The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 39
Upon returning home, her mother, Tan Yi, was waiting by the door. Seeing Lin Luoluo, she chided, “Who were you having dinner with? You’re home so late.”
Lin Luoluo glanced at the wall clock. It was only a little past eight, which wasn’t too late, but her mother’s worried expression still made her feel a bit guilty.
She walked over, took her mother’s arm, and said playfully, “Just with a friend~”
Tan Yi poked Lin Luoluo’s forehead with her finger. “You’ve only just returned to the country and you’re not familiar with things here. Next time you go out, call the driver to take you, so you don’t get lost.”
Lin Luoluo rubbed her face against her mother’s shoulder, murmuring, “I’m not a child anymore.”
“Enough, still acting like a baby? Go and change your clothes. Since you’ve already eaten, I won’t call you.”
“Is there good food?” Lin Luoluo asked curiously.
“Your aunt, Gu Beichen’s mother’s brother, just returned and brought some local specialties. She had someone send them over. I saw the ham looked very good, so I’m going to have some with your father.”
“Are you going to eat?” Tan Yi asked.
Lin Luoluo shook her head; she was already very full.
Holding her mother’s arm, the two walked inside together.
Tan Yi said, “I heard that Sang Zimo is going to teach at your school. Maybe you’ll run into him.”
Lin Luoluo nodded. “I saw him at school today. Gu Beichen took his uncle to see the principal, and it looks like it’s settled.”
Tan Yi smiled. “Were you sticking close to Gu Beichen again?”
Lin Luoluo gave an awkward smile. Seeing her father seated at the dining table, she didn’t want to continue the previous topic, so she greeted her father: “Dad, I’m home.”
Lin’s father nodded. Lin Luoluo then said, “You two drink; I’m going upstairs.”
“This girl,” Tan Yi scolded playfully. “I’ve washed some fruit. I’ll ask the maid to bring it up to you later; make sure you eat it.”
“Mom, I know!” Lin Luoluo ran up the stairs. Lin Xiangdong had just entered the house from the garage. Seeing both his parents, he asked curiously, “You two are both back?”
“Care for a drink, you stinker?” Lin’s father asked.
Lin Xiangdong looked at the candlelight and wine on the table, then at his mother and father. He raised an eyebrow, knowing they wanted a private evening, and waved his hand, yawning. “I’m sleepy. I’m going to bed early tonight. You two enjoy your drinks.”
“Go on,” Lin’s father waved, as if shooing a fly.
Lin Xiangdong chuckled to himself as he turned and went upstairs, leaving only Lin’s father and his wife downstairs.
Tan Yi asked the family maid to take the fruit up to the two children. Only then did she sit down and say, “The children grow up and no longer listen to their mother.”
Lin’s father passed her the red wine. “I think both children are doing well.”
Tan Yi glared at him. “It’s all because you spoil them! Xiangdong is unreliable, and Luoluo, a girl, is running after a boy.”
“When a girl chases a boy, it’s easy, like separating a veil,” he replied.
“My Lin Sen’s daughter, everything she does is good.”
Tan Yi’s lips showed a helpless smile. “I’ve told you countless times, but you never listen. Just keep spoiling them.”
Lin’s father took Tan Yi’s hand and gently rubbed it. “Don’t talk about that anymore. Drink.”
He raised his glass and clinked it with Tan Yi’s. The two savored the unique flavor of the ham while sipping their wine.
Upstairs, Lin Luoluo took the fruit from the maid and thanked her, watching as the maid went to her stinky brother’s room to deliver the other portion before closing the door.
Lin Luoluo thought for a moment and messaged Zhang Qiu: [What time are you being discharged tomorrow?]
[9 AM.]
[I’ll come help you. We can go back to school, grab lunch, and then head to class in the afternoon.]
Lin Luoluo outlined her entire day’s plan. Zhang Qiu, seeing the message, smiled broadly: [Then lunch is on me at the cafeteria.]
[Sounds good!]
Giving and receiving—that’s how you build a relationship!
Lin Luoluo giggled like a little mouse.
She told Zhang Qiu she was going to shower. After showering and drying her hair, she found that her stinky brother, who was clearly home, had sent her a message.
[Can you ask Zhang Qiu to come on? Let’s play PUBG.]
Lin Luoluo: ???
She replied: [What time is it? Still playing games.]
Lin Xiangdong whined: [It’s not even ten yet. Just a few rounds before bed!]
[Did you get killed right after landing again?] Lin Luoluo suspected.
[No… I was ambushed by a ghillie suit camper…] Lin Xiangdong said angrily: [I was so close to getting a Chicken Dinner!]
[If your skill is poor, don’t blame the opponent for being too strong.]
[Good sister, please just ask Zhang Qiu.]
Lin Luoluo hesitated, asking: [Why don’t you ask?]
Lin Xiangdong: [She won’t join me.]
[And she’ll join me?] Lin Luoluo thought, Zhang Qiu should be going to sleep.
[Give it a try.] Lin Xiangdong said, followed by an emoji of a little person begging.
Lin Luoluo reluctantly found Zhang Qiu’s chat, tentatively sending a message: [Are you asleep?]
The reply came quickly: [No.]
[What’s up?] Zhang Qiu asked back.
Lin Luoluo stared at Zhang Qiu’s instant reply and broke into a silly smile.
[My stinky brother got ambushed by a ghillie suit camper in his game and wants you to play with him. If you don’t want to, I’ll tell him you’re asleep.]
Zhang Qiu looked at her phone, her lips curving into a smile. She flipped the book over on her bedside table and typed: [I’m logging on.]
Lin Luoluo hadn’t expected her to actually join when asked.
Zhang Qiu had clearly already refused Lin Xiangdong.
Feeling sweet inside, she sent two words to Lin Xiangdong: [Log on.]
Then she exited the chat interface and opened the game.
Lin Luoluo wasn’t addicted to games, usually only playing small games that didn’t take up much memory. She came to enjoy playing PUBG because the process of playing with Zhang Qiu was always fun.
As soon as Lin Luoluo logged on, Lin Xiangdong pulled her into a match. Before she could even see who was in the game, Zhang Qiu was pulled in, and the match began.
When they were parachuting, a soft, sugary female voice suddenly rang out: “World’s Number One Handsome, is this the expert you invited?”
Lin Xiangdong’s ID was suddenly read aloud, and Lin Luoluo felt secondhand embarrassment.
She hadn’t turned on her mic, nor had Zhang Qiu. They listened to the conversation between the other two people in the team.
World’s Number One Handsome: “Yep, Ye Luozhiqiu is really good, she can definitely get us a Chicken Dinner!”
Sweet Fish complained: “You just said you could get me a Chicken Dinner a moment ago.”
This girl was using a deliberately cute, high-pitched “cutesy” voice.
Her words made Lin Luoluo get goosebumps.
Lin Luoluo chose to follow Zhang Qiu, who parachuted to a secluded spot. Whenever Zhang Qiu took Lin Luoluo along, she would choose a place with fewer people, avoiding direct confrontation.
Sweet Fish spoke again.
“There’s so little loot here! Why didn’t we go to the center? I haven’t even found an assault rifle. What can a lousy submachine gun kill?”
Lin Luoluo looked at the submachine gun in her hand and thought it was fine.
She climbed over a wall to leave the house closest to Sweet Fish and went to find Zhang Qiu.
The two players silently looted items. Lin Luoluo actively collected all the medical supplies and stocked up on bullets if she had extra space.
Over there, Lin Xiangdong was trying to soothe Sweet Fish’s mood: “I found an assault rifle here, it’s for you.”
“Why is it an AK? I don’t like using that.”
Lin Luoluo rolled her eyes. She had just found an M416. As she was about to exit the main door of the house, she unexpectedly bumped into Sweet Fish.
Lin Luoluo reluctantly stepped aside, not wanting to crowd her, when she suddenly heard that soft, sugary voice say: “Can you use the M416? Your brother said you’re pretty bad.”
Lin Luoluo was stunned. She saw no reaction from Lin Xiangdong, and her anger flared up.
That jerk Lin Xiangdong! Airing out the family’s dirty laundry!
Lin Luoluo didn’t say anything. Shaking off Sweet Fish, she ran out, ready to go and ‘punish’ Lin Xiangdong.
Suddenly, she heard several gunshots. The mini-map showed people to the east. She hesitated, really not wanting to stay with Sweet Fish, and moved in the direction of Ye Luozhiqiu.
Sweet Fish didn’t follow her, running directly into the enemy’s encirclement.
Lin Luoluo wanted to swear. Just as Sweet Fish was about to be surrounded, gunfire suddenly came from somewhere, and one of the enemies went down.
Then a smoke grenade exploded in the street. Lin Luoluo heard dense footsteps and shrunk her head even further. She saw that Sweet Fish’s ID was getting closer to her on the map, stopping right below her.
Lin Luoluo: ???
What was she doing? Why were those footsteps also getting closer?
The enemy was chasing Sweet Fish and following her here!
Lin Luoluo grumbled to herself, pulling out her gun. Suddenly, she heard Sweet Fish’s voice downstairs: “Save me!”
Lin Luoluo rolled her eyes.
If she were a boy, she might have been fooled by the sweet voice, but now Lin Luoluo determined she was just a cutesy fraud, and one with low ‘green tea’ skill at that. She didn’t know why Lin Xiangdong played with a girl like this. She regretted asking Zhang Qiu to join.
She angrily aimed her gun downstairs and saw the enemy’s silhouette. Just as Lin Luoluo was about to shoot, a grenade was suddenly thrown into the second floor by the enemy. Lin Luoluo quickly dodged, which played right into the enemy’s trap. The enemies had split into two groups at some point—one group surrounded the house downstairs, making noise, and the other went to the second floor of the building across the street, directly knocking Lin Luoluo down.
Lin Luoluo cursed under her breath. Seeing her health bar turn red, she resigned herself to death.
Suddenly, she heard a very faint voice: “Bye-bye~”
That cutesy fraud did it on purpose!
Lin Luoluo was so angry she tossed and turned on her bed. She was about to kick the opposite door to go and scold Lin Xiangdong when suddenly, a few gunshots rang out, and the world went silent. When she looked at the screen again, Ye Luozhiqiu appeared out of nowhere and revived her.
Sweet Fish’s overly affected voice sounded again: “Wow, handsome, you’re amazing! Did you come to save me? Luckily you made it in time, I was almost killed by them.”
Lin Luoluo: ???
She looked at Ye Luozhiqiu’s female character on the screen again.
Was this Sweet Fish blind?
Zhang Qiu maintained her cool, ignoring Sweet Fish’s attempts to flirt.
Lin Luoluo, feeling annoyed, was revived and started patching herself up with a medical kit.
She was still feeling down when a message popped up on her phone: [Are you angry?]
Lin Luoluo looked at the game, then at the message that appeared on the screen, and chose not to reply.
That ‘fish’ was currently circling Ye Luozhiqiu and making heart gestures.
[Do you want to kill a teammate?] Another message floated onto the screen.
Lin Luoluo pursed her lips and replied: [I want to kill the fish!]
Back in the game, Ye Luozhiqiu suddenly typed two words: “Bye-bye.”
Then, after a flash of fire, there was a loud explosion.
Lin Luoluo, warned by Zhang Qiu, jumped downstairs early. She saw Sweet Fish first startled by the grenade effect, her tail on fire as she ran forward, and then she was hit by the grenade, falling down the stairs in a panic and continuously spamming “Save me.”
A smile spread across Lin Luoluo’s face.
Sweet Fish turned on her mic and yelled, “Are you two crazy! Killing your own teammates!”
Lin Luoluo scoffed. Suddenly, she heard Zhang Qiu turn on her mic.
“He who insults others is insulted.”
“Also, I am not a handsome guy, and I didn’t come to save you.”
“Luoluo, mute your mic and let’s go.”
Lin Luoluo smiled and followed. Sweet Fish’s profile icon turned gray.
