The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 41.2
A soft scent wafted against her nose. Lin Luoluo’s chin was gently lowered, and Zhang Qiu’s soft lips pressed against her pale forehead, a fleeting touch, like a dragonfly skimming the water.
“Don’t be mad, okay? I was wrong.” She then tugged playfully at Lin Luoluo’s sleeve.
Lin Luoluo opened her eyes in disbelief, her entire face growing even redder, like a budding flower, her eyes so moist they looked ready to shed tears.
“You, you…”
She stuttered slightly, the shame in her heart somewhat soothed.
Zhang Qiu smiled at her, winking. “I was wrong, Luoluo, will you forgive me?”
What more could Lin Luoluo say?
Her anger had simply taken leave of her, completely disregarding its owner’s will.
Lin Luoluo nodded shyly, clutching the hem of her clothes, unsure what to say. Her mind was foggy, her feet felt soft, as if she were walking on clouds—her whole body felt light and airy.
“Good Luoluo,” Zhang Qiu praised her.
Lin Luoluo, as if she had drunk a confused decoction, followed Zhang Qiu.
“Let’s go eat.”
All this commotion had already brought them to noon.
Lin Luoluo nodded, trailing closely behind Zhang Qiu like a timid bride.
She kept her hands by her side, not daring to reach out, thinking Zhang Qiu wouldn’t hold her hand. Instead, Zhang Qiu waited for her, took a step, and extended her hand, saying, “Let’s go.”
Lin Luoluo’s heart fluttered. Looking at Zhang Qiu’s fair, jade-like face full of smiles, she slowly placed her hand into Zhang Qiu’s palm, where it was tightly held.
Zhang Qiu’s hand was slightly cool, smooth like jade to the touch, but her fingertips had calluses, which seemed inconsistent with her appearance.
Lin Luoluo felt a pang of sympathy.
These were marks Zhang Qiu had earned from working; she had never been a spoiled girl.
Unlike Lin Luoluo, whose biggest hardship, both before and after crossing over, had been social interaction.
Lin Luoluo walked beside Zhang Qiu, gazing distractedly at her profile. A light, serene smile touched Zhang Qiu’s lips—a gentle smile, just like her personality: not intense, not fervent, but full of passion.
“Which day are you free this week?” Zhang Qiu suddenly asked.
Lin Luoluo recalled her class schedule for the week and replied softly, “Wednesday.”
“Do you want to come to my house to see my grandmother?” Zhang Qiu asked with a smile. “Grandma really wants to invite you over as a guest.”
Lin Luoluo was stunned. She carefully observed Zhang Qiu’s expression, confirming that she wasn’t lying, or just being polite, or deliberately coaxing her.
Her face felt a little hot. Lin Luoluo stammered, “I… I want to go.”
“I want to go see Grandma, haha.” She chuckled awkwardly a few times.
Zhang Qiu smoothed things over: “Yes, you just want to go see Grandma.”
Lin Luoluo secretly glanced at her. When Zhang Qiu suddenly looked back, she pretended to look away toward the distance. As soon as Zhang Qiu looked away, she glanced back again. Zhang Qiu suppressed a laugh, letting her stare. She didn’t know what was so appealing about her that Lin Luoluo couldn’t take her eyes off her.
Their hands never let go.
Walking hand-in-hand on campus, the two girls didn’t draw much attention. Lin Luoluo’s palms were sweating. She worried Zhang Qiu might find it unpleasant, but she couldn’t bear to let go.
Her warm palm gradually seemed to melt Zhang Qiu’s slightly cool hand, their palms hot against each other.
They reached the cafeteria, and Zhang Qiu only released Lin Luoluo’s hand to get her meal card.
They had arrived early, before the main lunch rush, but the cafeteria was already quite busy.
Zhang Qiu led Lin Luoluo to the window where she usually found good food. Lin Luoluo looked around curiously.
Since transferring, she hadn’t really eaten at the cafeteria; she either ate at home or at Lin Xiangdong’s apartment, where the housekeeper would prepare meals when she was back.
Zhang Qiu asked Lin Luoluo what she wanted to eat. Lin Luoluo casually ordered two dishes that interested her.
She ate little; her card swipe only totaled eight yuan. Zhang Qiu then went to buy the school’s famous yogurt smoothie.
Lin Luoluo hadn’t tried it before and tasted it with interest, finding that it certainly lived up to its reputation; no wonder so many alumni reminisced about it on the forums.
They talked intermittently while eating. Zhang Qiu said, “Did you see the door we came in through?”
Lin Luoluo nodded.
“Watch again when classes let out. The foot traffic there is pretty heavy. After lunch, people like to go for walks on the athletic field, and they also leave through that door. Once you have your surveys printed, we can set up a booth there.”
Lin Luoluo hadn’t expected Zhang Qiu’s thinking to be so clear. They had just had what amounted to a fight, albeit one-sidedly on her part, but in this situation, Zhang Qiu could still remember Lin Luoluo’s assignment. She truly was an academic star, the one who received the school’s full scholarship every year.
Lin Luoluo bit her chopsticks and smiled at Zhang Qiu.
Zhang Qiu looked at her tiny appetite and wondered how the Lin family managed to raise her so big. She didn’t like meat, was picky about vegetables, and out of all the cafeteria dishes, there were only a few she would eat.
Zhang Qiu made a mental note of this.
The two were talking and laughing when a voice suddenly came from the side.
“Vice President, Lin Luoluo?”
Lin Luoluo stared at the person holding a meal tray standing by their table, not recognizing who it was. She looked at Zhang Qiu blankly. Zhang Qiu cleared her throat to prompt her: “Fang Duo, did your class finish?”
Fang Duo asked, “Can I sit here? There are no more seats.”
Lin Luoluo looked around. Unbeknownst to them, the cafeteria had suddenly filled up; students must have come to eat after their noon classes.
She gave a slight nod. Zhang Qiu said, “Sit down.”
Fang Duo sat next to Zhang Qiu, facing Lin Luoluo. Seeing their nearly empty meal trays, Fang Duo asked, “Vice President, when did you two get here? Don’t you have to go to your internship today?”
“The law firm gave me two days off, so I’m resting today,” Zhang Qiu replied.
“Oh,” Fang Duo acknowledged, taking a small sip of soup.
Zhang Qiu then said, “I’ve already resigned from the Student Council. You’re the President now, so you don’t need to call me Vice President anymore.”
Fang Duo looked at Zhang Qiu with adoration. She said awkwardly, “It’s just habit, Senior Sister Qiu?” she asked tentatively.
Zhang Qiu nodded in affirmation.
Fang Duo put down her soup bowl and looked across at Lin Luoluo, who was drinking the smoothie. In a pleasant tone, she said, “You haven’t reported to the Student Council for several days. If this continues, your position as Vice President will be terminated.”
Lin Luoluo licked the smoothie residue from the corner of her mouth and said sullenly, “I’ll write my letter of resignation when I get back. I’m done with the Student Council.”
“Why?” This time, it was Fang Duo’s turn to ask. “The Tennis Club has received sponsorship. The sponsor is very generous, not only providing uniforms and venue but also planning to find a spokesperson among the club members. You really handled this matter brilliantly. I apologize for what I said before—you are not a vase.”
Lin Luoluo glanced at Zhang Qiu, then pursed her lips.
Her original decision to run for the position was purely due to the system’s coercion. She didn’t enjoy targeting Zhang Qiu, didn’t want to be the Student Council Vice President, and certainly didn’t want to face Fang Duo every day.
She was petty and held grudges.
Fang Duo tried to persuade her a few more times, and she seemed to be sincere.
Lin Luoluo’s beautiful, slender eyebrows furrowed slightly: “Just as the President originally said, I don’t believe I have the capacity to shoulder the responsibilities of the Vice President, so I resign. There are no other reasons.”
Fang Duo coughed. “To say that is a bit irresponsible.”
“You were the one who ran for the position then, and you’re the one who is quitting now.”
“Senior Sister even said many good things about you to me, but I didn’t expect you were still throwing a princess’s temper tantrum.”
“Since Miss Lin no longer wants to play, I will speak to the teacher tomorrow to post a public notice and select a new Vice President.”
Lin Luoluo sharply raised her eyebrows. Fang Duo looked at her expressionlessly, finally revealing her true, hostile self—she still held dissatisfaction toward Lin Luoluo.
Lin Luoluo was speechless because everything Fang Duo said was true.
She puffed out her cheeks and glared at Fang Duo.
Fang Duo put down her chopsticks and said, “Since Senior Sister is here, I’ll just be frank.”
“Lin Luoluo, I really dislike you.”
“If it weren’t for you, Senior Sister and the President wouldn’t have broken up.”
“I heard you’re going to have an arranged marriage with President Gu now.”
“Congratulations, you finally got what you wished for.”
“I stand on Senior Sister’s side, so it’s only right that I dislike you, isn’t it?”
Fang Duo spoke to herself, bringing up the reality that the two of them had been avoiding: Gu Beichen.
