qiu was smiling. She must have been waiting for her.
And she had come to keep the appointment.
